We had such a lovely birthday dinner here. We were staying in Bath for 1 night and had no reservation. Popped into this place as we both love Greek food. And guess what, this place did not disappoint at all. The staff are super friendly, welcoming and nice. Freya waited our table and she was very patient, took time to explain the food and helped us select the food. I casually told her towards the end of our dinner that it was my husband’s Birthday, and she surprised us with a lovely cake and candle. Made tonight a memorable birthday for me and my partner. And the food was super tasty. We tried peppers in vinegar and aubergine (which I cannot remember the name) and it was simply scrumptious. highly recommend this place if you are in Bath.

Lovely ambience set in the little cobbled streets of Bath. Recommend the aubergine maze dish- lovely service. Also has nice baklava and cakes though portions very large

The food was absolutely amazing. We were so happy to hear that it is a family run business and we were not disappointed. The prices and portions are great and the atmosphere is unbeatable. I really felt like I was back in Greece. The waiters were also very helpful and kind. 5/5 and will definitely recommend to others.

Highly recommend the Meat Feast, it was such great meal! Beef stew was seriously impressive, and we absolutely loved the pita bread with the homemade sauce, the service was also top-notch.

It is one of the best Greek restaurants I've been to in the UK. Everything is abosultely delicious and it feels very authentic inside. You need to prebook due to limited space availability. Upon paying you're served an anise based shot on the house.

Love the food here. It opens at 12am, but when it was like 12:30ish the tables were quite full. The staff were very friendly. The mussels, the chicken gyros tasted really nice. They gave us free shots at the end with the bills, cranberry juice sth with alcohol, but it tasted a bit like cough syrup 🤣

We stopped in on a rainy night when they were about to close for the day and was greeted by a gentleman that took pride in his appearance, service, and products! We had a baklava that was probably the best we have ever had! I would not miss this stop if you are in Bath, UK. I’m sure there are other places that serve the same products but the whole experience was great at this one!

A very lovely Greek restaurant in the heart of Bath. The atmosphere is warm and beautifully designed, creating a truly authentic experience. The staff are wonderful and polite — it’s especially приятно to hear native Greek spoken here. The food is absolutely delicious. Highly recommended!

Delicious and reasonably priced. Great service, very nice beer on tap, the lamb was exceptionally good today.

Great Greek food. Had the meat feast shared platter. A nice range of delicious meat dishes. Will come again. Do try the baklava too. Very good.

Food was delicious — rich, flavorful, and comforting. The moussaka was the clear winner out of the three dishes. Worth coming just for that. Staff were warm and welcoming — true Greek hospitality. One even spoke Spanish, so I instantly felt at home. We had a booking for 13:30 and they kindly seated us at 13:00. Nice touch. The place itself nails the vibe: cozy, lively, and full of Greek character. You feel like you’ve stepped into a little corner of Greece. It gets busy (packed around 13:00 on a Saturday), so book ahead. We waited around 30 minutes for food, but it was worth it. If you're craving Hellenic flavours, this spot delivers. Your inner Greek will be happy.

Met my son and his girlfriend here for lunch. We didn't book as we had a detour as the motorway was closed, and walked past and all the tables were full and the food looked and smelled really enticing. Lucky for us there was a table free. We had pitta and dips to start, they were lovely. I had chicken gyros which was massive and amazing flavours. Staff were lovely, food was tasty no complaints at all and I would definitely recommend 10/10

We went today at Jars Meze and this place is amazing, is now my favorite Greek restaurant! The food is absolutely amazing and the staff are all very helpful and friendly. Can’t wait to go back and try the other dishes on the menu. I highly recommend Jars Meze ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ We had an absolutely exceptional experience at this restaurant. The food was outstanding — fresh, full of flavour and beautifully presented. The staff were perfect: friendly, attentive and very professional. They made us feel welcome from the moment we walked in. The atmosphere was simply amazing — relaxing, elegant and truly a lovely place to enjoy a meal. Highly recommended! We will definitely be coming back.

