We stopped in on a Thursday night just passing through. We enjoyed their Quesadilla special. They were great. I had the chicken pesto and my Dat had the Buffalo chicken. We highly recommend this place. We also had the crab dip appetizer which was yummy too! The atmosphere is just a home town bar with warm friendly people in it. The ladies room was clean and well kept too
Christy was fantastic from our first meeting in the parking lot (during which I had no idea she was the owner) to seating us in an open gondola. The food, wait staff and experience was great! Thank you for the hospitality during our first trip to Lake Chautauqua!
Great meal at Guppy's. Stuffed Haddock special, 2 Stromboli's, Shrimp Scampi and we tried their new chorizo dip ... all were outstanding. And a short walk from Maple Springs!!
Just happened to be riding by when I was hungry. What a great place...very nice menu with a wide variety of choices. My lasagna was delicious...I will probably order it again when I go back. The service really couldn't be any better...quick, friendly and attentive.
Here from out of town for a snow trip, the food and service was absolute phenomenal, even though they were packed they killed it. Back to the food, we got the hawg wings. Best dang thing I've ever had in my life. Literally fall off the bone perfect. This will be our new go to spot when we're in for the winter.
This was my first time eating at Guppy's. What a great place to have dinner. I ordered the Fish dinner. We got there early so we didn't have to wait. This restaurant gets very busy. I highly recommend taking the first available table. Remember you are going for a great dinner. The Restaurant staff is very friendly and professional. The menu is very top notch plus the prices are very reasonable. My Nephew James had fish tacos and everything was made fresh. I would highly recommend this restaurant. Very family oriented. If you want an alcoholic beverage that is available.
This place has an awesome atmosphere. They allow dogs. The food was phenomenal. Absolute must visit. Then revisit.😁 I am a pizza snob, their pizza was the best I have had in years!!!
Good food and great atmosphere! We sat in a gondola, it was quiet, had a bluetooth speaker and a heater.
Innovative menu with a variety of foods. Very good salads and cocktails. The corn cake is to die for.
Great experience. Loved our waiter Dillon.
We had an amazing time and the service was great! Very kind staff and the food was delicious.
Ordered take out on Sunday. Called order in as we were leaving Holiday Valley. Order was ready and amazingly delicious. Had 2 orders of the chicken pecan cranberry salad. One with alterations. Both prepared perfect. Staff was so accommodating with our travel and very friendly. We are from out of town but we Love eating here.
We cannot say enough good things about Guppy’s!! Came here after a soggy walk in the park with the dogs, we were seated on the pavilion and our dogs were greeted and given water bowls immediately! The waitress, Natalie, was fabulous- quick, attentive, had suggestions when we needed them, and was just so happy and fun to talk with! Everyone was so kind and attentive. Bathroom was clean and well stocked. Now for the FOOD! we had the mussels, (garlic butter goodness!!) butterflied shrimp, bbq pork Mac’n’cheese, and the chicken Cajun pasta. All of them were so good! Huge portions, comfort food at its finest that leaves you satisfied and so happy :) a great variety in the menu, food and beverages alike. I also had a blueberry mule that was wonderful- will absolutely make a point to come back if we are ever in the area again! Thanks to the whole team for making our dinner a special one!
We descovered Guppies by some what of an accident several years ago. We have returned several times since! It is by far one of our favorite places to eat when we are traveling in that area. It's well worth the hour drive from our home location. The food is ALWAYS amazing, and the staff is always super nice. On our most recent visit, we met up with a couple of friends for dinner. Our one friend left her purse behind as we were leaving, and our waitress litterally RAN our to the parking lot to get it back to her before we left. Our friends then ended up getting a flat tire on thier brand new truck pulling out of the parking lot, and the staff offered to help change it out. The owner of the place is super personalable, and always made sure to talk to us anytime he came with in our vacinity. The place is ALWAYS packed every time we go there. Highly recommended!
Funky pub that gets better every year! Guppy's has the best fried fish this side of Ireland! Huge pieces of haddock, but you can get a half portion. They've added a fleet of used gondolas from a ski resort in the parking lot as a safe way to dine, and it extends their season into the winter. Great burgers, too, but we go for the fish!
