Almost never misses. Love the integration with local and seasonal produce. Phenomenal desserts. Unlike other nyc institutions with staid menus and no variation you can have different food every time or rely on old favorites. Underrated for sure
This was one of my favorite meals in New York in ages. They obviously understand flavor and how to highlight the vegetables they are serving. Creative but down to earth food. Casual and authentic vibe. Much better food than other, more expensive veg places in town. I had the yuba sandwich which was stellar. They got a huge amount of sausage flavor into it. The pickled beets were a fave as well. The date milkshake was one of the best desserts I’ve ever had. Perfectly balanced sweet and salty with notes of coconut and orange zest. Unreal.
One of my favorite places to go for a bite after a show at Night Club 101! The burger is great (love that the fries are included!) and the date cake with labne ice cream was top ten things I've ever put in my mouth. Love the staff and the space :)
This spot used to be a diner and Superiority Burger totally carries the legacy forward with the paper daily specials and slices of pearl pie in the refrigerated case. That said, the menu here is unlike any restaurant anywhere. Honestly we didn’t even really know what we were ordering but the side of cabbage, fries, yuba sandwich and panelle were mind-blowing. Super wild flavors. Service was phenomenal. I’m hooked. The pearl pie with fresh passion fruit was amazing.
This is one of my favorite places to keep coming back to eat. These always have unique, unexpected, and delicious seasonal specials. A lot of times a dish can sound or look simple but then it tastes like a lot going and it is impressive someone thought to put different combinations together. It seems like a big focus is on the ingredients they use. Especially in the summer they often get these jimmy nardello peppers or bird beak peppers. I didn’t know either existed before and I still think about both of them. I really like vegetables and was hesitant to try the yuba verde but that and the collard greens sandwich on focaccia are dishes I keep getting. Now I always try something with tofu there! Occasionally I don’t like the specials but it is a matter of taste and I like that they and I keep trying new things. The gelato flavors often change and are flavors I have not seen anywhere else before. Over the years it has become more expensive but it is still a worthwhile treat to eat their food.
My absolute favorite restaurant in the entire city. Every dish they make is out of this world delicious — so flavorful and creative!! If you go at an off hour or are a small group, wait times are usually not too bad. They always have such fun and inventive specials. My personal favorite is the collard greens on focaccia—I think about it every day tbh.
This place is magic - the founder brings his eclectic taste to create something truly special. The Superiority Burger (the namesake!) is pure perfection. The tanginess from the pickles, the soft yet crunchy patty… every bite feels special, like I’m blessed or something. And when I’m in the mood to cheat, I’ll pair it with the fries — also perfection. Everything here tastes so fresh and high-quality. Burnt Broccoli - again, perfection. It comes with a sauce on the side that’s such a nice surprise, and I go every week and NEVER get bored. The Date Shake… who would’ve thought it’d be so interesting? The founder always sneaks in elements that elevate the flavor profile - the surprise this time is the orange zest. Their specials are always exceptional and super creative. I guarantee you won’t see anything like them anywhere else. And the service - truly great. I’ve seen the same staff for years, which brings a sense of community and continuity that’s rare in the city these days. So yes… I come here all the time, and I’m never bored! Oh yes it is worth the hype btw!
We went early on a Sunday and there was no wait at all. I loved the vibe and the old photos on the wall...in particular, a photo of Dojo on St Marks which brought back a lot of memories... Service was laid-back, friendly and quick. On to the food...three in my party got the Superiority Burger with fries in three different ways. It was all spot-on and after tasting it, it is a strong vegetarian burger. But forget that and go for the TFT - a fried tofu sandwich which was simply outstanding. The fries are some of the absolute best I've had in NYC. We also had a side of burnt broccoli which was ok, but nothing too special. Go for the TFT, fries and the vibe.
I ventured to superiority burger for the first time and finally tried their namesake burger. I had heard about this restaurant a lot in foodie podcasts that I listen to so I had to check it out. I was shocked at how delicious it was! Reading the description, it seemed kind of basic, so my hopes weren’t super high despite the hype. But for sure- the hype is real. It was the best veggie burger I’ve had in my life. All of the components and layers of flavor come together to make the perfect burger. And the best part is that you can easily fit the whole thing in your mouth when you take a bite. I feel like so often I end up eating my veggie burger with a fork and knife. I wanted so badly to try their other veggie dishes but they were so expensive- just as much as the burger practically and I couldn’t justify the cost. Maybe next time!
