A hide jewel in the area, wonderful ambiance, different little corners where you can choose from. So you can enjoy the different views. These lovely restaurant offers, and even if you so, choose to offering privacy, having your own little groom or your own table for yourself or family also has balconies. Rooftop. And a stage with live music it offers a good variety of food and flavors.Do not disappoint I love this place and will definitely come back again every single time I come to Bogota
Great place to get breakfast right next to the plaza del Chorro de Quevedo.
El Gato Gris is a great restaurant for it’s super cool environment, entertainment, great food, and fantastic service. We have been there a few times and the food is always quite delicious. We had soup, beef, lemon chicken and drinks. All very good. The waiters are friendly and very helpful. It has a cozy atmosphere that is warm and welcoming with natural wood throughout the restaurant. It has an old World charm. We will definitely be going back.
Such great food and service. Everything we ordered was delicious. Great atmosphere and location. Good menu selections. They had live music. Loved everything about this restaurant. I recommend to anyone to try!
From some of the reviews I had high expectations of our visit to El Gato Gris and they didn’t disappoint!!! The hostess was energetic, friendly and service oriented!!! Our waiter was always close by and quick to respond to our requests and make everything possible to keep us happy!!! We had fun exploring the different little rooms and balconies the place has in its three floors!!! It is like an old house turned into a restaurant and it felt cozy and welcoming...it even has a fireplace!!! Everything we tasted was very good. The live band was also pretty cool to see and listen to, although if you are not on the first floor you will not see them. Overall a great experience!!! Can’t wait to go back!!!
Lively and flamboyant this bustling restaurant in the city’s historic center has a unique layout with several floors of hide away tables in cubby spaces. The food and drinks were more than I expected and the prices cannot be beat.
We met a great guy at a local plaza who asked us if we wanted to look at the menu. We was nice and led us to a sweet local place. They had a large cart of food a a great drinks cart as well. The staff was friendly, the music was live and we had a great experiance.
Great food. Very tasty. Ceviche was out of this world. Service a bit slow at times. Wish they would have asked during the meal if everything was alright because one of our drinks was not super good. Doesn't change that it was an amazing rainy afternoon meal.

El Gato Gris was a fun find! The ambiance is fun and quirky. We enjoyed the palm hearts appetizer, Sunday local fish plate, and a vegetarian bowl. I had a sangria which had a delicious assortment of fruits, including gooseberries. The service was friendly and prompt. Overall a great stop for a Sunday dinner!
My daughter, who has spent most of her life in Australia, was amazed by the natural juices, desserts, and the cozy atmosphere at El Gato Negro. My family absolutely loved it, and we highly recommend that anyone visiting Bogotá stop there.

El Gato Gris – Bogotá’s Bohemian Den of Beer, Empanadas, and Neon Romance You land in Bogotá. First night, body clock messed up, altitude kicking in. You walk La Candelaria’s cobbled maze with that post-travel hunger—not for food, but for place. And then you see it. Red neon. Candlelight flickers through stained glass. A bar named after a gray cat—El Gato Gris. Locals talk about this place in hushed tones. Part dive bar, part art-house café, part live music venue. It oozes that worn-in charm of a spot that’s seen lovers argue, poets cry, and gringos drink too much aguardiente. You slide into a table. Menus arrive—Marilyn Monroe holding a cat? Of course. A server in a sharply dressed uniform greets you with ease. You get a Club Colombia Dorada, cold and crisp, and a serving of empanadas—golden, flaky, bite-sized bombs of seasoned meat and masa. Five of them, perfectly lined on a plate like an offering. And that’s all you needed. That plus the music, the laughter echoing off the brick walls, and the slight buzz of altitude-induced euphoria. Prices aren’t dirt-cheap—10,000 COP for beer, 10,500 COP for empanadas—but this isn’t just a snack. This is mood. This is Bogotá at its most seductive. You didn’t stay long, didn’t eat everything. But you got enough to know: this is a place you return to. For a longer night. For someone else’s story. For jazz echoing through a dim room while a stranger sketches you from across the bar. Food 3.8 Empanadas were hot, crispy, satisfying. Would come back for a full meal. Drinks 3.5 Local beer, cold and reliable. Wine and cocktails worth exploring next time. Atmosphere 4.5 This is the star: romantic, moody, bohemian. A true “find.” Service 4.0 Friendly, attentive staff. A touch of elegance in their attire. Value 3.7 Not the cheapest, but the ambience earns its pesos.
The service and ambiance were quite pleasant, but the food fell short of expectations. The menu initially appeared promising, and the appetizers were the only highlights in terms of food quality.
El Gato Gris is a charming spot tucked away in the historic neighborhood of La Candelaria. The atmosphere is cozy and bohemian, with beautiful terraces and live music that make it perfect for a relaxed evening. The service is warm and attentive, and the views from the upper levels are a real treat. The meat dishes are definitely the highlight—well-prepared, flavorful, and satisfying. I’d recommend sticking to those, as the ceviche wasn’t quite up to par. Still, it’s a wonderful place to enjoy good food, drinks, and the unique vibe of Bogotá’s old town. Worth a visit for the ambiance alone.

