This family-owned restaurant has authentic Thai dishes that are always fresh & delicious! We love the Po Pear Tod chicken fried egg rolls, the Tom Kha chicken coconut milk soup & Gang Masaman curry chicken dishes. We have been customers for many years & are always happy to eat here & do take out orders too! Thank you for serving us such wonderful meals for years!
The food was so delicious definitely going to be a new regular spot for us. So glad my bf introduced me to this restaurant will be coming back !
We had a wonderful dining experience! The food was fresh, flavourful and beautifully presented. The staff we’re kind and friendly. Definitely a great place to enjoy authentic Thai food. We will surely comeback!
This is my favorite Thai restaurant. I love crab and cream cheese rolls. I will always come here to have pineapple fried rice,Basil fried rice and yellow curry. Coming to dessert there fried ice cream on fire and Black rice pudding are soo good! Trust me these place serves tasty Thai food!
My favorite restaurant in Austin and best Thai food by far. I have eaten here very many times and ALWAYS excellent. Pad kra pao, crispy basil duck, and curry dishes are my favorites. Fast, very friendly service. If you like Thai, this is a must try restaurant. Awesome, friendly Owners. A treasure of Northwest Austin.
if you told me to pick from all the best dishes in the world, muangthai would be my pick, not a grain of rice would be wasted, not a ounce of sauce left , with a smile from ear to ear i leave with a joy one could only compare to pure pleasure. i thank the stars everyday my gf introduced me to this place, i did not know flavor till i came here, while i have visited more times than i could count, i have only ever had one main dish. yet that is enough for me to beg you all to go for yourself, and try out their unbelievable food.
The food here is absolutely amazing every single time. I have never had bad meal here at this restaurant. This place might have made the best pad thai I’ve ever had. I really recommend it 1000%. Also, definitely try their sticky rice with egg custard because it’s just the perfect desert to end the a perfect meal.
Extremely accommodating and the food is great. I work at 2 different restaurants as kitchen manager and prep cook and i can confidently say that when i eat here i feel the love thats put into the cooking.
Today I ordered my fave fried rice with beef. Sue helped me with my order and the taste was so amazing and out of this world!! It had the perfect spice level and you could taste everything the beef was soft and sooo good!! Sue even recommended other dishes for me to try in the future. Thank you Sue I appreciate the excellent customer service you provided me with and also the food was amazing. I will definitely come back!! I highly recommend this place!!!
Always excellent food and friendly staff. Nice quiet music in the background. Plenty of space. They can make it spicy if you like it hot. They are quick to have meals ready for pickup or dining in.
I ordered Pad Kee Mao with 4 🌶 and its really hot and very tasty. The flat rice noodle is full of wok flavor (for those that appreciate Asian fried noodles/rice you know what i meant). They do have lunch menu served with soup or salad during weekdays. The tomyum soup is another highlight from thr restaurant. Will come back again soon.
Oh. My. Goodness. This was an excellent choice. Wow. Appetizer: Fried Dumplings "Fried wonton skin stuffed with ground pork, crab meat, and bamboo shoots. Served with sweet and sour black sauce." These were so delicious! Entree: Tom Yum Ta-lay Heang "Stir-fried scallops, shrimp, squid and mussels, basil, tomatoes, scallions and onions in house hot and sour sauce." The sauce in this dish was amazing! Recommended.
Editing Review - Based on owner acknowledgement of feedback and multiple recent delivery orders. We love this local restaurant and want it to be successful. TL;DR Lack of empathy for long time patrons - No accountability, with burden of proof put on customer for a trivial issue vs trusting feedback We have been long time customers of Muang Thai- Loved the food of this local small business. We went above and beyond during COVID years to support restaurant. For a loyal customer, we had a horrendous experience and felt disrespected by the owner. We ordered a take-out Gangree with Tofu. We found that there was no Tofu in the curry and potentially meat (chicken?). Called the restaurant and they said you can come back next day to get a new curry. If the inaccurate order wasn't enough where these guys did not take our dietary requirements into account, the next day they showcased disrespectful behavior. I had to explain thrice to different staff members on what had happened. I had to explain again to owner who wanted proof, rather than trusting word of long time customer. For a trivial $15.95 item, they have lost a long time customer/supporter. Plus, am attaching images as proof in this post, that substantiates my point. Understand that running a restaurant is hard and I have tremendous respect for owners/chef, but you have to be judicious in how you treat customers, when you are the one making mistake.
