Fantastic pizza and wine, must try their happy hour!

Once you get past the "privilege" of some of the patrons, the place is quite nice. The food is always excellent, the staff knows their craft, and they perform with passionate professionalism. It is a perfect repast on a late night. 🤌🏿

came during happy hour - got the margherita and mushroom pizza . loved both , we also loved the open kitchen concept . bar seats were a bit uncomfortable but service and food was great

One of the best pizza’s i’ve ever had, and i love food in Austin but every time i come here never had the chance to have good pizza. But this was awesome, Neapolitan pizza, it was nice and chewy, delicious sauce 👍🏻 good service. I think it’s a chain they have couple of locations throughout the US but i would recommend it, you won’t be dissapointed.

Been to this location multiple times and it never fails. The Neapolitan style pizza is done to perfection and always a great variety of ingredients. My favorite is the Taleggio (sausage, mozzarella, scallions). But wait, there’s more! Did you know they also do brunch? The biscuits are buttery and flaky perfection. The homemade jam is always a treat. Then there is the shakshuka verde with roasted broccoli and cauliflower, parm, celery and egg — I know you may think it sounds odd but it is a delicious combination of flavors and textures. Trust me, you won’t regret it. And then there’s the hand pies. It seems like all things dough here are on another level. Usually filled with fruit and topped with ice cream which gives you the sweet and salty combo that make your taste buds tingle. You can’t go wrong. My husband and I make it a point to hit up brunch at least a couple times a month here.

Love their home made mozzarella and their pizza dough is perfectly salted and flavorful, slightly chewy and soft. It's just how I love my pizza dough. Add the fresh ingredients and every bite is heavenly. The wine selection there is just alright. Fairly pricy but that's how the game goes with wine. Service there is helpful and eager to please. Place can get packed and I hope they expand across the street soon hint hint.

Came for the pizza, and the pasta and Caesar salad were even better. All around great experience with delicious food and perfectly attentive but not intrusive service.

The pizzas from here give a NYC pizza a run for its money! And it’s right here in Austin. The sauce is rich and tangy, and the decor is casual but fancy at the same time. The firing oven is right in the sitting area so you can watch your pizza being made while you sip one of their wines. Good place for friend meet ups, having a birthday dinner, or a sweet date.

Delicious Napoli style pizza (sourdough crust in Italian wood fired oven) in contemporary space with long shared tables, bar seating, and a row of 2 person tables. The service was incredible, someone constantly refilling your water, removing empty plates, and bringing by wine/food. Friendly and informative staff. Very extensive wine list with something for everyone and every price point! 2 appetisers (olives & cheese plate) 2 pizzas 1 glass of wine $87 w/ 20% tip

The pizza is amazing. The crust is light and airy, the toppings and tomato sauce are so fresh, the olive oil is imported, the wine list is extensive… there’s no detail overlooked. The staff is so friendly and welcoming. Best pie on the east side.

Excellent pizza Neapolitan style! On the cons I think it’s a little expensive but worth it for how rare it is to find authentic pizza

A
Antonio Gianola

Very tight focused menu and delicious beer and wine list. You will eat and drink well here. If you don't I am not sure what went wrong. Only open Wednesday to Sunday so plan accordingly. Happy hour wine pricing is a steal at 50% off for bottles under $100

L

Food was great, particular shout out for their Caesar salad, it's the size of a pyramid. Atmosphere isn't great, it's loud and feels like a diner. That's great if you want to be in a diner, not great otherwise. The staff made us feel like we were imposing on their time, honestly the worst part of the meal was anytime we had to interact with our server. Pizza is good though.

B

If I could give 10 stars, I would! I was craving authentic Italian style pizza, and their vodka arrabbiata delivered! It transported me straight back to Rome, having dinner on a rooftop with the Colosseum in the background. No joke, I was so happy. The sauce was packed with flavor with the perfect level of spice, the mozzarella was fresh, and the dough had that perfect, chewy texture you only find in the real deal. The customer service was 100 out of 10! Everyone was incredibly friendly and welcoming! You can tell they genuinely care. This place is officially my go-to for all Italian cravings. The only thing I’d change: please add tiramisu to the menu! That would make it perfect. I can’t wait to try the pasta next!

Very good Italian style pizza in a very cozy atomosphere. I ordered the Corn and N’duja and Margherita pizzas. The margherita was reminiscent of eating at cafes in France and Italy and was delicious. The corn and n’duja was Mexican flavor inspired and uniquely delicious. I’d certainly come back to try other pizzas and other menu items (like my friends) next time

Service was top notch. Delicious pizza! Cesar salad and sourdough bread were over the top good! Love a crusty salty sourdough and they know how to do it right!

J

Great pizza and wine spot! There is usually a wait, but it is well worth it (and you can have a glass outside while you wait). The pizza is cooked in a blazing hot wood fired oven that sits in the middle of the restuarant. On top of that, they have one of the best wine lists in Austin, and really know their stuff. Would definitely recommend!

