I absolutely love the food here. I order very very regularly and have never had a problem on the take outs either. Excellent service.
Excellent food and service. Clean and tidy. Very pleasant staff. Some of the best hot-and-sour soup I've ever had.
Great food and service! The owner David is lovely as well!
Top level service. Delicious / fresh food and reasonable pricing. Newly renovated. One of my all time favorite restaurants in LA. Only downside is lack of parking...
Best Chinese kosher place.
Kosher Chinese meat restaurant with good service and good food. Gluten-free food is available and listed on a separate menu. We had a pleasant dining experience.
Always reliable and delicious. Waiters work hard to customize orders. Soup hits the spot this time of year.
The food was good and our server was very attentive. The family was happy overall. I recommend this restaurant.
Prices are great! Service is great The food is great! Would highly recommend the sussame chicken.
The menu is diverse and full of flavorful dishes. The Xiao Long Bao (soup dumplings) are absolutely a must-try — delicate, juicy, and packed with flavor. The Shanghainese-style braised pork was another standout, tender and perfectly seasoned. Everything we ordered came out fresh and beautifully presented.
I’ve been going here since I was a child and it’s always been my favorite restaurant. I’ve been getting the sweet and sour chicken since I was 5 and it’s the best thing ever. If you ask for it crispy with extra sauce it’s chefs kiss. The staff are so nice especially the owner David treats you like family. The wonton soup is amazing and so is the kung pao beef. I love this place and will never stop coming
Excellent restaurant really good Chinese food We were here for vacation for our honeymoon and David the owner made us a big celebration with so much joy I will never forget thank you for everything !!
Split the general tzo chicken and orange beef between two people, food was delicious, fresh, well seasoned and a d crispy. Beef was perfectly thin and crispy, with juts enough sauce. Not cheap, but yiu get what you pay for
Delicious authentic Chinese food. An Iranian Jew bought the place, made it Kosher, and retained the original Chinese chefs. I believe it is co owned together with one of the Chinese chefs. Prices were reasonable and portions were nicely sized. Great tasty and affordable place to go with the family and split dishes. Ambiance was very nice. Family feel, but with some fancy vibes. Service was excellent. John was our waiter. He was lightning fast and very sweet. I highly recommend getting the House Fried Wontons as an appetizer. They were scrumptious and had a very unique taste! The egg roll appetizer was nice and well worth the price for 4 medium sized egg rolls. Egg drop soup was alright. Had to have a couple spoonfulls before catching on to it. I dont reccomend eating anything salty right before tasting this soup. Chicken Low Mein was AMAZING. Flavors and textures were perfect!!! This is definitley an UMAME dish. Crunchy bean sprouts and yummy green onions. Savory mushroom and juicy delicious chicken. An absoutley tantilizing menu item. They even have an entire menu of alocohlic drinks! Strawberry daqueri was spectacular, garnished with beautiful mint. And the House Sake was super interesting! Must be prepared for a novel tastebud experience. And its pretty strong. Beware if you are driving! Highly recommend this place.
they were busy, but thankfully all was good. Their noodles arent so great, but their fried rice and sesame chicken and kung poa is bomb. Not too spicy - just right - and although a little expensive, you always take food home.. been going there for years. even the family from out of town loved it.
Excellent quality food. Delicious and fresh.
Food here is pretty good, pretty generic but not too bad. Not greasy, not over sweet. Come here pretty often with friends. They have a nice drink menu and bar, and the atmosphere is very comfortable and slightly upscale. Service is either great, or mediocre, really depends on who you get. But overall I've been happy more often than not.
Incredible to say the least. Such a classic spot. Authentic American Chinese delicacies. White table cloths. Comfy booths. Your childhood Chinese spot. And it’s kosher. Can’t beat it. I’d eat here even if I didn’t keep kosher.
For a first timer in LA it is a great place to go for lunch or dinner it's a bit pricey but okay.

