Love Kestane Kebab! It’s a go-to spot for lunch and dinner in Greenpoint. Lamb gyro is fantastic! We love the service and staff are so kind. Could not recommend more for Turkish food in NYC.
Really great spot. Solid healthy food. Family run with care.
Everything was so delicious. The best Turkish food in NYC. Highly recommend Adana kebap!
Great neighborhood spot with delicious food. Owners are very friendly. Would recommend!
Excellent food and super cool owner. I loved the kebabs and lamb chops. All the cold appetizers were great especially the eggplant and tomato sauce ❤️❤️
This was my favorite spot when I loved on the other side of Greenpoint and then somehow with my luck they came to the north side after I moved here. The food and staff at Kestane Kebab are incredible. Whether it be the kebabs, salads, soups or deserts, I have tried mostly everything at some point and they all hit the spot. The sides (i.e. hummus and baba ganoush) are also amazing. Really excited to have such a great Turkish restaurant in this great neighborhood!
This place is amazing, I've been dozens of times and tried lots of different things and everything is exceptional. Particular standouts for me are the Dolmas, Adana Kebab and Kofte Kebab. Also, it's really good value for the quality of the food!
Fresh and well prepared Turkish food ! A wonderful Turkish couple who are both the owners and the operators of this wonderful hidden gem.. You won’t regret this..awesome and affordable Turkish cuisine right here In Greenpoint..
The best Turkish food outside of Istanbul! The owner is incredibly sweet. The food is so delicious you'll dream about it and also very affordable!!! In GO? Amazing! We ordered the stuffed grape leaves, eggplant salad (so good), and my favorite, the Cheese pastry roll (you can request Spinach cheese mix!). The lamb shish was so good and the lamb Adana is out of this world! Honestly the best meal I've had in ages. See you!!! Maybe tomorrow 😉
Love this place. I get take out from here pretty frequently. Great, fresh food and friendly service. Super convenient and great value. Baklava is excellent!
We love Kestane Kebab!!! It is one of our favorite neighborhood spots for lunch or dinner. They have great outdoor seating options and a wonderful atmosphere. The food is amazing, authentic and affordable. It’s the best Turkish food we’ve had in NYC!!!
Best Middle Eastern in the neighborhood. Long time customer. They changed locations a couple of years ago (or more) Food still good. Favorites: baba ghanoush , haydari, and grape leaves for apps. Adana Kabab might be my fave. We usually get the mixed grill for the main. Definitely enough for 2 (maybe 3) with a bit leftover. Slightly pricey but excellent quality.
Wonderful local spot to get some really good lamb gyro over rice. No frills kind of spot. The food is just so warm and delicious in my belly!
I love Kestane Kebab. The restaurant is around the corner from my apartment and they have the BEST Turkish food in the neighborhood. The owners are lovely and the location is perfect. A great corner terrasse to eat in the sun in the spring and summer, and the best and most affordable food in the neighborhood. A must!!
I like this place and I can get my lil Turkish food fix. I almost always get Adana Kebab sandwich and the sütlaç (Turkish rice pudding with toasted top), pronounced soot-latch. Get it for dessert and it will make you happy. It's not a fancy place at all, but I'm aways happy with my order, so I give it a five for a casual sandwich shop... they deserve better than 4.2 rating.
A truly excellent kebab place. Everything was absolutely delicious, from the lamb/chicken gyro to the babagaboush. The highlight though was the Kunefe which was probably the best thing I ate all month.
Would HIGHLY reccomend kestane kebab for all your Mediterranean cravings. Not only was the food truly incredible (between 2 of us we split the large vegetarian platter, and every single sampler was delicious) but honestly the outdoor seating space was lovely, the plates and serving ware were beautifully authentic (Turkish), and as you can see from the photo below, the restaurant staff ties the whole experience together brilliantly.
The food here tastes homemade and full of flavor. My favorite is the lamb gyro platter and also the baked bread is the best. We frequent this place a lot, love how casual and affordable it is. Owners are so nice too!