As a kid who would come up every summer, I made sure to highlight Guppy's as an absolute must go to when planning my trip to return to area after a decade away. We were immediately welcomed by Christy who went above and beyond to make our night an amazing expierence! We had a blast being seated in the heated gondola and Christy even took our picture to remember the moment. Our server Angi was such a delight and we loved her! The food was so astonishing, the drinks are fun and delicious, and the atmosphere is very home grown and makes you feel so welcomed! We'll be back to visit many more times to come!
We stopped here for dinner during our eclipse road trip and we were very impressed! Everyone was so nice and they gave us glasses. Their eclipse drinks were great also. Their fish fry though was one of the best I’ve had! Crab dip was also very good! They also gave my husband his meal for free because he is military which is so sweet!
It was our first time there, it was definitely a great suggestion from my hubby's co-worker! We ate outside in a gondola, the owners were so friendly our server was as well, and she was great!! Drinks were amazing! We had the seasonal ones! Delicious!! Food was just as amazing! We both would highly recommend!!
This place is a hidden gem 💎. Great food, excellent staff and service. Been a patron of Guppy’s for many years, enjoy the atmosphere and love the Shrimp Scampi.
I used to come here all the time when I was a younger kid in the summer when we went to the lake house. (30 years ago) Decided to take a drive out randomly tonight and we are so glad we did. The owner is one of a kind. Took care of us from the outside waiting area when there were no tables and an hour wait. She got us apps and water and she was absolutely fantastic. We didn’t get to stay for dinner since the baby was getting fussy but we were absolutely thrilled with the service we received while we were there. Short staffed and they still were excellent to us! Highly recommending this place!
We had a bit of a long wait for our food but it was worth it! I had the fish tacos (excellent!) and my wife had the spinach and chicken quesadilla (also excellent!). Best part of the experience was the novelty of eating in a gondola.
My husband and I were staying nearby and needed somewhere to eat dinner. We happen to come across Guppy's and couldn't have had a better experience. Even in the middle of a storm, the staff did an excellent job checking on us in the gondola. The food and drinks were all amazing (loved the fish tacos & Guppy bowl!) and we were so impressed by the overall atmosphere! We can't wait to come back when we are in the area!
My husband and I took a little day trip and just happened to find this unique spot with a Google search for nearby restaurants. I am SO glad we did! I was impressed by the wide variety of the menu, both food and drinks! I ordered a Cosmo that was made just right. They had some fall drinks I was curious about as well. We got the crab dip to start and it was fantastic! Large, crispy, homemade pita chips accompanied it. He got the fish fry and loved it. Huge portions. I got the ‘pig wings’ that were perfectly braised and definitely fell right off the bone. I ordered a side of the sweet potato fries which was gigantic! My only regret is that I didn’t have enough room for desert. We will definitely make it a point to stop in again!
We stopped in for drinks & apps last night & had the most amazing experience! Thank you SO much Christy for your incredible knowledge and creativity of your vast selection of drinks and appetizers! You & Mary were so very welcoming to our group and we cannot wait to return!
Food was delicious the multiple times we went there. Service is not always the quickest but they're always kind and courteous and really it was likely on us for coming in so late. The prices have gone up since we went here a couple years ago but that is to be expected as most restaurants have done the same. Dinner in a Gondola Ski Lift is pretty unique. This place is by far my favorite restaurant whenever I come in town and I look forward to coming back and have no hesitations. Pizza and Stromboli was amazing and will be ordering again.
We came here for my wife's birthday recently. When we arrived, there was some confusion about seating. Make aure to check in with the host out front and let them know where you want to sit so they can put you on the waiting list. Once everything was cleared up and we were seated, it was a really great experience. The server was very polite and attentive. The food was delicious and great portion sizes. Overall we had a good experience. A special thanks to the owner who made sverything special for my wife and got us seated when she found out there was some confusion. We will be back in the winter to experience the heated ski lift tables.
