Just tried The Cuban Around the Corner in Bergenfield, NJ. The food was authentic and reasonably priced. The atmosphere was charming and the people tending to us were very professional and welcoming. I highly recommend it. They have a band playing on either Friday or Saturday from 7-9pm.
I recently celebrated my mother's birthday, I found everything I expected , The food was amazing and the service was great. I highly recommend this place. It had a beautiful environment just to have a great time with family and friends.
Great service over all, celebrated my Daughter’s fifteen birthday here. It was so well organized and the food was outstanding. My guess are still talking about it. The decorations and table layouts were very elegantly decorated. The Staff was wonderful very tentative with every request. I definitely will come back and will recommend to others. Thank you to the Staff and owners.
We just had dinner at this restaurant and everything was delicious! The lechón and chicken tasted so home made and the churros were one of the best churros I have had in my entire life. The server who I think was the owner was so nice and even gave me a treat before I left.cant wait to come back!
My wife and I were searching for a place to provide Cocktail Hour food for our wedding and we found this place. We are so glad we did! From the first night we sampled the food, we were blown away. This place has excellent service and excellent flavor. The owner and staff were very friendly and very welcoming. They were also very understanding and helpful throughout our process of selecting food items. They even provided delivery to our wedding venue. On the day of our wedding, all everyone could talk about was how delicious the Cocktail Hour food was. By the time my wife and I were done with photos, there was almost no food left for us. The croquetas were a huge hit (we didn't get to have any that day because they were gone) as well as the empanadas. We highly recommend this restaurant both for dining in and for their catering services.
My first time was wonderful. Food was delicious, healthy portions, service was amazing. Anicipated my every need, didn’t have to ask it was flawless. The environment, decor is beautiful, clean and cozy. I will be returning for sure. Our server Andy was gracious and warm.
We took our daughter there for her birthday and it was our first time there. As you enter, you are greeted in a welcoming manner. We asked to bring a cake, balloons and wine to celebrate and Audrey was very accommodating. The food was well portioned, delicious, and reasonably priced. The decorations are lovely and the staff as well. We wish them a lot of luck and definitely recommend, we will be coming back.
If you like great authentic Cuban cuisine this is most definitely the place to check out. The owners Ms. Audrey and her husband are such wonderful people and they make you feel so welcomed. The food is fairly priced and the quantity that you receive is more than adequate. We passed by this Sunday and left there wanting to return soon. Thank you guys for such a wonderful meal and being such gracious hosts. Anyone in the area needs to stop by and grab a bite. Their Cuban sandwiches are grade A.
I travel frequently to New York and I go to New Jersey at least once during my trip to eat their delicious food. The food and the service are amazing. Andy is a really nice, caring and very professional server. I would definitely recommend this place if you are around the area.
My husband searched for a Cuban restaurant to take me and our girls for my birthday. The Cuban Around the Corner was absolutely fantastic!! Beautiful atmosphere and decor, delicious, AUTHENTIC Cuban food, great live music, top-notch service from this family owned business. We will definitely be back!! Thank you Audrey and Andy for a great birthday dinner!!
The restaurant has a beautiful layout and a wonderful environment! We were greeted by the waiter with a smile and seated quickly. We ordered the pernil con arroz moro con maduros and the food was amazing! 10/10 Definitely coming back for sure!
My family and I dined at Cuban around the Corner Thursday after weeks of passing it many times and commenting how cute it was from the outside. It did not disappoint. The decor in the restaurant was beautifully done, the service was above and beyond and the food was really really good. We will be back!
The best papa rellena I’ve ever had. The service was great and friendly. I ordered the vaca frita and it was delicious. I’d definitely go back
The bridesmaids hosted a romantic, book-themed Bridal Shower here. From the moment we walked in, we were enchanted by the whimsical and thoughtful decor, every detail perfectly captured the literary theme, creating an atmosphere straight out of a storybook. The owner, Audrey, and staff went above and beyond to make the celebration special. Their creativity and attention to detail were evident in every corner, from the beautifully arranged tables to the clever book-inspired touches throughout the space. It felt both magical and deeply personal. The food was delicious! We had a wonderfully varied Brunch menu and each dish was bursting with authentic Cuban flavors. A special shout out to their classic Cuban sandwich! The menu catered perfectly to our group, and the presentation was just as delightful as the taste. If you’re looking for a venue that combines outstanding cuisine with imaginative ambiance and exceptional service, this is the place. The Bridal Shower was romantic, memorable, and uniquely fitting for the Bride-to-be thanks to Cuban Around the Corner!