If there’s a better Neapolitan pizza in Austin, I would be shocked. Wood fired over ✅ thin crispy crust ✅ simple yet fresh and delicious ingredients ✅

Such a vibe. If you’re looking for a nice pizza spot that’s serves fresh wood fired pizza this is the spot! We love it here with fresh pie’s. You need about 1 pizza per person if you are hungry.

Not only was the food absolutely delicious but the service went above and beyond!! My friend had gotten some rough news right as we walked in and was still collecting herself as we sat at our table, but our server Anna and all of the other servers were compassionate and respectful and did their best to help make our night better. Great food, great ambiance, and truly amazing people. 10/10 would recommend!!

No notes. Everything was delicious. Service was great. Pricey, but so good. For two people we ordered a salad, a pasta, and a pizza. Perfect amount of food.

Delicious pizza and the BEST caesar salad I've ever had in life!!

First place in Austin that lives up to the hype & even more, absolutely INCREDIBLE - if you haven't been, run here! We popped in on Monday evening for dinner, and we're able to get a table for 2 quickly. We were planning to behave with the ordering, but once we had one look around, we knew we'd be remiss if we didn't indulge. With that, we got going with some starters: The Stracciatella with tomato jam was phenomenal. Every single bit was better than the last, didn't want it to end. We also split the Orecchiette pasta, which was another stunner. The pasta was cooked perfectly and the sauce was hearty but light & perfect for a summer dish. Then came the mains, we ordered a Margherita and the N'duja (white sauce) pie. These didn't disappoint and are by far the BEST pizzas you will have in Austin (or Texas). To say we were stuffed is an understatement, but our server mentioned a Key Lime Ice Cream with graham cracker salt topping, so we had to go for it. Again, another star on the menu!! Literally, every dish was executed beautifully and every bite was bursting with flavor! Wine list was great, and the staff was all phenomenal as well. HIGHLY recommend coming here and indulging, you will not/ cannot regret it.

In the last two weeks, I've been to Bufalina on Cesar Chavez 4 times, I can't stay away. Jackie has been our server twice and she's been the absolute best. We love to go and it's an added treat when she is there. The food is incredible, fresh, and I can't wait to eat through the entire menu. The wine menu itself is the size of a Bible and the servers are all super knowledgeable, so you actually know what you are getting yourself into. Easily my favorite restaurant in Austin, if you can't tell from how much I've just raved about it!

Cozy, Elevated, and Full of Flavor We had another amazing evening at Bufalina. The service was top-notch — friendly, knowledgeable, and offered great recommendations that really made the night. We started with the stracciatella, which was creamy and fresh, followed by the pappardelle pasta and a Margherita pizza with pepperoni — both absolutely delicious and made with clear care and quality ingredients. We ended with the coffee ice cream, which tasted like an affogato in the best way — rich, bold, and smooth. Bufalina is a quaint, intimate spot that delivers high-end flavor without feeling stuffy. Every dish felt intentional and well-crafted. Highly recommend for a relaxed but exceptional dining experience.

Great Neapolitan pizza with crust that’s chewy on outside but soft on inside. Loved that center of crust was dry, not soggy. Stacciatella on house made bread with house made tomato jam was very good. Red Pie had excellent spicy & super garlicky tomato sauce. Great wine list, & 1/2 price bottles at HH. Uncomfortable chairs but still want to go back.

I loooooved this place. This is the first time I've had a truly authentic neapolitan style pizza since being in Naples and Amalfi and I was in heaven! We enjoyed every bite of a margarita pizza and a red pie. They also have an extensive wine list, but I had the house red and it was very nice. We arrived at about 7:45pm on a Sunday and were seated right away. Our waiter wasn't exactly a chatty fellow, but we were well taken care of. Also, they bring out the bill in an old book - so cute!

Second time eating here. Pizza is really solid, dough is chewy and soft like a Neapolitan. Great 🍅 sauce and mozzarella too. I also love the pasta 🍝 great surprise. Decor is simple but good. One small note, the music is a little too loud and the small speakers don’t do a great job.

A
Alanmichael Luck

This was a great experience and I will definitely be back. The food was fresh and delicious. The cavatelli pasta was awesome. My only critique is that the middle of the pizza was a bit soggy, could have used another minute in the oven. The leopardig on the pizza made up for it so still 5 stars. The wine was also really great!

🍕🍷Bufalina🍷🍕 My Bufalina experience was amazing! I went with a friend during happy hour. We got there right at 4pm and were seated right away. The restaurant filled up shortly after (4:30pm it was full!) and then folks had long wait times. The wait staff was prompt and added to the ambiance of an upscale and fresh pizza dining experience. The highlights were the Red Pie and the wine list! Happy hour is 1/2 off Pizza’s and bottles of wine under $100. We split a Chenin Blanc and we’re very happy with our choice - it was seriously amazing. We ordered 3 pizzas because the deal was too good to pass up! The red pie, taleggio, and the Calabrese. The calabrese was more loaded with toppings and the taleggio was a light but more cheesy and creamy. The red pie however was light and bursting with flavor. You could taste all the freshness of the tomatoes, the sweet, acidic, and salty. It was just wow. I recommend Bufalina but beware going outside of happy hour as it will get quite expensive! Enjoy! 🤤

This is a really great pizza place with quality ingredients and great crust. Plus an excellent happy hour and nice staff. The wine list is probably 10 pages long! If you’re missing a solid Neapolitan pizza, this can help hit the spot.