The service & food has gone downhill as of recently. All the waiters had no clue of the goings on. Serving food with no plates, ignoring us, waiting forever for our check when they were all standing around. The food was awful. I think most of the items were frozen. The egg rolls were terrible. Very greasy and super well done. Fast food is better than this place and 1/2 the price. It seemed like another commercial boring restaurant with exorbitant prices and bad quality. We came at about 2:30 and it was very hot outside and inside. The owner shuts down the AC at odd times to conserve energy and it was boiling in the restaurant. I would NOT recommend anyone going to Shanghai. There are plenty of other Chinese Kosher Restaurant's.
Very simple: Food is exceptional, service is good, atmosphere is (depending on the time you're there) a little loud and chaotic. But, most importantly, the food is terrific.
Best Kosher food in Los Angeles and it's not even close. everything I've tried on their menu over the last three months since I got here has been amazing. The only hard thing is deciding what to get.
If you're looking for a delicious Kosher Chinese / Sushi experience, Shanghai Diamond Gardens is a must try. The service is only out done by their incredible cuisine and multiple choices of freshly made Chinese dishes. Bon appetite.
Ate there recently (12/2025) and the food, service, and ambiance were wonderful. The food has gotten much better in the last year, they must have gotten a new chef.
I’m from Miami where you have hundreds of kosher restaurants. This is by far the best kosher Chinese I’ve had in my life. 10/10, I will come back here anytime I’m in LA, love love love the options, everything was amazing!
Wow best Chinese food in town! All their dishes are amazing especially the rib eye which is always so juicy and tender. 5 stars all the way!
We had a delicious dinner with prompt and courteous service. The food was amazing to the last bite. It was like a textbook example of a great restaurant experience. Our compliments to the chef and wait staff. Can't wait to come back!

Excellent food, but don't let them tell you a reservation isn't needed. We arrived and had to wait 20 minutes. They said they had a late surge of unexpected customers. That's the whole point of a reservation.
Shanghai is a large, very well-appointed fine-dining Chinese restaurant that also has great sushi. They have an extensive menu and specialize in significant events. The best part is they are also fully Kosher. The mains were enormous; we got three mains to share between two people and had plenty of leftovers for lunch the next day. We recommend the orange chicken (soo good). Lo mein wasn't anything special. Service wasn't too bad. The downside is it's very pricey for what it is. Authentic American Chinese delicacies. White tablecloths. Comfy booths. It feels like an authentic Chinese place.
Best Kosher Chinese food in West LA. The Asparagus Beef, Cashew Chicken, Wonton and Sweet and Sour Chicken were delicious. Other times I have had Sushi and the Soups… all very good.
Food is excellent, service is fast and prices are good. Gave 4/5 stars cuz the ambiance and lighting needs updating - it’s quite dated and ugly. We got chicken dumpling soup (healthy, plain, decent), sizzling chicken (excellent!), chicken & snow peas (healthy, good), meat dumplings (great).
Overall nice lunch spot. 4 stars as I was going to order sushi but was informed it starts at 5pm not available for lunch :-( so I got the eggplant lunch dish and it was good! Big portion and tasty. No complaints and helpful waiters. The bathrooms were big and clean but the floors were sticky so that was another reason for the 4/5 review. Overall nice place!

Service was very friendly and the food came quickly. I did not find the food tasty, but it was fine for what it is - kosher American Chinese food. The food was also edible and did not make anyone ill, so woohoo. It pretty much tastes like any other American Chinese food in the states. 3.5 stars would more accurately express how I feel about this restaurant, but 3 would be unkind.

