I am super impressed with takeout from Sierra grill tonight! We moved to grass valley so it’s been a while. I remember the pick up being hit or miss (small things like missing salad dressing or leaving the bun on the burger when I ask for no bun) but wow, they’ve really stepped up their game! Abundant amount of brisket for my Sierra salad, a huge serving of ribs (hubby already scarfed a few down before I took the photo). My special order was perfect, extra dressing, extra butter and sour cream for the potato. 10/10. And of course the food tastes great!

A large place that was well staffed. A little worn with unremarkable decor but in that way that you might have found something really special. Our group of ~12 was seated promptly, (I suspect someone in our group called ahead), and our waitress was great. She even got us separate checks, well after the orders were placed, she passed them around so that the next person was the top check. Brilliantly executed. My Patty Melt was cooked to order and the onions great but it was so greasy. The fruit side was a good selection and all on that goldilocks zone of ripeness.

Nice little place, food was good and always seems busy. What I didn't like was after we ate, the waitress asking "do you want separate checks" "no"..."so all on one check?". "Yes. All on one check*. What strange questions after the meal was eaten. But then she was too. Professionally that must be asked when taking the orders. Must be new as It's very rude to ask that after the meal and for just 3 people. Rude.

1st time back since re-opening. Nice option for dining out in Auburn, especially if you want basic american food

I have gone twice. First a baked potato. It was huge and needed more moisture--like butter and sour cream. It was over cooked so the cheese on top was even dry. It took half an hour to see a waitress but it was busy that day. No drink refill offers or "How's your food? Do you need anything?" Second visit was more frustrating. It took about an hour to get our orders placed and it was not busy. No excuses. I ordered medium steak with a side salad and grilled veggies. The veg tasted great but were over cooked. The steak was well-done, chewy and dry. Everyone in our party got their meals or salad but me. No waitresses in sight. We finally got one who apologized and later someone brought a wrong salad. He took it and never returned. Finally I got food but the group were basically finished. No salad ever came. No drink refills or offers. Next they mixed orders so billing was a mess. Then they told one they had not charged her meal even though they had taken her card. She checked and they had, but it wasn't even her meal, it was my steak. So another hassle. Oh, about my meal chaos. No comp at all. They took the cost of a side salad off my bill but nothing else. I am tempted to put no stars. Decor is nice. The bar is good.

I've been here so many times over the years. I've had great food with mediocre service. I've had good food with mediocre service. Today I got mediocre food with mediocre service. Not one staff was member friendly. I wasn't greeted. When taking my check to the register, she rang me up without a single word. Not even a 'goodbye' or empty 'have a nice day'. There seemed to be plenty of staff and the restaurant only had a few tables occupied. I went in at 10 am. When my waitress came by for my order she asked me what I wanted and didn't write anything down. At first, I was impressed. When I received my order, It wasn't right. I didn't complain. I just won't return. I do like the kitschy decor and I understand that people are human and make mistakes. I abhor bad customer service. I've received poor service every time I've dined here.

Place has the bbq vibe and staff were friendly. Saddly the reason for the rating is the food was just blah. Everything needed more seasoning from the ribs, chicken, and pulled pork. The frys were ho hum but the onion rings were the one item l that was spot on. The Mac and cheese was also just bland. Be clear nothing was bad and portion sizes were fine. Just would like to see the cooks put more flavor into the items.

Ordered take out. The ribs were rubbery and not tender at all. Maybe it was a bad night, but ribs at a smokehouse should be a signature dish that’s been perfected. Especially for the price. The only good tasting side dish was the fries. Overall, disappointed.

Waited for this place to reopen. Was very disappointed, food was cold clearly made hours ago. Ordered potato skin appetizer very cold and hard, along with a hair. Entrees were cold, very low quality of products. The staff was friendly and our server was very nice.

Came here on a Saturday afternoon with my girlfriend. I ordered a medium well steak sandwich, and my girlfriend ordered a medium burger with garlic fries. We also ordered onion rings as an appetizer. My steak sandwich was well done, tough, and stringy. It wasn't even sliced up. Just a steak put between a bun. My girlfriend's burger was also well done, and nearing burnt and her fries were not garlic fries. Our onion rings came considerably after the meals were delivered. We on the patio, which is understandable with Corona, but we had five or six flies all over our food and drinks the entire time. When I brought up all these complaints with the waitress all I was offered was 10% off our next visit which will only be helpful if I even come back in first place. The only thing good was the sweet potato fries I ordered.

​I was really looking forward to a good meal here, but unfortunately, it was a major disappointment. I dined in and ordered the Fried Okra and the Bacon Burger, and I also ordered a second Bacon Burger to go. ​The main issue was the grease. The food was so incredibly oily that it felt like it had been soaking in oil rather than being cooked in it. It was heavy, unappetizing, and extremely unhealthy. I couldn't even finish my meal. ​Worse part is when I realized how poor the quality was and asked to cancel my to-go order I was told that I couldn't cancel it. Being forced to pay for more food that I knew I wouldn't be able to eat was incredibly frustrating. ​Between the poor food quality and the rigid service, I won’t be coming back. There are definitely better, fresher options in Auburn.

I had the ribs. It was not edible. It was basically bone covered in fat! The little meat that was there was not edible. It was crunchy! I couldn't eat it. I'm nauseated! I won't be going back again! Do better!

Terrible service. The staff was more concerned with socializing with the customers that were their friends than serving the ones who were not. Had to order drinks twice before the food was delivered, then again afterwards. Then they charged for a drink that was ordered but never brought to the table. When it arrived, the food was a mix of lukewarm to cold, indicating it was "re-used", likely from previous orders where it went uneaten. Also had to ask for utensils. Meals did not include everything advertised in the menu. This place is nowhere near what it used to be. Avoid at all costs!

I swear this place just keeps going downhill, food quality wise. Ordered the brisket lunch plate with garlic mashed potatoes. The brisket was fatty and overdone. Came with hardly any bbq sauce. The mashed potatoes have zero garlic flavor, and it seems they are now mixing instant mashed potatoes with some real potatoes to beef up the watery instant potatoes. Save your money and go somewhere else.