The pizza was so good also tried the pasta which was top tier. Instantly upon arriving with my date we smelled the place and the food smelled so good. Small wait but well worth it. We did go on a Friday night so it was packed, got on the wait list and waited a little and just continued smelling the goodness they were dishing out. Deff would go again here soon to try another pizza or pasta.

Really cool place with a great vibe. Low lights, friendly atmosphere, great service and delicious food! Will definitely make this a frequent trip. The pizza was delicious and made in a real fire oven. Desserts were new spins on old recipes but such a great pairing. Just sorry I didn't get the Caesar salad! Huge and looked soooo good! We'll there's next time :)

The staff and servers at Bufalina were keeping it weird. By weird, I mean they were awesome! We knew there was going to be a wait so we put our names down and we were told that it would be an hour. Which was the right amount of time to walk down the street and have some drinks before dinner. We got back and the place was busy yet our wait time was really only about 45 mins. The service came with a smile and the food was fantastic. I just cant stress enough how the entire Bufalina team's service was professional and on point. Can't wait to go back!

The mushroom pizza (with a parm cream base) was incredible ! Cozy wine bar atmosphere (wine club you can join). Happy hour daily 4-530pm with half off select pizzas (though our waitress didn’t give us the discount and we had to point that out)! Makes it extremely affordable during this time. Would definitely come back. Favorite pizza spot for many locals.

Went out to bufalina after wanting to for SO long and although there was a 45 min wait for a table of 3, we grabbed some wine and the time flew by. We got the caesar with the boquerones with the fresca and red pies. Everything tasted fresh, complex, and amazing! Their wine list is also excellent so we will be back soon

Bufalina is Austin <3. Julia, Anna, and Date just left me obsessed with Bufalina. Don’t get me wrong, when you focus on your product, and provide the best for your customers, that’s one thing. Bring in people who care, you are able to provide a whole experience that makes you crave more. The stracciatella was insane, with this creamy and sweet taste. We had the red pie with pepperoni and the mushroom pizza. Happy hour at 4:00-5:30, half off pizza and half off wine??? In Austin? This place is something else. Please come and bring friends. In love <3

One of the very best neapolitan Pizza in Austin. This place is always packed so be ready for the wait. The staff is very nice and friendly. Margherita is the all time favorite choice and never goes wrong. They make it very well. They have collection of lot of good wines to pair with the food. This time ice cream with sherry was the highlight 😋

Delicious happy hour! Love the wine selection and brick/clay oven pizza! We ordered a beautiful and flavorful Cesar Salad with anchovies. The presentation was beautiful! I’m not a red sauce person, and they have a lot of olive oil, garlic, or white sauce pizza options! We ordered the mushroom pizza - incredible, the perfect blend of mushrooms and cheese! The dough is light and crispy!

J

Go early because the space is small and fills up fast. The apps, pizza, and wine are all amazing. The service is fast and very friendly. The only drawback to this location is the noise level when the restaurant is full. The chef let us try a dessert tart that isn’t on the menu yet... and it was a solid finish to a great dinner.

I lived in Italy for several years and can honestly say this is some of the best pizza I have ever had. Truly authentic flavors and ingredients including the oven. Wonderful wine selection as well! If there was anything negative to say it would be that the restaurant is too small. Get there early..

We rarely go to places that haven’t been personally recommended or we research on review sites however this one came up and we thought we would give it a try… I’m a big fan of margarita pizza and the pictures looked great. Well, I can honestly say it’s some of the best margarita pizza I’ve ever had. Carter out server was fantastic and recommended additional ditches such as the tagliatelle and the thick bruschetta style ricotta and Mozzarella appetizer stracciatella was out of this world. Soft lighting and intimate atmosphere. Loved it. Will repeat!!! #margaritapizza #pasta #wine #ceasarsalad

First time in and the reason I knocked the food a touch was because the menu is just way too limited for us, but I will tell ya the pizza we had the vodka arrabbiatta with sausage was spectacular. It was a thin crust, not burnt or crispy. It was a little chewy. Just absolutely a whole lot of things that we like in a pizza..

