!! Almond latte and soy chorizo tofu scramble were to die for. Mario is a tofu master, straight up tastes like meat. The kitchen is on top of gluten free / celiac prep without cross contamination. The chill staff and decor make this spot feel like a second living room with way better eats. Did I mention the plants? 😍

GO FOR WEEKEND DINNER SERVICE! All vegan extremely high quality food for the price. We had the fried avocado starter, cauliflower parm, and berry cheesecake. So incredible.

This is a really good breakfast and lunch spot. The staff is so fun and welcoming. Their coffee is delicious and the lox toast with pickled onions? Simple irresistible.

Went for a weekday lunch with a friend and was pleasantly surprised at the tastiness of the sandwiches! The bread in particular (focaccia and ciabatta) were really tasty and fresh. I also got a strawberry basil lemonade that was killer, and an apple turnover that was very flaky and tasty (despite being vegan, as many of their pastries are.) I’ll be back!

They have a lot of vegan options available here! I wanted to try everything but this time all I tried were some of the vegan banana bread and an iced coffee. It was a nice cinnamon infused sweet banana bread. I loved it a lot and want to go back to try all of the other vegan desserts and pastries. I also want to try their vegan sandwiches. The staff were really friendly and it was busy because it has such a good atmosphere. I definitely will make my way back here to try more stuff!

Finally tried their food! I’ve had their delicious coffee several times now and always heard they have great vegan options. The tofu sandwich was great. My partner had an egg and cheese which he said was delish. Super cute inside.

Excellent neighborhood cafe with amazing vegan options. Though I am not vegan, I find their food and pastries (The vegan oreo cupcake is my favorite) to be quite delicious. The staff is friendly and the service is great. I highly recommend!

My favorite coffee spot in the neighborhood! Great espresso and non-coffee drinks. They never judge my picky order! They have amazing pastries, some of which are vegan! Also dope sandwiches! Enough indoor and outdoor seating to wait for your order, eat, or work for a bit. Everyone who works there is nice! Go here!

Fantastic coffee shop with some of the best cakes and pastries in Brooklyn. I come here frequently and the beverages and cakes are all great (try the vegan carrot cake and the chai latte! Some of my favorite). The staff is super friendly and the plants and decoration make this place ideal to come in, relax and put in a couple of hours of work/study.

Chez Alex is one of my favorite local eateries! Two years ago I was introduced to them because of their chocolate cake.... it’s no joking matter it’s so good. Flash forward to now, I have tons of respect for this business and continue to be amazed by their delicious menu. Today I enjoyed a strawberry basil lemonade, a perfect homage to the warm season fleeting away. I also got the Goldie Lox Sandwich. Exquisite crispy focaccia, mustard, avocado, lox, and a hard boiled egg. Solid sandwich and look at how happy looking the egg is because of the yellow dye! Let’s talk COVID safety - there are two tables outside and a bench on the other side of the door. Bathroom is available for customers. Service is excellent and our food came quickly. I hope you visit Chez Alex today 💙💛

Delicious/healthy sandwiches, pastries and coffee with a great staff in a cozy + welcoming environment. Personal highlights are the ziggy melt, pretty much any of the bowls and the Bundt cake pastries

What a great spot with a lots of excellent choices, be it breakfast, lunch, coffee or a snack. Seldom have we found such delicious vegan pastries (the brownie is AMAZING!) and all 4 of loved our varied breakfast choices. The only hard part is scoring a table, but take-out is still a worthy choice to be able to try all the goodies.

I’ve been going here for a year now and it’s my favorite cafe in Brooklyn. Their coffee is always top tier, the salmon toast might be my favorite breakfast in New York, the greenery and decor and music are always good. Also, I’m not vegan, but they have the best pastries, most of which are vegan. Just a phenomenal spot.

Used to go to this place all the time when I lived in the neighborhood. They have a great vegan selection which isn’t always my favorite but glad there’s options. Their non vegan pastries are always great, super fresh. I always kept coming back for the sandwiches. The cauliflower sandwich is so delicious I think about it all the time. I’m not doing it justice in the photo. The bread is tough sometimes as some other reviews say but most of the time really brings the whole thing together in a delicious way. The coffee is good and they have nice seasonal syrup flavors, but the food really is the best part..

The Seitan Rising (vegan) breakfast sandwich is great and does the job in keeping you satisfied. Definitely recommend if you want a hearty breakfast option without feeling too greasy afterwards! I also love the cafe for its atmosphere - it's hip with eclectic artwork and plants, while also being a great place to study, since it has free wifi, some outlets, and a bathroom. Main drawback is the limited seating (it's a tiny space)!

I’m not normally one to write a bad review and this is a place I’ve frequented a lot always been treated well and had consistently great food. I hadn’t visited in about a year but was looking forward to the power bowl which was always perfection but I was given old stale food. The bowl was missing pickeled cabbage as well as avocado. The brussels were brown and chickpeas were hard, old and dry. Not sure if it’s an off day but def a disappointing plate. Pic below of the bowl before and today’s bowl

I ordered a “Breakfast Rice” and they gave me a “Breakfast Bowl.” When I told them they got my order wrong they told me I had to re-order and pay AGAIN for the “Breakfast Rice.” They wouldn’t even consider the possibility that they may have heard the order wrong. I didn’t receive what I ordered and they were rude about it. First off, I’m a regular and the meal I wanted is the only thing I get on their breakfast menu, so I know it well. When I placed my order, the barista seemed confused about the protein I wanted. I didn’t make any substitutions on the meal either (they don’t allow that). I also remember thinking the meal was higher than I normally pay. I brushed it off anyway. I was thinking maybe they increased the prices, but it was because it wasn’t the right meal. I didn’t realize it until I received the meal. When I confronted them about it, I was told to order and pay for the meal I wanted. I paid for it, because I didn’t have the time to argue. People were also waiting to order their food. In food service, it is so easy to mess up an order. It happens all the time, in so many ways. I was sure of what I order, but the barista told me she heard something else. Exactly! YOU heard something else, because “Breakfast Bowl” and “Breakfast Rice” sound so similar with all the noise in the background. The chances that you heard incorrectly is very likely and there was no accountability. Her tone and attitude is so bad for customer service. I was so excited about this cafe but I’m finding it difficult to go back to it.

Got a sandwich that came with avocado and it had kind of stale bread and sabra guacamole for $14 instead. So many better places to buy vegan food and be around transplants I promise

Instead, the first thing I heard was that I could not be inside with my small dog. I explained I just wanted to get something to go, but they still told me to leave my dog outside. That is not something I am willing to do, so I walked right back out. I understand some places have rules about pets, but the way it was handled felt unwelcoming and abrupt. A simple greeting before anything else would go a long way. Anywhere that treats customers and their pets this way will not be getting my business.
