We had brandon as our host and he was the best, this restaurant is blessed to have him. Very wonderful and so helpful, was fast and helped everyone. The food was great, we had sushi, lobster roll and the seafood pasta all very fresh and tasty. The drinks were very good as well, we had the dpisco sour, old fashion and expresso martini.all excellent drinks. Def coming back and recommend this place. The view is also amazing, right in front of the beach.
This summer everyone was very accommodating. Service was “IMPECCABLE “! Better than last year, why I didn’t come back till now and glad I did. It’s my groups tradition to come every memorial/Labor Day weekend (did come in between). Even though it was super busy our server Arianna and my group had a very nice conversation. Matt and Christopher were not our servers, were also accommodating. A very memorable night. Having photographer there was a nice touch. I forgot her name.
You will pay up coming here. $240 sheesh 3 people, 1 drink 2 deserts Plates were on the smallish side. Similar pricing to next door, whals wharf. Giant beautiful venue, I mean it's quite impressive. We certainly understand the prices especially if they can't pack the place full. Attentive servers, though it was a bit empty. Wife complained about the hostess from the getgo, waiter was cool and very patient. All in all, happy 🙂 though we're likely not a suitable client to revisit. Fatten up those plate sizes for the price, felt a bit pigeony?
When you come into Ocean you can always expect excellent service (especially when you ask for Ashley or Richy). This Sunday on Mother’s Day was our first time going back into Ocean since they have opened for the summer. We were seated with Ashley who elevated our experience and entire day! Her bubbly personality and attentiveness was genuine and truly appreciated. I highly recommend checking it out this summer if you’re looking for good vibes, impeccable service, and delicious food!
Bella was absolutely amazing! She was warm, attentive, and made our dining experience feel extra special. She anticipated what we needed before we even had to ask, gave great recommendations, and had such a positive, friendly attitude throughout the meal. You can tell she really cares about her customers. Easily one of the best servers we’ve had—thank you, Bella!
I had such a great experience here. Andrew was such a fantastic waiter and the manager David was great. The staff here are so accommodating and attentive and the food was delicious. Plus amazing views! Highly recommend coming here
Absolutely beautiful!! The restaurant and the views are stunning and staff was very attentive and accommodating. The sushi is amazing, we also had the Jumbo Shrimp and Ocean Pasta - delicious! Highly recommended!
AMAZING atmosphere and even better food and drinks. Our server (I unfortunately forgot his name) was amazing, attentive and ready to reccomend the best options from the menu. We trusted him and tried the Yellow Lantern Roll from the sushi menu and all I have to say is it's easily in the top 5 of best sushi rolls I've ever had. Drink wise I definitely reccomend the Paloma (served in a cute patron bottle) or the Orange Spritz. I had both 😁
Was here last year when James was running things and honestly it was a mess. Total chaos. But came back recently and wow, what an improvement. Andrew is the new manager and the whole place feels way more relaxed and put together. We had dollar diva David as our server this time and he was amazing. Staff was on point all night, cracking jokes here and there but still super attentive. It felt more like having dinner at a friends place. The food was great too. The ocean pasta was great full of seafood and the veal chop was great. I did see some of the negative stuff people were saying about how they were treated and I just don’t get it. Our group felt totally welcomed and respected the whole night. We’ll definitely be back, hungry for more.
We arrived early for our dinner so we decided to have a drink by the outside bar. Definitely recommend the lychee rose martini. The waitress was very nice, bringing my husband a glass of water so he would have something too. We purposely came for the lobster night and it was definitely worth it. I had cesaer salad and my husband had the New England chowder. Both were huge portions and delicious. We did have to wait for the lobster dinner but the staff kept us updated and asked if we would like something while we waited. Well the wait was worth it. The lobster was excellent and streamed perfectly. The vegetables and potatoes were al dente . Then desert was delicious, my husband had the brownie and ice cream and I had the berries with cream. Definitely recommend this restaurant for both food and quality of service
During our return visit, securing a table was effortlessly done. The delectable food and drinks perfectly complemented the breathtaking panoramic views. Our servers David and Matt provided exceptional service. Manager James ensured our time at Ocean was unforgettable. Overall, the staff's courtesy and hospitality exceeded any other experience.
My friend and I drove all the way from The Bronx NY just to have dinner here, and let me tell you… we were not disappointed at all!! The food, the customer service, atmosphere..TOP TIER ! Our waiter Will, made sure that everything was perfect and made sure we were comfortable. Thank you so much Will and to the rest of the staff at Ocean Bayville !
Everyone needs to go here at least one night during the Summer. It’s on the beach and the sunset view is amazing. When you post pictures everyone will think you are on a Caribbean Island. The entire staff is friendly and hard working, but the maitre d James is outstanding. We were seated close to the hostess stand so we could see how hard he was working to make sure everything ran smoothly. Being so close we could also hear how he was speaking to staff, as well as guests and that was where his true professionalism really came out. He never once spoke unkindly to the staff. I have been witness to this in many other restaurants and it has caused me not to go back to them. He was on top of the game and made sure everyone was happy and having a great time. He was friendly and made the experience even better. Absolutely do not let the Summer of 2022 pass you by without going here. I promise you will love it.
It was a Saturday evening so it was very busy, service was a bit disappointing but it didn't ruin the experience completely... The food and cocktails were superb and the atmosphere and views were impresive to say the least. The spicy red dragon sushi was incredibly delicious and I would come back on a quieter day just to get that efficient service and enjoy this sushi again. Still, I rate this 5 starts because I understand that the location and times we live in makes it hard to staff a restaurant properly.