Great pizza spot on the “east side” of Austin! You get those ATX vibes as soon as you walk in with a great atmosphere and friendly staff! We were good lucky to park right up front and be seated immediately at 6:30 on a Friday! We are not drinkers but everyone around us was enjoying wine with their pizza so I’d guess they have a great selection for those who are wine drinkers to enjoy. We ordered a Cesar Salad to start. The pics on here looked amazing so we had to try and it did not disappoint! Huge salad with lots of cheese and not too much dressing made for a great shareable starter. We also split a classic Margherita pizza and Mushroom pizza. Both were amazing and came out hot and fresh. Though you might not get as lucky as we did with parking there is parking available along the side street and it is a small restaurant so keep that in mind. People also like to enjoy their wine so tables might be sitting a little longer than other pizza places but it is well worth the wait and you will definitely enjoy! Thank you!

The perfect dinner - salad, wine, and pizza. With some of the hottest happy hour offerings - discounted pizza & half price bottles of wine - come early because it will fill up quickly! The Caesar salad is perfect and plenty to feed 2-3 people. Every pizza is amazing but the mushroom is my personal fave. A huge wine selection & great staff. Overall a great vibe & tasty food

This meal did not miss a beat!! We had the Caesar salad which was abundant, light and fresh. The Orecchiette had so much depth and flavor and the Fresca pizza was exactly that, fresh. We tried the coffee gelato for desert which was so addicting. We can’t wait to come back again and will definitely check out the half off happy hour.

I ate the entire pizza!!! Being from the northeast I feel like I know a good pie when I see/eat one and this place is on point. Everything is scratch made from the bread to their pies. I kept it simple and went for pepperoni as it was my first time at this establishment. Highly recommend when visiting Austin, TX.

The best food + wine you’ll get in Austin. Incredible wine list (for Austin) — lots of great benchmark producers and some great natural wines (not natty ones). Oh and the pizza and pasta are great.

Got seats at the counter doing a walkin around 5pm on a Sunday. Food is really really good. NYC quality. The bread and butter is warm and delicious. The pasta is phenomenal and the stracciatella shredded texture was thick and super shreddddy - loved it but it’s not for everyone imo

We have lived here for 2 years and this spot has become a local favorite of ours for celebrations, date nights, or even a good meal. The food is amazing and you can taste the quality, love, and care that goes in the food. The staff are committed to creating a wonderful, welcoming, and inclusive space. We adore seeing their faces every time we stop by. We are now moving and we will sorely miss this place. We hope this becomes your special place as it was for us. Do yourself a favor—and do not miss this place.

Tasty pizza made by hand and cooked in a large brick oven. Unique wine selection which is fun. Caesar salad and homemade bread are musts to complement your meal. Happy hour is a STEAL - 1/2 off select pizzas and wine bottles. No reservations - get there early or grab a drink and wait your turn.

Flavor on everything was absolutely exquisite! I felt like I was transported back to Italy, truly!!! The cacio e pepe was better than we had in Rome a couple years ago. They don’t take reservations for parties 4 and under, but we didn’t have a problem waiting on a Sunday night. Wait staff were very friendly and helpful. I can’t wait to go back next time I’m in Austin!

Went to Bufalina for happy hour for the first time and I can’t believe I’ve slept on this deal for so long. Happy hour is from 4 PM to 530 every day of the week. We arrived a few minutes before 4 PM and were among the first few groups to get seated. This is probably the key because the happy hour is so short. All wine bottles below $100 or half off all pizzas are half off which is quite a steal. We ordered the mushroom and the potato pizza and I would definitely get them again. The pizzas are good size and the dough is very fluffy. We also ordered some apps like the stracciatella which was mindblowingly good, had great balance with the tomato jam, cheese and balsamic. The Caesar salad was also amazing, we added the anchovies too. They have a few spots in their parking lot, but there’s also street parking too.

This Italian restaurant is a true culinary experience and indulgence you don’t want to pass up. I’ve never had such a good experience with a restaurant before. First off, the stracciatella is absolutely divine—rich, creamy, and melts in your mouth. The bread underneath has the perfect garlic and buttery flavor that isn't overpowered by a butter flavor like many other restaurants make their bread. Eating either on its own is delicious, but putting them together is pure magic. Hidden beneath the cheese are slices of peaches that add a hint of sweetness, providing another level of flavor to the dish. The mushroom pizza here is equally impressive, with the flavor getting better with each bite. Yes, it might be burnt, and the mushrooms have a jerky-like texture, but somehow, these imperfections add to the experience. The flavors shine through on the second bite, compelling you to reach for another slice, and before you know it, you're almost regretting how much you've eaten. To top it all off happy hour means the pizzas are all half off!

Cristina M
Cristina M

If you have 5+ I recommend a reservation, the smaller parties will most likely have a wait. The wine list is I’ve 10 pages long of mostly by the bottle which was way too much to look at while waiting for a table. The information on the wines is definitely for those in the know beyond what I thought I did from living in wine country. So I found it a little stressful to choose from the very limited by the glass. I understand it’s a small place and not everyone orders wine so opening a bottle for a glass can be wasteful for them but it is a pizza and Italian foods restaurant so it would be nice to see some better by the glass options to pair with pizza. Enough about the wine- The pizza is outstanding - fresh everything and the mozzarella tasted like it was just made. The crust is also the best. All in wood fire oven. It gets hot in there making you wish for a couple of fans - it’s from the oven heat I’m sure. I loved the pizza as well as the nice cold Caesar made so fresh!

