Another amazing night and our favorite way to bring in the new year. I love how the owner walks around and talks to you when he is able and after a little small talk recommends a cocktail to try he thinks you will like, but I'm sure he's pretty busy and may not get to everyone. But when he does it's an amazing personal touch. I said I liked a certain brand of whisky and he brought down two bottles and let me try both to see which one I liked. Really amazing personal touch to all around wonderful customer service by all the staff. But, even better then the 1st class customer service is the food. Wow. Great pairings and a very different menu to give a sense of occasion to any night out. I am not much of an extravagant food eater and cook most of my own food, but even I know this is not normal food. This is an elevated form and design of food. The ambiance is cozy but spirited. There is a great comfortable energy to the place, with good lighting and comfortable atmosphere. If you've never been and you want to go, I'd recommend dressing up a bit. If you have some nice clothes you don't get to wear to much, this place is a great place to wear your fancy dress or new suite. I had the duck which is pictured and loved it.
It's a wonderful place. I'm sure I'm adding to the stack of stellar reviews as this place is an Austin staple. Mood lighting and cozy booths to offer an intimate feel. Fantastic service from our server, who also had excellent recommendations. We only popped in for drinks but ended up getting some bites to snack on. The bone marrow and frites is a dish after my own heart, I love it when that is on a menu. The special marrow spoons were also a nice addition, I have not seen in many places. Steak tartare is not my thong but my friend loved it and couldn't get enough. The cocktail menu is BIG so take time to peruse the menu. I didn't get a chance to snap photos of my drinks but they have a fig Manhattan that is pretty potent and unique. I myself enjoyed many French 75s. Love the variety and the vibe here I will definitely be back.
I had made a reservation for the next evening with my friends and colleagues. I stopped by the night before to check the place out and it met all of my expectations. The bartender was knowledgeable, made excellent craft cocktails, and had good recommendations for what to do in Austin while in town for a conference. The next night, six of us had dinner there and the food was fantastic. The one was delicious and well priced. The bourbon selection is excellent and more than fairly priced. Their cocktails are top of the line. Consider trying one with absinthe. See the video for the classic presentation. Their Weller 12 year is very well priced.
Visiting from Dallas and wanted a place to get yummy cocktails. It was suggested we come here, and boy are we happy we listened. If your just getting drinks, sit at the bar, the bartenders are great company. The drinks are delicious and unique. Prices are reasonable for what you get. Keep in my this to not 6th St. You're gonna pay more than $5 for a drink. But you're not going to get gut rot the next morning. The old fashioned is fantastic. Made the correct way with a large ice cube and strong. It's our go to beverage to see the quality of the bartender and the restaurant. I also had an adult milkshake. YUM! You really can't go wrong here. We didn't eat any food, but it all looked delicious as it passed us by.
A dining experience that will keep you wanting more. We first visited this great establishment for my birthday dinner, we were instantly blown away by the decor and atmosphere, and happy to say didn't stop there. The service is welcoming, professional, and unlike what one may have the pleasure of normally. Robb, or server/ host to the evening, took such care of us aiding with the selection process along with their executive chef also Rob. 😀 Together this tag team made my celebratory evening special and memorable. Fast forward two weeks later, we decided to celebrate my boyfriend's birthday there and had the pleasure of both Robs once again! From then on we have designated this culinary gem our "date night"spot. Thank you deeply Robb, you make each time an experience to be desired till the next go around. We look forward to exploring more of this beautifully thought out menu. Deviled eggs, bone marrow, world class burger, duck, etc. ..
Came here for a little nightcap for my husband‘s 30th birthday. We were attended by Samsung and I have to say it was the best customer service and drinks and experience were 10/10. This place is definitely a banger. Experienced bartenders and loved learning about the pre- prohibition drinks
I have eaten at this great restaurant several times and have enjoyed it every time. Great wait staff to help you through your adventure from the menu to the wine list . If you're having a lazy Sunday , drop by for Happy Hour at 5pm . Great 1/2 price 1/2 pound hamburgers with great fries , yummy. Looking forward to my next visit until then Bon appetit everyone.
Rob and his team run one of the finest establishments in Austin, and in the days of overpaying for $25+ cocktails and the city overun by hospitality groups taking over with their basic themes and food. Peche still offers the best drinks for price and good food combinations that don't make your wallet cry. Thanks Rob for taking the time to go through a receipt for me recently. When I'm working on the lake as a tour guide I'll be sure to bring up Peche more, it's definitely my go to spot in Austin to hang with friends. French 75 and Bees Knees ftw! Also get the burger for happy hour and Escargot and mac and cheese
This place is incredible! We ordered the pommes frites with homemade ketchup, beef tartare, lentils, duck, and bananas foster. Everything was seriously delicious. We were so impressed by the level of cuisine, especially for the price point. The cocktails were fab as well. Our server, Ben, was helpful and easy to chat with. This will be a new Austin staple for us when we come to visit. Can’t wait to return!