First time dining and it did not disappoint! Super authentic, delicious Cuban food! The tres leche was perfection! The server was super friendly as well. We felt very welcomed as soon as we walked in! After dinner, we chatted with the owner for a few and she was the sweetest! Can’t wait to go back 🇨🇺❤️
I drive a lot for work and I’m constantly looking for nice wam plate of food! Usually I order to go! When I walked in the place is so cute that I thought it might be allowed to order and go! I was greeted nicely and they had no issues with my request! I paid around what I pay at other places for ox tails. I asked for it to be with Moro. My food came out with Moro on the side, beans, and white rice and the ox tails! But also, added plantain chips, and two cookies! I thought that was a great little gift! I’ll be back to dine here again
This place really surprised me! Although we were the only customers in the restaurant when we got there, the service was excellent! Andy really made us feel very welcomed. The food was quite delicious I have to say, but their flan is in a category on its own! Their ambiance was elegant and a lot of white with beautiful lamps. They even have a large stage where they have live music on weekends. The bathrooms need updating but that was really my only con. Everything else was superb! Oh yeah, ample parking lot on premises.
Delicious Cuban food, family owned and operated, with a homey atmosphere and elegantly decorated. Ordered the mini-Cuban Sandwich appetizer is the best. Tacos were filling. Yucca fries were 💯. Lamb was great! Highly recommend if you are in the area
Fantastic cozy and pleasant Cuban BYOB restaurant. Hospitable hosts, delicious dishes, beautiful presentation, wonderful dessert. The ambience is very welcoming and charming. I love the art decor and amazing paintings. I recommend to everyone. I would definitely come back here again.
HIDDEN GEM ALERT! Their croquetas we so delicious and creamy. And I have to say, they have one of the best cuban sandwiches i’ve ever had!!
Lovely restaurant.. great decor. The Cuban sandwiches were very good despite them not being super traditional. We also had the tostones rellenos with picadillo and they We’re fresh and tasty! The staff was pleasant and the food was served in a timely manner. One recommendation would be to lower the lights because it was uncomfortably too bright with every single high hat light and wall sconces and chandeliers on. Less is better and it would nicer! The other recommendation I have would is to use cloth napkins instead of paper especially on weekends and for dinner to elevate the dining experience . I know it is a BYOB which I appreciate very much .. but Maybe you can ask the town if sangria is allowed with the minimally allowed alcohol allowed ( other places do this) to offer that as a delicious drink. Overall I’d return and try the dishes especially on a Friday since that’s rabo encendido night which is my favorite! BUENA SUERTE to this Cuban couple on their new place!!!!
The Cuban ‘round the corner has delicious authentic Cuban food and it’s BYOB! We brought our own wine, which they opened and kept cold for us in an ice bucket. We started with the Descubrimiento platter to sample all the appetizers. The Cuban empanada is just like biting into a Cuban sandwich, and the corn fritters were addictive, like the chicharritas and the croquetas and the chicharrones! The ropa vieja was sooo good and the chicken cutlet was real Cuban deeply seasoned. We went all out on desserts with 2 the mango pies, a guava cheese cake and a 3leches. Can’t wait to come back.
This place is a must for authentic Cuban food. I was told by the waiter, that they have life entertainment on Saturdays. Excellent food, service, atmosphere and average prices.
This is a Family owned establishment. I highly recommend this place. The ambiance here is always inviting and comfortable. Pricing is fair. Food and Service is Great. It's a great BYOB spot.
A hidden gem! Cozy and inviting atmosphere, great food and service! Be sure to check on their live music and special events!
Loved Cuban around the corner! We celebrated our brunch after our wedding ceremony! Audrey and her team were fantastic. The food and decoration were amazing! Thank you guys ❤️

Absolutely hands down one of the BEST Cuban restaurants I’ve ever experienced. The oxtail was honestly the best I’ve had in my life — incredibly tender, rich, and full of deep, authentic flavor that that’s clearly slow-cooked with love. Every bite melted in my mouth. And the Cuban sandwich? Perfectly pressed, crispy on the outside, warm and flavorful on the inside with the ideal balance of pork, ham, cheese, pickles, and mustard. Truly authentic and unforgettable. The atmosphere felt welcoming and genuine, and you can taste the tradition in every dish. If you’re looking for real Cuban food made right, this place is a must-visit. I’ll definitely be coming back!
Great food and atmosphere, especially for my company’s holiday party! The service was attentive and they went above and beyond to cater to our group of about 30. The entire restaurant was decorated tastefully with a holiday theme and that made it even more special. It’s byob but they accommodated all requests. I highly recommend this restaurant!

