I absolutely love this place! It’s my must-visit spot every time I’m in NYC. We ordered fresh oysters, miso soup, a salad with ginger dressing, shrimp tempura, the Love Boat, a tuna roll, and a salmon roll — everything was fantastic. The oysters and sashimi were incredibly fresh, and the ginger dressing added a bright, refreshing touch that perfectly complemented the meal. This restaurant never disappoints! Even my picky-eater kid couldn’t get enough of the shrimp tempura and miso soup. I also love the cozy atmosphere and the beautiful new decor — it makes the dining experience even better.
We love Sapporo so much. As longtime residents of the neighborhood we have been coming at least twice a month for many years. Somehow it just keeps getting better. If you care about quality sushi and a cozy setting, this place is for you. Plus the service and price can’t be beat!
This is a Greenpoints staple it’s been here for at last 25 years and it’s always been excellent!!!! -that’s why it’s still here !! i’ve seen many celebrities drop in for takeout or sit in the backgarden… if you’re here for dinner, you may enjoy free sake……..
Amazing sushi! Everything was super fresh and beautifully presented. The sushi boat looked stunning and tasted even better. Great service and cozy atmosphere, definitely coming back!
I really loved this place! The fish was super fresh and tasty, and the whole vibe of the restaurant was great. The staff were so nice and friendly, which made the experience even better. I’d definitely come back again
Frankie my brother has been making the best sushi in Brooklyn for many years I been going here since 2013. He is the best and always family to me. Thank you always my brother Frankie for the Orange Clam. From your brother Mike Nitty 💯💯💯
★★★★★ Absolutely the best sushi in Greenpoint! Sapporo Ichiban is a true gem on New York’s culinary map! Located at the corner of Manhattan Ave and Nassau Ave, you can feel the special atmosphere as soon as you walk in. The owner, Franke, is passionate about his craft and takes great care of every customer, creating a warm and welcoming ambiance. The ingredients are always fresh, and the presentation is simply outstanding! Every piece of sushi is prepared to perfection, with flavors that blend harmoniously into a true feast for the senses. If you want to experience the authentic taste of sushi, you absolutely must visit Sapporo Ichiban. It’s a magical place that will keep you coming back for more!
Best sushi period. Been coming here over 20 years. I've tried other places but no others ever really come close.
Popped into this quiet neighbourhood Japanese restaurant after a swim and was very pleasantly surprised. Big plates of sushi, thoughtfully put together at a decent price. The deluxe platter was the highlight, featuring some hefty pieces of fresh fish.
Amazingly fresh and portion is big. Definitely a good place for gathering dinner. Love it and highly recommended.
This restaurant is amazing! The fish is super fresh and absolutely delicious. The atmosphere is cozy and pleasant, making it a great place to enjoy a meal. On top of that, the staff are extremely friendly and attentive, which made the whole experience even better. Highly recommend!
The best sushi! It’s so fresh and the quality of the fish is always the best. They definitely don’t cheap out on the cuts, they’re huge! The service is amazing and they give free sake with a minimum purchase. I’ve enjoyed everything I’ve gotten there and always make a point to go when I’m in town.
The place looks really nice, the chairs are comfy, the servers are fast and friendly, the food tasted really nice and for all I spent it was affordable. Keep in mind that the wasabi here is really spicy compared to other restaurants I've been to.
As a sushi lover, after eating my chirashi bowl delivery I’m upset I haven’t tried this place sooner. Wow it was generous: a real chirashi bowl with LOTS of fish and variety, including o-toro and mackerel. Excellent value and taste. Super fresh. Please keep it up. This was amazing and will be my go-to for sushi cravings. Worth the delivery, which was fast. Bondi, samurai mama, ten-ichi, and mizu have nothing on this joint. It IS a more expensive bowl, comparatively, but for what it is, a very satisfying meal.
Absolutely love Sapporo Ichiban. The food is consistently fresh, beautifully presented, and thoughtfully prepared. The atmosphere is calm, cozy, and welcoming — perfect for a relaxed dinner where you can actually enjoy your conversation. And the Valentine Roll is outstanding. The balance of flavors and textures is spot on, with incredibly fresh fish and just the right touch of sauce. It’s as beautiful as it is delicious. Honestly, this is the only sushi spot I go to — specifically because of the Valentine Roll. It keeps me coming back every time. You can really tell they care about quality and detail. Always such a lovely experience.

