Small quaint old town diner and Cafe for breakfast and lunch. Was craving a breakfast burrito. 1836 hit the spot. Owner is a pleasure! Food was delicious to say the least. Fresh, homemade and well put together! Happy to have found this little gem of a spot. Will surely make the 20 minute drive to have this food in my belly more often. You can tell they do well by the continuous flow of curbside to go orders being picked up! Alot of homemade treats also! Will have to give them a try. In my opinion, a MUST TRY BREAKFAST/ LUNCH establishment!
What a little hidden Gem in 🔔 Bells....so glad for an outing to Bonham then to Bells. If you're in the area of Hwy 56 & N. Pecan, it's a must stop for breakfast or brunch, lunch. They have these outrageous looking cinnamon rolls & they make the best jalapeno biscuits, which are so yummy, and if you like crunchy bacon, it's the best. I'll be going back soon to try their lunch. I will be updating my review of some additional pictures. I did purchase one of their really cool coffee mugs! They even put identifying 1836 stickers on your to-go boxes and bags.
Wow. So worth the drive. Small location, so check ahead because this place is delicious. Great staff, excellent cook, and man that food was off the chart. I had the Country Bennie, scratch made sausage gravy, crisp bacon, and the country potatoes were perfect. Still thinking about it 6 hours later.
After a morning of wood hauling we stopped by there on a whim. Burgers are stellar. If you like hamburgers you have to try this place. Buns are handmade and are for sure the star of the burger. I went with jalapeño cheddar. I got the double meat and really was almost overwhelmed from the size. Bub got fries and I got the house made chips so we could split and try both. Don’t disregard this hidden gem. Give it a go
This is one of those special eating places you won't forget or regret. The people running this place are so nice. We didn't have to wait long and our server was very attentive. The food was plated beautiful and tasted so good. I ordered the "Highland Park" which is grilled chicken with swiss and house marinade. This place is gourmet with small town charm. There was plenty of room for parking. Inside, and even outside, was decked out with flare. It's definitely worth checking out. I loved everything about it.
It’s a little easy to miss on the side of the road if you’re not careful to look, but once you know it’s there, you’ll never miss it! It’s the best breakfast around the area for the best price as well. Enjoy the bar inside or dine outside on one of the Texas wood burned tables. On any platform, your meal comes picturesque and delicious. The service is absolutely 5 star and very homey! This place will definitely impress and you will not forget. I love it!
First time visiting 1836 Cafe this morning. Got a breakfast platter with chicken fried steak for dine in and ordered Togo the hamburger steak and baked potato. Everything tasted great and the service was excellent and friendly. I'll definitely be back and look forward to trying other menu items.
They're open for dinner service now! This place is worth the drive, come by if you're within 500 miles. The mushroom and swiss burger is incredible!

Honestly, it's just a little hole in the wall place but, you won't find nicer people or a better burger. The staff is so friendly and kind, the food is 10/10 the burger is flavorful and the bun is soft and fluffy, highly recommend the cheddar jalapeno bun. AND I CANT RECOMMEND THE CINNAMON ROLLS ENOUGH!
This little cafe offers some delicious food! We have only ever stopped for breakfast but if breakfast is an indication, I’m sure all their other offerings are just as tasty. The biscuits are flaky and buttery and perfect! The sweet rolls are divine! We had a peanut butter cookie today that was super rich but delicious! Friendly staff and delicious food well worth the trip to Bells
Had the mother clucker on a jalapeño cheddar bun and I have to say it was INCREDIBLE 🔥the fries were seasoned so well and even the house made ranch was tasty! The food portions are huge! At some point we were realized we were eating just because the food was THAT GOOD (we were definitely overstuffed by that point) LOL 🐷🐷
We just went today for the first time and it was great. Food was awesome, service was great made me and my boyfriend feel like we were at his mom place eating food with the atmosphere too that how it made us feel. We will definitely be going back.
Saw this on tiktok and had to give it a try. Burgers were incredible! Got a pecan cinnamon roll to go. Omg it was soooo good!! We will definitely be back to try breakfast next time!!
This may be the best place to get breakfast this side of Dallas. Incredible portion sizes, owners are super friendly, and the best sausage gravy I have EVER had anywhere. Everything is made fresh (biscuits, chicken, gravy, etc.) so be prepared to wait a little bit... But the wait is WELL worth it. Don't be fooled by it's small exterior, this is one place you don't want to miss.
All the food is awesome. You will have to come back several times to try everything. We love the burgers, bennies(Country and Chicken), breakfast sausage at its best.
I've driven by a few times and decided to stop by for breakfast today. I ordered the Country Bennie and swapped the regular biscuit for their jalapeno biscuit. My son got the waffles. We also got a pecan roll to go. Everything was delicious. We will be back for sure!

Best hamburger I have eaten in as long as I can remember! The bun was amazing, the burger was cooked to order and was dressed perfectly. You will not be disappointed! Previously reviewed this restaurant but didn’t have the burger - I would go back there for the burger over and over again!!!!!!
Oh...my...gosh!!!! So very delicious!! My husband and I had the spinach salad with grilled chicken and the flavors of the pecans, goat cheese, strawberries, spinach, chicken and balsamic were a flavor explosion delight! Only thing better was the coconut 🥥pie 🥧which wasn't too sweet... it was jussssst right! This place is a MUST STOP🛑 on your way to anywhere! Thank y'all, Nicki and Joseph! We will be back!

Food is decent. You have to ask for a cup and ice when you order a drink which I thought was odd. Had a hair in my breakfast. I understand that happens but its still gross. The guy with the beard cooking should wear a net 💡 You will leave there smelling like the grill. The vent hood/exhaust doesn't capture all the smoke and its very smokey in the restaurant. It was rather warm in there as well. Its the best option in the area without having to go to sherman, Denison, or Bonham.
Cool little diner with great food and service. Seating area indoors is small but there isn’t much of a wait ever, picnic tables on the patio for outdoor seating. They have breakfast and lunch selections, the chicken fried steak is amazing and the homemade biscuits and gravy is oh so satisfying! Homemade cinnamon rolls and pies are a bonus.

My husband ordered eggs, bacon, fried potatoes, with biscuits and gravey. Potatoes where over cooked. Gravey was luck warm and bacon was not good. I had pancakes and sausage. When I lifted my pancakes to butter them. There where lots of blacks flakes on my plate. Telling me that the grill was not cleaned. And the black stuff was on my sausage patties as well. And! We had to pay one dollor for each one of our glass of water with ice. To go along with the coffee that we had ordered. I have never had to pay for a glass of ice water at any restaurant ever! Will never go back there. It is a sad thing too. Because we ate there once before and really liked it.
Until they add onto this place, I cannot recommend it. we showed up and were told we could not stay inside to wait even though it’s a cold and windy morning. It’s a very small building and they told us it would be a 10 to 15 minute wait and they would come get us if we wanted to wait in our car. they came and got somebody else out and didn’t come and get us.. I’ll just say we were not impressed. We went somewhere else.