Red pie. Neapolitan style; one of the best pizzas in Austin. Amazing happy hour. Fresh ingredients, good wine list and vibe. While my go-to is a NY slice, I would gladly take Bufalina any day. To address a couple of points from other reviews: 1) Service and wait times: Every popular restaurant in Austin is busy, including the ones that take reservations and book out months in advance, so yes prepare for a wait esp. at happy hour. Service has always been good so far and relatively fast. Staff always friendly. Have been during the week and prime time happy hour on a Saturday. 2) Quality: Ingredients are really good, definitely not overrated. Pizza crust has a perfect balance of chew and crunch, not too thick. Pizzas are spot-on for Neapolitan style and have an interesting range of toppings. Good wine selection. Salads and dessert are also solid. 3) Price: This isn’t papa john’s or the “by the slice joint,” it’s a restaurant. Pizzas will probably run you around $15-20, but that’s become a pretty standard fare to dine out in the US unfortunately. If price is a factor, try the happy hour, it’s a really good deal!

Bufalina is another gem I found in Austin, TX while visiting different restaurants. Now parking spaces are limited so park on the street and then be ready to wait on a busy night as the restaurant is very small. The seating arrangement is styled in a way that you are seated on a long table with everybody. Now you can sit at the bar and some individual tables but those are usually occupied. Next is your pizza which is worth the wait on a busy night. You get different options and their pizza tastes delicious and mouthwatering. We had the mushroom pizza with caramelized onions and it was great. I'd also recommend you to talk to the server to decide your pizza. Now these pizzas are thin crust so for some people its not completely filling. Furthermore, bufalina has an impressive collection of wine and while you wait you can enjoy some wine. It's a little expensive as it's not that much in quantity but its delectable and worth a try!

Great atmosphere, intimate one room restaurant with pizza oven visible and in front of customers. They do not take reservations for parties less than 8. They do have several tables with communal style seating and also have some bar seats. The burrata was amazing! Extensive wine list. Pizza was delicious, we got the margarita, and mushroom pizza. Great date night place !

Outstanding wood-fired pizza—arguably the best in Austin. The crust is perfectly charred, toppings are top quality, and the bibb salad is fresh, crisp, and ideal for sharing. Great wine selection and attentive service add to the experience. The space is lively (sometimes loud), and the chairs aren’t the most comfortable for a long dinner, but it’s absolutely worth it. A must-visit spot. Be prepared to wait during peak hours—this place fills up fast.

Tried the Margherita and the Mushroom with caramelized onions pizzas. Margherita was goood, the sauce was a little tangy for my palate but still enjoyed it. Was a bit disappointed by the mushroom, given it was much recommended in the reviews and I typically like a mushroom pizza but this one didn't work for me. Maybe it was the capers on it or the lack of a base - not sure. Friday night had a lot of waiting go early! 4-5.30 is happy hrs and half off pizza apparently

Bufalina: the name itself pertains to multiple Italian ingredients in smaller version with the diminutive “-ina”.... the bufalo mozzarella being the best mozza one can use, the bufalo tomato being the best beefy huge tomato used for mozza salads. All these can only make you expect the best of ingredients and they do serve it to you with the most attentive customer service while having the smooth coolness of hipsters. We drove downtown to try out one of the best pizza places in Austin and were pleased with the smell of spices and fresh ingredients that welcome you at the door: fresh basil, well ripes tomatoes, lengthy slices of parmeggiano almost transparent enough to see underlining lakes of melted mozzarella. My bonus: their chilli soaked oil. I slightly disliked the sourness of the dough but that’s my personal taste after tasting so many yummy pizzas in Italy, France and NY. Big bonus: the space is polyvalent to welcome dates as much as families and friends gatherings. And the real traditional pizza oven that gives you that unique crusty thin pizza. Triple big bonus: The staff including the owner were not only kind, customer-focused but also very attentive and well aware of the client’s diet restrictions even before I could spell it out. They offered to remove an ingredient while i was looking at the menu before even mentioning anything. Grazie mille! Era splendido!

Happy hour wine deal is great. Pastas and pizzas are very good. Staff is hit or miss, some have an attitude like if you came off the street begging for food and they’re doing you a favor. Others are super nice. If service was good all around it would be a solid 5 stars.

This was our first time here, let's get the bad thing out of the way, which was how crowded it was, felt like we needed to eat with our elbows tucked, people kept bumping me as I was trying to eat or drink, the bread and butter was good, Bread Crust was hard and very difficult to tear apart and eat. We had the Red Dish pizza, Now That was a treat, we really loved it, you could taste all the flavors they added, it was a pizzadelight, I would go back just to have that again or try the others they have on the menu. Makes my heart happy. Now the staff, they are amazing, they checked on us regularly without being pushy, I loved the hosts who would randomly just 💃 dance. 5 stars to all the staff..

