Wonderful food (tastier than other Ethiopian I've had - I think they add more salt here). Very friendly service. The counter looks a bit like a bar counter. Prices are decent. I will definitely come here regularly.

We have been to the other Ethiopian restaurant in the same block a few times and did not notice this one until one day we drove around the block accidentally and decided to give it a shot. We were so glad we did. The food was delicious and we almost liked all dishes. We had sautéed beef, lamb and beef stew, and fish and vegetables. The white fish was a huge surprise as we have been eating at least a dozen Ethiopian restaurants and never had fish dish and not to say so delicious. The owner was a fun and interesting character, he ordered for us and told us it to order more bread which turned out to be a wise decision. The portion is generous and price is more than reasonable.

I have eaten at many Ethiopian restaurants around the region, and Enatye stands out as one of the best. From the moment we walked in, the staff greeted us warmly and helped explain the menu (we were new to Ethiopian cuisine). The injera was beautifully soft and slightly tangy — the perfect base for the stews. We tried the doro wot, lamb tibs, and a vegetable combo. Every dish was deeply flavorful, well seasoned, and served in generous portions. The spice levels were balanced, and even the vegetables had richness, not just boiled greens. Overall, the atmosphere was cozy, the service attentive, and the food unforgettable. Highly recommended for both newcomers and aficionados!”

I have eaten at a lot of Ethiopian restaurants in the DMV, and ordered even more takeout - Enatye is my favorite. I only wish that I lived closer! We took family members who were visiting from out of state, and they said our meal at Enatye was the highlight of their trip. We had a large platter of various meats and veggies and everything was fantastic. The food was so fresh and flavorful, as well as tender. The kitfo was incredibly fresh, and the dry lamb tibs were a favorite too. I often find tibs to be a bit tough, but Enatye's were amazing. The coffee and beer were great, and the owner and our server "B" were so helpful and kind as well. We will be back for sure, and we hope that they open a location closer to DC.

I came here with one other person for an early dinner. We were very hungry and decided to share a 2-person combo and selected lamb and chicken along with spinach, spicy lentil, potato, green beans, and cabbage as our 5 veggies. The food was tasty. The lamb cubes were soft and well seasoned, the chicken gravy had a nice cardamom flavor. The spicy lentils were not spicy unfortunately, and we probably should have gotten the chickpeas instead of it. The injera had a nice fermented taste that complimented the savory dishes. Overall it was a solid, delicious and filling meal. I would definitely come back here when I’m in the area. The restaurant had a nice family-run feel. Since we arrived before the usual dinner rush we were seated right away, in fact the server saw us coming in and was already bringing menus over to a table for us and welcomed us in immediately. Side note: the beverage listed on the menu as Pierre is just a typo, it’s Perrier 😊

Amazing food and great value. We've eaten here a number of times both in the restaurant and take away. The food is always good and fresh and the people are really nice. The combo meal is the best value and it is ridiculously good and a ton of food. Go for it

A hidden gem 💎 with great food. The service is fast and the portions are generous. However, that is also reflected 🪞 in the prices. That being said, it's a great cuisine to try if you haven't already. It's not as common as some other cuisines but it's still phenomenal. It's certainly worth a visit!!

I have not had the opportunity to experience Ethiopian food in years, and was so grateful to find a place to enjoy some close to where I was staying during this trip. Enatye in Herndon is a gem for anyone who loves flavorful Ethiopian cuisine. We went there with my Indian parents, and even they absolutely loved it! The food is rich and a bit oily, but that’s exactly where the amazing taste comes from. If you’re a meat lover or even enjoy vegetables, you’ll find plenty to enjoy here. Their smooth, soft Ethiopian bread (injera) was a highlight — perfect for scooping up the delicious stews and dishes. Definitely a spot to try if you’re looking for hearty, flavorful meals in Herndon.

Everyone I encountered there was friendly and encouraging. The food was different but had lots of good flavor. The only thing I did not expect was the foods temperature. During a pickup, a staff member took it upon himself to tap and verify the order on my phone without asking first. This crossed a personal boundary. A simple verbal confirmation would have been enough. Staff should avoid touching customers’ personal stuff. This level of standards might pass somewhere else but here it will cost them.
