I'd give them 10 stars just for Trae, who took time to share some AMAZING advice on places to check out. The music vibe is fantastic and the avocado toast was delish but will have to check our Breakfast Quesadilla (recommended by Trae). Last, but certainly not least, check out the espresso martini was the best one here yet 🙌
First time, loved it. The coffee is excellent with great flavors and quality that really stand out. Service is top-tier, they're friendly, attentive, and consistent. The atmosphere is stylish and relaxed, making it a great spot to hang out, work, or unwind. Only issue was the amount of pride flags, but overall, its an easy place to come back to.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Halcyon — hands down the best coffee craft cocktails in town! Cozy vibes, killer espresso martinis, and a scene that always delivers. Can’t wait to come back for another round.
One of my favorite coffee spots downtown! I always had great experiences here and today was even more spectacular - I made an error in my order and the staff was so kind to correct it for me even though it was completely my fault. Highly recommend this place and the Thai Tea is THE BEST 😋
Had the Campfire S'mores coffee. Tasted as good as it looked, was a work of art! Has a matcha as well. It's my favorite place for food whenever I want the best coffee in Austin.
My sister and I used to come here for chocolate martinis back when we were grad students up at UT circa 2010-2012. I just visited Austin again and was so glad to be able to revisit Halcyon! Halycon remains one of my all-time favorite cafe/eatery/bars! 🧡💖🧡💖. Thanks for the “Partly Stormy,” and for the memories of a younger, more hopeful me. ✨ I drank alone on the patio and remembered how much I loved 4th Street, and my UT denim bucket hat successfully worked as a “Do Not Disturb” sign for everyone except a Canadian guy in town for a conference. And he just wanted to explain why he was taking pictures of a really cool looking bike in the bike rack right below my seat. It was, indeed, a pretty cool bike.
I had the greatest experience at this location! I stopped by mid day to do some studying and work and I was so well taken care of. Margaret specifically did an exceptional job making sure I was taken care of while I was doing my work. I will definitely visit again!
Went for the hot chocolate and was pleasantly delighted by everything from the staff to the atmosphere. Overall a great spot to stop by at if you’re looking for a chill spot with good music and good drinks/coffee
Dishwashing is awesome and it's a great place to dance chill out thank you for your hospitality am being awesome people if you come through Austin you need to definitely check out this place~Sweetleif
LOVE Rain on 4th!! It’s been my favorite gay bar in ATX for at least 6 years! Love Drea, Joshua, and my Adam!! Adam has been a constant at Rain my entire time being there and I can’t imagine him not being there! Love all the staff at the best bar in Austin!
Always have a great time here! Adam is by far my favorite bartender…Ritter is a close second 🤣 Karaoke night is my favorite night of the week…miss having Adam hosting…PUT ADAM AND MARS TOGETHER! 😄
Always such a good time to be had at rain! Specifically when the bartenders are good, specifically Adam!! Always has a smile, and makes amazing drinks. ☺️ Ps. Would love to see a comeback of some sort with Adam at karaoke!! 😉
Bobby and Robert are exceptional bartenders. They make every guest feel special, remembering names with ease and consistently getting every drink just right. Their service is truly unmatched.
Be sure to stop in for a fun time with your staff at Rain. Dance the night away and check out Bobby he’s AWESOME 👍🏽. Along, with all staff! Make sure to stop in and see him at front bar.
Love it here. I come a lot and it’s nice to meet people. I stepped on a piece of glass because I took my heels off for 5 seconds, and the staff descended upon me in such a caring way. They got the glass out and wrapped my foot up, it was nice of them. The music is typically very good as well.
Rain is a hot spot! It’s been open 20 years and a safe place for the community to dance and be free. It has 4 different areas throughout the club so you can find where you vibe! Lighting and dance floor is insane with a great staff that represents everyone in the LGBTQIA+ Community. Check it out for great drink specials during the week along with drag shows and karaoke. Weekends are popping with more entertainment including go-go dancers! I’ve been going and a part of this club since they opened 🫶🏼
Rain on 4th is a must see visit gay club in Austin! The energy is electric, the crowd is fun and welcoming, and the music keeps the dance floor packed all night. The drag shows are fierce, the drinks are strong, and the vibe is nothing but good. Whether you’re a local or just visiting, Rain is the perfect place to let loose, dance, and feel the love. 10/10 recommend! 💃🏽🕺🏼🍸
Rain has been my home bar for 18 years. They have given me a safe space for my entire adulthood, hosted our going away party, multiple charity events, and countless celebrations. They are also the best place on a Friday, Saturday, and Sunday in Austin. The drinks flow, the entertainment is top tier, the dance floor is sweaty sexy. Definitely check them out!