Went for a light dinner - had two great cocktails as well as oysters, deviled eggs and Caesar salad - wanted to try other dishes but the eggs and salad were a bit rich. I think I would opt for the beet salad next time. Son enjoyed the fries (oh the limits of a teenage vegetarian palate, lol) - great vibe - chill bar - totally worth a visit if in austin
Absolutely my favorite restaurant in Austin. They have the best Mac and cheese and French onion soup. My favorite drink is the pink moon but Austin (the bartender) makes a mean mojito. On my birthday, the chef saw me googling stuff about the menu, came over and explained the process and ingredients. It was incredible!
The food was absolutely delicious and the drinks were on point. The entire meal I'm sure the guest next to us were interested in what I was having, because I couldn't help but let out moans of satisfaction from how good everything tasted. The Mac and Cheese with the Duck Confit, yes please!!!! The techniques with the cooking can be appreciated by any level cook, and considering my husband is classically trained and always shares his wisdom from his more refined and sophisticated taste buds down to my southern roots home cooking, this place was a win for both of us. Great choice and happy we came across this place. So give it a chance and open your mind to food that isn't fast service low quality, but delectable and worth every single bite. Go indulge!
If I could give Péché 7 outta 5 stars I would! The food is incredibly delicious, the service outstanding, and the atmosphere phenomenal. This gets them 5/5 stars! But what puts them at 7 out of 5 is the fact the staff was kind enough to let me use their restroom over an hour after I left their restaurant, even though they had every right to refuse me / make me pay, they were so kind as to not do that. This shows a caring and understanding staff. This is such an incredible spot and I cannot recommend their food and service enough!
Came here to check out their popular beef cheek ragu and bouillabaisse after Joe Rogan posted it on IG. It didn't disappoint. The beef was tender and full of flavor, and the bouillabaisse reminded me of the Mexican soup 7 seas. Meaning sin in French, Péché is distinctly Austin's first absinthe bar, showcasing a selection of pre-Prohibition style cocktails and a curated wine list.
This place did not disappoint! I wanted to try something different and it certainly was! Date night looked a lot different tonight and went for something outside of predictability and I am satisfied. Yes, way more pricier than a usual night out, but it's nice to treat yourself. Everything we tried was delicious! The bone marrow, Escargot, and Oysters Rockefeller are must tries! Their drinks do not disappoint on the feeling relaxed side. We had the champagne papi, some jalapeño margarita drink, and the hurricane something. 🤌 Oh and the hospitality here, Top Notch. Very welcoming and friendly 😊
The burger is perfectly cooked and seasoned. The scallops were also perfectly cooked. Soft and creamy. The ketchup has a unique sweetness from the apple cider vinegar, and the fries are so delicious. The service was excellent. The waiter left us alone just enough that we weren't being bothered, but was still very helpful and attentive. Chocolate tort was decadent but I didn't hate myself after eating. Same with the burger. Clean flavor profiles and nothing was greasy.
Peche is my favorite spot to grab dinner and drinks in Austin. The escargot and Duck Mac n Cheese are amazing and the wine list is spot on. The vibes are here, the atmosphere is outstanding and the service at the bar is great. This is one of the spots I recommend to visitors and locals alike. This is definitely a spot worth checking out.
Excellent overall experience. The drink menu was challenging as it was tough to narrow it down-so many tasty options to choose from. The atmosphere in the place was great-it was dimly lit adding a certain feel of mystery to the experience. Our dinners were delicious but if I had to nitpick the quail was a bit salty. Overall, from drinks to appetizers to dinner it was well worth it. Shout out to Patrick who was a great and knowledgeable server!
If you’re looking for a date night spot downtown with delicious French cuisine and impressive service, this is it! Just make sure you make a reservation. I started with a lychee martini, which is technically not even on the menu but which they kindly made for me upon request. I also tried the luna rosa cocktail (vodka, lemon, vanilla, strawberry and coconut) which was quite sweet. The French onion soup is perfection. The broth is incredibly flavorful. It’s perfect to share. I’ve tried the pan seared foie gras with creamy grits and peach chutney. I wasn’t a fan of the creamy grits, but the foie gras with peach chutney was a perfect combination. We asked for a bit of bread to eat with the foie gras. I’ve also tried the grilled New Zealand lamb loin, which comes with potatoes and an au poivre (peppercorn) sauce. I wouldn’t order this again, as it was a bit bland and dry compared with everything else. My favorite dish is the braised beef cheek ragú with tagliatelle pasta. My mouth is watering just thinking about it. The beef cheek is so soft and so full of flavor. Ordering this is a must! For dessert, I recommend the flourless chocolate cake, as it’s not too filling and not too sweet. The bananas foster is also delicious, though it’s definitely sweeter. It comes with two scoops of vanilla ice cream, which tastes incredible because they make it in house. Honorable mention to our server Tony, who made sure we had the best meal possible. Prepare to be impressed by both the food and the service.
