Cool little place with a great menu and definitely reasonable prices! Service was good and fast and food was delicious. Definitely worth a check and they have happy hour which is a huge plus! Great place!
The food is great and reasonably priced. The Lychee Lemonade is very refreshing and the lady who served us yesterday 1/14/26 at 11 AM, was so nice and very helpful. For the service alone, I would always go back here.
Great food. Great service. Fresh food. Only complaint is they don't have Amazon prime and we couldn't watch the Bears vs Packers game. I got the garlic noodles with shrimp and sausage and my son got the salmon with rice and fries. Really good!!
Don't usually write reviews but I really enjoyed my visit here. I came to visit family and I know how crazy they get with their orders but the staff was very patient and I thought did a great job all around with the food, experience, and hospitality. All the workers made sure we were taken of and I really hope they get the credit they deserve
Louis was our server. I ordered a cucumber lemonade, half a dozen oysters, the New York steak, a pound of shrimp, and a pound of mussels, all seasoned with Cajun lemon garlic spice. It was perfectly spicy and delicious! I also got 3 chicken breasts and fries for my kid. On Veteran's Day, they offer a 20% discount on seafood, which is really cool.
This restaurant has became one of my boy’s favorites. The food is always amazing—like the buttery shrimp pasta, fish tacos, fresh pineapple smoothies, and dessert…it really feels like a mini vacation. We especially love their dry ice cleaning experience, which totally wowed my kid. The servers drop dry ice into a bottle of water, creating lots of bubbly steam that can be used to clean hands and even get rid of odors. Such a clever idea! My son absolutely loved it.
Arrived at opening so there was no wait to be seated. Plenty of food options on the menu, more than I remembered from when they opened years ago. The Caesar salad is entree size. They offer chicken fingers for the kids and chicken for the people who don’t eat fish. Their speciality is shrimp and crab in the bag like a boil where you pour it on the table or you can eat yours individually. Their speciality shrimp was $18.99lb plus $2 if you wanted your shrimp peeled. Snow crab was $29lb. These prices are market prices so they fluctuate. King crab if I remember correctly is $69lb. Service was great. Also, I recommend the beignets, they are yummy and add the strawberries.
The food was delicious. We had a variety of things. I enjoyed the most the Brussels Caesar salad with Cajun shrimp and the lemon pepper wings. We had margaritas that were wine- based and surprisingly 🔥. Husband and friends at the table had the seafood boil, gumbo, shrimp tacos and beignets. We loved everything. We were the last to leave that night. Service was great and the atmosphere was cool. It's a small little restaurant. Worth the ride out to Brea.
Wow, just wow. The food here was so flavorful. The place is very unassuming. It is set up like a local pizzeria, but the food quality and service are straight up 5 stars. Our server was lovely and on point. The portions are large. The mojitos were perfect. I spent two weeks all over the LA and San Diego area and this place was, by far, my favorite spot. Do yourself a favor and visit this place, you won't be sorry.