The food is standard American Chinese, tasty but not gourmet. Orange chicken was tough and not enough sauce. Very attentive staff always bustling around to help. Fast service.
I usually love this place. Last night we went out for my sons' birthdays and despite making a reservation for 5, they had the crappiest table in the house for us and we had to squeeze in. It was not optimal. It's frustrating spending so much on kosher dining when there is always something wrong. The sizzling rice soup was NOT good at all. Like someone forgot to cook it. Anyway, the service was great otherwise and the rest of the food was good. I'm sure we will be back. Better luck next time. 🤷♀️
Ordered Moo Shu and was disappointed that I got two pre rolled "burritos" with a good taste but little chicken. Service was fast and pleasant but that was a costly moo shu snack.
This place is so aggravantingly average. They clearly use food coloring to get their sauces impossible bright red. I would venture that their sesame chicken, orange chicken and General Tsos are actually all the same dish with different toppings - and they're not very good and the chicken pieces are too large - they should be chunks and should not require cutting. The soups are also very forgettable. Kosher Chinese food in LA is a major disappointment.
This place is overpriced and the food is bland. The Sesame chicken is among the worst I've ever had. With food that provides little satisfaction and prices that offend, this place is a no-go for me. Try Kolah Farangi or Bowls and Buns for mor pleasing Chinese dishes, but you may be best off making it at home as the kosher Chinese food in LA is extremely disappointing.
Rice was slightly undercooked, hot and sour soup was incredibly bland… ordered hunan beef and the bell peppers were practically raw, the beef was tough and chewy, and the sauce left a lot to be desired. Relatively small portion for the price. Giving 2 stars because it is edible for human consumption but can’t really recommend it for much more than satiating hunger.
We used to order once a week from Shanghai through DoorDash. One week they forgot our rice and for some reason gave us half a portion of chicken lo Mein- honest mistake right? So I call Shanghai and they said instead of sending their driver back with the rice they will give us a credit for rice and chicken lo mein for next time. Reasonable right? A few weeks later I call back to use my credit and the manager tells me that they can’t find my credit and that it’s impossible that there was a mistake with my order. His words were “ I don’t mean to insult you but it’s impossible that my kitchen sent you half a portion.” And he refused to honor the credit… all this for one chicken lo mein and rice??? Worst customer service I’ve ever seen. They lost our business.
Had Mongolian beef and chicken Tatay. Wasn’t all that good really. Asked for extra soy and mustard, was told isn’t it in there! It wasn’t but I was tired not in the mood to argue. East coast Chinese 💯 better
This place use to be good but has since gone downhill. The food is now sub par, with the orange chicken tasting gamey some how and soggy. Yuk 🤔🤢🤮. The food is pricey (I don't mind pricey resturants so long as its good like BH Thai). Also, expect a long wait to get your food and spend your time with other waiting customes with staff that seem like they hate being there. I have decided to stop coming here after after tonight being a 3rd disappointing dinner affair. Sorry but this place use to be good but has gone down hill.
Wish I could give Shanghai Diamond Garden zero stars. I placed an order to go and arrived at exactly the time they told me the order would be ready. They said it was going to be 10 more minutes. After 10 more minutes, they said it was going to be another 20 minutes. When I asked why, they said they were prioritizing larger orders. No apology, no shame. Horrible service, horrible attitude. I will never go back
Most horrible experience ever ! And rude customer service . My friend and I ordered 2 of the kung pao beef not only was the meat undercooked and tasted like rubber but it gave us both the stomach flu. We were throwing up all night . The least they could have done was to take it back for a refund . Don’t recommend this place unless you want to get sick like us .
Food quality is the worst I have had. I never leave reviews but I could not pass on this one. So disappointed, the beef they used for the beef pan fried noodles is not real beef, it tastes like a cat. Egg rolls and wings are so soggy. Never again

In short words the food tastes bad and also it took them like hours to make it I’m never coming back again and not recommending to anyone either !!!
We where 3 people for dinner didn't enjoyed. the food test like sugar and no test of chicken, beef or vegetables. No more Shanghai kosher restaurant sorry but that was terrible food.
The worst beef I’ve ever had. Can’t even call it beef. Had one bite spat it out and left.