Fantastic ambience, warm service. The menu is unique and the food and drink were excellent. They were able to substitute a different base for a cocktail upon request. The charcuterie was especially noteworthy and the bread was hot and fresh. The little attention to detail in the seasoning and flavoring contributed a lot to every dish. If I had to nitpick, the marrow probably pairs better with bread over fries given its fattiness. I'm not sure if that was an option, but the fries were very good regardless and that may be my personal preference.
The food and atmosphere is perfect here, it embodies a New Orleans style French restaurant/ bar. All of their dishes seem mouthwatering, so much so that I found it almost difficult to decide on one dish over another. At my visit I had the escargot and the beef Wellington, alongside a non-alcoholic cocktail that I forget the name of (juice something???). Anyways, the escargot was incredible and the beef Wellington was probably one of the best dishes I’ve ever had. The meal was very filling so I would have to recommend going in with an empty stomach. I will add that the place was very busy when I went so expect a higher noise level and the fact that you may need a reservation. Péché also has a large selection of absinthe drinks if that’s something that you enjoy!
Had dinner there last night with a couple of colleagues and received a warm welcome before being shown to our table. We started with a cheese plate and fries as appetizers. My colleagues went with the ribeye, while I took our server’s suggestion and ordered the lamb chops—which turned out to be incredibly tasty and flavorful. Overall, the food, service, and atmosphere were excellent!
What an amazing place. Let's start where one should. At the top. Rob was next level. He not only wanted you to enjoy yourself but to have the best experience you could. The dishes....oh the dishes. Only going there for my first time, cannot allow me to think I have a favorite yet. But let me try. Being a none pork eater, I have to say, Robs version of the charcuterie, was and will be my favorite forever. The Bone Marrow... cooked to perfection, As was the ribeye. Thank you so much for such a great night for my wife and my self.
It was such a delight dining at Péché! I recommend the escargot and mac & cheese! One of my favorite details about the restaurant were the cat portraits. Also, the sinful cocktail that I ordered was the Luna Rosa which was the BEST cocktails I have ever tried. Thank you for this experience! (:
We had an amazing happy hour experience at Péché last night! Worked out perfectly before we headed over to the Parker Jazz Club for a show at 7:30p. The cocktails were fantastic!! We tried the Pink Moon, the Texas Mule (could taste the ginger…everything was so fresh) and the Royal Bees Knees…all so good! Our server Tara was one of the best we’ve had in a while…so friendly, welcoming and attentive. The food was very good (quick note to the chef…the grains of salt on the burger were a little heavy last night)….we enjoyed the croque! Overall a 5-star experience and a birthday to remember!!
Loved the happy hour at this French themed place, Austin's first and only absinthe bar. Happy hour Tues-Fri 4pm-7pm, Sun & Mon all night has $6 cocktails and 1/2 off select food (all marked with a * on the menu). The lions tail was the best drink we tried and the onion soup and courgette croquettes were great with it. Our server was so helpful and fun. We had a great time!
Dinner at Péché was such a treat. The moody, vintage atmosphere made it feel like a hidden gem in downtown Austin. The cocktails were outstanding creative, balanced, and clearly crafted with care. For dinner, the veal and duck confit mac & cheese were rich and delicious, perfect for sharing. Service was warm and attentive without being overbearing. Overall, Péché is the kind of place that makes a night out feel special. 10/10
My boyfriend and I had the absolute best dining experience at Péché in Austin! The vibe was cozy and romantic—perfect for a date night. We started with a couple of mock-tails, and even without the alcohol, they were incredibly crafted and full of flavor. For food, we shared the mac ‘n’ cheese (so rich and creamy—definitely a must), the Ibérico pork, and the grilled beef tenderloin. Every single bite was to die for. The quality, flavors, and presentation were just exceptional. Highly recommend Péché for anyone looking to impress on a date night or just enjoy a phenomenal meal. We’ll definitely be back!
Best happy hour in town. Cocktails are phenomenal. Walker took care of us last night and he makes the best cocktails. Best bees knees I’ve ever had. French 75 was excellent and so beautifully presented. Love the atmosphere for date night. Escargot, mac and cheese, and Caesar salad were great! We’ve been here multiple times before and ordered the burger and rabbit pasta, rabbit pate, and beet salad which were all delicious
Peché has become one of my absolute favorite spots in Austin — I’ve been here many times, and every visit is a pleasure. The menu is full of gems, but a few dishes always stand out for me. Their escargots are consistently excellent, prepared with just the right touch that makes them rich yet delicate. The bone marrow is nothing short of perfection — if you’re someone who appreciates true culinary delicacies, it’s a must-try. I also can’t get enough of their bouillabaisse, which is flavorful and comforting, and the pasta with peas, which may sound simple but is done so beautifully that it becomes unforgettable. Beyond the food, the service is amazing — professional, attentive, and warm without ever feeling overbearing. The ambiance ties it all together: elegant, cozy, and inviting, making every dinner feel special. If you’re looking for a place in Austin that combines exceptional food, thoughtful service, and a wonderful atmosphere, Peché is the place. Highly recommended!