Came here following my daughter's HS Graduation. Small party of 8. Short wait. Food was good, although the menu is a bit limited for my kids, the burgers were a hit. (We did have to send a few back that were over/undercooked, but it was all done with a smile.) Our server was Gabriel I believe. He was terrific!! My brother was impressed by the fact that the hostess wiped down all the menus in between guests. And the view.. well, spectacular. Deserts were terrific too! Will definitely return here! 👍👍
Dining at Ocean was an unforgettable experience. The ambiance was serene, with breathtaking views of the sunset over the water, setting the perfect tone for a relaxing evening. The seafood pasta was a true delight, with fresh mussels, clams, and shrimp, perfectly cooked and tossed in a rich, flavorful sauce. The outdoor seating added an extra layer of enjoyment, allowing us to savor our meal with the calming sounds of the waves in the background. A special mention to Jack, our waiter, who made the evening even more enjoyable with his attentive and friendly service. Ocean truly captures the essence of coastal dining, blending exquisite flavors with a picturesque setting.
This is a nice, calming place. The view is awesome, but on the down side is they don’t let us go on the beach which is totally understandable. There are no mosquitos whatsoever, but the staff is kind. They have a lower level for private parties, weddings etc. and upstairs is for happy hour.
We had an amazing first time experience at this restaurant! We started with crab cake, calamari and california rolls as appetizers, they were all amazing!! Main meals were lobster roll, salmon and the ocean pasta which were all amazing as well. Service was excellent!! Valley was a plus. We made reservations and they took as right in! Would definitely be back!!!
The view and the food was wonderful! Our waitress Tory went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed and were happy. It was obvious to us that James (Manager) took pride in his job. He came to all the tables introduced himself and asked if all was well. We will certainly be back!
First time here and LOVE this place! Had lunch Sunday afternoon with my girlfriend and it was definitely the best weather this summer so far, could not have picked a better day to sit outside and take in the amazing views. The food, service and atmosphere can’t be beat. James the Manager was so accommodating and ran his staff so efficiently. The sushi, soup and salads were fresh and delicious. Great atmosphere and vibe. Highly recommend!
My girlfriends and I had an awesome experience dining at Ocean last week! Such a beautiful view of the Long Island sound and especially the sunset on the sunset deck! The food was absolutely delicious….from the grilled octopus, seared salmon, eggplant meatballs and of course the famous Mr. LEE’s Dragon sushi roll , and you must have the bread pudding bites for dessert! Drinks are outstanding! The hostess Gabby was a true delight! Very pleasant and helpful in assisting us with reservations for party of 6! There was no wait time, and she quickly whisked us away to our table. Our server David was an absolute pleasure to assist us with our dining experience. He was extremely knowledgeable of the menu, and assisted us with our choices. David never rushed us and it was nearing closing time, and truly made our girls night experience a very pleasurable one ! We are certainly very grateful for the expertise and professionalism of these staff members and look very forward to return again very soon! Thank you!
Amazing!!! We had an incredible dining experience at Ocean. Made a reservation but got there around 7 on a Friday. Got a nice seat outside and watched the most incredible sunset. The staff was so nice! We got edamame, the lobster roll, the chef’s sushi roll, the yellow lantern roll, two glasses od red wine and an espresso martini. Everything was so good!! Can’t say enough good things about this place. There was also a bar up top with more seating outside. Will definitely be back!
This place is stunning and beautiful, true place to call a beach club. The views of the waters and feeling the breeze was amazing. I went for a birthday brunch and we had a great time, sitting outside have a few drinks and food! The lychee rose martini is a must, was very delicious, the food was amazing we had several appetizers and the calamari was so good, but the best thing is the crab cake, along with their shrimp and Cesaer salad. The seafood entree dishes tasted delightful and fresh!! The lobster rolls are a must, but also the risotto with shrimp was very good, along with the seafood pasta and the salmon. I’m not a big dessert person but the berries and cream was light and a perfect dessert for the beach, along with the cheesecake and the crème brûlée. This is a perfect place to come and feel one with the water along with great service and food. They also had an upstairs with live music which is a perfect ambience for a group of friends and family.
Highly recommend! We came over by boat and were late on our res but they were super accommodating on a busy Saturday evening. The service and food were fantastic and we felt like we were on vacation… the views can’t be beat. The sushi and 16 oz ribeye were delicious. Special shoutout to our server Brendan - incredible service!
This restaurant made me feel as though I was somewhere out in Ft. Lauderdale, eating dinner by the beach! My family came for dinner here and I was impressed with the food, the service and the atmosphere! They even had live music and steel pan!! 100% recommend here! Worth the price and the visit! PS: The lobster roll was heavenly - so good I had to get two of them 😋
I ABSOLUTELY enjoyed every moment here. You will not believe you are in New York. Great place for a date, family gathering, or out with the girls/guys. My meal was tasty and the same for my friends we had an added treat because we were privy to a wedding. This place is also a catering venue, which I would definitely consider for a wedding. GORGEOUS... SUNSET ... BEACH.. EVERYTHING!
