Loved our croissant making class with Chef Ariana who is a wonderful, patient and accessible teacher. Went home with enough goodies to feed a small army. Highly recommend!
I stumbled upon a little piece of Paris in Brooklyn :) Atelier Ariana might make my favorite plain croissant in NYC—and that’s saying a lot since I usually go for the flavored ones. It is a charming bakery in Carroll Gardens serving artisan French pastries and desserts, curated by Chef Ariana Barkin. Everything here is beautifully crafted. It’s a quiet, relaxing café for getting work done on a weekday. I’ve already been to Atelier Ariana twice in a month. The staff couldn’t have been sweeter. Big shoutout to Caroline for walking me through the menu and giving me great recs every time I visit. *Croissant $5 I could totally taste how fresh it was. Even at room temperature, it was still very flaky. The center was different from typical croissants, it was softer and fluffier, and wasn’t overwhelmingly buttery either. It’s a croissant I’d love to eat every day. *Strawberry Cake $6 I went with their spring special. The cake was filled with fresh strawberries and layered with jam, while the butter cake was incredibly moist and rich. So obsessed. *Gruyere and Rosemary Torsade $6 So aromatic and crunchy! I enjoyed the rosemary flavor. A solid savory pastry choice for breakfast. *Gateau Marbre $4 Highly recommended by Ariana and Caroline, I gave it a try and WOW, I got the hype! Imagine a fudgy and gooey brownie but better — they blended hot fudge while making it. *Orange Almond Cake $3 Citrusy cake with a dense and moist texture, and it was gluten free! *Apricot Cookie, Strawberry Cookie $1.5/pc Seasonal cookies garnished with fruit jam. Fruity, bright, and buttery mini bites for summer. *Latte w. Oat Milk $5.9 The latte art really made my day. You don’t usually get a solid latte at a bakery. The milk was well steamed, and the espresso-to-milk ratio was just right. The price even included alternative milk, which was a nice bonus.
The bakery has amazing pastries and delicious desserts! Step off the streets of Brooklyn and enter the heart of Paris! Such a great atmosphere and kind staff. 10/10 would recommend!
I went here for the July croissant making class and I highly recommend it. Ariana was a great teacher and taught us all of the basics and a little bit extra of how to make viennoiserie (the name of which, I learned from the class, comes from the birthplace of croissants: Vienna). She was engaging and prepared and I learned a lot and also walked home with a bag full of DELICIOUS pastries that now I am swimming in.
Wow wow wow! I haven't tasted croissants and pastries this good since I lived in France. I've been to this beautiful new cafe 3 TIMES in their first week. I've tried the plum butter cake, financier, pain au raisin, almond & chocolate croissant, plain croissant, cookies – everything is so incredibly delicious. Baked fresh and so buttery. And I love that the chai latte is not too sweet! Lovely place to sit and work on a weekday. Good WiFi and a very nice bathroom downstairs. I will be back again and again!
The atmosphere is cozy and inviting and the baked goods and coffee are amazing! They nail the classics like croissants and pain au chocolat but what really impressed me was the plum cake. Definitely stop in if you’re in the neighborhood!
Very beautiful little bakery. The coffee is always on point, and the pastries are always amazing. I just wish they had more breakfast and savory items
Fantastic addition to the neighborhood - relaxed atmosphere with meticulously baked pastries. The owner and chef so clearly loves her craft, and it shows in the quality of every treat on offer. I love the attention to season (plum cakes recently changed to pear cakes!), cant wait to return.
Feels like a little cozy French nook within Brooklyn! It is worth a visit for the delectable plum cake. It was perfectly crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. It’s female owned and the baker trained in Paris and it shows! I can’t wait to visit for years to come ❣️ yes chef!
Absolutely delicious! Chef Ariana is amazing and I tried a variety of pastries which were all great (not all pictured here, got to visit a few times haha). I especially enjoyed the almond pain au chocolat and the chocolate cupcake, as well as the cheesy savoury pastries.