We have tried all the things of menu and we love everything. Big and tasteful portions. It’s a must if you want to eat Turkish cuisine
Definitely the best Turkish / Mediterranean restaurant I’ve tried in Brooklyn. I usually get the lamb and chicken gyro combo platter, but the falafel, stuffed cabbage, and lentil soup are great, too. The owners are super nice, and they even let me host a large group dinner here once with reasonable pricing and corkage fees. Their food tastes clean and keeps well for leftovers.
Great food! The chicken and lamb Gyro platter was really good. The Baklava was good, although prefer them less sweet. Note its a mínimum of $20 for credit card, so bring cash if you just want a gyro wrap or a small plate (large was a bit more than I needed honestly, although small might have been too small)
Ezgi and her husband running the show. So kind and sweet. The food is delicious, def recommend !
The food is clean, fresh and delicious. The place is so pretty and the owner and his wife are so nice. My favorite in all Greenpoint
Went here on a Sunday night for a wick dine-in bite. It is a small cozy space, and busy. The good news is the food was fantastic. The best hummus I’ve had in a while. And the service was great. My favorite part was the ambiance it reminded me of being in Spain and it was a great experience.
Great placez not over priced and the food was amazing. It's also halal which was a nice surprise since halal tends to he more pricey in the city. The portions are very generous and the staff was very nice
Great food, great atmosphere. One of our favorite places in the neighborhood!
The food at this place was absolutely amazing! But the food wasn't even the best part, it was actually the service. You can tell these people love what they do. Definitely will recommend all of my friends to go here!
I live in the neighborhood and order from here regularly. They have the best lentil soup I've ever tried and their falafel pita is consistently fresh and delicious. I usually order from seamless but I've been inside for pick up a few times as well - the man at the front has always been friendly and my order is always ready on time. Highly recommend!
Fantastic midweek dinner spot. Had the Turkish wine, lamb chops, and stuffed cabbage, and everything was juicy and perfectly seasoned. The sesame flatbread that's served at each table comes piping hot and is one of my favorite things to eat in this neighborhood. Also, 10 dollar glass of wine? Yes, phrase. Everything was a home run.
Best chicken soup ever! The staff is kind and attentive. Been coming here since they were on Nassau. This new spot is great! Aesthetics are amazing. Hope to see more people enjoying their space because it really looks great. And the food is of course delicious, that’s a given.
The best gyro in town! Gyro is my favorite, Very friendly owner and stuff. I love the appetizers too, especially the stuffed cabbage and house made baklava. Highly recommend!
A Greenpoint restaurant that deserves more attention in a neighborhood that already has so many good places to eat. The food is delicious, but my go-tos are the lamb and chicken adanas, the beet salad, lentil soup, manti, and the baked eggplant. The quality is consistent every single time. Don’t let the old school decoration keep you away.
The food here is excellent. Very flavorful and reasonably priced. Our favorite part was the spinach rolls. The dining room is very pleasant and welcoming. Definitely will not be the last time we eat here.
A true hidden gem of Greenpoint. Great for a quick shawarma to-go or to sit for a nice meal. Love the baked eggplant, the adana combo with lamb and chicken, or any of the small mezze plates, especially the beet salad. One of my favorite chill neighborhood restaurants
Best food we’ve had in a long time. Fresh ingredients, delicious preparation and delightful service. The salads, falafel, and shish kebab did not disappoint. Highly recommend!
I live around the corner and this is the restaurant I frequent the most. Delicious, fresh, healthy food for really affordable prices. My favourite dish is the Chicken Shish Kebab :)
OMG! Where can I start 🤔....well it started when my brother suggested Turkish food for lunch and mentioned this small place in Greenpoint and the rest is history! I am so hooked that I was there for Mother's day and returned the following day with my son! Please do try the Stuffed Cabbage with ground lamb. Made just right, if not better and not dense at all. Service and quality of food surpasses other restaurants in the area. You will not regret your visit .
Kestane Kebab has been serving Greenpoint for over 10 years. Moved from Nassau Ave to Franklin. To sum up in one word Prestine 🤓 Have to try Lentil soup and all their Kebab so delicious. I find myself going back every week at least once. Staff is amazing and super friendly you feel like you are having a meal at home. They also started to serve full bar + wine and beer. Try Turkish beer Efes light and perfect for the summer. Highly recommen this place. 👍🏼Jan was super hospitable! Will be back for sure.