The pizza was one of the best we had in Austin. We got the mushroom pizza and pasta substituted meat with mushrooms. Absolutely loved the flavors. However, the portion size of pasta was very small, it wasn’t enough even for one person and it was $22. Other than that, the ambience and food everything was great!

The pizzas are delicious! What a great find we had! It's a small place and maybe you'll have to wait, we got right before 4pm and were lucky getting the last available seats. The service is super friendly and quick. The pizzas are made right there in the moment. The vibe is so cool and relaxed. Highly recommend this place!

Dined at Bufalina finally, a place I have wanted to visit for a few years now. After a wait of nearly an hour, we were seated. Service was fast and efficient. Ordered the Caesar salad (amazing large plate, definitely a worth try dish), had a red pie with pepperoni (great tasting Neapolitan pizza with lots of pepperoni) and a pasta dish (smaller portin and felt it was too dry). The place is known for a huge wine selection but did not try any. The only miss was when we requested for black pepper for the caesar salad, it was given in a small bowl, how about using fresh peppercorn and a grinder! It felt a bit anti climatic. A good place to visit but with so many good pizza to be had around Austin, I am sure it will be a while before I get back to Bufalina.

I have been here thrice now. I really enjoy the pizza’s here, Fresca being my favourite. But the pasta portion wasn’t great at all, it felt like a rip off to be honest. The seating is fine I guess, not that great. It’s a casual low-key place. Parking is limited, and reservations are highly recommended if going on weekend.

This was the best food we’ve ate while in Austin and also one of the best pizzas I’ve had in general. Thin dough, topped with good quality and fresh ingredients and most importantly it wasn’t greasy - as a whole it was a really good Neapolitan pizza. However I need to echo other reviews mentioning awful service, the owner who was serving us was quite rude and made us feel very uncomfortable. The restaurant was also super loud but we didn’t plan on staying for too long so it wasn’t a massive issue.

This place serves one of the best Neapolitan pizza in Austin. The vodka and Fresca pizza we ordered came in with bubbly crust and rich sauce. We liked everything especially the decadent stracciatella and their extensive wine list

I don’t really have any complaints about Bufalina but it didn’t blow my skirt up. My personal preference for pizza is New York style and Bufalina is Neopolitan style. The flavors were good but I don’t love a soft bottom crust. The Bibb salad was amazing though and I would definitely recommend ordering it. I was too hungry to get a picture, unfortunately. I say check it out since it’s a popular Austin spot! But prepare to order a drink at the bar and wait (unless you get there when they open at 4:00). They do not take reservations for groups smaller than 8.

Their menu came on a piece of printer paper and a 10-page menu for their wines. The food was okay we ordered the margarita pizza which the tomato sauce was a bit watery and the Caesar salad was good. The actual place is a bit crammed and too close to everyone. Service wise they were attentive but a little weird. There's also a 3.5% "wellness tip" added onto the bill— 6/10.

Overall score 3.1 out of 5 Personally, I think this place is overrated. The long wait with the DPRK vibe just to get seating is ridiculous. Our server was nice. The stracciatella was phenomenal. The brown butter agnolotti was just ok. But man oh man the pizza was nothing special. The dough was OK, but the crust was nothing spectacular, sauce was OK, cheese was really good. I personally would not come back for the pizza, but would definitely get the stracciatella again. Parking is super tough which is fine if the place was spectacular but, like I said before the long wait with the vibe of feeling like you’re just an inconvenience being there with OK pizza was just a deal killer for me.

No ceasar salad, so we tried another salad, which was very tart soaked in a mustard vinegarete. The pizza was good with a light red sauce, authenticly cooked in wood oven

Not gluten free friendly or dog friendly. We were treated really poorly when we brought in a documented service dog. The hostess was particularly rude with questions, despite me offering documentation (which I legally don’t have to do)

Over 2 hour wait and we arrived at 5 25 pm. We were told 1 hour wait and they kept delaying it. BEST PIZZA EVER THOUGH! The pizza is truly one of the best I had in Austin and our server was super nice and attentive, This would have been an easy 5 star review if it wasnt for the wait. I understand a popular place will have a wait but saying it will be 1 hour but then actually have it be over 2 is not acceptable. They said others have been waiting for 3 hours and that people are still eating and taking a long time. This restaurant had been open for a while so they should know better by this point or give people a time limit at the table. If you want to get dessert I highly recommend the chocolate mousse.

I gave this spot a try after eating at the burnet location. This time was slightly better but overall just only fair. The pizzas were half off on happy hour which in my opinion is the price to pay for what you get. The staff gave an overall strange vibe and felt like we were not welcome. Seeing them not in a uniform or have any unity in their dress code was off putting. The pizzas were ok, not great, not poor, just ok. Half the menu doesn’t have sauce on the pizza and a bunch don’t have mozzarella cheese which is bizarre. I would be cognizant of that when you order and you will find yourself adding on ingredients to make the full pizza which also seemed like the standard. If you try this spot, make sure you’re in time for the happy hour.