Had our wedding after party at Rain and it was the best way to end such a special night. Bobby took care of us 100% and was super helpful and attentive. He arranged bottle service for us and a lounge area. The set up was perfect for us and our guests and we never had to ask for anything because it stayed stocked and ready to go constantly. Bobby is the best! Thank you Bobby!
Visited with some friends for a party last weekend. The DJ (Dallas Downs) was amazing, his music kept my friends and I on the dance floor all night. The lights and music quality alone would keep us coming back. The staff were attentive and the drinks were good. The energy and people were so enjoyable. And the bathrooms were CLEAN (rare). One of the bathroom stalls wasn't closing which the staff learned after a bouncer was sent to check on two people being in one stall. (One was holding the door closed). I was impressed by how quickly they went to check out that issue. I would absolutely go there again. As a woman, I felt safe and happy to be there. My girls and I had zero issues with anyone getting too handsy or weird. I loved visiting Rain on 4th!
If any of you wanna have a great night life at 4th Street, go to Rain 😃🪩🕺🏽! People here always bring great vibes to the dance floor, bars, & hangout area whether visitors or the staff people. Rain is so chill & fun to be at y’all; spice up y’all’s weekend over there. You wont regret it.
Halcyon is such a cute little spot—part coffee shop, part cocktail bar, and all-around great vibes. I didn’t get a chance to try the food, but the atmosphere alone makes it worth the visit. Cozy, stylish, and perfect for hanging out, working, or just enjoying the scene. And the espresso martinis? Amazing. Smooth, balanced, and honestly some of the best I’ve had. Whether you’re in the mood for caffeine, cocktails, or just a chill place to unwind, Halcyon hits the mark.
Stumbled into Sunday drag brunch with only 2 singles!!! What a bummer! We'll be back to make it rain. Great crowd, femcee and performers. Oh yeah drinks--good ones.
So this place has been here for ever I feel & it looks it. The place could use a little polishing up. It round take much to make this place shine. Super chill vibe, they have done games you can play with like domino's battleship and cards. They have a full bar with some Cafe bites. I ordered their long Island coffee drink that has a limit of two. The first tasted pretty good and strong the second one I don't think the person knew how to make it. It tasted like regular Iced coffee. A $10 Iced coffee 😏 Hubby ordered an old fashioned with brandy he said it was pretty good. He also ordered a sandwich with a bag of potato chips. They have cute little smores kit if you want to have an interactive kind of experience. I've been to their newer location and have to say it's cozier here but a little less polished if you don't mind that than make sure to stop in
Delicious Coffee. I loved the Matcha Latte. We went early morning on a Saturday. There were not many customers at the time. Service was quick. Mid-century modern decor. We ordered avacado toast and breakfast tacos. It was good. They serve cocktails too.
Decided to stop by while waiting for a table at the nearby Roosevelt Room and had a very relaxing time. The vibe inside is definitely coffee shop first, bar second, and overall fairly chill. The seating space inside was large and accommodating, and drink service was very fast. I particularly liked the wall of liquors behind the bar, with a respectable selection regardless of where you go, and very respectable when considering the coffee shop environment. I'd recommend stopping by!
Halcyon is one of those downtown spots that works for almost anything—coffee in the afternoon, a casual meet-up, or cocktails later at night. The vibe is laid-back but still feels “downtown,” with plenty of seating and a solid patio for people-watching on 4th Street. Drinks are well-made, and it’s nice having food options too (the tabletop s’mores are a fun add-on if you’re hanging with friends). It can get busy on weekends, but overall it’s a dependable, easy choice when you want a relaxed bar-lounge feel without the club chaos.
