Really delicious, healthy tasting, fresh veggie dumplings. 8 per order - get with spicy chili oil and cilantro for a small extra charge. Also got a side of kimchi for just under $5 and it was HUGE - enough for four people. The kimchi had green apple and big chunks of ginger which gave it a unique and refreshing taste. Certainly got my veg on, will be back to try some of the meat options (there's a dumpling sampler option) and definitely work my way through the noodle section of the menu :)

I saw this staple wasn’t getting enough love in the upper west side, and HAD to leave my 5 star review. I saw other people talking about how the spicy dumpling were too spicy, like all they’ve been eating in their lives is milk bread with a side of yogurt??? The spicy dumplings are a lil spicy but like black pepper level. Go here and get the boiled dumplings in the spicy sauce. It taste great, is affordable and and overall great lil dinner for you to share :) The scallion pancakes are pretty bomb too, they do tend to skimp on the amount of filling though. But still worth it compared to any of the other places on Amsterdam.

When they first opened, they were very busy when I placed my first order. I could only get the frozen dumplings to go. It’s still very nice of them to sell me the frozen ones. For my second order, we tried a variety of items. Their Beef Noodle Soup tasted pretty decent with a good amount of greens in it. I personally would put some more green scallions as toppings. We tried to assorted dumplings and found the shrimp and corn ones were great! The Spicy Wonton was enough for me alone, but I ended up trying everything else and ate too much! Our three kids just shared the beef noodle soup and chive pork dumplings, and that was enough for them.

I saw Mikey Chen (food influencer) promoting Vanessa’s so I scurried over to take a peek. Pretty mid overall tbh. The chicken & shrimp wontons in chili oil were the highlight of the menu, so I would go with those if you can handle heat.

Cozy small joint with plenty variety of dumplings 🥟. Options to dine in, not very much space for hanging around, it’s more like in and out. Take out or even buy them frozen to take it home, which I believe is very convenient. They’re big portions, flavorful and delicious. It’s more like an appetizer for those with a big appetite.

Flavor of the filling was great, but my pan fried dumplings were a little burnt on the bottom. Excellent prices! Definitely will go back. Went back a second time and my dumplings got better prep. Also had a plain sesame pancake with chili oil. Great for the price!

The shrimp and chicken wonton soup was downright horrendous. It smelled so bad it was inedible And we tossed it. The pancake sandwich was good though.

Cute small spot. I had pork and chive dumpling and pork buns. My girl had chicken and basil. The dumplings themselves were not bad at all. Nothing amazing but also not bad. The pork bun however was not good. I ate two to give a good shot but there is a weird flavor to them as in not enough flavor. I really love the chili oil and Thai tea. Also very nice workers.

I really wanted to like this place, and obviously lots of people do, because it was busy when we went on a Thursday night. However, even though the prices aren’t bad, the food is just not quite right. The hot and sour soup was neither spicy nor sour, and the boiled dumplings had a puffy steamed quality, and taste wise they weren’t great. The shrimp and chicken wontons with spicy sauce were okay but surprisingly lacking in flavor. You can get bags of frozen dumplings to take home for $15.

Do not come it literally takes forever. The dumplings are good but you will be waiting for 30+ minutes and by then they aren’t worth the wait and price. Literally you can be the only person inside and it still takes FOREVER.

I used to love Vanessa's, but they are now commiting fraud. Overcharged me and refused to correct the issue. The owner told me that the digital menu posted above the counter "was subject to change" but could not explain why it had not been changed to reflect the price I was charged.