Dog-friendly on covered patios. They brought out water in a to-go container for our dog even though we didn't ask for it. Hospitality and service was a 10! Our server was excellent, but the hostess was impressive. It was a super-busy Sunday evening, but employees were constantly checking in and I felt bad that we didn't need anything else. Ordered the mussels. They are great and you get a lot. The corn bread was amazing! Plenty of parking in back. Highly recommend and we will definitely go back.
My husband had the best beer battered fish fry and I had the :"To die for" Crispy Asian Wrap. All the staff were friendly and efficient. Ou can tell they're treated well. The owner had a smile on her face throughout the evening and sne knows what people want...good food, plenty of it and at an affordable price. The owner is amazing! Atmosphere is home town. We WILL be back!
Absolutely our favorite spot to stop on our way to salmon fish on lake Ontario. We have gotten to know the owners and they never disappoint, they treat us like family and food is off the charts good. Highly recommend giving Guppys a try. See you guys in July, can't wait !!!
Great little mom & pop spot to eat at. Open Tues-Saturday. Small area to eat inside along w/ a small bar. Quite a few spots to eat outside though. Great food, we had a fish fry & shrimp scampi. Both meals were amazing. Only complaint is no tv's w/ any sports on. Our server was really good also
Went here on recommendation from Chautauqua Lake KOA. Had the weekend special. Crispy chicken Alfredo. Hand breaded chicken breast, penne pasta, spinach, sun dried tomatoes. It tasted wonderful. I think the pasta and sauced sat under a heat lamp while the chicken cooked because the sauce was absorbed into the pasta or they were not generous with the Alfredo sauce. Like I said it tasted wonderful, I just like more sauce. I had bread pudding for dessert. It was listed as seasonal and house made. It was some of the best bread pudding I have ever had. It was so flavorful. Not soggy. With crispy edges. The waitress shared a new dessert special that they were tasting, flan. Oooh! So good. I will be in the area for the next 3 months, I hope it will be placed on the menu soon.
Started with some of the best mussels I've ever had. Absolutely delicious! Then, ordered the Buffalo Chicken Salad because I had been craving it for several weeks and per usual it didn't disappoint. Loved the texture, flavor, and the entire combination. The Western NY'er in me was very happy. Literally the best salad I've ever had! Our server/bartender Lauren was awesome and super attentive despite having a full house! Can't wait to go back!
Always something different to choose from. Food is fresh and delicious. Always happy with what I order, tasty! Although a rare occurrence, the shrimp on my rice bowl was cold when served this past visit, while the rest of the meal was still warm enough. Love Guppy's.
This was our second trip to Guppy's, and as great as we remembered. Our hostess Amber was very friendly and attentive. Fantastic food and service. Get a gondola for dining,..especially if you have kids. LOVE GUPPY'S, best restaurant on Chautauqua Lake.
My wife and I went out for Valentines dinner which also is our sons birthday. We had reservations for the 3 of us and when we arrived at our time we were greeted and shown to our table. Our server Amber was incredible, she went out of her way to not only to make our evening wonderful but also the birthday boys. Her knowledge of the menu lead to us to make menu choices that were out of our comfort zone but turned out to be absolutely incredible. We truly loved our experience and will definitely request to be in Amber's section every time we go.
Food was delicious! Service was friendly and fun. Our pup RUBY was treated like a princess 👸 💖. Wonderful experience- highly recommend having dinner and a cocktail here.
We had to wait, but the wait was WORTH IT! A fun and welcoming atmosphere was paired with a delicious meal that was brought to us by a kind and friendly waitress who made sure that every detail of our order was correct. I ordered the fish tacos with extra pico de gallo, which was paired with savory corn “cake” (fluffy, warm corn bread) and refried beans. A+ 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Love how unique this place is. We enjoyed sitting inside a ski gondola while listening to music on the blue tooth speaker provided. The server's timing was spot on and the food was great. We enjoyed the bread board and crab dip. I sampled the pulled pork macaroni and cheese (a special) and part of a large Stromboli. The other Italian food passing by looked excellent as well. I will have to return.