It’s…ok This is, quite probably, the best Neapolitan-style pizza in Austin. That said, that is a subjective statement, objectively speaking, it’s…ok. The crust isn’t terribly flavorful, and a little dry ti my taste, but, *but*, it’s better than anything else you’ll get in Austin Basically, YMMV

I feel like this place has lost its luster. We did go during SXSW (so trying to have some grace) but they were not super busy. They told us it would be 30-45 minutes when we arrived but we ended up waiting about 20. Once we sat down we were hungry so ordered almost immediately. Our salad came out minutes later. Their Caesar is good and a great portion. We ordered the tuna tartare appetizer and it was small for its price. The pesto pasta was a laughably small portion to the point where I thought the other plate in the waiters hand was our one portion split in half. Nope, we paid $16 for like 8 noodles. Then we waited. And waited and waited for our pizza. Over an hour while our waitress was suddenly avoiding us. She then comes up to us and remarks that our pizzas will be right out and to apologize for the delay. I see her go over to the guy at the pizza oven and point back to our table and eh shakes his head. I guess they had some turnover in kitchen shifts and our order fell thru the cracks. The pizza came out and was good, not great. I just kept thinking about Show me Pizza and their pillowy dough and delicious toppings. They sent out a desert to apologize for the delay and we attempted to get the bill for another 20 minutes and left. We were not super satisfied with the visit and am sad to see a former favorite not living up to the hype anymore

Biased because I’m Italian but the pizza was ok. Staff was kind, the waiter poured our beers in the glasses and asked for our order. The venue is a little noisy, parking right in front of the restaurant. Why the prices online don’t match the menu they bring to the table? Wood fire makes the pizza looking good, smelling good and add the tough of tradition. The only negative things was that the “pizzaiolo” was using the phone and right after preparing pizza 🤷🏻‍♂️

It has the best pizza, I can honestly say that. The Caesar salad is also perfect. The only issue is the service—it wasn’t what I expected, unfortunately. They do have a happy hour, which is nice for trying different options, with half off pizzas. When I went for the first time a month ago, all the pizzas I ordered were discontinued. This time, only the first pizza was discontinued, which felt kind of weird. I’m not sure if they changed something, but I didn’t see anything on the menu about only the first pizza being half off.

This happy hour used to be a good deal. Not anymore. The half-off price is only on "select" pizzas (there are only like three, and none of them have meat), and their wine deals are a glass of their shitty house red/rosé for $8 or half-off on a bottle (starting at $54). Waitstaff was cold and impersonal but pushy, and kept asking if we wanted to add things or get extras for the pizza, without mentioning that they'd cost money (we declined, as we saw the prices on the menu). The waiter filled my water cup EVERY SINGLE TIME he came by even though we had a carafe we could pour from on the table, frowning, not saying anything, and not making eye contact with us. I would've asked if he could just pour it straight into my mouth or something if he'd looked like he had a sense of humor. Probably won't come back. Felt cold, millennial, and like it was trying too hard to be posh. Not very Austin. Pizza was good, though.

I'm between 3-4 stars for this place because I loved the pizza but the service was not 4 stars. We loved the mushroom pizza. It was the absolute perfect blend of toppings in my opinion. They serve a Neapolitan-style pizza —perfectly blistered crust, high-quality ingredients, and a menu that knows how to keep things simple and stellar. But the service? It borders on indifferent, and was timed not for our convenience but theirs. I was still chewing my last bite when they cleared the plates and they wiped the table while I was still eating though my partner had finished. You’ll get your food, but don’t expect warmth or much patience with questions. Still, the pizza is solidly delicious. Come for the pie, not the hospitality.

This place used to be somewhere I took EVERYONE who visited or lives in Austin. The happy hour is 50% off bottles of wine & pizza which is fantastic but you need to get there at 4pm sharp to eat before it ends at 530pm. Even full prices it is still worth it. The best caesar salad in Austin by far & the wood fire pizza is chefs kiss & innovative with flavors. The tomato jam is also superb and all the pizzas are amazing. The wine list is also all natural wines & incredibly well done. The unfortunate reason my review has gone from 5 stars to 3 is the service. It is by far the WORST service in Austin & I have eaten here at least 25 times and it is always the same. One time the host told my party they were “not comfortable telling us” when asked how many parties were in front of us as it was an hour wait, even though we were seated ten minutes later and there were no parties ahead of us. Just strange as that is your job (former host here) The servers tend to be cold & seem annoyed when you ask for anything & unlike most of Austin will not casually chat with you whatsoever, very conveyer belt. My recommendation is going in when you have a crappy day & let the food uplift you but the service will at least not make your day worse. Wish the management would ask the team to provide real authentic Austin service instead of New York we’re too cool for you service. Once the service improves, this review would go back to 5 stars. Also would like to note that bufalina due up north has great service so go there if you can.