Got ahead of Mother’s Day Sunday and had reservations for dinner on Saturday instead. That decision was a game changer for our first time visit. First off huge shout out to the best server ever “ARIANNA” Super pleasant, all her recommendations were spot on, simply awesome. The views.. take your breath away. It’s like you left NY. Shout out to GM Mel Barcos who was so gracious and made us feel right at home. An absolute 5 star experience from start to finish. The drive up is also a treat for the eyes with all the lovely estates lining your path the whole way. There happened to be a volunteer fire dept event happening simultaneously which was nice to witness NY’s bravest being honored. The only area that could stand to improve was the meal. We had the catch of the day which was very bland both the fish and the risotto(which I noticed is a general complaint from most lower rated reviews). Portion size is also on the small side especially for the price. Level up your budget for this experience. Looking forward to visiting again Mel in the near future. Appreciate your hospitality. Cheers 🥂 to another adventure. Thanks for a top notch Mother’s day experience 💕
Bella was absolutely amazing. Very attentive and personable waitress. She made our experience here worth it by her amazing personality and making recommendations on amazing food and drinks. More waitresses like Bella would be an asset to your establishment. The view is absolutely breath taking.
Had the pleasure of celebrating my Husband’s birthday at Ocean on Saturday night. Not only was the view breathtaking but the service was impeccable. Our servers Zach and Anthony paid careful attention to make sure we were enjoying our experience and truly went above and beyond. I recommend the Crab Cake and Calamari. The kids enjoyed their cheeseburgers, husband loved the Salmon with Wild Rice and I had the Sushi which was absolutely delicious and fresh. This was our second time there within a week and continues to be our family favorite. ❤️ so lucky to have such a wonderful Restaurant so close to home!
Andrew made our experience back in August, truly memorable! He was warm, helpful, and so attentive to us. He was handling all of our requests so gracefully. He went above and beyond to make our mom feel special on her birthday! His amazing service def needs to be commemorated! The cherry on top in addition to this beautiful restaurant!
Beautiful night to watch the sunset while enjoying dinner and drinks! Our server David was excellent. Very professional, kind and attentive to our table as well as others he was tending too. I had the lobster roll which was full of fresh lobster and my wife had salmon. The bread was an up charge but so worth it. Crispy and delicious. Drinks were amazing and the sunset was spectacular. Below us was a private party with a live band so we got to listen to Jimmy Buffet Margarita music and a variety of songs. Perfect night at Ocean restaurant. .
First time trying out this gem of a restaurant by the beach. Glad the sun came out it made it more beautiful outside while eating dinner.Food was delicious! We had the baked clams, rice ball with tuna and also an order of loaf bread with a delicious butter spread. My entrée was Jumbo shrimp with risoto so good if you like the seafood taste. Another entrée was a poke bowl fresh tuna, lobster, salmon, kani salad and rich topped with fresh mango and spicy mayo sauce delicious! Last entrée was the grilled chicken with mashed potatoes and string beans also delicious and light.. No dessert was ordered we were all too full lol but im sure it would of been amazing as well... There is also a sushi menu as well.. There is variety of meals and apps you can choose from.. I believe the lunch menu is different from the dinner menu so definitely look online before you choose a time.. Atmosphere was nice there was a wedding going on while we were there so beautiful. I would definitely recommend to sit outside to see the beach and sunrise.
Loved the sunset vibe and view! The food was pretty average .nothing wow, but also nothing to complain about. Service wasn’t nearly as bad as some reviews say. You can park yourself, which is a plus. Great spot for a small friends’ gathering. We were a group of 8, and there’s a 20% service charge.
This place was beautiful. It’s a great spot to take someone for a celebratory lunch or dinner in a great location. The food was okay. It had great presentation, but the taste wasn’t it for me. The drinks weren’t spectacular either. I had chicken au jus with mashed potatoes along with a Hampton’s guava margarita. They have a steel band that plays on Sunday afternoons if the weather permits which really created an ambiance of a little getaway from the city life.
We decided to celebrate my aunt’s birthday at Ocean, and I’ll start by saying the sunset view was absolutely amazing. We dined upstairs with a party of nine, including two teens and one child, and the atmosphere was perfect for the occasion. Appetizers: • Thai Shrimp – 8/10 • Traditional Calamari – 8/10 • Baked Clams – 10/10 (a table favorite!) Dinner: I had the Scottish Salmon (6/10) with a side of creamed spinach (9/10). The Ocean Pasta (8/10) was also a hit!!! Rich, flavorful, and satisfying. Sushi: They also offer a sushi menu, so we decided to try it. Unfortunately, it was a bit underwhelming. • California Roll – 2/10 (fell apart easily, soggy rice) • Eel Special – 7/10 • Three Roll Combo – 7/10 Overall, the view and several dishes really shined, but the sushi missed the mark. Still, Ocean delivered a lovely setting for a special celebration.
This is a beautiful beachfront ocean view restaurant. Upon arrival you will have your car valet so you can enter right in. The food here was great and the dessert was absolutely delicious. I devoured my food and ate everything on my plate. I would definitely come back here (if I wasn’t the one paying for the food - because I will say it’s on the higher end scale, I don’t know if I’d personally pay that much for food again) but it was super yummy and great for a date night dinner or romantic date. The sunset was so beautiful and the view was amazing. One of my friends had a different experience as she did not like the salmon but I can’t speak for her - I can only speak for my experience and overall my experience was great. I’d recommend coming here and id come back for a special night
I was looking for a nice place for lunch with my girlfriends. It such a beautiful restaurant inside and out. Food was good but could be better. But still decent. Drinks were great. They have a great selection of drinks. A little disappointed that you could not go to the beach from the restaurant. I thought we would be able to take pictures but instead we just took pictures on the deck. I would definitely go back
View is fantastic. Food is average. Lobster roll and seafood pasta were okay. Clam chowder was meh. The strawberry shortbread was too sweet for us. Service is somehow lacking. We did not get spoons for the soup and the dessert, until we asked for it. Also, we found out on the site that even if you make a reservation for outdoor seats, it’s not guaranteed. Nevertheless, it’s still worth going for the views.
