I want to share my personal experience over the years eating at this place to hopefully help others find a great restaurant they can enjoy for years to come. About five years ago I moved to the area. Being new and not knowing many of the local restaurants, I ordered Uber Eats pretty consistently. Raku was one of the spots I found early on. At the time, they always had a BOGO special going, and I probably ordered from them at least twice a week. I honestly couldn’t believe the quality I was getting for the price. That went on consistently for about 2–3 years. Even though I had never actually eaten inside the restaurant during that time, I genuinely loved the food. Fast forward to about a year ago when I finally decided to dine in. I was greeted by an incredibly friendly staff, our waiter was phenomenal, and the food was absolutely delicious. It was already great ordering through Uber Eats, but eating there in person was on another level. While we were dining, the manager Kevin and the owner G both came by several times to make sure everything was going well and that we were enjoying the food. The owner even brought me some complimentary Kizami wasabi, which is freshly chopped wasabi marinated in soy sauce. It was a total game changer! If you visit, I highly recommend asking for the Kizami wasabi. Just be careful, it definitely has a kick. I also asked about where they source their fish, and I was really impressed to learn that they import fish and supplies from Japan weekly. You can absolutely taste the quality in every bite. Long story short, for as busy as this place gets, with the constant traffic of students and regular customers, and being open late many nights, it’s extremely hard to beat the quality of sushi they provide, the atmosphere, and the friendliness of everyone who works there. Just keep in mind they can be very busy on most nights, but they always make sure you’re taken care of and that the food meets a high standard. If you go, here are some dishes I highly recommend: - Dark Night Roll - Zesty Roll - Hottie Girl Roll - Chicken Karaage - Spicy Sake Toro (my personal favorite) - Tonkotsu Ramen (honestly the most underrated ramen in town) - Any of the nigiri, but especially the fatty salmon! Definitely check it out!

All the wait staff was amazing. Was just getting really busy in there as we got in. Food was amazing. Got 4 different rolls and miso soup. Recommend the Dynamite Roll, Spicy Fish Roll... I don't remember the names of the other two. Pricing is fair, and during happy hour you get a Buy One Get One Free on their Specialty Rolls. Parking is street parking and it is located on a one way street. Definitely worth the walk if you have to walk a little ways.

Food was pretty good! Got sushi rolls and the crab rangoons. The sushi was good and portion size was not bad. Only thing is that the crab rangoons had little to no filling, but the dough was tasty.

This place is always great! The crispy rice and salmon is awesome and the sushi always tastes great. I haven’t really ordered a bad thing at Raku. Deserves higher than an 3.8 especially for the price point. Emily is awesome as well. Great service!

I have to say I'm a little surprised by all the negative reviews... Not to discredit them, but my friend and I have been here multiple times and we absolutely love Raku. Some rolls are better than others, but every time we visit, we have a great experience. My absolute FAVORITE roll has to be the Bevo, but there are so many options to explore that you could spend forever and a day ordering there. I WILL say that last time we visited, the service left something to be desired (we watched our server play on her phone for several minutes when our sushi was ready for "delivery"), but that was an irregularity, not a norm for us here. :)

I was skeptical at first trying a sushi spot next to the University campus because sometimes the quality of food tends to lack, however I found Raku to be a good spot for affordable quick sushi. The service is quick and nice and the food was good for the price. Not to mention the bogo deal was good. I spent about $30 just by myself with 2 rolls (one of them was bogo) and an order of salmon sashimi .

Asked for a million different things in a big group and in a bunch of waves and they were really nice and delivered everything. The sushi also tasted great. We got spider roll, eel, and shrimp. The sake tasted great too. Their crab wontons tasted great as well and I think my friends liked their miso, egg drop soup, deep fried cheesecake, and beef over rice.