I’d give 5.1 stars if I could! So glad we found these guys as they are a rare breed of true craft cocktail bar, w delicious French fare w just the right amount of Tejas twist to make them truly unique n the dining landscape. We got extra lucky and dropped n on a monday when they offer all-day happy hour on select drink and food offerings, so of course we had to add dessert after taking advantage of this great deal. The food was fabulous and some folks could actually each get their own salad then share an app and an entree as they salads are very generous, fresh and delicious w not too heavy dressings. Our dishes were creative and savory and brought out piping hot. I will definitely be back here to explore there not to big of a menu as they had soooo many delicious looking unique dishes. Great service by the way! PS- this is a cool old repurposed building which I loved to see…more folks should do that.
My husband took me here for my 40th birthday dinner this evening, and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves! We’ve been wanting to check it out for a while now and I’m so glad we finally did! We started with the mushroom fritters served with crème fraiche which were delicious! Perfectly fried with a creamy, not too rich, center. We also split the haricot vert salad with green beans, pickled cauliflower, diced tomatoes, sliced almonds, feta and bacon (lardons) which they put on the side as I don’t care for bacon. It’s lightly tossed in a creamy Dijon dressing which complimented very nicely and wasn’t over dressed. My husband went with wild mushroom and rabbit crepes for his entree which sounded too intriguing to pass up! He described them as French enchiladas! 😆 The rabbit has shredded chicken vibes and the moutarde sauce rounded out the dish nicely. Lastly, I had the duck confit with red cabbage, apple & Dijon cream sauce. Absolutely delicious! I highly recommend this dish! But here’s the part that took it to the next level… I broke my elbow 6 days ago on my dominant side and cutting my food has been a bit tricky. The chef deboned my duck for me making it much easier for me to enjoy my meal! He did not have to do that, but he took the extra time to make me comfortable and make it so my husband didn’t have to disrupt his dining experience in order to do it for me. Chef, I hope you see this review, it was greatly appreciated! Thank you for going above and beyond! 🫶🏼 All in all we were very impressed with the quality of food, the care and the service! I look forward to a return visit and trying more their beautiful menu!
My lady and I came here for happy hour and were treated to excellent service from Ashley who was hosting and serving 👏 cocktails were top notch, the Pink Moon was our favorite. The Mac n cheese and tuna tartar were perfect starters, and we split the burger. The house made fries and ketchup really set the bar. We will be back!
Very awesome place deserving of a better rating. Food is very excellent and the drinks are great. Happy hour is underrated and everything on the happy hour menu is fantastic. Patrick really took care of us with fantastic recommendations on both food and drink. Features relatively rare dishes like veal sweetbreads and quail. The music could be improved on to be better suited to the decor though. More kid friendly than expected. (4yo)
This place was such a treat. Patrick, our server, brought real warmth to the night. He walked us through everything, answered our basic questions without any attitude, and made us feel comfortable the whole time. The food was excellent and full of flavor. The atmosphere made it feel like a special night out without trying too hard. If you want great food, a beautiful setting, and service that actually cares, this is the spot.
Been here 5 times, their happy hour is killer. I love the focus on absinthe and absinthe cocktails, and both the bartenders and owners know their stuff and are happy to guide you towards a drink you might like whether you're a novice or a long time absinthe enjoyer. I love the absinthe drip, Jade 1901 is wonderfully complex. Favorite cocktail on happy hour is probably the old Cuban, but death in the afternoon (champagne and absinthe) is an easy go-to. And those milkshakes... For the food, highlights would be the Mac and cheese (gruyere and gran padano 😘), the charcuterie board, and the burger. I think the only distinct miss I had was the croque madame, the flavor wasn't there and somehow the fries weren't as good as when I got the burger. Everything else is great, rabbit terrine is nice for a light bite
Péché is a cozy, vintage-style cocktail bar and French restaurant that oozes charm. The cocktails are crafted with care — balanced, creative, and strong in all the right ways. The food is rich and indulgent, from the duck confit to the mac & cheese with truffle oil. It’s dimly lit, romantic, and full of character — the perfect spot for a late-night drink or intimate dinner.
Peche has staying power. Supported by pros in the kitchen who know what thwy are doing, really professional staff, a sane happy hour (can sit anywhere, isn’t two things on the menu, etc), and a surprisingly neighborhoody/NY vibe.
Had a night out at Péché and it was spectacular — the duck confit melted in my mouth, and their moules frites were served in a silky butter broth with perfectly crisp fries. The bouillabaisse also stood out — full of fresh seafood and a fragrant broth. The cocktail program is top tier (they’re Austin’s first absinthe bar) — I tried their Fig Manhattan and a Corpse Reviver #2 — both were artful and balanced. The dim, vintage-speakeasy vibe plus attentive, knowledgeable staff made the evening feel special.