First time here and probably won’t return but not because I had terrible service but for the price, and the size of quantity of food don’t match. Taste was yummy but nothing spectacular, loved the ambiance and views from the outdoor patio. It was me and the wifey and kids and nanny. Enjoy a NY Strip Steak, Grilled Chicken, Sea Food Endeavor that carries Clams,Shrimp,Oysters, and Lobster. Valet and Waiter service was super great, nice and attentive. We were able to leave the car with valet and walk over about 3 driveways and end up at a beach with a swing set for the kids to enjoy; I thought that was really neat. No extra charge, you just don’t take your car and walk 5min to get the the playground. We had ice cream and a type of cheese cake that was very delicious at the restaurant almost forgot to mention that. $400-460 spent in one afternoon.
Visited this restaurant for its stunning views, but the food and service were a letdown. The oysters were dry and small, and while the seafood pasta was good, the chicken was overcooked and the salmon's sides not fresh. Service was hard to find, and the high prices didn't match the food quality. Great for a romantic date night for the scenery, but not ideal for family gatherings. Worth a visit for the view, but manage your culinary expectations.
Went for dinner on Tuesday August 19th at 730p. Hostess was able to seat us promptly on the outer deck which faces west. We had a table right on the rail and it was lovely. Although we needed to ask to have a server come visit our table after 5 minutes of not being visited we were happy with the service after that. This was especially true when the downstairs wedding party was smoking underneath our table during dinner service. We spoke to our server and she promised to see what she could do to resolve the issue. She came back a few minutes later and the situation was much improved. For the record we were not the only table disturbed by the smell of cigarette smoke, although it reminded me of eating out in the 80s. Duck tacos were good but had too much bbq sauce for our liking. They honestly could have served us shredded chicken thighs and we would not be able to discern between the two. Ocean salad was refreshing but could have used more acid to balance the beets. The grilled chicken was not memorable. The lobster was the saving grace and was exquisite. A quality item with minimal mayo, claw meat on full display. When we go back we will definitely have the Ocean pasta. I recommend this destination for a lovely date night.
My mom and I visited on Wednesday. The atmosphere was great and the view was amazing. We had Arianna as our server and she was great. She was attentive but not overbearing, and she recommended wonderful items from the menu. If I had to rate the drinks they were 10/10 and the food is 8 out of 10. I would definitely go back.
Ocean is an absolutely beautiful venue alone. The peaceful sound of the crashing waves outside sets the mood for the rest of the service. It’s stunning and feels like something away from home, truly. Entering, my husband and I weren’t greeted by staff, which I noticed they did for others who were ahead of us. We stood around awkwardly for a while before someone finally took notice of us and offered a table. We were handed the menus quickly, but again, it took some time before we had our choice of water offered. With the initial hiccups out of the way with service, the food was phenomenal! We had the calamari (which was so tender and delicious that I didn’t snap a photo!) and our entrees afterwards were just as good. My husband had the catch of the day, which was fresh and beautifully cooked and I had the seafood pasta. Just as fresh and the sauce was fantastic! We were too full to try dessert, but other tables around us had ordered and the options looked amazing! I would absolutely recommend Ocean for a date night or something special for an out of town friend. It’s worth it!
I've been a customer since the venue became Ocean years ago. Hadn't visited for almost 10 years. Experience was consistent with what I remembered. The food is pretty good. We ordered a meatball and a crab cake appetizer. They were both tasty. The delicate sauce accompanying the meatball was really good. The crab cake was flavorful, the breadcrumb coating crispy without being greasy. Our hot lobster roll and ribeye steak were both "good." Kids burger and fries looked appetizing. Service was good. Called in advance and asked if there was immediate seating outdoors for three. The person I talked to said yes. When we arrived we wanted to park our own car but both sides of the lot were closed and we had to use the valet. They said they were expecting to be busy. There was no one at the restaurant greeter desk when we arrived. Two team members quickly came. The restaurant was pretty empty. They asked if we had a reservation. We weren't sure how it was going to go from there. I said We had just called and had been told we can sit outside with no wait. It was not a problem and we were seated outside on the third floor where the other customers were seated. Everything was smooth from that point. Such a beautiful location on the beach. Location has always been one of the best kept secrets in my opinion. They also had live entertainment outside while we were there. We enjoyed the music. I remember the live music years ago during indoor dinner on the second floor too. It has always been a nice touch. I can't remember if it existed years back too, but there was now a disclaimer on the bottom of the menu that says something along the lines of that groups of 4 or less can only have a table for 90 minutes. I don't know how long we were at our table, but it wasn't an issue for us during our visit.
Update to review below from 7/5/21: to their credit, the manager mentioned in my review (Samantha) very promptly and professionally reached out to me the next day to apologize and discuss my experience to try to make it right. While I appreciate their offer to return, unfortunately, we live far from the restaurant and don't have childcare unless family visits. :( The best thing about this place without a doubt is the view. It has so much going for it regarding location and structure/decor - whoever designed it was so thoughtful and careful to create the best dining experience. Unfortunately, the execution of it is terrible. The staff are very inexperienced, immature and poorly trained/managed. Staff were loud, cursing and talking with each other as though guests weren't present. We came before sunset (which was amazing from the top deck) for our first date night since the pandemic started. We had reservations and were promptly seated. There was all kinds of yelling among the staff that "we're out of sushi!" (despite it only being 7:45pm and sushi being half of their menu). We had to ask our server what the night's special grilled item was, server didn't know but said he'd check and it was "probably salmon, or branzino" and then stood there waiting, assuming that whatever the item was we'd want it. It was so odd/awkward. I then asked if the shrimp on the salad was grilled and he assured me yes but when the salad finally came out over an hour later, the shrimp was chilled. He then proceeded to argue with me that the shrimp I was seeing/touching was, in fact, 100% grilled. It was ridiculous. He returned with the same salad that I saw him walk around with aimlessly for 2 minutes. That's when I lost it and asked to see the manager. He never sent the manager and instead returned to the table with a plate of warm, lightly grilled shrimp. I gave up and started eating (meanwhile my husband was nearly done with his dinner). Then two bar patrons came up from the lounge and sat next to us, blasting music from their cell phone, which the staff ignored until I found the manager and asked her to please do something about it. She handled it quickly and said to stay as long as we want to finish our coffee, but then our server told us to leave because "the deck is closing" (even though restaurant wasn't). Wish I could like this place but NO.