Server was polite and understood our order. Food took 50 minutes to get to us and as I was about to call it quits, it showed up. Presentation of food was great however my Pad Thai tasted a bit funny. Not bad but like not what I’m used to. I thought it had a ketchup base but after asking at checkout I was told it had paprika seasoning. Everything else was fine but the paprika took me by surprise. Next time I’ll order without the paprika as I feel like it shouldn’t be there. When we arrived the place was full in all the booths, and was part of the reason why our food was a bit tardy. I was also told a cook/server called out which was also the second reason food was a bit tardy. I gave it a 4/5 stars because of the tardiness and the odd paprika but everything else was delicious!
The atmosphere is a little different here but the food was great. I started off with some chicken eggrols, crispy on the outside delicious and tender on the inside these were gone 10 sec after they hit the table. The wonton soup was generous in portions and ingredients, sweet and tangy with nice chunks of bok choy and wontons. The yellow fried curry chicken rice was perfectly balanced with heat and spice. Will definitely be back again
Nice place on research boulevard. Nice atmosphere and good food. Tried basil fried rice with chicken and veggie spring rolls, both are good. Their choice of spice seasoning and hot sauce are really good. Fried rice well made and quick service. courteous lady at the checkout and very friendly staff. Tried their basil fried rice last night, arrived almost at closing but the food quality and taste were awesome. Made to taste and very courteous service
We have been going here for years, it’s one of our favorite Thai restaurants. Food has always been great, polite customer service. It used to be great portion size. Reason for a 3 star review is because we feel portion size the last 3-4 times we been there is very less. The first time that happened we thought may be whoever served made a mistake but soon learned that’s not the case. It used to be the case where we would have left over after lunch or dinner. Now we almost leave hungry or have to order more food to feel satisfied. Have heard the same from other colleagues who are regular customers. Hopefully owner takes a notice and addresses this concern.
Ordered curry with beef but received chicken instead. No one in our party enjoys chicken in water. Since we were already settled in hotel room after a long drive, I called and told them about discrepancy hoping to get a refund over the phone. I was asked to bring the food back for a refund. I thought it was ridiculous but ok'd it and told them I would bring it the next day. I placed it in the hotel refrigerator overnight, then brought it back the following day. All 3 + of the employees including the cook in the kitchen gathered and inspected my food in the kitchen for a while. It was only missing 1 cc of the soup, the amount needed to get consumed till exposing the wrong type of meat. The employee came out and finally gave me a refund to my credit card. She said she had to ask to bring the food back because in the past someone ate almost half of the food and brought half emptied container. It wasn't worth it if I add up the time I spent on the phone (had to talk to two different girls as the first one claimed she wasn't in charge), the time I had to drive there and finally the time I had to stand there awkwardly while they were inspecting the food. I think it was their attitude that turned me off further. The store was covered with little stickers on how we should 'support small businesses' , I can say their customer service mentality was a size small as well. It was obviously their fault but they weren't that apologetic, doubted me when I called them in the first place, and thought it was ok to make me stand there that long. Mistakes can happen and frankly I had received wrong orders from others more than a couple times in the past in my short life. However, no restaurants ever asked me to bring back the food for refund. I would gladly send pictures/videos over the phone or email if they ask for some kind of 'proof'. I also thought it was inappropriate when she told me a story about a customer who brought half emptied container. It doesn't matter if you ate 1% or 50% of the wrongly made food. I hope they didn't reuse my food for their lunch specials that day. All the other items we ordered were all mediocre at best. Later, I read several other reviews about getting wrong orders so I guess it happens quite often. It's a shame this place comes up as one of the top thai restaurants in town in doordash or google search.
First time there. Never going back. Food did not taste like any Thai food I have had before. Big chunks of onions on everything. Green curry was so bland and did not taste like green curry. Service was not good. The person who brought the food had his thumb touching the curry (see picture attached). Just horrible.
If y’all want some stir-fried chunk of plastic hiding in your food, this is the spot for you. It was the N2: Pad See Iew (perhaps the name of the dish should have been my first clue) – wide flat rice-noodles with egg, Chinese broccoli and chicken. The dish was so-so to begin with. But then the trifecta bite of Chinese broccoli with a bit of chicken and noodle turned into a CRISPY, CHEWY, CHUNK OF PLASTIC. It probably contained meat or veggie in it at some point. Yes, you want to vomit now? I certainly felt that way as it was IN MY MOUTH. This was an all spoons down moment at the dinner table. Staff were shocked and apologetic and said the meal was on them. Can’t go back. Just… can’t. Did y’all see the size of that chunk of plastic?!