I'm still on my first few bites of the haddock dinner. OH!!!!!! MY!!!! MY!!!! GOODNESS!!!! ABSOLUTELY THE BEST!!!! We came up from central Ohio for, I won't mention wine and maple syrup... And I wanted a good fish dinner.... WE FOUND IT AT GUPPY'S. The chips and slaw are great also!!!
Guppy’s is our “go-to restaurant.” When someone visits from out of town, we take them to Guppy’s. When I want a Friday fish fry, Guppy’s has the best. Look out for weekday specials! Steamed mussels in butter and garlic for two with a side of fries is awesome. My wife always finds delicious gluten free selections and the chefs are always accommodating. Did I mention the great drinks and beer selection? Gondola seating is fun (a couple of times) and there is patio seating as well as indoors for when the snowmobiles are in use - lol. Highly recommended!
Great spot to dine along Chautauqua lake. Great drink options and a very good selection of foods to choose
First time at Guppy’s with my husband and son and we had the most fun experience in the gondola and the service was excellent and food was outstanding. We will definitely be back. Denise, our waitress was wonderful!!!
Guppy’s in Maple Springs understood the Valentine’s dinner assignment at an elite level. Private ski gondolas for dinner? Ridiculously charming and cozy! But the real headline was the staff. Warm, friendly, and working insanely hard behind the scenes like hospitality pros. They were absolutely packed and handled it all with grace and professionalism. A+ service, great energy, and a night that felt genuinely special that our group will talk about for years. Guppy’s, you nailed it. You continue to be our absolute favorite home away from home! 🩶🩶🩶
Guppy’s stands out for both its food and service. The meals are fresh, tasty, and consistently well prepared. The staff goes above and beyond to make sure you’re taken care of. It’s a place you can count on for a great dining experience every time.
We had the sweetest, most unexpected date night at Guppy’s this weekend. We were actually driving to another restaurant in Bemius Point when we spotted the gondolas and immediately turned around — and I’m so glad we did. They just had a huge rush, so we sat at the bar and waited not long to be seated. The two bartenders were absolute gems and made our wait so enjoyable with great conversation and even better cocktails. Once we were seated in our heated gondola, we saw the best view of a beautiful sunset and some of the best food we’ve had — the crab dip is an absolute must! What truly stood out was the service. The staff was warm, welcoming, real and fun! You can tell they genuinely care about giving guests a great experience. We will definitely be back and highly recommend! Shout of to Deniese! You were great!
We walked in with a table of 5 on a Saturday night and were instantly greeted and offered a seat in the heated gondola. We were well informed on the food and drink specials too. They had a huge selection of draft beers and special cocktails, kids drinks could add Boba which was a big hit! Our meals were delicious, build your own Stromboli was a table favorite. The chicken parm was delicious and everything tasted so fresh.and delicious. Disappointed that we were in a time crunch and couldn’t try any desserts from the diverse menu, we will absolutely be back! This place is a hidden gem!!
Best experienced that my family has had at a restaurant in a long time. The food and service were excellent, and we had a blast in the gondola. The pork shanks special was amazing
We are on vacation and are always on the lookout for restaurants that have outdoor seating, as we travel with our dog. Everything was fantastic from our server to the food. I had the four cheese Mac and cheese and my husband had a meatball stromboli. The portions are very generous. The best part was eating in a gondola. It was very cool and very comfortable. Our gondola even had a wifi speaker so we could listen to our own music. Dixie gives told me to give them four paws up!
I recommend this uniquely artistic and creatively designed establishment. Tyler, our waiter, was very attentive, but truly an intellectual when sharing local historical information. The drink & food menu was diversely expansive featuring a delectable array of gourmet selections. Our group went with ordering an appetizer of artichoke cheese dip, which was dangerously delicious, followed by the main course featuring “white chicken & spinach pizza”, the to good to describe broiled Haddock, and savory chicken parmesan with homemade marinara sauce spaghetti. The entire experience was rewarding and worth the drive. It’s definitely an establishment that we will look forward to returning to again, and I am looking forward to trying the other selections on the menu. I also noticed that this Restraurant caters to canine companions which is also a positive.