The food was absolutely amazing , I enjoyed the customer service and how attentive they are with customers. Today I went by myself for lunch to really see what they were about and they shocked me with the Lamb Gyro. On top of this the chef made conversation with me and made me feel welcomed! The must try is definitely the baklava which comes out fresh and the Turkish Coffee!
When in need of tasty Turkish food, Kestane kebab has been quite a consistent place and one you should visit. Always fresh and meats grilled upon ordering, I’ve never left dissatisfied. They were in a much smaller location on a tight street, this place is a major upgrade! Love the look guys…
Just grabbed some lunch. I liked how vinegary and salty the tabouli was and appreciated getting the yummy seasoned pita with the lentil soup.
This is my absolute favorite Turkish restaurant in Brooklyn. The food is always fantastic and delicious no matter what I order. I am always delighted with my meal! Atmosphere is chill and cool. The staff is really friendly, happy and polite. I recommend it to everyone! I would like to come back here again and again. Can’t wait to return.
I love this place. The first time I ate their food I had it delivered. I'm so happy I walked in this time. LOVE IT: Chicken is tender and flavorful. Hummus is yummy. Like being transported to another place. Super cozy and warm. Accommodated my slight alteration request. Big family table.
I ordered mix döner(gyro) platter multiple times. We loved it. Meat and the rice taste fantastic along with the homemade bread. Portion is big and very satisfying. I would %100 recommend it to everyone.
Food is fresh and Amazing you will not regret it!🙏🏽
Delicious, satisfying, casual. Kofte kebab with hummus and beet salad is a perfect meal for two. Family atmosphere, casual and relaxing. Great place.
We order from Kestane Kebab regularly and it's always solid. Today we went in person and had the lentil soup and the grilled branzino. Both dishes were amazing!
I LOVE THIS PLACE - THE VERY BEST SALADS!! I HAVE BEEN ORDERING FROM HERE FOR OVER 10 YEARS AT THIS POINT - I LOVE LOVE LOVE THEM!!!
Had a chance to finally try Kestane today. Was on my way to Taquiera Rameriz but I decided to drop in instead. I'm so happy I did because the gyro tasted so good, everything tasted fresh! Very good price as well as I paid $22 bucks for 2 gyro. Also, the gentleman taking my order was such a nice guy. Reminded me of all the grandpas I met traveling.
Have only tried a mezze plate to go so I’d have something for guests but it was quite good. The flavors were excellent and everything was well done (hummus, beet salad, Tzatziki, tabuli and bulgar salad). Fluffier than average pita (maybe Turkish) probably wasn’t the freshest I’ve had but it was still good. On the whole off to a very promising start with this local spot. I spotted some lamb and chicken gyro so I’ll try those next.
We order from Kestane quite often. Everything we've ordered from there has been delicious. Some of our favorites are the sautéed liver cubes on the appetizer menu. The brwad they serve is always fresh out of the oven. The lentil soup is arguably the best in the city! The mixed grill is absolutely delicious and is plenty of food for two. Please order some food from them. You wont regret it!
The sleeper hit of greenpoint! I have lived here for years and had not stopped in until a friend told me about their amazing red lentil soup (it is in fact amazing!). We have now started trying everything within our pescitarian diet restrictions on the menu. The salmon kebabs and falafel wrap are our favorite! Just wanted to spread the good word!
came here on a saturday evening when they were mostly empty, and it was fantastic! the food is so fresh, the hummus perfect, and the pita bread so soft and fluffy. the meat was well seasoned and succulent. very well balanced with rice, greens, and protein! not greasy and super filling! great ingredients, would def come back or even get some takeout! would recommend
I love the food here and supporting small business owners who are in the restaurant almost everyday. I try not to eat out / get takeout as much but I’ll always come here when I don’t feel like cooking. I especially love the Turkish bread, dips, chicken salad, and lentil soup but everything on the menu is great. It’s also very cute inside, don’t overlook this gem.