Absolutely superb! 🥰😍 As a solo traveller with a desire to seek out independent, stand-out restaurants to eat in, this gorgeous little tucked away Greek delight did not disappoint! I love family owned businesses and these lovely people could not have done more to make my experience simply sublime. As an early diner I sat happily soaking up the lively music, chose items I would never be able to cook to the same standard at home (I have no Greek heritage sadly) and sunk happily into my cosy corner to wait for my dishes to arrive. The lady hosts (Roxana and Mihai) waiting on me were naturally warm, open, welcoming and bent over backwards to satisfy my hunger and ensured I really enjoyed my food. Both had marvelous hosting skills and the effort and presentation of exceptional food quality reflected their own very high standards and integrity. The restaurant setting was quiet, cosy, vibrant, authentic, and warmly relaxed. I could see the chef preparing, cooking, and garnishing my 🔥 Gairdes (prawns in a chilli tomato sauce with Feta starter)The chicken Gyros was very generous in portion size (no skimping on chicken meat) with divine flavours. The Tziki (one of my all time favourites) was thick, creamy, and seriously garlicky 😋 chips-well chips are chips! Upon paying they gifted me a small home baked Greek style chocolate biscuits with a strawberry filling-a great alternative to a mint. I'll certainly return for another mini Greek experience the next time I'm in Bath. Thank you for making me feel so valued and welcomed 💓 ☺️

I have had multiple lunches at this great traditional, family run Greek restaurant and have never been disappointed. The staff is really lovely, service is prompt and very courteous. They have a large choice of vegetarian options ideal as tapas to share as well as meat dishes. They have tables downstairs as well as upstairs and outside too in the summer. I really love this place. Ideal for quick work lunches with work colleagues or friends. The food is healthy, tasty and the atmosphere is unpresumptious and friendly. They also have a large selection of drinks and delicious wines and soft drinks. Really one of my favourite restaurants in Bath!

Went with a group and the staff were very attentive and helpful. Food was great and came out quickly. Not a great deal of choice of non-alcoholic drinks.

Great service from start to finish. The food was incredible. Myself and my partner have had some great food as we have come for our short getaway in Bath. However, Jars Meze was exceptionally delicious and had great portion size. We ordered the Chicken and Pork Gyros. And also some desserts to take away. Excellent value for money and great atmosphere outside with the other customers. You will not be disappointed.

Fantastic atmospheric Greek bistro right in the historic city centre, serving a great selection of delicious authentic dishes, from hot and cold meze (small plates) to larger main dishes, to meat or veggie set menus for 2 to share. The staff are lovely and I’ve always had great meals there. Vegetarians, vegans, kids all well catered for. Highly recommend.

Two of us had lunch here today...we didn't book but arrived just at opening time. We had two beef meze pots- both were excellent. Great flavours and the most tender beef. Service was lovely. The cutest little dining space too. Its a real family run place and has authenticity about it, we recommend!

Delicious lunch as usual. It gets very busy so book if you can. Had the lamb and the Chicken Gyros with a chocolate cake and I can't remember the name of the other one.

Nestled in a cosy spot down the arcade, such a great find; Jars Meze transported us to a Greek heaven! It is a family ran business, with such a friendly charm, that it could have been more of an experience than simply a meal out. We felt welcomed and very happy to have chosen this sunny atmosphere restaurant. They were super passionate about the food - going to great lengths to explain the authenticity of each dish. We found our stifado, like comfort food, warming and delicious with the beef being melt in the mouth tender. My chicken with cheeses, mushrooms and rice was a unique juicy feast. Even the sides of olives and filo parcels were seasoned to perfection! There was a rainbow of choice for desert! We had to have more than one each! Each portion surprising in a wonderful way. My traditional milk tart with raspberry compote was smooth and morish. We even had free lecure to finish. Thank you Jars Meze! We will certainly be back to try more dishes!

Everything was amazing. The menu is clearly labelled with gf etc which makes ordering very easy. We had the Greek salad to start which was incredibly fresh and the Greek red wine complimented it perfectly. Pork and chicken gyros was so delicious but I couldn't finish it so took it home. Stunning complimentary digestif at the end too. We will travel to Bath just to revisit one day!

Oh my goodness! What an amazing place!!! The food was superb, the atmosphere perfect and the staff in this family run restaurant were very knowledgeable! Archilles served us; he was fun, engaging and was able to recommend delicious Meze dishes! Try the Greek coffee too - YUM!!! We left satisfyingly full and would definitely visit again when next in Bath.

We absolutely loved everything about the restaurant! I highly recommend the baked aubergine with feta. The service was fantastic, our waitress was really friendly and understood the menu very well. It’s a family run restaurant with a great atmosphere. Having been on holiday to Greece many times I can honestly say that the food is authentic Greek cuisine. The wine was delicious and complimented the food very well. I will most definitely be going back in the future. Well done to Mado and the rest of the team. VERY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!