I love going to Guppy’s. The extensive food and drinks menu will appeal to any taste. The fun atmosphere and friendly service make me feel like I’m on a mini- vacation, and we all need that. Take a short ride to Bemus Point and visit your soon-to-be favorite “vacation spot.”
This restaurant was a recommendation from Bring Fido and it did not disappoint! From the moment we were seated we were treated with nothing but excellent service that was warm and inviting. I brought my doodle Bianca and she was treated like royalty down to a pink gingham bandana and her own container of water and menu! The food was delicious and the outdoor dining atmosphere was beautiful. Just visiting for a summer getaway and already planning for next time. Can't say enough nice things about all the staff that we interacted with. Wonderful experience all around!
We had an amazing time, delicious meals and awesome cocktails at Guppy’s! We had to go back 3 times for our week and a half visit. The Blueberry Bread Pudding to is die for! Christy and her husband the owners have done amazing things for the place. She was always out on the floor and the customer service was great! Great weekly special!!
I was very impressed with our first experience at this restaurant. My family and I were passing through and it was later in the evening. We decided that we would give Guppy's a try and see how things went with it being close to closing time to eat outdoors. All the staff was very welcoming and the food we ordered was absolutely delicious. The portions are definitely worth the money. Of course, I had to get a Guppy bowl to take home with me ☺️
The place was amazing we ate in a gondola, the service was fantastic as well as the food. The staff were absolutely amazing. We had a wonderful experience. The mussels for a starter and for me it was the 1st time having mussels and they were absolutely delicious. Then the steak topped with mushrooms and onions and to top it off the churros with ice cream was fantastic.
What an absolute gem of a place! I was searching for a new place to eat that I never been to and this place caught my eye. When you arrive at this tucked in location, you're greated with a big smile and friendly staff. Intrigued by the ski gondola, we took a table in on of these. What a fun experience! It's private and unique. Decorated with cool stickers, blinky lights and your own Bluetooth speaker, it was so unique and we absolutely loved the experience. I would say it would fit 4 adults comfortably. They are a bit tight to get in and out but not too bad. Our drinks where great (with bobas!) And the food was absolutely fantastic. Besides the gondolas, there were tables for larger groups. It was a fun date night and we will be returning. Kudos to the owners for being a little unique and maintaining a high level of quality. We will be back.
It was good. A little on the expensive side - check the menu online - but it's a resort town so that's to be expected. They were busy and we waited about 40 minutes for a table, and then the kitchen was a little slow, but it was the heart of the dinner rush in the middle of summer and again in a resort town, so that's to be expected. Good service, food was good, lots of interesting choices. Fun decor.
Been going to this place for years and always loved it as a great local "go-to". However, just left after a decent meal and noticed the menu has been whittled down and prices increased. Fine, portions remained significant and quality really hasn't suffered. But what really pissed me off this time was they now are charging a $3 plate splitting fee! Which is bad enough, but they don't even actually split the entree, they just bring an extra plate. Really!? I need to rethink this place....
First time trying while in town. The maple bacon and buffalo brussel’s were awesome! The drinks were really good too. Fish tacos were good and big. Only complaints are $20+ burgers and was not a fan of the wings (tough, not crispy, & lacked flavor/sauce) But we will be back!
My wife and I went there for Valentine's Day. And sat in one of the gondolas that they have out front. There is very little parking out front other than Outback down the hill. There is a set of stairs that take you around to the back for you to park. It has been snowing and it was a lot of ice so I was trying to be careful but no one has thrown any salt back there and slipped and fell right on my back and hit my head. Thankfully I'm okay but they need someone to take care of the back end of the store so nobody else gets hurt. The food was delicious the service was slow but it was Valentine's Day and they were slammed so it's understandable. I would recommend going to this restaurant the food again was good and the service what's good considering what was going on
Got take out here and while the wait was pretty long it was actually worth it. They were crazy busy and the wait staff was still pleasant and the food was cooked correctly. I got the fried haddock dinner with fries and coleslaw. The fries are almost like a potato skin and we're salted perfectly. The coleslaw was creamy and good as well. The haddock itself was delicious however my one complaint was the beer batter was a little thick for my taste and it got very soggy. However, the soggy part wasn't their fault that just happens with take out containers sometimes. I got the small portion of haddock which was still quite a good size. Overall I'd definitely eat here again!
