Great Wednesday night trivia! Definitely a challenge. A very chill vibe and a good place for a beer or cocktail
Good drinks, hot dogs, and atmosphere!
My buddy and I wanted to play some darts. We suck at darts. We walked into Moot and there was a league dart game going on. We instantly thought a couple of dart schlubs like us wouldn't be the most welcome on league night. We couldn't have been more wrong. Every single person in the bar was friendly and enthusiastic that more folks wanted to play darts. They let use the practice board with the house darts and we had a great time. This is exactly the type of neighborhood bar you want on every corner. Couldn't have been better!
The only issue was I couldn’t leave more than 5 stars, the place is very chill and the bartender JB has great customer service, hospitality, and bartending skills. The Dirty Pickle Martini was a big hit with my girlfriend.
i love this place. whenever i need a stop for the night i find myself here. the bartenders are friendly and charismatic, the drinks are cheap and the music is always good. with an amazing cast of characters you'll always have a good night here.
Moot is a great neighborhood bar. To me, the Wednesday trivia is perfectly calibrated by the host, Josh. The bartender, Chaz, has been there 10 years and is an efficient pro and a good guy to trade war stories with. A pint is $7-$8. What more do you want in a bar?
Classic bar atmosphere good music dope patrons they have darts! Amazing bartenders what are you waiting for
Fun spot off the beaten path for darts and casual drinks. Laid back vibe. Great mix of people from all walks of life. Regulars are friendly and welcoming.
Great dive bar! Amazing deals on drinks! They have darts and on some nights you even get free hot dogs with every drink jackpot!!!!! Haven't done trivia here yet but I'm sure it probably pretty good
The bartender, Ali, is by far the best thing about this place. She's amazing. She makes special ingredients for awesome bloody Mary's. And other stuff. The bar setting is okay. Beer options are also great though.
Fantastic vibe, great bartenders. We crashed the bar and asked for something to be put on TV and they were super accommodating. Great beer selection too. Its a perfect for any time of the day as well, because thats super important.
Trivia is dope on Wednesday nights, the beer is great all nights and the staff is engaging and super chill. If you want to go to the greatest dive bar ever come. If you don't like fun, go somewhere else.
Great Craft Drafts - a solid extension to their other bar Uncle Barry's. Intimate bar seating and lots of seating around the windows. They have a dart board! Great way to spend an evening catching up with someone - not too noisy.
Cool, low-key bar that my friends and I enjoyed! The bartender is the owner and he's super personable and loves what he does - that energy shines right through and we truly appreciated his kindhearted spirit!
Had to visit the original location of my favorite chilli dogs! Love those classic fries as well. Great snap to the dogs and the famous chilli recipe did not disappoint. Fries were on point as well. Very quiet because I went during the off-season, but it was a Birthday treat and did not disappoint! 😁
The first place we went after getting off the subway on our day trip to Coney Island was to the original Nathan's Famous restaurant on the corner of Stilwell St & Surf St, about 200 yards from the subway station. We had read about this famous restaurant, which began in 1916 as a nickel hot dog stand in Coney Island operated by Nathan Handwerker a Jewish-Polish immigrant, and wanted to try their famous hot dogs. There's a seafood section on the left hand side as you enter the long Surf St store front and a hot dog section on the right. I ordered the original hotdog with sautéed onions & a large pint of draft Brooklyn beer for my wife and a chilli dog with sautéed onions & extra jalapeños with 1/2 pint of the draft Coney Island Mermaid IPA beer for myself, at one of the self order kiosks. The kiosks only accepted credit card payments and I'm not sure if you could pay with cash. I choose the eating in option, paid $40 and waited for a server to call out my name to pick up my order from the counter. It wasn't busy on our visit so our food & drinks came out pretty quickly. Ketchup, mustard, napkins & plastic cutlery were provided on self service carts by the entrances to the store. After loading up on mustard & Ketchup on our hot dogs, we found a table in the large outdoor seating area, which had restrooms at the far end of it. The hot dogs were very tasty on fluffy, soft lightly toasted rolls & I particularly enjoyed the extra bit of heat & crunch provided by the fresh jalapeños on my hot dog. My wife's Brooklyn beer was a dark hoppy beer & my Coney Island Mermaid IPA beer was lighter & fruity. Both beers were refreshingly cold and perfectly accompanied our hot dogs. The hot dogs are fairly small so I went back to the counter and ordered 4 delicious chicken tender pieces (which were perfectly crunchy on the outside, tender & moist inside) accompanied by a fantastic honey mustard sauce, together with another Nathan's original hotdog to share, for $15. We really enjoyed our first experience of Nathan's Famous food and beers sitting outdoors in the hot late summer sun, near the sea👍 We passed another Nathan's store when we walked along the Boardwalk and just managed to resist our urges to have another of their delicious hotdogs 🤣
Come schlep to Coney Island so you can eat your hot dogs at the location where competitors guzzle endless dogs every July 4th. Stand in their shadows as you sample the seafood, hot dogs, and burgers offered at this Nathan’s. There’s seating beside the building should you prefer to consume your processed meats with some shade.
