The growing popularity of Korean fried chicken reflects a greater familiarity with Korean culture. Celebrated for its crispy exterior and tender interior, Korean fried chicken has been a staple late-night snack in South Korea since the late 1970s and early ’80s. It’s typically known as “drinking food,” or anju, though Koreans also enjoy the crispy pieces of meat with non-alcoholic drinks. The dish is most often made with bone-in chicken thighs or wings that have been coated in a cornstarch mixture. Traditionally, the chicken is fried twice to take it to the next level of crunchiness. Located on a busy Stuyvesant Avenue in Union, I decided on bb.q Chicken for lunch. The acronym “bb.q” in their name stands for “Best of the Best Quality,” focusing on high-quality ingredients. Upon arrival as a first-timer at this modern, well-lit, clean establishment with Korean music playing throughout, I was greeted by the staff. Their menu features fried chicken, rice bowls, and Ddeok-Bokki. I decided on the Honey Garlic Wings brushed in a savory sauce with a mild tang of garlic and Chicken Fried Rice with vegetables in a classic kimchi base. The wings were prepared fresh (~20 mins prep time). The taste was deliciously amazing and addicting with a perfect balance of crispy and juicy with the right amount of spices. The complimentary pickled radish that came with the meal had a good balance. All was prepared for takeout even if one was dining there. Portions were healthy, and the price was comparable to the area. The staff is attentive and polite. Thank you for reminding me what real good fried chicken looks and tastes like.
Annoyed that my Filipino place across the street was closed when it wasn't supposed to be, I came here instead. I got the spicy calby chicken, kimchi fried rice, and a peach lychee drink. That fried rice was everything ! ! I don't typically like sauce on my chicken too much, but this chicken was perfectly fried and the sauce definitely added something special. Can't wait to stop by again ! !
First time having and it was delicious! Fresh crunchy fried chicken. Soy garlic flavor was swell and dumplings were also good.
Today was my first time at this restaurant. Can I just say this is the best wings I’ve had in a long time. Very juicy, perfect amount of crispy and so flavorful, cooked to perfection. I had the honey garlic with sweet potato fries and it was very good!.. also the radish!! Omg the radish!!! I want a whole jar of it. Having it paired with the wings was delicious🫶🏻
I tried the Secret Sauce Whole Chicken along with the Kimchi Fried Rice, and every dish was full of amazing flavor. So glad there’s a spot near my place — I’ll surely come again for more!
So glad they opened up a bb.q here. Owner is great we went before they even opened the restaurant to the public and let us try their offerings. Extremely delicious juicy flavorful. Can’t wait to try the other flavors they have. This time, we just had the cheese version. Soy garlic and hot spicy. I asked if they’ll offer the cheese wrapping chicken they have in the Asian market. he said he’ll bring it up with corporate. Oh and also just fyi they only offer 2 flavor choices on the medium wings. Hopefully soon they allow us to get different flavors on large wings. The restaurant was super clean and looks great. Parking can be an issue so just be aware. Oh and order ahead so it’ll be ready with you want to eat there or for pickup .
bb.q Chicken is one of my favorite restaurants and have been to quite a few locations. This is my third time ordering from this location and the quality is just as good as the other locations. Today I ordered the Secret Sauce Whole Chicken and a Kimchi Fried Rice (ate the egg before the photo 😅) and everything was delicious. Happy to have a location close to home, I'll definitely keep stopping by.
We had bb.q chicken for the first time last night at their soft opening and we loved it! We got the golden original wings and the soy garlic wings. Both were so delicious and the chicken was super crispy. We will definitely be back to try more!
The wings are prepared fresh (~20 mins prep time) so they are super crispy and well worth the wait! Nice and clean restaurant with seating. We got the tteokbokki and small boneless gangjeong wings with pickled radish, both were good. The tteokbokki was spicy and chewy, will need to add cheese next time! I’m curious to try other flavors for wings next time, apparently soy garlic and honey garlic are most popular.
restaurant was very clean. my pickup order was ready exactly at the estimated time. the guy working there was friendly. the chicken was 10/10. if u want good korean food, come here (don’t go to to the bonchon up the street)
Great food! Korean-style fried chicken was very crunchy & flavorful. Kimchi fried rice was tasty and had just the right amount of spice.
First time trying bbq and thought it was very delicious. Chicken wings were crispy and the sauce was flavorful and just the right amount. The pickled radish that came with it was a good balance.
Clean, well lit establishment. Great customer service, nice portions and cool packaging. I can’t wait to order again. Definitely worth the experience and money!

Food is always so good. Crispy breading on the wings with great flavors. Love getting the honey garlic here, and they’re generally very quick with getting the orders out!
First time placing an order and I am STOKED to place my next one! The chicken is so juicy and I chose such a good sauce! The pickled radish is really crisp and the whole lot kept really well (saved about half for lunch the next day). Great spot!
Food is freshly cooked. Waiting time is reasonable for in person but we always order for pick up. We love their chicken wings, so so good. Crispy, savory and just delicious. We love the soy garlic and honey garlic chicken wings!!!
I ordered honey garlic wings. Reminded of another Korean chicken place, but now I don't have to drive to Teaneck to get them.

Been meaning to stop by since they opened and Im happy the wait was worth it. At first glance you'd think the chicken is heavy because the crust is thicker than most Korean Fried chicken I've had. It is still light and crispy (although it steamed in the bag after 45 minutes in traffic). I agree with other comments of the sauces being sweet but they are good. Oh and the wings of fire are not for ppl with high blood pressure. Lol. I also had the chicken fried rice and appreciate the fact that they used chicken thighs and not breast. It is so good and not greasy at all! Ill be back soon to try other flavors and dishes.
Wings!!! While this spot offers yummy Korean-inspired bowls, fried rice, drumsticks, smoothies, and sides, my little family and I went hard for wings on our first visit. You can customize your wings to be prepped with 11 sauces and half-and-half boxes with combinations of 8, 16, or 24 pieces. All orders can come with complimentary pickled radish. Hubs and I found the Gangnam Style (black pepper/ garlic/ onion sauce) and classic Soy Garlic really tasty while my kids enjoyed the flaky Golden Original with ketchup and crispy Curly Fries. The wings were so good that I dove right in and didn't give a shit about getting my hands messy. While, I can't wait to try more of their menu, these wings are so good, they’re worth cluckin’ about! NOTES/TIPS: **About 5 tables inside that can seat 2-4 people. Excellent service. Wheelchair-accessible. **Pickup or Delivery via Doordash, yelp, Grubhub, Seamless, Postmates, Caviar, and Ubereats.

I’ve had bbq chicken at several of their other locations and decided to give this one a try since it’s relatively close to my house. I got one of my go-to’s, the secret sauce 8pc wings. They looked pretty good but smelled and tasted really bad. Not crispy like most of the other stores. I could only take a couple of bites and will not finish. I waited inside for my order and there was a strong burning smell in the restaurant. After spending $23 including drink and tip, I am super disappointed.

I have ordered wings here before and they were pretty good but decided to try the drumsticks today and they were severely undercooked even the skin under the crispy side was still stretchy. I had to throw them in the oven for 45 mins. Which is ridiculous and very disappointing and a wasted of 30 plus dollars. Hopefully I can get a credit or something