It was lovely having the owner Rob come to each table to speak to everyone. He is such a kind man and gave myself and my husband great recommendations. Our waiter Thomas was great and also spent the time to talk with us and also gave great recommendations We ordered French onion soup, Escargot, ragu and duck confit. Can’t wait to come back! Thank you Rob and Thomas for providing my husband and I a great date night
Péché has excellent service and a really enjoyable atmosphere. We had the French onion soup (good, sweeter onions), quail with wild rice (good but hard to eat in the dim lighting), Iberico pork chop (amazing, the glaze is 🔥), and bananas foster (SO.DARN.TASTY). I would highly recommend giving it a try. I myself will be back many times.
The food was spectacular! With dishes like Rabbit that we don’t find often elsewhere. The service was fine and the atmosphere was a pub style that I felt didn’t match the food but I probably am just not used to that concept. Definitely a great place to visit!
Amazing dining experience at Péché - the owner has done an outstanding job curating a menu of great food and cocktails. He came over to help us pick cocktails that fit our tastes, and they were both spot on. Food was delicious, and very reasonably priced. Highly recommend! (I’m vegan, and the coconut orzo was expertly done.)
Let me preface by saying that I have traveled all throughout France. We usually make a trip there once a year. We make it a point to eat local and fresh. That said, I know French cuisine. I know French standards. Chef John and Chef Vincent have NAILED it. The food itself is absolutely spot-on. We literally ate there four or five nights in a row so that we could try the various creations. The appetizers, mains, and desserts were beyond phenomenal. Although I'm not a cocktail person, my wife raves about them. The service there is unlike any other. The waiters, food runners, and hostess are constantly moving about, taking orders, delivering food, and checking on customers. The owner himself, Rob, is also out there on the floor busting his hump. I can honestly say that I've never seen an owner who works the floor like that. Impressive. The ambiance is also truly remarkable. The pictures on the wall remind me of being in a brasserie in France. The exposed brick and lighting are just right. The bar itself...whoa! Talk about an awesome vibe. That being said, this is easily the best restaurant in not only Austin we have been to, but the best in Texas. We look forward to our next visit. À bientôt!
We went for a belated valentine's dinner and it was amazing!! Patrick was the perfect server and was so knowledgeable. Our drinks were amazing and omg the food was heavenly! Highly recommend the lamb and the escargot+
Stopped in here on a whim during happy hour and it was the best decision. We were able to get lots of delicious cocktails for just $6! The staff were very attentive and kind. They were accommodating to our large group. We also got a few appetizers which came with great serving sizes. Would definitely recommend this place for dinner, drinks, etc…
Enjoyed the food and drink overall. The space is pretty tight but still feels relaxing instead of hectic. I love the cat posters on the walls! Wish I could find them somewhere 😊 Customer service was on point. Our waitress was quite busy and still took good care of us. I almost took one star off on food because the veal special was tough and disappointing. But the restaurant took care of it and I appreciate the gesture. Will go back to try other items on the menu. Definitely a good option for happy hour and date night! Other food items we had are foie gras, bone marrow and escargots as appetizers. Combined it was way too rich 😀 but my dinner companion wanted to try French food so that’s what we did. The wild blueberry crepe and homemade ice cream dessert was nice. It is not super sweet. The ice cream has some flavor I can’t really place. It’s almost savory. Interesting but may not be for everyone.
The food was excellent! We tried the stick tartar for the first time and it was really good! The texture was a lot better than I would have thought and the flavor was great! I also appreciated the arugula with it. I had the scallops and my partner had the quail and they were both very great.
The ambience replicates a cozy french bistro or oenothèque pretty genuinely, doesn't feel like so many yuppie restaurants. Rich and meat-centric French & french inspired food choices, all delicious. The drinks were absolutely phenomenal; cocktail wise Husband had a corpse reviver, the owner recommended an OG cognac based Sazerac & a 'Monk & Saints'...phenomenal. lThe owner Rob is a charming and passionate restauranteur, a dying breed. Will come back when we're in Austin next.
We had the pleasure of eating here last weekend. I had the braised short rib and my husband had the steak, we also had the beef tartare as an appetizer. The cocktails and food were delicious and our server Pat was a true professional. He did not miss a beat. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting the Austin area.
Best happy hour deals in town! Cocktails are truly fantastic, and the wait staff is incredibly friendly & knowledgeable. Excellent date night spot. The food is expensive but completely worth it - some of the best food in Austin. Rob is the best!
La mejor comida Francesa en Agustín TX
Un mágico lugar una buena atención al cliente y la comida esta exquisita👌
Vale la pena!!!!