A wide variety of vegan mezzes. Had more options than most Turkish restaurants. It was nice to enjoy the mixed 8 mezzes with their homemade Turkish bread. The only surprising thing and a letdown was they used sugar for the eggplant with tomato (uncommon). We asked for ensuring the food was sugar free given medical/dietary restrictions so that caught us off guard and my husband had a minor reaction to the sugar. The lentil soup was nicely spiced and delicious. The eggplant main course was delicious. Definitely would come back to try other dishes.
I came here for the lunch and it is a very cozy and authentic well designed Turkish Restaurant. As a starter i’ve tried Chicken soup with vegetables and loved it. As main course chicken shish kebab also so delicious, juicy and well cooked. Also they’ve got different choices of Turkish Wine, Turkish beer and Raki. The owner was also very friendly.
Kestane is a cozy and comfortable place to dine. The owner Nick was attentive and gave a great suggestions when we couldn’t decide on certain dishes. And the food was surprisingly delicious and flavorful. Definitely will be our regular place! We ordered the small (5 kinds) mix vegetarian cold appetizers. The spicy vegetables dip was especially good. Their babaganoush has perfect creamy and not so smoky flavor. Sometimes I find babaganoush at other places is too smoky but what they have here was subtle and delicious! After trying 5 different cold appetizers, I believe that their other ones will be worth trying. They all came with piping hot handmade bread. So good! We also ordered one lamb shish kebab and one chicken kebab plate. The portion was generous. The baby lamb cubes were well-marinated, and grilled to perfection! We finished our meal with turkey coffee, tea, and their rice pudding and custard. What a tasty way to end our meal there! This is a must try place!!!
I was looking for a place to get Turkish food and found this on the map, the food is amazing! Everything was cooked well and the taste was great. Price was very reasonable and the staff is very friendly! If you’re looking for a nice place to get lunch, don’t hesitate to give this place a try!
Went to this place last night and food was awesome! I had the chicken chops and were grilled to perfection! Also had the eggplant salad …all were amazing. The service was great, too given we were there a little late in the evening. Definitely be going back here! I came back here and had the pleasure of meeting the owners. They were so kind and friendly and chatted with us. She even shared a special dessert she made for her and her husband. I encourage everyone to pay a visit here, you will not be disappointed!
This is my third time coming here and I get the lamb Kabab every time. It is so good!! It’s the perfect mix. This time I also tried the lentil soup and omg wow. I’m not a soup person at alllll but this one is absolutely my favorite. Great service, affordable prices and good people. Jan makes the visit really nice too! If you’re thinking about going, GO! You won’t regret it. :)
Used to be our goto Ramen spot for lunch. Didn't realize someone else opened in the space. I tried the lamb gyro on pita which was good. My coworkers ate the chic. gyro platter and loved it. One of my coworkers was very excited because he could eat there with his strict dietary needs.
Very good! I got takeout. From the outside, it seems like a regular quiet place but the food is surprisingly great. Fresh, soft, baked bread.
I was in a mood for Turkish food but I don't have time to go out to eat during weekday, so I ordered for delivery. I ordered Mixed Grill: Medium Lamb Gyro, Shepherd Salad, Mushroom Salad. it is good verities of meat. Adana Kebab small size but it is pretty good potion. Falafel Appetizer, Arugula Salad, Rice Pudding and Baklava. Delivery came on time and order was correct.
We were really in the mood for Adana Kebab and this place did justice. We also ordered the chicken shish + lamb gyro combo (politely asked if it was possible, and they were fine with it) and a mixed meze appetizer. I found the Adana kebab to be great. At some points a bit meatball-ish, but maybe some extra spices would do the trick. Would still come back & get this again. Lamb gyro was on the drier side, wouldn’t recommend. Chicken shish was delicious and very, very tender. we both thought this was the best meat option of our order. Mixed meze was good, although they don’t let you add tzatziki to it, so I would suggest ordering it on its own. The grape leaves, eggplant salad, and whatever spicy one in the top left of my photo were A1! Perfect for the free bread. The white sauce they supply with the dishes is just bad. It tastes like watered down mayo with maybe some dried herb. It’s not good. Their hot sauce / spicy sauce was very mid.
