Came here for Valentine’s and had the BEST time! The food not only looked amazing but tasted even better. Everything was so cute and perfectly themed for Valentine’s Day, and every single bite was delicious. Service was top tier & Ricardo was incredible and truly made the whole experience even better! We felt so taken care of. Definitely worth the money and we will absolutely be back!
First time there. Cute, small, and cozy restaurant. Unique Mexican cuisine. Loved the drink menu. They also have an Italian restaurant attached to it. Didn't try dessert this time. But definitely going back.
We had the best brunch today at Panfila! We ordered the egg and potato flautas, sopes, and a mocajete. ALLLL DELICIOSO!! With some café de olla that was also very good. Our server Ricardo was also awesome! Definitely coming back.
Super amazing atmosphere and service. Ricardo, our server, was attentive and kind throughout. As an out of towner he helped me pick great food, brought the cutest giant heart concha, and made sure everything was great. The concha was amazing, best cafe de olla ever, & will come here again!
Breakfast at Panfila Cantina was fantastic, especially the chilaquiles. The chips were perfectly crisp yet tender, generously coated in flavorful salsa, and topped with fresh ingredients that brought everything together beautifully. Comforting, bold, and incredibly satisfying—definitely a breakfast dish worth coming back for
Stopped here for some breakfast and because my wife had seen this place on social media for the giant concha and gallon of Mexican hot chocolate. So glad we did because it was delicious! We had the pan dulce platter and hot chocolate, and the flautas con juevos with a cafe de olla and it was all really good! The pan dulce was fresh, hot, fluffy…and the flautas con juevos were so good. Also, the staff were all super nice and helpful. Great place and will definitely be back to try their dinner menu!
We went to enjoy the weather and eat outside with our furry babies. Service was awesome and food was delicious. We didn't get to try the huge concha but we tried the chocolate and coffee and they were sooooo good. We would definitely go again. We ordered different things to try and the fluffy quesadillas were the best. The torta with the melted cheese was very good and crunchy. The place was clean and super friendly staff. We ordered the churros for dessert with cajeta. Next time, would be concha time.
Today I came for breakfast with my boyfriend and everything was absolutely delicious. We ordered the champurrado and it was amazing. I ordered the "pitufina" plate, which is cholaquiles wrapped in cheese and it was delicious. The spicy salsa they served was also fantastic. If you come, you won't regret it. We also ordered the huge concha and the bread tasted absolutely delicious.
Me and fiance found out about their giant Conchas from Facebook. We picked a day to go get it and oh boy it was excellent. Sadly we only picked up the concha and left since the place was packed we people. The do have the largest concha (delicious), largest hot chocolate and largest torta. Yes the concha is on a standard pizza pan for scale. So if you want to expedite your diabetes and die happy, I would suggest to check this place out. We hope to come back and check out the food. Not it took 2 people 4 days to eat this. Delicious.
Santiago was our waiter and he was very attentive, sweet and patient. Very nice place, plenty of seating available. Today we had a party of four and didn’t have to wait for a table. Our food was all so good! Had a few appetizers beforehand, we didn’t get to try their chicharrón w/guac because they had just ran out! Bathrooms were kept clean.
Summary: Excellent food but unique and not a place most children would like. Ultimately I would come back but without children and with someone who is 100% fluent in Spanish. Details: The food was delicious. Chips and Salsa were an extra $5 even though everyone ordered a plate. The service was difficult because the waiter didn’t know any english at all and I’m not fluent. So in the end we had several up charges that he did NOT tell us. Extra for tortillas, extra for chips and salsa, $5 for a bean and cheese taco for a child. 🤨 Details regarding kids: There’s no menu for kids and the only breakfast item that was kid friendly was a pancake plate for $18! Two pancakes, 2 eggs and 2 bacon. Very overpriced for that plate.
We decided to try Panfila Cantina because of the great reviews and overall the food was delicious but pricey. I ordered plain chicken tacos (meat and cheese only) for my daughters. We received tacos dressed with sauce and guacamole so we had to send their meals back, in which they were glad to remake promptly. My husband ordered the chile relleno and he thoroughly enjoyed. He asked for a hot sauce and he stated it tasted fantastic! I ordered a barbacoa quesdilla but received chicken and ground beef (I think - it didn't look like barbacoa). Either way, it was delicious. The chicken (with mole sauce) quesdilla was just okay. Personally, I felt like it was missing something. There was a slight language barrier between the server and myself which contributed to the mixed up on the kid's order. Lastly, I saw a bar so I attempted to order a martini but our server mentioned no drinks. I thought that was odd but not a deal breaker. Again, overall it was pricy but delicious. I would return when visiting San Antonio. FYI: 1st photo is tacos, 2nd photo is of chile relleno and the 3rd photo is chicken and beef quesdilla.