One of the best vegan sit down restaurants in the city. The atmosphere hits as a classic burger joint but, well, vegetarian. Most of the dishes can be made vegan on request, so this is a standout for vegans looking for a burger fix. I’m honestly surprised I haven’t heard of this place before because every dish was superb. We only came because we were seeing a show nearby and my partner saw this place recently in the NYTimes. We got two mains and one appetizer, all of which we made vegan: Superiority Burger Collard Greens Sandwich - my personal favorite. Unique taste; mixed texture; perfect size Roasted White Sweet Potato I’ll definitely have to come back to try the other two sandwiches on the menu as well as some of the appetizers that stood out but didn’t make the cut for this visit, namely the Sweet and Sour Pink Beets and the Spicy Lentils and Cornbread.
Tonight, I went to "Supeiority Burger," located at 119 Avenue A in New York City, which is a delightful gem for both vegetarians and those looking to indulge in innovative plant-based cuisine. Known for its creative and delicious take on traditional burgers, this eatery offers a unique menu that showcases their commitment to flavorful and high-quality ingredients. One of the standout features of "Superiority Burger" is their signature burger, which is consistently praised for its perfect blend of textures and flavors. The patty is made from a mix of legumes, grains, and fresh vegetables, creating a hearty and satisfying experience. The variety of toppings, including pickles, house-made sauces, and seasonal vegetables, elevate the burger to a whole new level. In addition to their famous burger, Superiority Burger offers a rotating selection of sides and salads, each bursting with freshness and originality. The atmosphere is casual and inviting, making it a great spot for a quick lunch or a relaxed dinner. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable, always ready to offer suggestions and ensure a pleasant dining experience. While the seating is limited, the cozy vibe adds to the charm of the place. It's a perfect stop for those looking to enjoy flavorful food without compromising their dietary preferences. For anyone in the area, Superiority Burger is a must-visit destination that proves plant-based eating can be delicious and satisfying.
Huge vibes. Quirky/ alternative dark diner feel, very no frills, neon colored construction paper menu- energy. The fact that everything is vegetarian and most everything is vegan is impressive and cool. The superiority burger is good. I give it four stars. But w the overall hospitality of the place and just wide selection (gelato, cinnamon buns, breakfast, brunch, sandwiches, cocktails), this restaurant is fantastic. The chef’s roasted veg w the burger were really tasty - just wish they were served warm instead of cold. The hash brown was decent- I think the veg is a better side to the burger. Staff are really cool and chill. Appreciated that!
Best veggie burger in the city. Immaculate vibes. Like a punk-inspired classic diner. A little pricey, but well-earned.

Food was gas, large dining room and very quick service and turn around from ordering to eating.
Sad to report, but the place has lost some ( or all ) of the magic that it once had at the old location. I don't get the super inflated prices ( $27 for the yuba Verde sandwich), the fries were goo…
Not sure if it's the best vegan in NYC but it has to be in my top 3 for sure. Seated immediately in a booth for four we had drinks, burnt broccoli and fries for starters. Great timing and service a…
This would be a 5/5 for me however the service needs improvement. The chefs and ladies are superb, but for some reason the waiters never seem to check on you. We got seated in the back and the guy didn’t check on us until I motioned him to come over. Food is good but be prepared to spend half $100 bucks for 2 burgers. Either way, food is great for a vegan place.
Vegan restaurant by Tompkins park. The halumi and pumpkin starter was amazing. I had the Yube sandwich, wouldn’t recommend. Their house burger was definitely a better choice. Good if you’re looking for a vegan or vegetarian option. On the expensive side, and there’s definitely better places in the area. I’d go back but only for the burger.
The food is really interesting and unique here. I didn’t realize it was vegetarian but their main burger really hit the spot. They also have some really cool side dishes as well & I really appreciate their rotating specials. I highly recommend the date milkshake! Some of the food feels a bit overpriced for the quality. Especially the fact that everything costs upwards of $20, even sides and desserts. It is also a very loud environment & I can barely hear my friends.
All dishes were a hit. Pearl pie ($14) is no joke, a total flavor bomb in your mouth with the passionfruit. Not pictured is the pumpkin halloumi with ramp pesto special ($20), which also punches you in the face with spice and flavor. Loved the vegan superiority burger ($20), but it’s so soft it falls apart in your hands. The yuba sandwich ($25) held together perfectly well with the baguette. Soft bread with structure. Subbed the cheese with chickpeas and could not stop eating it. Service could be better.
Superiority Burger is a memorable, well decorated vegetarian spot- well worth going once, though I’m not in a rush to come back. The ambiance inside is so cool, the bathrooms have a nice vibe and I like the retro setting. The service was great. The original superiority burger was my personal favorite, it had a meatiness though the bun got soggy pretty quickly. The pickles and sauce were good. It came with nice crispy fries. The tofu fried tofu sandwich was not the best, the fried exterior was crispy but the tofu part was underwhelming and lacking flavor. It needs some other sauce or taste in addition to the coleslaw in my opinion. The appetizers here look great, and the tomato salad (special for the day) was good, though had too many breadcrumbs for my liking. If I do eventually come back id like to try more appetizers, drinks, or desserts here.