Spoiler: I took a star off because the owner repeatedly made us and our guests feel uncomfortable for decorating the table for a birthday dinner because she was mad we didn’t pay them extra to do it since “it is a part of their business.” Overall, this place is fantastic: great food, atmosphere, very gracious servers, the vibe and styling, and the live band was great! I wish this review could be just about this because really everyone and everything else was great, but the owner’s behavior really put a damper on the mood so I must dedicate most of this review to addressing her behavior: My husband and I came once before, loved it, and convinced our best friend to host her birthday dinner here. My husband and I arrived 30 minutes early to decorate the table: we brought gold chargers, blue and white plates, white flowers with olive branches for a centerpiece, lemons (for an Italian vibe), teapots, and a creamy white runner. I made sure to thoughtfully get things to compliment the restaurant decor itself. Also, I am 5 months pregnant so I wanted to make sure I had enough time to waddle around and get myself situated. We arrive, asked if it was okay to set up decor and the head server said of course, and showed us to the table. It took us 10 minutes to set up so even though it sounds like a lot, it was all put together and just required placing on the table. There was no disruption to the restaurant since our table was off to the side. While setting up a women that appeared to be the owner immediately came over to ask if we previously cleared bringing decor because they “don’t allow outside decor since they offer it as a paid service in the restaurant.” I said the birthday girl’s husband made the reservation and I didn’t know if he mentioned it or not in advance. Also, there were no posted signs, flyers, or notes in the menu about a decor business being a part of the restaurant so there is no way anyone would know or expect this to be a required add on service. She said since I didn’t know she would allow it. Importantly, the restaurant had only 5 tables of people (way less than 50% of the restaurant) at 8 pm on a Saturday in the middle of winter. Instead of being happy for our business on what was clearly a very slow prime night she thought it more important to chastise us for daring to bring beautiful decor to set up for a birthday dinner - something birthday groups do at any restaurant. I wouldn’t have cared of her admonishment to me if that was the last of it but as EVERY guest of the party was arriving she kept harassing them asking if they were the ones that made the reservation. Finally, when the birthday girl and her husband arrive and join us at the table, the owner runs over to confront the husband about the decor: right in front of all our guests and right next to the birthday girl. Soooooo unprofessional! Again, you have paying customers on a slow night - be happy and courteous even if you are annoyed that you could have extracted more money out of us by upcharging table decor. The birthday girl and her husband had not even taken their coats off and they are being berated for making a birthday celebration festive. Absolutely ridiculous! Our friends apologized and said he didn’t know and the dinner continued. Again, we thought it was over - it was not! As we are paying and putting on our coats the owner comes back to say loudly to our table that they do baby showers there (since I’m pregnant) and that they do it all, including all their own decor. We all just rolled our eyes, we get it ma’am, you do decor, please just let us enjoy our evening without you having to come make us feel uncomfortable every 5 minutes!!!!! We came to a restaurant and expected to come for food and a good time. If you as a business owner are trying to run multiple businesses out of one building, understand that every customer is not coming for all your side hustles - take what you can get, especially on a slow night and be happy that people wanted to come celebrate their special night at your establishment.
I'm excited to hear about a Cuban restaurant that does not do fusion. Came for late lunch/early dinner. Not many people at the time, yay. We sat down in a beautifully spacious dining room. It felt like we were underdressed in jeans and sneakers lol Sebastian was friendly and helpful. We ordered: Descubrimiento (Tour of Cuba’s appetizers): Papa rellena, Tamal, Croquettes, Empanadas, Chicharrones and Plantain chips - Potato Ball was tasty but the middle was luke warm but I'm used to it, as every potato ball we've had lately has a cold center...at least it wasn't ice cold Tamale was ok, hubby liked it more than I did Croquettes were meh neither of us liked it... Empanadas were delicious! I would get this alone next time Chicharrons were good Cuban Sandwich - delicious! Huge sandwich, too. The best part is, no mustard (I hate mustard, lol) the pernil was not dry like other places, yay! Rabo Encendido con Congri - so tender it fell off the bones. Very flavorful. Black bean rice was good. Iron Beer - too sweet, but it's canned soda, so I just have to remember not to order again, lol We also ordered bacalao to go. Had it the next day. Not much bacalao, which wouldn't be an issue if it had been good, but it was super salty. It's gonna be a pass next time... I would definitely go back go try other items.

Came here on NYE for a delicious dinner with my wife. The waiter recommended the picanha. It was delicious. We had some apps and a salad too. It was all terrific. We brought our own wine. They even gave us a dessert on the house. My wife is Dominican, so she was speak Spanish with the staff and other customers. Very inviting and friendly place. Will definitely return. Please folks , help keep these gems alive. Don’t go to chains..
Food was fantastic, service was very friendly. Went for Valentine's day before evening rush and it was very cozy. Artwork is eclectic but pretty. Only oddity is there are no windows, however the mirrors help make up for it.

The restaurant itself if clean with gorgeous decor. The wait staff was kind and friendly. But the food was seriously underwhelming. The lack of seasoning, herbs, and spices left me seriously disappointed. The food wasn’t bad, but it tasted as if it were cooked by some lady named Betsy from Minnesota. I expected to have my socks knocked off by authentic Cuban flavoring. I’m always disappointed when I have to add salt and pepper my own food at a restaurant. Lastly, the menu says avocado salad. I ordered it and it was just 5 slices of avocado drenched in olive oil. $8 for an avocado…. Seriously.