Ummmm...I was expecting better food here but the food doesn't come any where close to the amazing view here. For the price of 60 dollar for an 8oz ny steak, I expect it to be cook how I wanted. I wanted medium rare but I was serve medium well. The seafood pasta was blend, pretty disappointed but at least the view was nice. I will only recommend the caesar salad here LOL. One more thing, instead of being on top of the ice my oysters and clams were soaked in water. Thats 3 oyster, 3 clam and half a lobster for 65 dollar in which I have to brutally crack open the lobster claw. 😂
With great anticipation, and the hope of a tranquil Saturday afternoon lunch; we made our first journey to Ocean - valet was a nice surprise as was the hostess letting us have our choice of a tables on the deck - First challenge; the chairs - they are absolutely too low for the table hight and my wife felt silly as did I leaning back in a reclining position to eat. Next we tried two recommendations for drinks a rose, and the special Gin drink, both were challenging - the rose arrived with something floating and required a new glass and my purple gin drink with lemonade was straight gin with a heavy pour also needing adjustment. The lobster sliders were tasty but tiny for the price and the coleslaw had an unexpected tang we could not figure out. The Cesar’s salad with no protein for the dollars was a shocker as was my burger for 27 but we were paying for the location and an experience, surprisingly the taste of both offered the few high notes of the meal - Our service was ok, with a hurry and clear the plates attitude reserved for Saturday night and not an empty lunch service from the very young and still in training staff - the main challenge and reason we skipped dessert was the music emanating from the sweet 16 party adjoining the restaurant - too loud, too close, no warning, no apologies, just thump thump thump and an end of our tranquil lunch - for $130 a burger and salad should come with an expectation of service and ambiance - this restaurant and it’s wonderful location are competing with party time. The staff and it’s manager (who failed to visit us once even though we had challenges) is in need of more service training to bring us back… YCDB - as we say, You Can Do Better …
Came here for a big lunch... The location is very good. The views are great. The food is good, but could be better. The problem was the service. Negative 1 star: Very inattentive, and lackluster. I had to ask for silverware a few times, spoon for the oyster vinegar, horseradish, just not very attentive. Negative 1/2 star: We started with dozen oysters, some of them were very small, and stuck to the shell, which makes me question freshness... Shrimp cocktail good Caesar salad good Calamari good Steamed lobster - was a little bit on the tough side Negative 1/2 star: Ordered their Seafood pasta, and for $36, the portion was extremely small. I can't see it being a main course, the portion was more like a lunch portion but should have been half the price. Gave up on dessert as server was MIA most of the meal.
We went for dinner 6 of us. First they wouldn’t sit 4 of us at 6:25pm for a 6:30pm reservation at the table we wanted because all had to be present. At 6:35 all 6 were present and they gave away the table we wanted. They wanted to put 6 of us at a table that would fit 4! Finally got that all straightened out and we had a table to accommodate 6. Had a great dinner and the atmosphere was gorgeous. Our waiter, Anthony, was awesome. Great service and he was so pleasant. At 8:35pm as we were finishing our dessert and were planning on ordering after dinner drinks the waiter informed us that the manager needed to move our table along. There were no other people waiting for tables. So incredibly rude & not how customers who spent a good amount of money should be treated. Shame on the manager to have a young waiter do that to his customers. Was a great dinner it was unfortunate for that to be done to us.
Remember what u pay, 1/2 gone to the view, food not value for pricy or quantities or quality, some so-so, some very small portion, some as salty as dead sea. But if u do not mind of $ and need take moments relax get cup of sipping, good spot. But foodie as me, disappointed. Front desk woman as playing card face. Cold and no emotion, hell no ! front desk cool and cooler as FBI. Do not think will back again, cause I can pack my food go seashore any mins. But touch my heart was waitress, sorry can not give her Name, most talented / nice/ professional way she did, save owner’s business.
Although located on the beach, had no access to it. Pretty view from upstairs but the sun beaming right on us made it way too hot and uncomfortable. Food was just ok. Lobster roll just ok. Ocean pasta same. Oysters had to send back. Extremely small and weren’t shucked. Calamari good but portions too small.
The atmosphere is very pleasant, but if you don't keep consuming, don't think you'll be able to stay longer, enjoying the atmosphere and considering ordering more, as they'll compulsively ask you if you're going to order anything else and bring you the bill without asking. The prices are quite high considering the amount of food. They easily charge $45 for a roll with six small pieces of lobster.