Los chefs son una especialidad para cocinar la comida chef David y chef Thomas y chef Vicente
What a gem of a place! Went in for dinner last night and was pleasantly surprised. Right off the bat, great cocktails - we did the French 75 which was light and refreshing. They have a good wine list as well, we opted for a bottle of sauvignon blanc. For starters we shared the Pommes Frites (VERY generous portion, can't go wrong with fries), Steak Tartare (my favorite dish of the night, excellent flavor), Tuna Tartine (great portion size) and Oysters Half Shell. For the main course, we shared the Housemade Wild Mushroom Pappardelle, it was a little bland on flavor but the pasta and mushroom were cooked well. Friendly service, loved the ambiance, and they're doing a great job of keeping tables spaced out during COVID.
Tasty food that's for sure. Seasoned flavored just right. Interesting cocktails - certainly sparks conversation. Went on a Monday evening - lite crowd. Ordered appetizers: deviled eggs & mushrooms. Entrees: beef tenderloin & short braised ribs wit mac&cheese (yum yum). Dessert: creme brulee. All delicious. Absinthe drink was memorable. Certainly stop in give it a try.
French restaurant in Austin is not necessarily my first choice. But this place delivers the right atmosphere, with an impressive bar and a French bistro food. I couldn't resist trying the bouillabaisse which has a twist comparing to the original French version in Marseille. Never the less it did the work. The cocktails are great, sophisticated and rich.
After eleven years of dining here, I’ve admitted to myself that the service is good, but not great. We have had our table given away by the hostess because we wanted to order a drink from the bar (yes a misunderstanding), and have had our food show before our drinks. The food is good, as well. It’s a great hamburger and steak, but any time I branch out I’m disappointed. The food is either overcooked (think duck), bland (think your first pot roast when your forgot salt and herbs ) or over saturated (think super sweet and rich rabbit). I just haven’t found the balance the past few years. I will continue coming back, but will keep asking myself why. Maybe I should stick to cocktails and charcuterie, which rarely disappoints.
Good food, excellent service. Hard to park due to downtown Austin. We parked in a pay lot a few blocks away. Prices are what you would expect for a special occasion but not something we would do on a regular basis. Our table bill for 5 was $330. Was also very loud inside and was hot on the night we went. Tables are very close due to seating capacity. It was a little hard for our group to carry on conversations without shouting down the table. We had a good dinner and I would go back. I had the orange duck and really like it. 👍🏽
For date night, we chose Péché and I'm glad we did! There were candles at every table and up at the bar, they have gorgeous chandeliers and wall fixtures that really create a whole vibe. They have amazing happy hour specials and drinks; I love that there's a gigantic wall of alcohol behind the bar, so much that the bartenders need ladders to get to everything; I was impressed to say the least. I had a Tiki Soda and a Daiquiri…both made with rum and both super delicious! My appetizer was the Mac & Cheese with Gruyere and Duck…I was mesmerized - and with it being on the happy hour menu, I highly recommend! I didn’t get to take a picture of it, but the short ribs with mashed potatoes and mushrooms made my night! The meat was so tender, juicy and was just as good the best day when I ate my leftovers. They were pretty busy for it being Thursday at 6:30 but I understand that their happy hour is very popular. Our appetizers came out pretty quick, but We didn’t end up getting our entrees until a little after an hour after we ordered and our second drinks took almost as long. This doesn’t take away from their great food and service, I just suggest going during a less busy time. We spent around $70 per person here and got every dollars worth. I definitely look forward to coming back for happy hour.
My girlfriend and I stopped in here to try out the happy hour burger that I have heard only good things about. From the start of the service was absolutely fantastic and the vibe in here was very nice. Happy hour runs from 4 to 7 Tuesday to Friday and is half off all the items on the menu marked with a star. This meant the burger was $10.50, which was a fantastic deal. The mac & cheese was also have price which brought it down to $9. The food was great, and I have absolutely no complaint. The server really was authentic and enthusiastic about the food here and you could tell he really knew his stuff. All in all everything was fantastic. The only reason I left a four-star was when we were pretty disappointed with the clear miscommunication of the worker. We asked if they do anything for birthdays, and he said absolutely, and then started to list off all the dessert items. When he brought out the bill, they charge for the item, even though he made it very clear that it was on the house. He then acted completely shocked when we questioned the item on the bill. We were full and content, but when he acted as though it was on the house we couldn’t turn it down. This was pretty disappointing, but other than this again, everything was fantastic.
Really good food. Everything we ordered was delicious. I wish the tartare had just a tad less capers, but overall, probably the 2nd best tartare we had to date. (1: Cote de Boeuf Toronto. 3: Justine). If no one was around I would have slurped every last morcel out of the bone marrow. My bf LOVED the liver mousse but found the rilette too sweet and unbalanced. Very small nitpicks from our own preferences, but overall we were VERY happy with this restaurant. If we have the time, we will come back and try the other menu items.