Haven't been there in years! Always a Terrific experience for indulgence par excellence. The freshest, tastiest fish and extras to start... So glad it's still available for more culinary adventures in the very near future... Who can't resist the complimentary Sake, hot, perfect temperature, naturally so...
Loved it. Been going there for 25 years....same people...same delicious food.
Loved the penang curry- reasonably priced and delicious
For so many years we enjoy the delicious food @ Amarin Cafe. The Chef is amazing, we went to many other Thai Restaurants and there is no comparison, Amarin Chef is absolutely the best in NY. The kitchen is right there in front of you, everything is extremely clean and fresh. Great Thai Restaurant = AMARIN CAFE
Absolutely delicious authentic Thai cooked by a warm, welcoming family. We had the dumplings, chicken panang curry and pad see ew it was all delicious! Can’t wait to come back and try more things
Title: A Culinary Triumph at Amarin Cafe—Just Bring Your Reading Glasses! Review: Last night, I ventured into Amarin Cafe in Williamsburg for a dinner that tantalized my taste buds at reasonable prices. The dimly lit ambiance set a romantic tone, perfectly complemented by soft background music, making it an ideal spot for a serene evening meal. Each dish was a delightful revelation. The Tom Yum Soup, listed as "Tom Yam" on the menu, was a perfect balance of sour and savory with a hint of sweetness, its aromatic broth enriched by fresh, tender shrimp and crisp vegetables. The Green Market Salad was a refreshing follow-up with its fresh, crisp greens and perfectly balanced balsamic vinaigrette. The evening star was the Thai-style Fried Rice, boasting a perfect smokiness and savory-sweet flavor profile, with fluffy rice and succulent beef that melted in my mouth. Navigating the menu was a challenge due to the small, faint print in the dim lighting. A pro tip: taking a photo and enlarging it on your phone might help, though it's a bit of a hassle. Despite the food's excellence, the service could have been more attentive. Being the only diner initially, I expected a more engaging experience. The efficient yet distant waitress did not check in or offer a smile. Also, while the restaurant promotes a BYOB policy, it should be noted that this does not apply to soft drinks, which must be purchased at the restaurant. Remember, it's a cash-only venue, so be prepared with bills in hand. In summary, while Amarin Cafe offers a culinary journey worth taking, a few improvements could enhance the overall experience. Come prepared with cash and maybe a flashlight and magnifying glasses for the menu!
This wasn’t the restaurant I originally was gonna go to, but stumbled upon it and decided to try it out. It did not disappoint. The service was excellent and quick, the staff was very nice and welcoming. The wait time for the food was not too long and when it came I wasn’t too impressed with the presentation, but then again all that really matters in the end is the taste and oh my god the pad Thai was banging. It was so good that I had to finish my plate. The only slight disappointing thing about this place is the atmosphere as there was no music and no people so it was very quiet, though it wasn’t too big of a deal. If anyone wants to have good cheap quality food, go on to greenpoint and enjoy what this small business has to offer!
Really liked this restaurant. The staff are very courteous. The food was really on point here, and the meal prices are very fair. Came here for Valentine's Day because we were on a tight budget. High quality food at a great price. The ambiance is very stylish and romantic as well. Steps from McCarren Park.
Easily the best Thai food in all five boroughs. Delicious food. Great price. Great staff, always friendly. There has not been a week that has gone by where my wife and I have not eaten here at least once. If you love Thai food oh, this is the place for you!
Great for an afternoon lunch! Tried the Red Curry and Thai Iced Tea. Comes in a milkshake glass, filled to the top! Got red curry medium spice, i will probably do a little more next time but very hearty curry, very savory! Balanced amount of chicken and veggies! Maybe a little more chicken :) Be back again soon!
Small restaurant but very cute. The food is good. The lunch specials are amazing and there are several choices. I had the Shrimp Teriyaki Combo which includes Miso soup, Salad, Rice, Roll and Shumai. It was very tasty. The service is ok. My only complaint is that after the meal was finished, the server didn't bother to ask if we would like dessert. We weren't going to get any but it is the norm to ask. Other than that, I enjoyed the experience.
I ordered out from Sapporo Ichiban because I could not go out. Food came faster than I expected. I went to eat at the place long time ago and other than that I only got deliveries. About the quality of fishes, the price should be lower than this, but I understand the cost of living in Greenpoint, so I look over it. My order was..... - Shoyu Ramen: broth with braised pork belly, egg, shredded, wood-ear mushroom, bamboo shoots and fish cakes. 6/10 - Mixed Seafood Salad: Shrimp, Octopus, Squid, Kani with spring mix. 6/10 - Manhattan Roll: Spicy crunchy salmon roll, tuna, salmon and avocado on top. 6/10 - Tuna Jalapeno Roll: Small 8 pcs 8/10 - Bonzai Tree: Crab avocado, caviar, ebi wrapped with cucumber. 7/10 The score I gave are quality/price/and taste. I can say if you want to eat take out quality sushi in a budget, Sapporo will be another choice that isn't too bad.