I came mainly to try the huge concha with the 1-gallon café de olla, and it did not disappoint. Both were absolutely delicious, the concha was massive, soft, and flavorful, and the café de olla was rich, comforting, and perfect to share. Everything tasted fresh and well made. The place itself was nice and welcoming, and overall it was a great experience. I’d definitely come back again to try their food.
My spouse and I visited the restaurant yesterday after seeing them on Instagram food influencer pages, so I wanted to give my honest review as I highly depend on reviews for restaurants myself. #1 There are 2 restaurants in this space, an Italian & Mexican. We tried the Mexican-Panfila Cantina. #2 the atmosphere was a little more upscale Mexican than your average in SA. Nothing wrong with this at all, it was very cozy. #3 The food was sooo good, at least what we tried was good. It was a hard choice because we wanted to try EVERYTHING! This is authentic Mexican. In the images we tried Appetizers: -Street Mexican corn - AMAZING (hard to mess up on this one) -Spicy bean dip- it has pieces of Chicharron & pork, which chips. The chips have a seasoning which makes them VERY salty. So I wish the chips were just plain with no seasoning. I wouldn't get this again, but it was good. #4 Entrees: 1. Green Enchiladas filled with Quaxaca cheese. This was a great dish, no complaints. Very cheesy! Added a side of Fideo, it had a good flavor. Also came with some rice & beans, which were good. 2. Flautas with Birria - the flautas were very long, longer than your average flautas. The Birria had a good flavor, but it wasn't hot it was luke warm, almost room temp. Also came with rice & beans. 3. We also ordered a Tamale sampler plate to go because we are looking to place an order for Christmas dinner & wish to support a local business, but we wanted to try before we ordered. -The tamales.... I was wishing that these were going to be as good as our Entrees, and they were not. :( The masa is not seasoned, the masa was falling apart, and also tasted like potatoes. They didn't "WOW" me at all, so I won't be ordering my tamales from here. **We WILL be coming back to try more food. I still HIGHLY recommend coming here because of the authentic taste/quality.** #5 I also ordered a Paloma and it was very refreshing. The prices I felt were decent for what you get. Thank you! We spent $91 not including tip.
Got a warm welcome! I will say there aren't many options on the menu like other Mexican restaurants but I did enjoy the service and food. We always get fajitas anyway in any mexican restaurant so this was fine for me! My husband would of liked a few more items on there and he doesn't like that there was no draft beer only bottles. They serve sides of rice in the cutest little country rustic mini cups which I thought was so adorable! I'd go back!
The food was great but the server we got was horrible. Me and my daughter went and he brought me a glass of water with paper in it. Then never came back to see if we need refills. Took forever to take our order. Several people had the same issue. The table next to us order church's and they were soggy. Everyone felt it took forever to get drinks and to have our orders taken. They didn't even have the signature concha that they advertised said they were out. How can you be out so early in the day???
I went to eat with a party of four, one in a wheelchair and Ricardo immediately found us a spacious place to sit and moved a table so that wheelchair would fit. His service alone warrants like 10/5 stars. The man is incredible. Honestly, it felt like he was just an uncle that I've known all my life. The atmosphere was cozy and enjoyable, which is more than I can say about the torta I ordered. Even with the avocado sauce it was dry. I ordered a torta campechana and the meats were pretty salty. Also the chips don't mesh well with the torta in my opinion. I would've loved if there had been more refreshing items to add like lettuce and tomato. The menu description didn't say if they were available, but I also didn't ask Ricardo if he could get some added to it. Thankfully I was able to wash down the salty torta with some sweet agua fresca (Jamaica). Overall I felt like the food was overpriced. But I must admit that those enchiladas de mole were delicious. (I stole some from my sister). We ordered dessert. The Gansito was delicious. It tasted like Mexican hot chocolate. The churros were also palatable, though for my liking it had way too much of the sugar and cinnamon coating. (That's just my personal preference though!) I ordered the flan because the menu said it came with berries. What I got was very disappointing though. The flan was mushy and instead of fresh berries I got some sort of overly sweet strawberry jam. Even so, our overall experience was great thanks to Ricardo. I really appreciate how that man was on top of everything. I hope he gets all the raises/promotions/ prizes possible because he was just that great.
Drove 3 hours to try this place out and everything about it was disappointing. Guacamole tasted like dirty cutting board and the chicharron was stale. Torta de milanesa was awful too. The bread was stale and the milanesa tasted like freezer burn. It was cold, greasy, and dry. Server was not very friendly either and witnessed a female employee leave the restroom without washing her hands. At that point, we asked for our check and left as fast as we could. NEVER AGAIN!!! Do not waste your money on this place. Overrated!!!