Came on a sunday afternoon for lunch. The atmosphere is great, and the outdoor seats allow for good views of the ocean, although guests are prohibited from going to the beach area. The food was alright. The crab cakes and duck tacos were good appetizers. The $10 bread was alright, but nothing special. The squid calamari was very dry, and all the squid meat was shriveled and chewy. For entrees, the noodles of the ocean pasta were a little overcooked and mushy, although the sauce was pretty good. The halibut fish was fine, but the asparagus on the bottom was overcooked and mushy. The veal chop lacked salt and was overall underwhelming for its 65 dollar price tag. The lobster in the lobster roll didn't taste fresh, and some of the salt and vinegar chips weren't even fully cooked, they were still soft. They also didn't have any vinegar flavor.
DO NOT EVER GO THERE FOR FOOD. Took my wife for a sunset dinner. Amazing views. Kids were working with no regard to which tables needed attention. Food was the worst part besides service. Never had linguini taste like boiled water sauce. Horrible horrible food. Overpriced. They are lucky to have a venue that has a view. Otherwise, it should be out of business. I guess tasteless meal is normal for them as long the catering business is booming and people overpay. DO NOT GO TO EAT THERE. Weddings and catering are different. I hope.
Service was so bad. Sat down at 7:20 had to ask for the server at 7:40 put out entire order in. Got the main course first then the drinks and then the shared apps for the table? It just kind of all came out at the wrong time. The salad was supposed to have goat cheese came out with Parmesan. Didn’t look at all how it was described and didn’t even want to eat it. Sushi and drinks were good
Let me start this review by saying the food, drinks & ambience were incredible, also our waitress was attentive and great. However the front of the house manager on the other hand needs to find a different career. We arrived at 12:40 PM a little early for a 1:00 PM reservation for 6 people. First the hostess can’t find our reservation and starts making us pull up proof on our phone and mind you the restaurant is empty not busy at all. We didn’t have email or text proof but we had a voicemail from the same exact hostess calling a day prior confirming our reservation. At this point this is where for the front of the house manager butts in. He was absolutely rude and disrespectful to us right from the start not believing we even had a reservation. When he finally agrees to seat us he says “your reservation is for 6 people there are only 4 of you here” and then says “your going to have to wait until your entire party is here before we can seat you, it’s policy and we won’t allow you to hold a table”. I can understand not wanting to seat us until our entire party is here if we didn’t have a reservation but we had a reservation and we weren’t holding tables. We wanted to be seated to start ordering drinks and appetizers, our other 2 party members were stuck in a little traffic. Finally after pleading and going back and forth he sat us before the rest of our party got there. He was rude, dismissive & shady. We weren’t seated at the table that we requested in our reservation because they lost the reservation so they had no proof we requested a specific table and when we asked to go to that table we wanted he said “nope it’s already reserved for another party”, and the reason I said he was shady was because I saw him take a cash tip from the party he sat there. So I guess at this restaurant if you throw the front of the house manager a $20 you will get a good table. I also witnessed this manager yelling at servers and treating his staff poorly. So although the food was good I will not be coming back if this manager is running things. Lastly, it was a member of our groups birthday and we let the hostess and FOH manager know and they didn’t care or do anything for us.
Yesterday was me and my husband 4th years anniversary. I just see so much good reviews about this restaurant and I was so excited about to have great time at this beautiful place. But the food was not fresh. The mussels was stinky and the service was terrible, it was so disappointed. The place was very beautiful and the view was amazing, it just the food and service not so great. I give the two star for the view.
Agreed that what you pay for is the view. Unfortunately the food and service will disappoint. Ordered drinks to start but one was missing ( cuz they had to “ look for more cucumber) Some dinner items came while others were severely delayed . When we inquired where are food was we were told there was a “ new chef” Meat ordered medium came out over cooked. Sushi is probably your best bet. You will pay a lot of money for a nice view but unfortunately the rest of your experience will be disappointing. Bella our waitress was very sweet but will definitely not go back !
Very disappointing experience. Felt more like a cafeteria than a proper restaurant. Drinks came without glasses, we had to ask for new plates after the aperitif, and they were just stacked on the table — like we had to replace them ourselves. If you’re sitting outside, beware — we were eaten alive by mosquitoes. The main dishes (fish, calamari, crab) were all burnt and completely inedible. No one cleared the table during the entire meal. The bill even included items we never ordered. Would not recommend.
The view of this place was so amazing. Coming to Oyster Bay to eat fresh oysters as we expected. However, it turned out opposit from we thought. I never seen a 4$ oyster with this quality, dirty with mud, sand and oyster's muscle still attached. Im very dissappointed. The manager came to speak with us saying it fresh and said that the way they eat. We were nice enough to tip the waiters 25% Oh well... I let my photos speaks.
Honestly it happened to me twice: I ordered table outdoor patio on 2 floor specifically on the phone lady took my order saying it was not in problem. When I get there on Saturday a man with glasses around age 50-54 in front desk didn't get me my spot outdoor patio on 2 floor and I repeatedly ask him why he told it was busy but I continued that I made my reservation at 7:00., He didn't care kept flowing with other customers not paying attention and ignoring, so why you need reservation than, I thought it is ok maybe they were busy, after 3 weeks I made reservation with same request outdoor patio again for Thursday night at 7:00 when I get there lady told yes it was fine but same man with glasses said rain was coming so he can't put me on 2 floor but "never rained, meantime they had customers upstairs So avoid reservation on 2 floor porch if you want to have your dinner there you would not get unless this man with glasses in front desk There are a lot of restaurants in Long Island I was going for summer view in front of ocean traveling from queens driving 1:40 mi and going back total 3-3:30 min fur this restaurant I think it is just unfair Overall food is good unfortunately no going back anymore rather travel somewhere where you get your request will be accepted.