The food was ok I guess nothing over the top but it is byob and the people who work here are good but the food is missing its love !
You will be charged $2-3 more than if you order online. The Cuban sandwich was not very grilled/toasted - and it is very greasy. The pickles I picked out were good. To me it tasted like it was sitting in the fridge too long. You also don’t get plantain chips when you pick up like the menu says. I understand being a small business - and I do support… but there is a quality check needed, and up-charging (compare to your menu on seamless for example) and giving Doritos to your customers??? I would have appreciated more for almost $15.
I don’t know about type of their traditional favorite food . I didn’t like the food at all because they was all fried and full of oil . However the Resturant is so beautiful.

The quality of the food was good for the most part, but a friend's meal was cold, and they corrected that. They then promised not to charge for his dish and to give us dessert on the house. They did not end up giving us the meal or dessert on the house and changed us a cover charge per person for the band that we were not told we would be charged for.
I was disappointed. I read all the reviews and was excited to come. I dined in with my husband and everything we ordered they ran out of. It started with the appetizers all the way to the desserts. Also, I thought there was going to be an actual cuban band. It was a guy who sang (he was nice and played good music) but it was not was I expected. In addition, my husband’s steak was burnt. Lastly, the meal was super expensive. For two people it was $147 with tip. Ridiculous.
Classic over priced place. Meats were way over done, dry & hard. Nothing comes with your meal. Even though they make you feel it’s included with your meal. The only thing you weren’t charged for was the chair you sat on and the glass you drank out of. No one is allergy conscious, Cooking things to death doesn’t mean it’s allergy free. The live band was way too loud, you couldn’t have a conversation until the band took a break. Never again!! Stay away, well not worth it. And the place was empty for a Sat night!!!
Less than a star but I needed to add 1 star just to enter the review. Disgraceful and desperate way to operate and try to make money as a new business. We were charged a $10/pp cover fee. We were never informed of this nor were there any signs about this. Owner said she posted in social media - it's just a pretty poor way to operate. They will not last long in this neighborhood being so sneaky and dishonest, it's a shame because it could be a nice place but you will never do well operating so shady. I have no problem with a fee, there was plenty of time to inform us of it while we were there for an hour and a half dining. And they were hesitant to give us a receipt because they knew the fee was itemized there. It was the first time we ever even knew there was a fee. If you have a cover charge it should be posted prior to entering. Let me add my thoughts for food and service - but tbh the whole thing left a bad taste in my mouth after we were not informed of the cover charge. Also, last post on your social media Instagram account was for a June 8th event not for June 15th and I wouldn't even know your social media existed (or didn't think to even check it) as we only pass the restaurant to and from our home that's how we know of it and wanted to try it. The service was excellent the gentleman serving us was efficient and courteous and we left 20% for that and the food was just ok to be honest we got the Garlic Shrimp and Oxtail along with tostones, the Tamal en Hoja and the corn fritters. Oxtail had flavor and was super tender but very greasy I can't speak for the shrimp since that wasn't my dish. White rice and beans were included and were just fine. Tostones were very well done and tough. Tamal was ok and the corn fritters were nothing special but kids would probably enjoy it.
My girlfriend and I thought this place was a good restaurant, and the crazy thing is I happen to live right next door from it. The meat was way salty, and besides that, the chef came out. I guess he didn't like what we said about the meat being super salty that he came out mad rude didn't even introduce himself, or apologize about the 2 plates being salty. He came out explaining how the food was made, saying that he put orange season, but that doesn't have to do anything about the saltiness. first time and last time because they just lost a customer. . Now I see why this place is always empty. . Don't let the picture fool you. It only looks good on the photo. . Because Both plates were salty correction. . Nobody's trying to bring down the business if the chef didn't come out the way he did. I wouldn't have ever posted this. . 👇👇
The worst Cuban restaurant I’ve ever eaten. We had a party of 16 with 2 tables. 3 of the salmon that was ordered was overcooked. So over cooked it was so dry. The 2 churrosco we ordered as you see on the pictures is overcooked. We ordered medium rare. The size of it is about my 2 fingers. This was also $28. The ropa vieja was ice cold. My son’s chicken fingers was not fully cooked. The salad was very salty. The Cuban bowl was so small like a snack. The food took long to be served. They also forgot someone’s food as well. There was no actual receipt to review that everything we were being charged is correct. I had to sit there with an employee to add it up and it and their total was incorrect. Since we were a party of 16 the gratuity was a mandatory 25% which was not listed anywhere on the menu or in the restaurant. The workers were very attentive and I understand it’s a new restaurant but this is really the worst experience in dining ever. Casual Habana in New Milford is the best in the area.