I have followed Chef Ariana since she was baking incredible pastries out of her apartment. Her pastries are exquisite and I have not found any other place in the area that compare to her croissants (other than bakeries in France!). When I saw that she was offering an Art of the Croissant class, I had to experience and learn how to make fine pastry dough. I thoroughly enjoyed the class and even more so, all the pastries we were able to take home and savor! Treat yourself!
I had the best brunch experience at Atelier Ariana in Brooklyn! The vibe is super cozy and stylish without trying too hard, and the staff was so warm and welcoming from the second I walked in. My food came out quickly and honestly tasted even better than it looked—and it looked amazing. Everything felt fresh, thoughtfully made, and way more special than your usual brunch spot. I left feeling full, happy, and already planning my next visit. If you’re looking for a cute place with great energy and even better food, Atelier Ariana is definitely the move.
I was visiting my niece and family in New York City when we decided to go to Brooklyn for the day. We walked by Atelier Ariana and decided to go in for a cup of coffee. Once in the door you have a feeling of being in a patisserie in France. It’s hard to walk into this patisserie and just have a cup of coffee. We ordered the quiche of the day which came with a side salad. The quiche was delicious and the side salad was made from fresh ingredients Then came hard part……. Which pastry should we share? Since we could not decide, we got one brownie, chocolate chip cookie, and a piece of plum cake and we ate all three. Then we ordered croissants to take home. The croissants were amazing. The best I have ever had. This patisserie is a must to visit The staff was very friendly and we were lucky the Chef/ownerAriana came out To visit.
If I were to sum up Atelier Ariana in one phrase, it would be a little corner of Paris in Brooklyn and I couldn’t be more pleased with the experience. From the moment you step in, there’s a soft elegance in the air: wood tones, delicate lighting, and an understated charm that evokes a Parisian salon. It feels intimate without being fussy. The staff are warm and gracious attentive without hovering, friendly without being over the top. Now, about the pastries … oh, the pastries. Their croissants are nothing short of sublime: flaky, buttery, with that perfect internal honeycomb structure that signals great technique. (I’d wager many would call them the best in town.) I also tried a light and tender pear cake and a silky flat white every bite and sip feels intentional, carefully crafted. (One visitor even raved: “everything was outstanding” when they sampled a croissant, pear cake, and flat white) What I also admire is how they balance the familiar with the inventive. Alongside classic viennoiserie staples, you’ll find delightful twists savory éclairs, herb-infused pastries, rotating seasonal cakes. The menu changes enough to make each visit a little adventure. Lastly, as someone who likes to linger with my coffee while reading or working, I found Atelier Ariana refreshingly peaceful. Mornings there feel slow and pleasant, even in a city that rarely slows down. The staff’s kindness only adds to the sense of calm. (One person noted that they’d visited twice in a month already and that “the staff couldn’t have been sweeter.”) If you ever find yourself in Carroll Gardens or nearby in Brooklyn, do yourself a favor: visit Atelier Ariana. Whether for your morning pastry ritual or a mid-afternoon pause, it warms the spirit.
The best pastries period this side of Paris. Everything here is made at the level of excellence you would find in Paris. The quality of desserts, the innovative flavors and also the selections always have me finding favorites and something new. And the coffee is outstanding too. Very worthy of becoming your regular cafe.
Out of this world pastries - croissants are fab and so are the more speciality items. Staff is always so lovely and provides great recommendations to expand my horizons. The coffee is also top tier. It’s definitely worth going out of your way to visit if you’re in the general Carroll gardens/cobble hill/gowanus area. There’s a lot of solid places in the area but this is the standout gem among them !
A delightful addition to the neighborhood! While Carroll gardens is most known for the many Italian pastry shops, I always recommend people to go further down Smith street for an authentic touch of Paris! Ariana serves fresh croissants 🥐 and makes all her goods in house. When I have the chance to take time, I love grabbing a financier cake, having some tea, and reading a book! Being from a French household, it takes a lot for me to be impressed and Ariana takes the cake!
Ariana makes the best croissants and pastry in Brooklyn. Her classes are well organized and leave you walking away with knowledge and experience that leaves you feeling confidant. She’s amazing and her cafe is top 5 in Brooklyn. If you haven’t checked it out you should.

Quiet place that has delicious food. My personal favorite is the rose hibiscus iced tea, it has such a deep flavor and was not bitter. The croissants are so fresh and warm and you can taste the quality. 10/10

Very cute bakery. The products are freshly baked. It's a small bakery with some seating inside. There aren't a lot of baked goods but what they do have is of great quality. The prices are good. I had the Blood Orange Cake and it was 😋. The service is good. I would definitely go back
I had a latte and the most buttery delicious plain croissant. The bakery is small but has some seating. It’s also cool that there is a window behind the counter and you can see the kitchen and chefs baking!