Outstanding prices for downtown, happy hour Sunday is the best prices for drinks I've seen in any area of Austin. Has outdoor seating. Bartenders could be a bit quicker. Maybe stop talking and focus on getting drinks out.. No line and having to stand and wait 11 min and 9min for a drink is not good.. Doesn't seem long when writing this but stand and watch someone talk about whatever for just a few mins will be frustrating, 10min seems like forever..
Still one of my fun bars downtown—great vibe and always a good time. That said, it could use a little extra attention: the patio fan hasn’t worked in a while, the inside could use a DEEP clean paired with a much needed AC filter change. With a bit more upkeep, this place could really shine again.
Rain is a fun 4th Street staple for a night out downtown—high-energy music, a friendly crowd, and lots of themed nights that keep things interesting. The vibe is welcoming, the DJs usually keep the dance floor moving, and the patio/outdoor area is nice when you need a break from the noise. The dance floor can feel a bit tight when it’s packed, but the overall atmosphere and staff make it worth it. Solid choice for dancing, celebrating, or bringing friends from out of town.
Honestly, ordered the avocado toast, got guac (like actual mashed guac with pico de gallo & jalapeño bits) on soggy white toast and it took 20 mins to come out. $14 insane! Nothing is made fresh, the barista was unenthused and said everything is prepped night before so even though they have an egg burrito on the menu they can’t make eggs as a side.
The real bad experience one could have just by seeing the outer appearance, I am sure would never come back here, just got betrayed by the name as was looking for coffee. The wait was real long for just coffees, secondly as waiting for the coffees went to the washroom the washroom which is not clean could have the worst and the upbeat kitchen ever. Just wonder their food how would it look after seeing the pictures uploaded. Their coffee was just a a regular one didn’t even taste well. Would never come back again.
I’ve been coming to this coffee shop for since I moved to Austin, and it used to feel like my little safe space. The atmosphere was always warm and welcoming, thanks to the familiar faces behind the counter who made every visit feel personal. Unfortunately, it doesn’t feel the same anymore. With the old employees gone, the energy has shifted, and the aura that made this place so special is missing.
I have never been to a place with more rude employees than this one. I live nearby and wanted to like it. Just walked in there this morning and had the guy at the front just grumble at me "I'm busy. Not taking your order" without even looking up. This is the third time I've gotten some weird attitude after daring to step foot inside. Never again.
I normally do not leave negative reviews, but I feel it’s important to share this experience due to the seriousness of the situation. During my visit, the staff was extremely rude and dismissive. I became separated from my brother inside the establishment and was trying to locate him. Instead of helping, the staff asked me to leave without explanation. We later learned that they had removed my brother from the premises and left him outside on the side of the road, despite him clearly not being okay. When we expressed our concerns and asked for assistance, the staff showed no care or urgency for our safety or well-being. Instead, they continued to treat us disrespectfully and asked us to leave again. They also claimed my friends and I were “too intoxicated,” which was entirely untrue, we had one drink and were simply enjoying ourselves. This was an extremely unprofessional and unsafe experience. The lack of empathy, communication, and basic concern for customer safety is unacceptable. I hope management addresses these issues so no one else has to go through a situation like this.
If you are not a white person you are not welcome, I was asked by security how many drinks I had when I watched almost my entire friend group and many others not be asked about their drink count. It was almost ridiculous to see security ask me this, when there was clearly individuals that were overly intoxicated that they let inside their bar. I am assuming for racial reasons they had to perform a more enhanced security check on me a minority individual individual. 0/10 avoid if you are a person of color, even if it matters on 6th street.
*Caution* I participated in the strip show. I should have won by cheers but they choose to not even put me in the top three. Do not participate in the strip show it’s rigged. And the drag queens who run it do it on a consistent basis.
But yes thank y’all for discrimination towrds my husband cause he’s straight. We have gay friends who we love so much they even came to our wedding one manager was happy to hire my husband and the other said it’s a problematic cause they hired a straight person before and turned out to be a bad Apple so he thinks straight men are just bad apples. Hope y’all don’t tell that to the next person and come across some one who can lawyer up we won’t but that’s illegal to be discriminating thanks guys