I have to honestly say, this is the WORST restaurant ever!!! You are only paying for the ocean view look. Let's start with their racist attitude, they had plenty of seats on the outside for two people, when I asked if we could sit out there, they said the seat were reserved for other guest. After sitting there for almost two hours, I noticed the those outside seats were never occupied. The manager & the staff was just totally dismissive & horrible on all levels. The food portion is soooooo small, for the price you pay. You get absolutely nothing for money. If you're going in there with a appetite, you will leave out there with that same feeling, still hungry!! The portion sizes was so small, even a five year old, would still be hungry when they leave that place. When we left the restaurant, we had to still pick up more food on the way home! And the drinks were watered down! That was ridiculous! Bottom line, don't waste your hard earned money there, if you're looking for quality & quantity service. They need to close that place up!! Extremely bad service!!
We went there on Wednesday, really hot and humid day. We choose to sit outside. They gave us seats next to a family less than 5 feet away. No one bothered to check the umbrella or anything to make sure that we are fine. We ordered lettuce wrap without chicken, hummus plate, grilled salmon and zucchini pasta with virgin Mojito and Watermelon Martini. The appetizers came in cheap plastic baskets with tiny plastic dip cups with lids in absolutely cheap servings. 2 people bill without alcohol , sea food and meat came out $143 and with nom deserving $20 tip we paid $163 for a tasteless,, cheap and below the average food. Only view was great.
The experience did not meet expectations. While the food was decent, the service was highly disappointing and left much to be desired. Upon arrival, we checked in for our reservation and were promptly escorted to our table. However, the issues began soon after. Our waiter immediately asked if we were ready to order drinks, but we had just received the drink menu and needed more time. We waited for 25 minutes before the waiter returned, which was incredibly frustrating. When he finally came back, we placed both our drink and food orders. The appetizer was fine, though nothing special. When the main courses arrived, the waiter cleared the table but placed our used forks and knives directly on the table instead of on a napkin, which felt unsanitary. As we were ¾ of the way through our entrees, the waiter rudely asked if we wanted the check. We hadn’t even finished eating! We then requested the dessert menu, which was brought to us by the hostess. However, our waiter came over and took the dessert orders while our entrees were still on the table. When the desserts arrived, our entrees still hadn’t been cleared, and the waiter was holding our now melting desserts while asking someone else to clear the table. By the time we could actually enjoy the desserts, the vanilla ice cream had melted into a puddle. As if this wasn’t enough, the hostess came over to tell us there was a 90-minute limit on the table, which we were never informed of when booking the reservation. It felt incredibly rude, especially considering the poor service and 25 min wait earlier we had received up until that point. On top of everything, we had come for beach access, but it was unavailable due to a private event. Overall, the food was average, but the service was below par for the high prices. I had high hopes for this restaurant, but I can’t recommend it based on this experience. The lack of attention to detail and the slow, unsanitary service overshadowed what could have been a pleasant meal.
My BFF wanted to take me for a birthday dinner. I chose this place. Unfortunately for me worst birthday dinner ever! Horrible service. Entree came before my salad. ceasar had no dressing! Manhattan chowder saltier than the Atlantic with no protein in it. I got the salmon entree- tolerable at best. Sub par service & food but still tipped the 18% minimum because we thought we’d give the waitstaff a break. My friend and I were catching up talking and God forbid even though we came at 6:20, at 7:39 we were told that we had “stayed 2 hours” (not true) and the “maximum seating time is 1.5 hours”. Felt very belittling to single us out like that out of the blue. As a frequent patron of numerous dining institutions across the world this was a first. Apparently the rule was not for all since the couple who was having their entree when we arrived were still seated! I don’t usually leave reviews but WOULD NOT RECOMMEND this lousy diner. Great view of the water is the only good thing they have going. Go to Louie’s in Port Washington instead. Oh- Thought we would see a line of people waiting to get in. There was not one person waiting.
I typically don’t write reviews; however, for this restaurant, felt it was necessary. I received a double charge on my credit card. I called the restaurant not once, not twice, not three times, BUT FOUR TIMES IN TOTAL. The restaurant manager, Mel, mentioned he would look into the matter after taking my information. Never heard back. Physically went back to the restaurant (which was a trip) just to be told he wasn’t there and they would take my information again. NO RESPONSE BACK. I recommend paying cash only so they won’t scam you out of almost $100. Food was great but customer service was distasteful. Will not be going back.
The restaurant has a beautiful view which we really enjoyed. Unfortunately, the rest of the experience was disappointing. Service was slow we waited a while before our server came to take our order. The food did not meet expectations the sushi rolls didn’t seem fresh, and the other dishes we ordered lacked flavor. Overall, the atmosphere was the highlight, but the food and service left us underwhelmed. Do not recommend coming here if you are looking for good food.
We live nearby and have been to Ocean multiple times. The food’s always been mediocre, but the view is nice, so we’ve gone back now and then. After today, never again. My husband and I just wanted a drink and brought our daughter in her stroller. It was a Monday, 90% of the first floor was empty, and about half of the second floor was too. I politely asked the hostess if we could sit downstairs since carrying a stroller upstairs is a pain. She flat-out refused: “If you only want a drink, you have to sit by the bar.” We parked the stroller, carried the car seat upstairs, and found there was no space in the bar area for it. The gentleman at reception understood and let us sit outside instead. But while we were waiting for the menu, the same hostess came up and repeated, “Do you just want drinks? You have to sit by the bar.” It’s ridiculous. The place was mostly empty, we were paying customers, and instead of showing even a little flexibility or courtesy, she doubled down on rules that make no sense. Her attitude was dismissive, unhelpful, and completely unacceptable. Clearly, management thinks hiring someone like this is fine, which tells you everything about how they value guests. I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone who expects even basic customer service.