We visited twice while here. First time the young lady was NOT pleasant (K) and the second time actually next day.. we were blessed with a very kind young lady. She even asked if we wanted onions or sauerkraut. YES! We didnt know it was an option. It really makes your experience nicer when you get a friendly person. Best hotdogs ever! Their french fries are delicious!
After walking past this place many times on many trips I finally gave it a try back in February!!! Was pleasantly surprised! I got 2 hotdogs with onions and kraut, the hotdogs were better than the store bought ones….the casings weren’t as chewy and the toppings were flavorful. I also got lobster bisque…. Which I was very hesitant to order from a hotdog joint but I did and it was great! The atmosphere is what’s expected for a hotdog joint surrounded by amusements but was still ok, the staff was friendly as well…. I would come here again only if I’m out on Coney Island…. It’s a long trip out there by subway from Flushing!
I'm pretty thrilled to be adding Nathan's Famous Hot Dogs in Coney Island to my review list. The Hot Dogs were great and had some good snap to them. The chili dog was especially good and the Saurkraut dog did not disappoint. The "regular" size drink cost $4.99 which was a bit expensive and the hot dogs were $6 to $7 each. I would say it was a fair price to pay for a novelty experience.
First time here arrived at opening time on a Sunday 10 AM. Service was friendly and fast, 7 minutes from order time to getting food and it was hot! Pros: BATHROOMS large ( by out door seating) Lots of ordering stations Lots of outdoor seating Food is fast Prices reasonable Food taster better then expected. Huge menu Cons: Only outdoor seating. Highly recommend, for everyone who was casual tasty food.
I finally made it to this iconic spot, which has been around since 1916! The taste? Just as good as expected. The hot dogs were classic, but the shake was absolutely delicious. The atmosphere was fantastic—there’s something special about enjoying a meal in a place with such a long history. It felt amazing to take in the nostalgia while eating. Definitely a must-visit if you're in Coney Island!
Awesome place with great beer menu and a nice bartender.
Rey relaxed, laid back place. Dark and just the right amount of dirty. They have darts and TVs. They also give away free hot dogs on Tuesday nights. Trivia on Wednesdays. Have some cool old toys on a shelf and lots of coaster drawings that are fun to look at. Regular bartender is really great. Fun to talk to. Good neighborhood spot.
Fun little bar. Dim lite. Has so interesting cocktails. Can get a Miller High Life can and a shot of well liquor for $6. They've got trivia on Wednesday nights at 9PM. Hard to notice from the street bit look for the neon bar sign. Bartenders were nice. They have 2 televisions and a dart board.