The food was incredible however, I found it incredibly uncomfortable that the host who seated us had on a political shirt referencing Israel and Gaza. Not only was it the 7th night of Hanukkah but there have been multiple terrorist attacks on the Jewish community this past week. It felt offensive, disrespectful and very unprofessional. It did not feel like an inclusive place where Jews are welcome.

Came here on a Saturday night around 5:30pm and were told our wait would be around 1.5 hours. You can wait at their bar or walk around and check out other stuff near by. We ordered the Caesar salad and two marinaras with anchovies on them. The Caesar salad was delicious. It was crunchy, light, and not overdressed. There were only 4 anchovies on it which was a bit disappointing. The pizza was disappointing. The sauce was really acidic and when you have a pizza with only sauce, garlic, and basil, the sauce and dough really make or break the pizza. The basil they used was dried basil, which I was hoping for fresh. The pizza was too undercooked for me. The dough was really chewy and lacked flavour. I asked for olive oil (which I was charged $1 for) to help give the pizza more flavour. We asked if we could add anchovies. When we got the bill, it turned out to add anchovies cost as much as the pizza. Our pizza was only $14 and to add anchovies was $12. Our total bill water tip was $91. The staff took off the anchovies from our bill after I brought up how it was never mentioned that I’d be paying double for my pizza so I really appreciate the gesture. But overall, the pizza and experience was a big 2 for me.

I don’t generally leave negative reviews. As someone who works in food service and serves and bartends in downtown Austin, I understand restaurants can have off nights. However, I was very disappointed in the service I received at Bufalina. I Visited Bufalina on Thursday for an evening dinner. The restaurant was nice, good atmosphere, nice host and quick seating. However, when the server approached she was very unfriendly and seemed to regard us with annoyance. It was earlier in the evening, still a few hours from close, so it was not related to a late walk-in. We asked a brief question about pizza sizing and were met with frustration (she seemed rushed though there were only 3 other tables seated). We ordered quickly, and after that did not see much of her for the rest of dinner. The manager ran our pizza and dropped it on the table without a word or greeting (odd). The order was also incorrect. She turned and walked away before we could inform her of this. I looked for a server or another manager in an attempt to let them know we were missing parts of what we ordered, but there was no one in sight. I will say, the pizza was good. We enjoyed it. A different manager eventually came by to clear our plates. Again, not a word, not a greeting, not a “how was everything.” Just a silent clear and she was gone. The server eventually came back by to bring our bill. Turns out we received our food the way it was rung in, signaling a server error rather than a kitchen or runner error. All in all I was a little taken aback. There was a coldness to the service, no friendliness, no greeting. The only warmth we received was from the host. I get that people can have off nights. Industry workers are humans and have their own lives and experiences, so I do understand that aspect of it first-hand. We were very kind and understanding, but I do think that there exists a bare minimum in hospitality, and this was not met. Management is also held to a higher standard, and it was shocking that they had no understanding of a correct table touch.

I've dined at this location before, enjoyed it very much. However, the last time I waited in line well before open and as it was my turn to be sat the host turned me away since I told them I wanted to sit at the bar for a glass of wine and order a pizza to go. I don't understand why I couldn't enjoy a seat at the bar for 20/ 30 minutes and tip accordingly for my whole bill. Host was very authoritarian. Very disappointed. Happy to dine at the Burnet location, staff is much more kind.

It was Date Night for us and we’ve been wanting to try Bufalina for a good while. Wildly disappointed all around. Service was probably the worst of it all. Server was absent, lacked enthusiasm, said maybe 6 words to us and was abase. Very disappointing considering Bufalina makes so many ‘Best Of’ lists. The ambiance is the epitome of the Austin dining scene which is dark, loud and cramped. We really only enjoyed the Stracciatella. The pie was not as amazing as I expected it to be. DeSano and even Dough (in SA) are better. IMO, go dine here to strike it off your list, then move on.

Delicious but the waiter was not kind. I said thank you one hundred times and I received not one “you are welcome” or acknowledgment. He poured water, he took our orders, he did his job but showed no kindness or a smile. That negatively impacted my experience. Furthermore I asked for hot sauce. He said we have chili oil. I said great. Then they bring me an unusually large amount of chili oil and I see at the very end a charge for $3 for chili oil. That is ridiculous. I won’t come back.

C
Cori Pace

Drove so far to come here and they said it was randomly “closed for the day” for a private dinner! I wish they would have posted it or had an advanced notice!

V
Vadym Orlov

Be careful during truffle week. They show you the menu, the lights are down, so you just see pasta for $19 and additionally you get added $40. Nobody told me that… so truffle menu is completely misleading. Sad to say bye to delicious pizza, but that was the last time my leg crossed that entrance. That place got +$40 by misleading menu and -frequent client.