They ruined my birthday. I made reservations ahead of the time and specificified in the requirements "Can I get a table by the window if indoors, or by the water if outdoors. Thank you"... my request was completely ignored even though there were tables available... so what is the point having reservations? A patron recommended the restaurant next door.
I wont ever go back to this restaurant. Here is why…. I dont typically write reviews, but after my frustration last night I have to share. I was starving and ordered the lobster roll which I saw online, looked delicious and plenty of lobster. When I was served my lobster roll, I was in complete shock and so were the other two friends who ordered it as well. To pay $45 for a this amount of lobster is absurd. I hope this place understand what a disgrace this is. There service was very slow as well and didnt feel like they appreciate their customers. Absolute disgrace. a hard time giving this a 1 star and the only reason I did is because of
Yesterday evening was my fourth time visiting Ocean and it will most definitely be my last! The three prior times all went perfectly fine. Two bar occasions and now two dinner occasions, but last nights was for my dear friend’s birthday; of which, was her actual, birthday. Naturally, we go for the water views and overall ambience each time and yesterday’s was picture perfect as always, but everything else about the entire experience was an atrocity. From the unbelievably poor service, to the subpar food at best and weakest cocktails I have ever had in my life in a fine-dining establishment; it was an absolute disaster from start to finish. The hostess was welcoming and friendly and our waiter was truly a nice person, but all of the other moving parts just wreaked havoc on our entire experience. I try to go above and beyond to prevent myself from getting a manager involved, but my friend whose birthday it was; was truly upset by all of the above and it tarnished that part of her celebratory mood. And so she wound up addressing it with a manager while I tried to sort it out with our waiter, etc. From the long piece of black hair on our rainbow sushi roll when it was initially brought out, stale/overcooked edamame, overcooked/under seasoned lobster roll (Montauk style), cocktails that didn’t come out until after we had already finished our appetizers, stale/tasteless homemade potato chips (side of lobster roll) and not even having gotten proper cutlery to use to deconstruct our lobster dinner until it took both addressing and complaining about; we decided to actually leave without even having dessert. I brought an entire cake of my own for my friend’s birthday and requested it be brought out with candles and then cut for us, but even that was a nightmare in it and of itself because they misplaced the cake! Despite having requested it back; someone, (NOT OUR WAITER); still decided to put the candles in the cake and attempt to bring it to the table. Thankfully, our waiter stopped it before that took the already negative experience over the edge. Finally, the worst part of the experience was dealing with the manager because he did little to nothing to correct the situation. For example, because we hadn’t had our club sodas refilled once by anyone the entire time we were at the restaurant; he brought us complimentary club soda’s and literally stated that “Those are on us.” CLUB SODAS!? I was in disbelief and needed to leave the restaurant before anything else left me entirely shocked. Upon getting our bill from our waiter; he did profusely apologize and we let him know that it wasn’t 100% his fault and we actually complimented how nice, etc. he was when speaking to the manager about our overall issues. Additionally, they removed $50.00 from our bill as a courtesy without us even having to ask because they obviously knew how poor of an overall experience they had provided us. Mind you, our final bill was still over $400.00+ for two people, but I digress. I don’t know if they’re under new ownership, management, food staff, etc. but the experience has gone down hill since my last dinner outing there. And so, I will, NEVER, be returning.
You definitely pay for the view and not so much for the food. It's a really nice location, especially during the summer. Food was mid, and service was good. Wait staff were nice but the host and the manager were rude and obnoxious. I would've given it a 3-star review simply for the location but the manager made our experience much worse. The whole restaurant was empty for our 5.30 reservation. We were seated in the back corner. When asked if we could sit at a table near the water, he responded by saying those tables are for regular customers -- there is definitely a better way to say it if that was even true to begin with. By the time we left, 80% of those tables were still empty. Dude looked half drunk and I'm really shocked they have a person like that running a restaurant that is supposed to be somewhat upscale. Never going back
I recently visited Ocean with my wife last Saturday, and I’m afraid the experience was far from enjoyable. Although the location boasts a stunning view of the sea, the rest of our visit was a major letdown. To start, the drinks were fantastic well-made and refreshing, which set some initial expectations. Unfortunately, the food was a complete disappointment. It lacked any flavor and was incredibly bland. To make matters worse, the prices were outrageously high for such subpar dishes. We faced an unnecessarily long wait for our food. After waiting 15 minutes just for the menu, we were told to wait even longer for our meals to arrive. When the food finally did arrive, it wasn’t worth the wait, and definitely not worth the price. What followed was even more upsetting. As soon as we finished, the waitstaff was very rude. They quickly came to clear the table and presented us with the bill without any regard for our comfort or satisfaction. When I politely asked the waitress why she was being so abrupt, her response was blunt: she "needed the table now." The restaurant was nearly empty, and no other customers were waiting for seats, so this response felt completely out of place. I then approached the manager to express my concerns, hoping for a resolution. Instead, I was met with an astonishingly rude response from a man wearing a cheap Invicta flashy watch. He claimed that the menu stated we were only entitled to the table for 90 minutes, something we had not been informed of at any point during our visit. This explanation was utterly unprofessional and unnecessary. In all my years dining out, I’ve never been treated this way. It felt as if the managers simply wanted to rush us out of the door, with no care for providing a pleasant dining experience. My wife and I were both taken aback, but I refrained from escalating the situation out of respect for her and to avoid making a scene. Sadly, I will not be returning to this restaurant, and I would not recommend it to anyone looking for a genuinely enjoyable dining experience.