Good music but too loud for a conversation, I recommend access to the balcony, there are heaters, not all of them work for a good temp, but most of them are good

Food was great, staff were friendly and nice live music. Also great veggie/ vegan options with tofu and other veg. Mix of colombian and american and asian food.

The place has got potential but they aren't what I was expecting. Yet. I had to go and chase someone to give me the menu because the staff members were more interested in dancing to live music than being attentive and looking after the customers. My chicken salad was average at best - the flavours didn't really impress me; the bread that came with it was definitely stale and the salad leaves looked wilted. Plenty of places where one can sit and hide but the music can be overwhelming at times. Prices inflated for the quality they serve and given the location the place seems like a tourist trap. I wouldn't revisit.

Being generous with a 2 star. So the building itself is very nice and looks cool. The lady who greeted us was nice and friendly. However, after that it was all downhill. When ordering drinks we were told they had no water. Some complimentary bread was brought out with some olive oil and vinegar - the bread was quite stale. Starter (burrata and pesto) came out fairly quickly and was nice. We then sat waiting for the mains (ordered at same time as starters) for 50 minutes. In this time not 1 member of staff spoke to us or took away our starters plates. Somebody then came over and said they would be a further 10 mins , despite us seeing them on the dumb waiter a few metres away. The food itself (a salmon dish and some Chicken meatballs) were both very dry and distinctly average. Mine was the meatballs which were ok but served in a bowl in very plain rice. Also the bowl was round (think half a coconut) so cutting anything in the bowl was almost impossible without it spilling out. Place had some live music which gave it ok ambience. The first time we have taken the tip they add onto every bill out here off. It’ll continue to get visitors due to its location and the nice building it’s on but this was a pretty poor meal and very overpriced.

The title speaks for itself. Do not eat here yourneasting money. By chips from the street vendor . The only thing going for this place is the building itself is cool and that’s it
Despite the good atmosphere and decent service, the food was so bad. Impossible that the 4.3 rating is real! Worst ceviche in 3 weeks in Latin America. The fish was rubbery and the mussel FROZEN!!!!! The other 3 dishes were as bad, overcooked rice, potatoes and meat. Absolutely overpriced for the quality.
I was looking forward to this place since it has so many ratings. 100% they are giving fake ratings. The place itself had a decent ambience but my experience was horrible. I asked for a shot of tequila and they brought me a tequila sunrise which I did not want and also did not drink. But I was charged for it , I also ordered a salmon tartare which was good. For my entree I ordered the chicken meatballs over rice with curry sauce , with a salad. The presentation was nice but the curry sauce had no flavor and kinda funky. For being at the price range they are I held greater expectations. I wouldn’t recommend this place especially with the inflated fake reviews. 0/10 for me.
I have given this place multiple chances, it has been terrible every time. Terrible food, even worse service.
Even though the restaurant looks nice **NO RECOMMENDED.** I would leave zero stars if I could. Awful. Service from start to finish was not good. I had to chased the waitress to bring the menu and take our order. Two waitress took our order but didn't send it to the kitchen. While we were waiting for our food, we ordered some drinks (poor quality cocktail's). After an hour of waiting I asked for my food, the waitress went for find out and came back saying that the order didn't make it to the kitchen. Live music is a scam, the band comes up and plays two sounds every hour.

Wandering La Candelaria’s cobbled labyrinth, especially when the Bogotá altitude hits just right, you stumble upon places that feel less like a restaurant and more like a secret handshake.