Best pad Thai in town. Curries and rice also great. Appetizers are all good. Just go. Edited: 6/21 It’s with a heavy heart I have to remove a star. Consistency has really dropped off in my opinion. Prices are higher and food seems less flavorful and kinda skimpy from what it once was. Last several visits, I got a chicken pad Thai with 2-3 small pieces of chicken and virtually no egg. Just overcooked shredded noodles. Please fix this Amarin!
Great people, very kind when I went in to pick up. The flavors weren’t what I normally associate with Thai though. Portions are not the generous portions I typically associate with Thai restaurants either.
I’ve been coming here over the last 6 years, sometimes have my business meet ups here. It was always an easy go spot- good lunch deals. However I was left pretty disappointed with an experience there. We chose this spot to celebrate my 13year old for his birthday, who loves sushi and wanted fried fish very cream for his birthday. We sat in the garden and ordered a bunch of rolls appetizers and an order of fried rice. Veggie fried rice. The fried rice came when the sushi was just about done, but one bite and it was soooo spicy none of my kids could eat it. I was confused because it’s just fried rice. Turns out it had jalepeños in it. Not a typical ingredients in fried rice and one I would’ve definitely flagged since I cannot eat jalapeños or any pepper for that matter. Not only do I have a nightshade sensitivity. I have a pollen allergy that limits me from eating most fruits. Again something I’ve been able to navigate very well for the past 20 years. When none of the fried rice was eaten on the waitress came over I said we cannot eat it this because it has jalapeños in it it’s really spicy. Can we just get the dessert menu?and her reply was well you should’ve told me beforehand “ i said, but it didn’t list that there was jalapeños. He brings over the menu and she points to small lettering that says list your allergies. And I said I get that and I have lots of allergies too much to list. Whether I’m very careful what I order and I’ve never had fried rice that was made with jalapeños, unless it was a specialty rice and it listed you guys should be listing this unusual ingredient. She replies well we can’t take it off the bill. So I reply I’m not paying for this She goes back I guess to speak to the manager and she comes back and she says well we’ll remake it for you At that point, I’m frustrated. I said I don’t want you to remake it and I don’t want dessert just cancel. I paid I tipped her. And I’m so turned off to go back to the space that are so incredibly petty. I’ve worked in the restaurant industry a long time. My husband is a chef and I’ve never. when I arrived at the restaurant and sat down, they were three other tables every table had carafes with lemon cucumber water and she brings us instead 5 cups of regular tapwater so I said can we have the cucumber lemon water everybody else has. It’s important to know we’re the only obvious Latino family there, everyone else being white and it’s hard to think that this wasn’t a race thing. I was most upset that we went here to celebrate my son’s 13th birthday and we didn’t even get to have dessert and sing happy birthday to him.
My friends and I ordered takeout from this place, and we were very disappointed. My noodles were supposed to be spicy, but they had no flavor at all. There was almost no chicken in our meals—just two tiny pieces in mine. And as if that wasn’t enough, I found a long black hair in my food. Very disappointing experience.
I really hate doing this-leaving a business a one star review but the only way a positive change has a chance to happen if when you give an honest and genuine feedback. I had a quick lunch on October 14, 2022, the reason I remember the exact date because I just got back from a retreat. I ordered my favorite Thai dish- vegetarian red curry. What should I say… never have I ever left a Thai restaurant hungry. Usually that dish is always enough for me to have and not feel hungry at all and at some restaurants even a bit too full, but the portion of it in this particular place was ridiculously small. I thought maybe it was a lunch special in that case it’s ok , u pay less and just order a few more things… but It wasn’t a lunch special, I checked. The price was just regular dinner course price. But that is not even the biggest problem. The hell with the portion, one can always order something else if not enough. The taste of the dish was very strange. It was way too salty and no distinguishable Thai red curry taste with the sweetness this dish usually comes with. Just simply not tasty. I sent the dish away to make it at least less salty. It helped a little but not much. I left disappointed and hungry. I was afraid to order something else at this point. I decided to go and look for pizza. Also, on top of that they don’t except credit cards, cash only. Never coming back.