On the Hook is an absolute gem for seafood enthusiasts, and my dining experience here was nothing short of exceptional. From the moment I walked in, the inviting ambiance set the stage for a culinary journey that left me in awe. Here's a breakdown of the dishes that stood out: 1. Live Oysters: Freshness takes center stage with the Live Oysters. Served on a bed of ice, each oyster was a pristine taste of the sea. The briny burst and creamy texture were unparalleled, leaving me craving for more. 2. Clam Chowder: The Clam Chowder was a bowl of pure comfort. Rich, creamy, and generously loaded with clams and potatoes, it was a hearty delight that warmed my soul. The flavours were perfectly balanced, making it an instant favourite. 3. Garlic & Cheese Flat Bread: The Garlic & Cheese Flat Bread was a wonderful starter. The crispy yet fluffy bread, generously topped with garlic and gooey cheese, was a perfect prelude to the seafood feast that followed. 4. Fish and Chips: The Fish and Chips were a true testament to On the Hook's commitment to quality. The batter was light and crispy, revealing perfectly cooked, flaky fish inside. Paired with golden fries, it was a classic done to perfection. 5. Jambalaya: The Jambalaya was a flavour explosion! The blend of spices, perfectly cooked rice, and an abundance of shrimp and sausage created a dish that transported me straight to the heart of Louisiana. A must-try for those who enjoy a bit of heat. 6. Seafood Boil with Corn, Shrimp, Crawfish: The Seafood Boil was a spectacle of flavors. The medley of corn, shrimp, and crawfish soaked in the house blend of spices created a party in my mouth. Messy, delicious, and absolutely worth every finger-licking moment. 7. Thai Iced Tea: The Thai Iced Tea was a refreshing companion to the bold flavours of the seafood. Its sweetness and hint of spices provided the perfect contrast, leaving my palate cleansed and ready for the next bite. 8. Cold Vietnamese Coffee: To cap off the meal, the Cold Vietnamese Coffee was a revelation. Smooth, strong, and sweetened just right, it was a delightful conclusion to an unforgettable dining experience. In addition to the outstanding cuisine, the service was impeccable. The staff was knowledgeable, attentive, and genuinely passionate about ensuring each guest had a memorable time. On the Hook has undoubtedly secured a spot as my go-to seafood and grill restaurant. I can't wait to return for another culinary adventure!
Second time coming in and got the garlic parmesan fries and garlic noodles with sausage. Those two are the must have here, don't come in without getting that. Ended with beignet and fried banana. Get the ice cream with dessert, they pair nicely. Edit: service is always great here! The staff is always hard working and kind.
Food and flavor is on point, but felt like they skimp a bit to cut costs. Added clams and veggies to a noodle dish to which they added very few veggies and only 4 tiny clams that cost an extra $4! Ouch. Also had their catfish dish which was very much on point; one of the tastier catfish dishes I've had in the area.
Pretty good shrimp place. I feel like all these boiling crab type places pretty much all taste the same but this store has a few more selections on their menu. Definitely would recommend if you are looking for a place that doesn't have long wait times and is less crowded than boiling crab. Service was also great. Also might be cleaner because they give you a little pan and plate to keep your shrimp and shells in instead of all over the table.
The service at this place is top notch. You don’t just have your server checking on you, but different employees who walk by as well. They have a decent Happy Hour M-Th all day. Not good selection of beer, but I think wine pairs better with seafood anyways. If you are a fan of the Mojito, you have to tried theirs. They use real fruit, real mint, everything is fresh and it makes all the difference. A must try in my books. If you not a seafood lover, don’t worry there are other things you can choose from, like their Mac and Cheese . . . Yum. The best part is creating your bag of goodie, from the seafood, to add-ons of corn, potatoes, sausage, then choosing the sauce everything will be absorbing. My personal favorite is the mix of all three. Will be back, a lot menu items I haven’t tried yet.
The food wasn't bad but it wasn't exceptional either. I had the Mac and cheese with sausage, it stated andouille sausage but it tasted like regular smoked sausage from the store. The Mac and cheese itself was doable seemed more like a cheesey boxed not like homemade. I saw a few people ordering the boil with seafood sausage, corn and potatoes. I think that might be their most popular item that people order. Our server was nice her name was Natalie, it didn't get very busy while I was there average about 4-5 tables full. The restaurant was clean and it's centrally located, lots of parking. If you're in the mood for a seafood boil and you're willing to try this place, I think you should.
When I saw Cajun restaurant, I honestly wasn’t expecting boiling crab style but that’s what it was. The happy hour drinks were $8 and though they tasted amazing, I couldn’t taste any alcohol at all. The seafood is bomb, steaming hot bags of shrimp and mussels with sausage. The service is amazing, she was super friendly and helpful. The other food however much left to be desired. The jambalaya was just watery rice without much flavor and the Mac n cheese was also flavorless. I had to use all the extra sauce from the seafood to pour on top of both (along with hot sauce)