The atmosphere was pretty cool and energetic. The server was very friendly and professional. The food was sadly just ok at best. We got our appetizers and literally 3 minutes later our meal came out. It's frustrating when this happens but the taste of the food did not make things any better. Maybe the kitchen had an off night.
Usually great but not today. Ordered street taco special three tacos flat on a plate no lime or tortilla chips looked like something I made after a night of drinking. The chicken in the salad was Sysco with the brown burnt marks on it. not very tasty reast of the salad was great including the dressing. What shocked me most was the bill offering suggested tip starting at 25%, 30%, 35% wow guilt tipping at it finest.
Love going here when we visit Chq for the summer. The gondolas for the 6 year old is great, but the prices are actually quite out of line. My partner and I split the $22 burger, but were told if we split it, it was an extra $3. Here we assumed it would be cut in two on two different plates with our own fries, but nope, one plate for the 15 French fries and one burger, and one empty plate stacked underneath it. Really? $3 to just wash an extra plate? I understand that when it's just two people at the table, but we were 5 - and included two drinks and a dessert. Separately, two Mondays ago we went for the Mussels, and they were quite bad... I don't really understand why we keep going, except the gondola is great for our 6 yr old, and the churros. Get the churros. Avoid the mediocrity of everything else.
Food was good. Great portions. Getting food after placing order was a considerable wait. Our server Sierra was very good.
Great tasting food, location, and a clever use of gondolas for private booths, but the pricing is a bit extreme and questionable on certain food. If you have the money, I recommend it, but if you are a bit more on a budget and with a bigger group I might give it a pause. The waiter was good and would frequently show up every 5-10 minutes to make sure everything was alright on our end, and the food was actually served fairly quickly compared to other places Ive been to, so the waiting time wasn't unreasonable from what I experienced. The gondola booths that they've added are a neat device to get past covid regulations from back in the day and it definitely adds to the atmosphere and feeling of the location. If they could add something, maybe having rgb lights for mood would be cool so you could adjust the lighting in your booth? Either way, they were neat. The downside of Guppy's was that the pricing felt a bit unreasonable. Their iconic meal was $30, which is a pretty steep price for the meal. We also bought their "churros and ice cream" dessert which was $12 and I swear it was literally half a scoop of ice cream with one churro split into 4 pieces. Now, it was absolutely delicious and great tasting, but it felt like borderline robbery. I can buy 2-3 gallons of ice cream for $12, so there is no reason ice cream and churros should have half a scoop of ice cream in it. I would suggest making it 2-3 scoops or something like that, as that shouldn't really increase the cost of making the dish by that much since the most expensive part of it is the fried churro. Again, just want to reiterate that the food tasted great. Compliments to the chef/chefs as the fried haddock was really good, it's just that the pricing feels a bit steep for me (and I know that is due to forces outside of the restaurants' control). Lastly, and this isn't a huge issue but constructive criticism, I think it would probably be wise for the menus to be updated visually. The menu layout and design makes it hard to see the pictures on the menu and I think is a disservice to the food that is being sold. Just change the font size, take some new pictures and make them bigger. Either way, I had a great meal. If you have the money, I would definitely recommend this location.
Came here for Father’s Day, and at first glance it was very busy but they had a beautiful outside bar and large tent for people to sit under and wait for their table. Although it was a holiday, it was definitely a really long wait to be seated, then to order, and lastly to wait for the food. I appreciate the owners of the business trying to be transparent about inflation and rising prices where they have this giant yellow sign on every page of the menu about rising costs. For a bar/tavern kind of vibe restaurant (since the dining area is surrounded on both sides by a bar), the prices were still more than I expected especially given the taste of the food. However, I thought the food would match it but unfortunately I had the really long named menu item “Roasted Red Pepper & Tomato Pesto with Chicken”. There was no red nor tomato tasted in this dish or pepper, and I was told that its a homemade sauce which really surprised me. I’ve actually had this sort of sauce in a different style of cooking and I definitely don’t think it should go into this kind of dish and it was really heavy/oily when the “sauce” was separated from the penne home noodles. The sea crab dip did cost the same as an entrée but they definitely nailed it with the large-sized, crispy and soft chips. The service and waitresses were phenomenal and even asked about switching out the dish I had for something else. This would’ve been a better experience if I had chosen a different dish in the beginning.