Highly recommend the deviled eggs...one of the best. Hard to move in a wheelchair so beware some steps to get in the front doors... recommend reservations. Clean interior with great servers. A nice Absinthe bar...the restaurant itself looked awesome and the bar was great but my food and the people next to me agreed that some dishes we're bland. The Menu was inspiring but cold scallops are not but the mushrooms fritter was out of this world delicious...I would try to go for a brunch...no valet parking.
Great spot with really good atmosphere. I enjoyed the food and service was good. Burger and fries were fantastic, the quail was kind of a small plate but delicious. The Oysters Rockefeller were definitely very very small, but still tasty. Overall a really good spot for a date night it's hang with a cool atmosphere.
Service was fantastic, the mushroom fritters and escargot were both winners. Cocktails were great. The only let down was the sweetbreads, they lacked flavor and the dish was just heavy with butter. It would have been better with some acid, but overall, great experience. We'll be back
𝐒𝐭𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐠 𝟒.𝟓 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐬. Ambience. Aura. Vibe. A place like Péché usually needs a feeling to describe what it’s like to eat there. Darkened dining area and a bustling chatter in the heart of Downtown Austin make this place a must-try for anyone who enjoys a stellar drink paired with mouth-watering food. My group ordered the Macaroni and Cheese. It was delightful, albeit a bit oily. Additionally we got the escargot 🐌 and for a first timer, it was not bad! Definitely worth trying. And my table of four ordered six drinks. The incredible ‘Sazerac’ - strong absinthe cocktail that is fun and the ‘Lions Tail’ - a fun bourbon and lime cocktail were the standouts. Peach Negroni was very good as well. Overall, come hungry and thirsty and have a great time.
Péché is one of those downtown Austin spots that feels like a hidden gem—dim lighting, old-school charm, and a serious cocktail program. The absinthe focus is fun (and the bartenders actually explain what you’re drinking), but it’s not just about the drinks.
Great food. Mac n cheese, pate, escargot are solid. Happy hours are 6 dollar drinks, and half off apps (both have an asterisk on menu if applicable)
Cool spot, very crowded. Our table (with a reservation) was so close to other tables that we had to ask each other permission to get out from the table. Overall the food was good and they have a massive bar. Our server was fairly preoccupied, but it was also slammed. I really just wish they spaced the tables out a bit more.
A pub with the prices of a high end restaurant. Definitely sit at the bar for the optimal experience as I wouldn't recommend being seated at the tables. The noise level was high and the walkway was crowded due to the overspill of people at the bar. This is not a refined place to enjoy a celebratory dinner except if you are looking for a boozy birthday meal before hitting up 6th Street. We had to flag the server down for the check and never got refills on our ice tea despite the restaurant being mostly empty. We had the Mac and Cheese with Gruyere and duck meat which was absolutely delicious. The Prime NY Strip w/butter was amazing and the Roasted Quail was pretty but required some work to get the meat out. Overall, this was a really disjointed experience between the food and the atmosphere.
I learn about my pallet ever time I eat somewhere new. Its a beautiful thing. The deviled eggs, orzo, and salads were great. On the other hand The charcuterie tray looks like a designer dog and cat food plate then I turned around and saw people eating bone marrow out of a bone like my dogs do. I get it okay it’s probably a fancy thing acquired taste and all but for me feeling like I was eating the same food that looks and smells like cat and dog food grossed me out. Get the deviled eggs and blueberry crepes or just keep walking. Cute atmosphere, gave them a 4 for that and its a hopping place.
$6 cocktails for hh were great. Service was good. Would only go back for cocktail hh not for the food. Ambiance was ok, super dusty inside. The restrooms were horrible.
salt salt and more salt! all of the food here was extremely salty. half pound burger and fries was a complete salt storm. whoever was in the kitchen wanted to give us a supreme salt surprise! service was good, as our waitress was extremely sweet and attentive even though she was very busy. it does seem like this restaurant is a little unorganized because food runners/servers clearly don’t communicate with each other. drinks are inconsistent (some tasting great and others extremely strong) and i don’t recommend ordering the raw oysters. they smelled very foul and even though the taste was fine, i don’t know if i could fully in my heart suggest these to another person. overall i would probably give this restaurant another chance, but don’t think the quality is worth the price.
