⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Absolute gem in the heart of Barcelona! The cakes are simply incredible—rich, delicate, and clearly made with real craft and love. Every bite tastes like tradition, not just dessert. What makes it even more memorable is the story behind it: Caelum was founded in May 1998 with the idea of bringing “a little more heaven to earth,” inspired by ancient recipes preserved in monasteries across Spain. You can genuinely feel that heritage in the flavors—like you’re tasting something timeless, passed down through centuries. If you love pastries, history, and places with soul, don’t miss this. I’ll be coming back again and again!
Wonderful and interesting place to stop in. There is a shop and cafe to enjoy. The pastries are made in the monserrate monastery and you can see the ruins of an old bath through a grate in the floor. The staff are very nice and it's a good spot to have a small treat.
This is one of the most known coffee pasty shops in the Gothic quarters! Near Cathedral Santa Maria del Pi and magnificent Christmas tree store. What makes it special is the pastry that is all hand made by the nuns of the Montserrat monastery!!! We had to stop and try and have coffee there! As you enter you get greeted with a visual of the ancient jewish baths that were once located in that place… you can see the ruins thru the mesh floor. Tons if goodies to look at and to purchase - see my videos. Place is small and can likely fit 5-6 groups at most. Only 1 or 2 workers around and they took their time! Coffee was great! Ask and they can add some alcohol to it… we tried few pastries as well - honestly nothing to die for… but worth the experience!!! Overall - you can certainly find a less expensive place to have coffee and some sweets at - and i am sure it will have its own share of history, but if you want a selfie with a meaning and glamor - give them a shot! Token place to check mark off your list
A magical and authentic spot in the heart of Barcelona. This is one of the most charming and unique patisseries I’ve ever been to. At the entrance, you’ll find a lovely selection of artisanal products made by monks and nuns, beautifully displayed and available for purchase — a rare and heartwarming touch that sets the tone for the whole experience. Walk further in and you’ll enter the heart of the patisserie: a cozy space with tables surrounded by an array of pastries, all beautifully presented behind glass. You can simply look, point, and pick what you want — everything is freshly made, and the taste lives up to the visual appeal. The coffee is excellent, and the staff is kind and welcoming. Caelum is a must-do in Barcelona if you’re looking for something traditional, soulful, and delicious.
My experience was very good in this place. I start my morning with cream Catalan and American coffee the service is very nice and they are friendly. The quality of the suite is very good. The quality of the café is very good. and they have many different type of sweets and some products. You can buy recommend this place.
Very nice & cozy place! Great atmosphere! We got the lemon pie, strawberry pie and a crazy delicious cake with lemon, pistachio, pomegrante and sugar glazing on top. A bit pricey for what it is actually, but I think it is a great experience to have. The stuff was very very nice! 100% Recommend it!
A friend wanted to try this French bakery looking place and I am grateful. We tasted 3 different deserts and liked each of them. My favourite was the Cream Catalan - by far. (The lemon pie was too sweet for me and the monastery cake was too dry but both still good.) The staff is friendly and the place feels cozy. They were closing for the day at 8 so we had to have our pies as take away but could be a nice spot for some tea or coffee.
This is a delightful, quaint coffee shop in the backstreets of Barcelona. If you like good coffee, very chocolatey hot chocolate and some delicious cakes then it's a must. There is a little shop attached where you can buy biscuits, teas and some vintage tins. The staff were very friendly and service was great.
Everything was delicious here! The pastries and baked goods are displayed from the window for the entire street to see and are incredible eye catching! Finding seating for more than two is a challenge as the interior is very cosy and the chairs pretty uncomfortable. The atmosphere is very cute and is just the perfect little tea room to take a break from walking.

A georgeous cafe with a dreamlike atmosphere. The staff is lovely and the sweets and drinks were tasty. I recommend this place for people who like places with cute and romantic vibes.
Niet doen don't go. Coffee was good but pastries- sweets where bad To dry to expensive. Nice outside but bad inside. Go somewhere else. Nof good to much money.

I was passing by and came across Caelum, so I decided to give it a try. The hot chocolate wasn’t to my taste—I’ve had much better elsewhere. Maybe it wasn’t the best choice or it’s simply a different style than what I’m used to, so I’d recommend trying it yourself and forming your own opinion. The dessert was okay—not the best I’ve had, but it’s worth visiting as another experience.
We stopped off here a few days ago for mid-afternoon tea & cake. Being from the UK, we're known for our tea & cake so my standards are quite high. Firstly, there was something old and vintage-e…
The interior and selection of cakes are great. However, having a professional coffee machine, they make your coffee from an ordinary capsule coffee maker behind the bar. So you're paying for an espresso and you're getting a watery slop!
Without a doubt it's a beautiful place and I used to take many friends and family to its café and shop whilst living in Barcelona. The last experience was pretty disappointing however. My friend and I ordered a few drinks each, as well as a pastry. Once we received the bill we were completely shocked to see that the pastry I was recommended by one of their employees cost €11 (!!!). I thought they made a mistake and charged us for two, but sadly not. If you are going to recommend a specific pastry, you could mention it costs nearly twice as much as the other ones. I wrote them a couple of emails about it, but as they ignored both of those messages, I decided to leave a review. It's a shame, as it's a lovely place to sit but I won't be recommending it any longer. I get that everyone needs to make a living but you're ripping people off with these kind of prices.
Definitely don’t recommend the food! I was on my way back to the hotel and saw the macarons and had to stop, but they were definitely a disappointment - a hard cookie with sweet goo on the inside (definitely didn’t have that melt-in-your-mouth feel good macaroons usually do).The place looked so cute and the store had a good selection of packaged goods, however the cafe itself was not good. Such a shame! The staff was super nice but the food was VERY overpriced for what it was - each macaroon was 6 EUR and some change. Wouldn’t come again, felt like a tourist trap.
We visited this place for the second time, but unfortunately, the experience was disappointing again. Both times, the staff seemed disorganized and rather rude while getting a table ready. This time,…

Today I visited this cafe. I had high expectations, especially regarding the pastries. I was terribly disappointed! The cakes tasted terrible. The sponge cake with cream was tasteless, leaving a greasy taste in my mouth. But what spoiled me the most was the disgusting service. The female waitress was dismissive of serving. It was as if we were bothering her by coming and asking for our order. I felt terribly awkward being there. I do not recommend it.