Beautiful low-lit atmosphere and fantastic food. The zucchini tomato special was incredibly flavorful and my omnivore brother enjoyed the vegetarian burger he had — we only wished the portions were a little bigger. Super friendly staff and great menu design. Definitely want to stop back.
East Village dive with interesting menu. Can't understand why the NYTimes is so in love with this place. We had a good time, but given the high prices probably won't come back.

Excellent unique appetizers, great burger texture and taste. Hot toddy drink hit the spot on a cold windy day.

I’ve been meaning to try this place and really wanted to like it because a vegetarian burger joint is what this world needs more of. The Superiority seemed like the right place to start. It was OK, but it did not live up to its name. It was surprisingly small and the toppings were also minimally doled out. For $22 (including fries that were average) I really expected a hearty and tasty veggie burger (like what 5 Napkin offers). Overall, it was a lot of money for something that was not substantial and unremarkable. But people clearly like this place on a Monday evening, it was about 75% full. Maybe I would’ve done better trying something else on the menu, like the tofu sandwich.
Food was five stars excellent, but service was horrible and atmosphere way too loud. It and put a damper on the whole evening. It’s such a shame because if it weren’t for the poor service, this would’ve been a 5 star review. The waiter disappeared and we waited 30min after we’d finished eating to get our plates cleared, eventually the hostess had to do it as our waiter was still MIA… I thought he had actually left and ended his shift, though even while he was there he never checked on us once. Then I asked for the ice cream to go, he said absolutely and failed to mention there were no to go cups!!! Left us to fend for ourselves with the giant overflowing scoops, didn’t even bring a second cup we had to ask someone else. It was a total disaster and our ice cream melted all over the uber and my clothes. If he had simply informed us there were no to go cups we would not have ordered but instead he brought this ice cream with the bill so it was too late to correct. The atmosphere was much too loud… every table was screaming both to be heard over the blasting music and also each other. I actually put in my loop earplugs. The food though was truly excellent, exceeded my already high expectations. We tried the pumpkin with halloumi which I’m still dreaming about. Looked unassuming but was bursting with strong flavor, chili, maybe even lemongrass, halloumi was perfectly cooked without getting rubbery and not too salty either. The rancho gordo marcella beans (which I’ve also bought and cooked) were also extremely flavorful, though this dish was a little spicy for me. The collard greens sandwich was great, very cheesy almost American cheese vibes but in a good way more flavorful. The focaccia didn’t disappoint. The tofu fried burger was perfectly cooked and very crunchy with strong flavor of sesame. Again though, this was a bit too spicy for my liking. The date shake was a huge disappointment. I had heard so much about it but it was just way too sweet for me and the overpowering flavor was orange zest, which felt kind of out of place. It was also too liquify for my liking, I would’ve preferred a thicker shake with less milk. The corn gelato however was spectacular… so rich and almost sticky creamy. Deep corn flavor that was so intense and went perfectly with the sweet ice cream. I don’t know how they crammed so much corn flavor in without making it icy but it was really something special. Overall the food was much better than I was expecting and I had high expectations - it was just a lot less bland than typical American fare, each dish was bursting with unique flavors and textures. I also appreciated they had plenty of non alcoholic drinks, and I enjoyed my sugar free cranberry juice & seltzer - truly no sweetness, no sweetener either but very refreshing. I may brace the service and environment again for the food, or opt for takeout next time.

Honestly, very disappointing. I ordered the burger with the chef’s choice of vegetables and received a pile of pickled cauliflower that didn’t pair well with the dish at all. The chocolate dessert was also misleading it wasn’t really a chocolate plum dessert, just a mousse and jelly with bits of vegan chocolate mixed in. It was overly sweet to the point of tasting very artificial, and the oats on top made it feel more like a breakfast item than a proper dessert. The only thing I enjoyed was the dates dessert. Overall, I would say that if you have specific expectations about flavor or balance, this place might not be the right fit. Especially at the price point they have and the high number of great alternatives in the area.
Decent burger, but nothing standout ish, just tasted like a regular bean burger. Fries were delicious, love the thick potato cut. I enjoyed the tofu burger as well, the slaw was a great addition to it. However, the price point makes this not worth it as I was expecting better. For a basically $50 check, we got 2 burgers and 1 side of fries. NYC i guess… Service was also not good, maybe it’s because we were in the back on a friday but the waiter took our order, never came back, we had to ask the waiter at the table next to us after he took their order for the check, and then our waiter came back to give us the check.