Time of our visit: Friday March 6 @ 8:30pm Food was excellent and our waitress provided great service. Unfortunately, the host’s behavior significantly undermined what would have otherwise been a very nice dinner. For context, we made a reservation for 8:30 p.m. through Resy about 5–10 minutes before arriving, after taking a Lyft from our nearby hotel. The reservation included a $25 no-show fee. When we arrived, we told the host we had a reservation for two at 8:30. He couldn’t find it in the system and said it might take a minute to appear, but he seated us anyway. I appreciated that and planned to confirm later that we wouldn’t be marked as a no-show. After finishing our meal, I asked our waitress for the check and briefly explained the earlier situation so we could confirm the reservation had appeared properly in the system. The restaurant was fairly noisy, and it seems there was a misunderstanding after she spoke with the host. The host then came to our table and immediately asked me to show him proof that we were charged a fee. From what he said, he believed I had told the waitress that the restaurant had already charged me a bogus fee. His tone was confrontational and accusatory. He questioned how we could have been charged and implied that our claim didn’t make sense because, according to him, the owner was busy doing something else at the time. Rather than confirming what I had actually said or asking a simple clarifying question, he approached the table as if we were trying to accuse the restaurant of wrongdoing or scam them. That assumption was both unnecessary and unprofessional. A brief conversation would have quickly cleared up the misunderstanding. I clarified that we had not been charged anything and were only trying to confirm we would not be marked as a no-show. At that point it was clear the situation came from a miscommunication, but the way it was handled — jumping straight to confrontation instead of clarification — was disappointing. It’s unfortunate because the food was excellent and our waitress was great. However, the host’s behavior spoiled an otherwise enjoyable evening.
I don't get the hype for this place. I went once for cocktails with high expectations and they were alright. Gave it a second shot and it was terrible, got a watered down old fashioned and didn't find out until I got the check that it cost me $19 plus tax, I was shocked! And the whiskey they use is not even high end. Never had food there so can't speak to that. Service was pretty bad both times but even worse on my second visit. Sat at the bar for a good while until someone asked what I wanted. Bartenders walking back and forth and sure they're busy making drinks but no one makes eye contact to at least acknowledge your presence nor say they'll be right with you or something to make you feel seen. Below average cocktails and terrible service so I don't see the point of trying a third time nor do I understand the reason why this place is always crowded. There's so much competition in this city and so many places much much better.
Generally underwhelming and disappointing, despite very good waiting stuff and amazing whisky. It was my birthday and they sat us down at an inferior table and, despite our request to change it, never gave us another one even though they could have. The menu looked very adventurous, but the presentation lacks finesse; and so does the flavor profile (seasoning!) despite high prices. It felt mediocre on my palette. I make better dishes at home. It's like they want to make fine food but execution is barely on the level of southern style mom-and-pop. Decent beef tartar, but it needs more salt. The best dish of the night was the pecan pie, which means they have a good pastry chef, and maybe that's it for their expertise in food. Also, they didn't acknowledge my birthday, so it means they're either lazy, or they don't care. In addition, they don't respect the rules of social distancing, which is a big no no to me. Either way, disappointing and overpriced food. We might come back but definitely not for a special occasion, more for a casual night when you can drink good whisky, and snack on pub-quality food. And once the pandemic is finally over.
I had a terrible experience here this week I adore snails however the had a chemical taste and I asked the waitress to take them away I was then was grilled by her as to what the problem was I tried to explain but was greeted with eye rolls I then ask d for a second glass of wine which she forgot to bring and when I reminded her again I was greeted with eye rolls. It was not a busy night but I obviously got her on a bad night .
Found this spot on Resy near my favorite spots in Austin. My spouse had the ragu which was incredible. Sadly the ribeye was a huge disappointment. I know Péché is not a steakhouse, but I cannot overstate the poor quality of the beef. All of the flavor was in the sauce, which was acceptable if a little overcompensating. The ribeye itself had no flavor -- not a hint of it. The absinthe was a neat experience. They do not do anything special for couples celebrating their anniversary (which is not a requirement of course), but other than the ribeye quality issue, I was happy to check it out.
Should have read the negatives reviews before going. This restaurant has trouble to maintain its food standard. Prawns in the Bouillabaisse have black veins and the sauce was too salty. Over seasoned rabbit ravioli were hastily garnished with carrot and green peas. This is a pseudo French restaurant the best.
I had a really disappointing experience at Péché. I placed a simple to-go order, and when I chose not to leave a tip (since there was no table service), the staff pressured me about it and made me feel uncomfortable. They even refused to let me stand near the bar while I waited, which felt incredibly rude and unwelcoming. No customer should be treated this way. Definitely not a place I’d return to or recommend.
We went there because of the reputation of French Michelin star chef and cocktails. Disappointed! I ordered a bouillabaisse thinking it should be authentic. I was looking forward to it for days. The soup came out tasting like tomato paste mixed with sea water. Super salty and no fish in it, day and night difference from what I had in France. The seafood on it wasn’t fresh. Not to mention how pricey the dish was. On the other hand, cocktails were so small. And what’s up with NOT listing prices on cocktails? I find it very fishy. My waiter can’t name one popular cocktail when I asked and claimed they can make any cocktail, so I ordered a Grasshopper. Turned out there’s no mint taste in it. It’s not a Grasshopper when there’s no mint. Why can’t you tell me you don’t have the ingredients so I can order something else? In conclusion, it’s pricey and nothing to write home about. Better save your money elsewhere. (Sorry no pictures this time. Not worth it.)
