Perguntas frequentes sobre Mazzola Bakery
Avaliações de Mazzola Bakery Brooklyn
Lard bread was super unique, essentially a self contained cold cut sandwich with bits of cold cut baked into the bread. It’s heavy and hearty, probably was a favorite of the dock workers who lived / worked in the area a century ago. Rainbow cookies were also solid, soft chewiness and nice sweetness from the jelly but could have had a crisper bite on the chocolate
Awesome bakery everything is freshly made.Prosciutto bread is yummy 😋 the best in NYC
Mazzola Bakery, a Brooklyn institution since 1928, remains the quintessential old-school Italian bakery in Carroll Gardens. Stepping inside, the air is thick with the intoxicating aroma of yeast, coffee, and savory meats. Their legendary Lard Bread is the undisputed star: a golden-crusted, pillowy-soft loaf that's less a bread and more a savory feast. Studded with generous nuggets of Genoa salami, sharp provolone, and a double punch of black pepper, the subtle lard in the dough gives it a unique richness and tenderness you won't find anywhere else. On the sweet side, their classic Italian cookies, particularly the Raspberry Chocolate Cookies—with their perfect blend of sweet jam and a hint of cocoa—are a must-try. While service can sometimes be brisk, the quality and authenticity are unmatched, drawing a loyal following from across the city. Mazzola is more than a bakery; it's a living piece of Brooklyn history and the gold standard for Italian baked goods.
Mazzola has my favorite cinnamon roll in the city! They didn’t make it for a few years but they brought it back and I’ve been buying one almost every. single. day. Please go buy and rave about the frosted cinnamon roll so they never stop baking it! If you warm it in the oven for a few minutes it becomes gooey and gorgeous. Just leave one for me, okay?
A pair of jeans that fits just right. A friend who picks up the phone no matter the hour. The house you grew up in. All of these embody the feeling of mazzola bakery, a neighborhood staple that is always there with the essentials. Morning coffee and carbs, and then some.
We’ve been going to this place for years, my family left New York 26 years ago so we only can get stuff from here when we’re visiting family and it is SO WORTH IT! The lard bread is absolutely to die for, but you gotta be fast! Once they’re out for the day they are out.
This is my usual morning coffee and pizza slice place. (They bake bread, so they know what they're doing when it cimes to pizza!) The people who work there are friendly and quick. Sometimes I hang with the "old school" crowd outside when they let me. 😉 You should go here! [Cash only, but there is an ATM near the door.]
I was in town on business and had plans to get some Local lard bread. Mazzola was 10 minutes away, I bought three fresh warm loaves and freshly baked chocolate chip cookies. The size of my hand. Great corner location But parking is horrendous if you drive had to park four blocks away, but was well worth it.
It’s rare to find an older guard Carroll Gardens business that’s still going strong despite all of the changes in the neighborhood. Always a great place to pick up fresh bread and pastries. The best, or my favorite, item on their menu is their cinnamon roll. No frosting, not too sweet and perfectly soft, fresh from their oven.
I’ve lived in the neighborhood for 10 years and just tried Mazzola for the first time… it kills me to think of all the lard bread, pretzels, and other baked goods I’ve missed out on over the years. Everything I tried was fresh and delicious and the prices are very reasonable. Josefine is friendly and informative. This bakery will be a staple going forward🤍
I needed to get enough pastries for 30 people. I stumbled across Mazzola Bakery and they did not disappoint. I got a large selection of various pastries, all fresh and made there. The photo shoot I was working for rejoiced when we set the boxes out, and everyone loved it. The original bakery I had planned wound up being closed that day, so the fact I was able to walk in and order $150 worth of pastries and have no issues was very comforting. Thank you!!
Everything is so fresh and delicious. Hands down the best prosciutto bread and sfogliatelle you may ever experience. They now have provolone bread as well which is my new favorite. Worth the trip and effort to park especially at holidays. The prosciutto bread won’t make it home, you will eat it in the car.
Oo it’s GOOD. Old-school, Italian Bakery with a great crowd of locals and regulars. It’s cash-only with an ATM right outside the door. No space inside for eating, but it’s more grab-n-go or there’s a bench outside. Didn’t get to try the bread, but their scones are HUGE and their chocolate croissant (I couldn’t resist already eating half, whoops) had the BEST layers of flaky pastry! That’s where I really fell in love; very very impressed by the layers of flaky pastry dough they balanced with just the right amount of sweet. Wish I had bought more! Great prices for quality of food.
I come here often for their lard bread. Cash only. Their coffee is pretty ay-okay. Olive bread is not bad but lard bread definitely outshines it. Also had their pastries for breakfast which was good. Their pizza is not bad for a quick snack. Overall, come here for the lard bread!
Small Bakery with amazing Lard Bread. This is a lovely neighborhood bakery. The service is wonderful. They have a nice selection of pastries and they also have Pizza. The prices are very reasonable. I came specifically for the Lard Bread but I would definitely come back to try other items.
The key lime pie doesn’t even have key lime flavor. It tasted like there was 1 key lime for every cake batch. The best odds normally pretty good, but this key lime of so ridiculously under done. I felt like the key lime was an after thought to the key lime pie.
Amazing bakery! Everything is fresh and delicious as always. I feel like the only thing missing is the customer service. There’s about 2-3 staff that are great.. I cannot say the same for the rest. Extremely unwelcoming, cold and negative. This has been constant for years with the same crew. This is one reason my family and I don’t stop by like we used to. Other than that, keep up the great work! Best bakery in the borough.
Poor customer service at the front. I walked in and waited in line to place my order. When it was finally my turn after waiting, the girl with the green apron came to the front and asked, “Who’s next?” Naturally, I assumed it was me. At that moment, another woman walked in through the door, cut in front of me, and tried to order before I did. I stated that I had already been waiting in line, and the front worker responded, “I don’t know, that’s between you guys.” Isn’t it the employee’s responsibility to manage the line and ensure customers are served in the order they arrived?