Delicious greek food (meat feast + extra chips + smoked aubergine dip). Meat feast is for 2 very hungry people or 3 people.

Really really love this place. Was warmly welcomed by one of the younger staff. He kindly waited for us to settle down before explaining the menu and specials to us. Service was outstanding and the small talk came rather naturally. The food was fantastic especially the gyros I ordered which came in a mammoth portion of perfectly sculpted pork on top of crispy chips. The Greek yogurt that accompanied the dish helped cool my palate and helped with the massive heaps of meat and pita bread. Ended the meal with Greek coffee and the waiter explained how it was boiled and the way to drink it properly. Very impressed by the food and service. Definitely a must come when you're in Bath!

With so much on offer in Bath it would be easy to miss this tiny family run place; but make sure you don't: My new wife and I popped in here whilst wandering around Bath on our honeymoon, they were kind enough to fit us in without a reservation and we we're so happy they did. The service was friendly and relaxed and the food was incredible - it was all I could do to not eat the smoked aubergine dip with a spoon!

“I had the pleasure of dining at a truly remarkable restaurant, which impressed me from the moment I walked in with its refined and welcoming atmosphere. The dishes were excellent—carefully prepared and full of flavor—and the service was equally outstanding: professional, prompt, and genuinely courteous. It was a truly delightful experience that I wholeheartedly recommend to anyone who appreciates quality and attention to detail.”

First time visiting, what a lovely find this place is. Very family/friendly orientated. Great little menu and food was amazing. Had the sharing meat platter with a salad, more food than we could eat! Great place

The dips and meze dishes were great, we enjoyed them all! The main dishes were mixed though - the moussaka and stifado were nice, but the chicken orzo dish was not good. It was quite overcooked and was not restaurant standard - I’d avoid this dish. Please note, that additional discretionary charge is not a tip, which is a bit cheeky! There is mention of this going towards ‘additional costs’, and the staff only get a small percentage of this additional charge. Overall, I wasn’t amazed by this place - it was ok but I’m not in a rush to go here again.

We love Greek food, and while visiting Bath, we came here with my partner because of the good reviews. We had high expectations for the food, but unfortunately, we’re a bit disappointed… The food just wasn’t tasty. The tzatziki didn’t resemble the one we’ve had in Greece or greek restaurants in UK. The olives in the salad —which are usually delicious—were inedible and very unpleasant. The hummus was actually quite nice, and the moussaka was correct, but the fried courgettes weren’t worth the price, and the bread we ordered on the side wasn’t good either. Sadly, we won’t be coming back. We were hoping for a delicious lunch, but we left disappointed Staff was very welcoming and nice.

Came here looking for an easy dinner in bath, ordered the spanakopita (spinach and feta in filo pastry) disappointed with the dish as the pastry felt like semi set wall plaster and was piping hot from the microwave. Shared the moussaka as well and was delicious, although couple of dead leaves were found in the salad didnt really bothered me as the salad they gave was generous. Overall will still visit to try other dishes!

This is our third time to Jars Meze and it was just as good as our previous visits. Only small downside was that we were sat by the external door and the staff were coming and going - it was quite chilly. But otherwise, lovely…

I visited this restaurant in Sep 2024 for lunch and yesterday for coffee as we were celebration one Greek friend completed the half marathon. The food in Sep was good, grilled chicken with no pita bread as I am gluten intolerant, neither feta cheese as I have a dairy free diet. They don't have an alternative milk, so if you don't drink cow milk, better to go to another place for coffee.

P
Patrick N.

It was okay—a little pricy, but you get 25% off during the weekday. I don’t think I’d want to pay full price, though. The gyros looked like a hefty portion, but it was just padded out with a lot of fries. I was expecting the spanakopita to be flakier, so it wasn’t anything to rave about. The taramasalata was nothing particular, too, and I’m normally a big fan of it. Furthermore, I didn’t like that you had to order pita separately for the dips. Friendly service and pleasant ambience, but it’s not worth the price for me.

Went for a dinner on Saturday evening. The place was packed and crammed with so many tables. The staffs were friendly but overwhelmed with so many patrons. The moussaka was delicious but that’s about it. Service was slow. Kolokithopitaki were burnt outside but quite doughy inside. Dolmades were quite acidic in flavour. Ntakos with big chunky tomatoes. Pita breads were tasty. We had to chase the deep fried calamari and it was delivered a hour after we placed the order. The restaurant had probably over ambitious about accommodating so many patrons in one time. People could hardly move out of their seats. Perhaps we came at the wrong day. It’s quite disappointing as the whole dinning experience is really disappointing regardless of all the positive reviews.