Nice people, really long wait upwards of 30 mins, food was mid. Didn't hate it but would not return.
Sadly the food was not good tonight. We had the fish and chips and as soon as the food arrived we could tell the food was fried in old oil. All the fried food tasted like burnt oil. We also had the mussels which were overcooked. I used to enjoy coming here when I was in the area, hope this was just a bad night.
UPDATE: Guppy's Restaurant & Tavern owners Doug & Christy reached out and apologized for the poor experience my husband and I had on March 12. They sent us a gift card as well. Hopefully we’ll be able to get back to NY soon! I’ve been going to Guppy's Restaurant & Tavern since I was a kid. Every summer my family would rent a cabin in Chautauqua, NY and inevitably we’d end up at Guppy’s for dinner one night. I’ve passed this tradition down to my sons, who have enjoyed their fair share of Guppy’s Stromboli. So imagine my disappointment when my husband and I visited this past Saturday (March 12) for lunch only to be seated and ignored for 20 minutes. We watched two tables arrive AFTER us and be SERVED. No waitress ever looked our way. We didn’t even get glasses of water. No the restaurant wasn’t swamped. We arrived shortly after they opened that afternoon. We walked out and took our business elsewhere. Disappointed & heartbroken. Guppy’s used to be our “go to” when we were in town. I’ll think twice next time.
Good food. Wonderful woman at the front door. Very personable. Though we were told a short wait and waited over 45 minutes for a table. Very rude and condescending owner or manager. Not sure what he was but he made us feel extremely unwelcome and uncomfortable. Service was nice but incredibly slow.
One of the worst dining experiences. Food was terribly salty with tiny portions. They had the nerve to charge us a sharing fee even though we all ordered our own entrees (the waitress said ‘I heard the word share’). I spoke with the owner who had a smirk on his face when I explained our concerns and refused to make any concessions. Stay as far away from this nightmare as possible.
Waited 2 hours for food. When we inquired about our food, mgr/owner went berserk, getting loud and telling us to leave if we didn't like the wait. We've been coming every summer for 7 years, but never again. Absolutely classless behavior. Better food options around anyway. All negative reviews are met with excuses (or lies). The time to act professionally is when the customer is in your business, not just when poor service is made public.
Was told no reservation only in person on the phone. Arrived then would not even take our name and was rude and not even acknowledged
I went to Guppys last night for dinner with family. We expected it to be busy, but we left after several things happened. First, the hostess told us and others that it would be about an hour. An hour and a half passed and we were still waiting when a group that came in after us was seated before we were. We saw empty tables in the dining area while we waited outside. There were several groups complaining as they left about how bad the set up inside was. We know it was a busy weekend and the wait staff was running hard, but they had the bartender waiting on tables while trying to pour drinks. It took half an hour just to get 3 beers and the hostess was trying to help but didn't seem to do a very good job of it Overall, the impression we got was of a very inefficient and chaotic business who catered to customers they knew versus a first come first serve policy and we left. We ended up at the wonderful Mexican restaurant in Mayville and ate within an hour even though they were just as busy as Guppys.
Heard many conversations over the years about this place going downhill and can confirm those conversations. Been some time since I’ve been to Guppy’s, but tonight’s order was extremely disappointing. Ordered a medium pizza, received a small pizza in a medium sized box, cut up into eight slices to look like a medium pizza, evidenced in the picture. $5.00 covered that piece of cornbread. This place has one of the best locations in an isolated area of Chautauqua lake, but completely takes advantage of it like you’re at a NFL or NHL game. My family is done with this place. Guppy’s management embarrasses itself thinking we’re that dumb to be a repeat customer. Get it together or close your doors. I understand the idea behind inflation and the value of the dollar decreasing, but that doesn’t justify taking advantage of your customers.