Chicken Chops - 9/10 Chicken Adana - 8/10 Lamb Shawarma - 9/10 Mushroom salad - 7/10 Atmosphere - 9/10 Service - 6/10 Great place to take family and friends. I enjoyed the food. Mushroom salad was something different. A lot of lemon in it made it a bit sour but it was ok. I like that they cook the lamb shawarma a bit well done. Chicken chops were giant and tender. Chicken adana was full of flavor. Eat everything hot 🔥 and it will taste really good. You can make your own food combinations. The waitors won't do it but the chef will. Service was not so great for me. Once the waitor served the food, he never came back again.
Ordered two chicken kebabs and one humus in person .. got one chicken and two humus when I looked in the bag at home. Funny thing is no customers were there so I don’t know how my order got messed up. Doesn’t matter, not going back or ordering again.
I ordered delivery and got the chicken kebab platter. It was pretty standard. The chicken was juicy and the rice a bit soggy. The salad wasn't bad and the portions were large. Probably wouldn't do it again given the other options in the area.
Maybe it was an off day but the Adana kebab wrap was not good at all and the service was pretty cold/rude. Made me feel like i was bothering them by ordering (while the whole place was empty). Won’t be back.
The food was very delicious. The food I ordered to the Hotel, they forgot the forks and the napkins, so i had to go outside of my hotel just to find the forks, napkins was not a problem I washed my hand. And how can you forget the forks????? How am I supposed to eat my food ?? Thanks for being really busy and forgetting about my orders.
Honestly one of the worst gyros I’ve had. The staff wasn’t friendly and I saw them throw the pita bread on the counter near the register and that looked fairly unsanitary. The gyro itself didn’t have any sauce - they give you a tiny thing of hot sauce and cucumber sauce (which should already be on it). Anyway, wouldn’t recommend this place. They also have a $12 minimum on cards which is kind of annoying.
I ordered food and they gave me the completely wrong order. I also found a hair in my food possibly belonging to a worker. Workers there don’t wash there hands before or after making food. I wouldn’t recommend this place for anyone who wants good authentic Mediterranean food. I’d recommend that they go to Dar 525 which is on driggs avenue for a good Mediterranean cuisine. Kestane Kebab is a terrible restaurant and is very overpriced. AGAIN I HIGHLY RECOMMEND YOU DO NOT EAT HERE.
Rude staff they don’t even know to say a basic ‘thanks’, ordered baklava pistachio they gave me walnuts, allergic tho. Not gonna sue them but definitely never go there again. Hospitality means to make your customers feel good, not just to throw the food on them.
Rude workers. They never said hi or showed me a place to sit or brought a menu or asked how I’m doing. I even had to go to the cashier for telling them I want to pay. Totally self service. Chicken soup has more potato than chicken and very salty.
Extremely rude people at this business, racist and homophobic. Walked in to check out their menu and possibly buy something and my husband and I got screamed and then tried to follow us out while continuing to yell at us. My husband got permission to use the restroom and then someone else who work there began to try to get him out as he was inside, then began calling him offensive names for gay people so we left, then got reprimanded because we didn’t want to spend money.
I went looking at good reviews. I ordered lamb shish kebab, firstly they assumed it is togo and not dine in. Secondly, the lamb was way undercooked and lot chewy. I don’t know if they did this on purpose.
I made an order from here for the first (and last) timr. First of all food is ridiculously overpriced. I paid $6.50 for a small peace of chicken adana kebab (you can see on the picture). Mucver plate (zucchini pancakes) were burned outside and raw inside. I found someone's hair in the salad. Very very bad experience!
The attached photo is the chicken from my lunch sandwich today. I genuinely do not understand how you can disrespect your customers and your own establishment to serve burned food like that. Do you think the customer would not notice that chicken is COMPLETELY burned? Or do you think it is ok to serve burned food to clients? Bad decision regardless. You need the customer to come back, but who would come back for more burned chicken? Very disappointed.
Very very very disappointed with the way i was treated, the lady that works there is the most rudest human being i've ever met if i could save you the trip don't ever come here i rather have good service with good food not good food with TERRIBLE SERVICE. On top of that she claims to be the owner. Idk what owner treats a paying customer this way. never never never again. if i i could rate negative stars i would