D
Desme Jeffries

Very generous platter of pitta bread, tasty prawns in a delicious tomato sauce (the best dish), I would order this dish everytime. Unfortunately the aubergine dish was overpowered with tomato (I love aubergine but couldn't taste any), and sadly the spinach and ricotta pastry had a soggy bottom and the flavour was underwhelming. I've had better greek salad elsewhere, the tomatoes weren't very tasty, the feta cheese could have been creamier and there wasn't many olives.

C
Christy Lai

I had the chicken gyros. It was good with sauce but a bit dry. I love the pita and chips, and it's big portion for a person. But the dessert was not my type, too sweet for me. The service was friendly here!

A
Anna Skalistira

We had startrers and tried the chicken and pork gyros. The dolmades were unisnpiring, tasted 100% like the tinned ones from the supermarket. I had expected at least some kind of avgolemono on them, or yoghurt or something. The kalamarakia were passable, no taste, the taramosalata with them though was lovely. Gyros portions were big, but lacked in taste and presentation. Tasted a bit dry and the pita bread had seen better days. Generally not restaurant quality food in my opinion. Having said that, service was really good.... We went following the 4.7 star reviews on here...but as Greek restaurants we have been to in the UK go, this was one isn't something we'd try again I'm afraid.

P
Pamela Kay

Our table was awful. We were put on a downstairs table and it was like being in a corridor with so many people coming in and out - so much for a quiet romantic dinner. The vegetable briam was far too salty. The whole experience was so disappointing. We were really looking forward to a lovely meal at this restaurant. We left feeling very upset

C
C B

I should have read the recent reviews about the Gyros first! Unfortunately, I also ordered the Gyros and received a small portion of almost cold, very dry meat (as it had been previously cut and left for a while) sitting on a handful fries to make it look bigger. I also ordered some Taramasalata which was one of the worst I ever have eaten. No taste of fish roe whatsoever. Looked/ tasted more like coloured majonnaise. When I complaint about the awful Gyros then the manager Roxana gave me a £0.75 discount. Thank you, that was very generous Roxana!

A
ANDY HOOKIGS

The service was good. Even we solicited the change of table due to excess of hot in the area where they put us first. The attention was absolutely fine from i initial.i not will lie. But as well the food was not the best or even on similar level of abother greek places we visited. The pita bread was over cooked and so hard like if was done previously and just put on fry for reuse it. Same situation with some of the food, it was like it was made one day before and then reheated or recooked for the taste and the hard it was. Unless one plate that was soft. I not completely understand the 12% of service charge when in most of places i visited, and i been in restaurants in the most parts of UK, and nor ally it was between 7 and 10 % depending where and what quality restaurant. But the food must be better quality for the price. 150 for two shared plates and 2 juices and 3 soft drinks, is too expensive for what you get. I put the proof of how good the food looks ( thats true looks so good ).

D
David Marshall

Disappointing food and service. We were shown past many free, well lit and spacious tables to be sat in a dark room upstairs by a busy door. We had the spinach pie and halloumi starter, followed by chicken and pork gyros. The spinach pie was bland and not like any I've had in Greece, pastry was not flaky. The chicken was ok but pork had an unpleasant smell. The gyros meat was piled atop chips leaving them greasy. Salad was tasteless and pittas were tough and chewy. Very disappointing considering the excellent reviews.

Really disappointed … I have sent to emails and have not had a response I was not going to put anything on social media as I thought they might of got back to me with an apology but nothing. Me and my partner went out on the 2/01/26 for a date night we don’t get them often as have kids we went to the Greek restaurant people were friendly and nice atmosphere. We had our food after 2 hours my partner feel really sick and a hour after that I did, we were so unwell for around 48 hours. I emailed the jars meeze to say what had happend a few days later as it ruined our night we had to get home quickly as we were feeling so bad. I have tried to email twice with no reply and the website said 24 hours response. Really disappointed as was highly recommend. There was something wrong as food poisioning should not hit that quickly and both at the same time. An apology or something would have been a good will gesture instead of ignoring me. I would never go again or recommend to anyone and the lack of customer care after is bad and not a good way to run your bussiness! I never complain about things but I would hate for anyone else to fall unwell. Please check your meat and your work stations so this doesn’t happen to anyone else! A reply on here would be nice!
