We stopped by The Lobster Trap during a day trip to Avalon from our cruise and it did not disappoint! We came specifically for the lobster roll and it was absolutely delicious!! It was totally worth the stop. The staff was wonderful and very friendly, even with kids in tow. The decorations and atmosphere were on point and added to the fun Catalina vibe. A wonderful find in Avalon! Food and service were great so I highly recommend!

The food was amazing!! I had the macadamia nut crusted swordfish and my mom got the lobster. Everything was delicious!! We were joking as to why you even put veggies on the plate because there's so much other food options to eat! The service was very quick and kind!

This is a MUST stop if you visit Catalina! I have had blackened fish a lot in my life and The Lobster Traps blackened fish is the best! All their food is amazing, the atmosphere is fun, and the bathrooms are clean! Great job guys!

This was my first lunch on the island. The food was decent, and the atmosphere was relaxing, but the bill automatically included an 18% gratuity. While I was willing to pay the tip, I strongly disliked this mandatory tipping policy. Furthermore, even though the tip was already included, the bill still had a separate option for adding a tip, and the waiter didn't mention it. This made me feel like they were trying to subtly charge extra, which significantly diminished my overall experience.

A great place to catch some good seafood. Their ambience is great and their service is amicable. We got lobster roll, fish tacos, and clam chowder. The clam chowder was creamy and flavorful. The fish tacos was fresh and juicy and the lobster roll was fresh and juicy. It was hot lobster roll with sourdough with coleslaw. The coleslaw was also fresh and crunchy. The meat was soft and tender. Overall had a great time here.

The host sat us in the very far left corner where it was very very cramped and the sun was beating down. There was many available tables but I don’t like how we were sat in the worst spot in when it was not busy. We saw other parties of 2 who were sat at bigger tables and with shade not in direct sunlight. However we asked a server and we moved to the bar instead. Katie and Angel were very nice and the food was delicious. The drinks were also amazing. The food did take long to come out but it was worth it. Overall the experience was fine but the host who sat us gave us a bad vibe.

This restaurant offers excellent very fresh seafood with drinks and service to match. It was full of locals the night I was there. Reasonably priced for California

This place was really mid tbh. The oysters didn’t seem very fresh and I’ve definitely had better. Clam chowder was extremely thick and not soup-y. The calamari was decent, and the lobster rolls were pretty good. Could have definitely done without the tacos (though the grilled shrimp in the tacos were not bad). Blackened sea bass was also overdone. Overall, it’s probably your typical vacation food, but coming from LA, it doesn’t meet great food standards unfortunately. Not great but not horrible :)

The service was great the atmosphere nice however I had the misfortune of finding a hair in my food. The tried to correct by 50% the dish i ordered. I had the veggie scramble which was swimming in oil which defeats the purpose of egg white. Dishes were good portion size, served hot with substitutions as requested. Do not trust the gluten-free menu, there was too much cross-contamination and we physically paid for it all night. Second ask the MP (market price) of your entree before you order a meal, please learn from our mistakes. Service was great and made up for a poor meal. Candi was able to efficiently focus her time on each of the tables in the packed house. Now to the meals. A lobster roll on a GF bun was a complete miss. The lobster was somehow over cooked and rubbery in some pieces and undercooked and raw/stringy at the other end of the same piece, without a properly cooked area falling somewhere in the middle. $32 for a few pieces of lobster was not worth the MP. Our fish ceviche was mildly ok and mostly consistent. Flavoring was poor and the like somehow got watered down. This may have been a factor in the post-meal toilet runs, but the prime culprit was cross contamination. DO NOT eat the corn chips, they are fried and baked in the same oil as wheat flour products.

Such a disappointment! I came there excited. Was seated right away. Came around 11 am - they were wrapping up breakfast service, so no lobster rolls just yet. I was deciding between lobster omelet, lobster egg Benedict, or chicken and waffles. I went with the latter. When the plate arrived, the syrup was not real maple syrup but out of a plastic container. The waffle was looking dense and the chicken overcooked. I gave it a try and was majorly disappointed! The waffle was the worst one I ever had- tasteless, dry, doughy, almost like it was only made out of flour and water. The chicken wings were spicy (not mentioned on the menu) and they were way overcooked. I didn’t want to continue to put this junk in my body… The saving grace is that server, after learning my disappointment, didn’t charge me anything. I think LA’s &waffle spoiled me :/

Worst Calamari’s I've EVER had they are square flat and hard almost no calamari inside mostly breading. I don’t have a pic but I travel all over the world. The food is ok at best but the prices are ridiculous $96 for two people no drinks only water.