The fast food restaurant is located in the Coney Island section of Brooklyn. This is the original location founded in 1916 by Nathan Handwerker. They currently have many locations in the U.S. and in other countries. Nathan's sells food products in various markets. I ordered the classic hot dog with mustard, sauerkraut and sautéed onions. It was well-prepared and enjoyable to eat. I also tried a chili dog which was something different. The french fries are the thick crinkle-cut style. The fish sandwich was the best fast food one I have tried. The price is more but you receive two generous pieces of fried fish filets that are very tasty. The spicy chicken sandwich is a new menu item that is a nice portion. The chocolate shake was very good and topped with a cherry. The restaurant appears clean and the interior updated.
This was our first visit to NYC. During a tour we went to Coney Island! We decided to try the original Nathan's! It was really good. My wife ordered a chili cheese hot dog. I got the chopped cheese hero! Both were really good! We shared some french fries! The fries were good but too thick for our taste!
One needs to experience this Nathan's location at least once in their lifetime. We lucked out and visited during a $0.05 hotdog day. They only charged us for the chili and cheese. While delicious, I wouldn't order the cheese-filled tots as they take quite a while to prepare apparently. We arrived at 11am and found plenty of seating and a short line. Overall great experience.
Great owner, and people. But the bartender who works Thursdays needs to get a new job. He is miserable to customers and can't handle the special rules situation gracefully, he should find something else to do.
I stopped by Nathan’s Famous in Coney Island since it’s such a well-known spot. The place has that classic boardwalk vibe, and it was fun to finally try their original hot dog. Honestly though, the hot dog itself was just okay—nothing particularly special to me. It was nice for the experience and the history behind it, but taste-wise, it didn’t really stand out, yet was quite pricy.
They used to have tables inside, but no more so we ate outside & it was freezing with the wind. Couldn't even take photos of all the food. Sodas were $4.99! We got 1 chicken sandwich, 1 chili dog, cheese fries, 1 red clam chowder, 1 white clam chowder, frog legs. All cost $88. Frog legs tasted like chicken.
I was looking forward to the food because is a very famous place in New York and even more this location in Coney Island. The Hotdog was hell salty—you can make a soup with that hotdog and still have salt left; we got the bacon one, I am not sure if is the sausage or the bacon the culprit. The corndog is boring like abandoned, not love at all, was oily like absorbed a glass of oil, maybe wait for oil to heat up before frying them. My stars goes for the potatoes of the fries, very smooth delicious (chili cheese fries). The chocolate shake didn’t taste like Ghirardelli, more like Hershey normal syrup chocolate🧐 the cream added extra sweet. Next time will just come for the fries. I really looked forward to it like even waiting 3 years to try this but is okay~ the potatoes saved the illusion haha
It's been a while since going to Nathan's Famous after moving away. Since it was a nice day to take a walk along the boardwalk, my family and I decided to stop for some lunch at Nathan's since no one except myself has had it before. Usually the lines are very long, but today was an exception. Walked right up to the counter, ordered our food, and received a $60+ bill for just 2 orders of fries, 2 hotdogs, 1 onion rings, 2 large drinks, and a seafood option..... $60..... That was disappointing for what we got, but we were doing this for a first time (and probably a last time) option. The hot dogs are much smaller than they used to be (you can go to Costco and get $1.50 hot dog for a bigger size.) Soda was watered down, cheese fries were meh, the fried shrimp with tartar sauce was alright, just not for the price and 4-5 pieces in a box. The outdoor seating is classic, but the birds like sitting on the tables, and a lot of dog owners also let their dogs sit on the table, you know, where you eat??? Seems like a DOH issue. Staff comes around sometimes to wipe it down, but just with a rag and some cleaning solution, and occasionally sweeping the garbage away to discourage the pigeons and seagulls, but the birds will still be nearby watching you eat and drop stuff. I feel Nathan's has lost his charm from what it used to be as I remembered it. It's only nostalgia bait at this point, but there's better options around Surf Ave so maybe check there first before Nathan's becomes a last resort for food like we did. Disappointing, you get better value at McDonald's.
The hot dogs were good but they didn't taste all that different from their store bought Nathan's hot dogs and the cookie was okay but not that good. The hot dog wasn't worth the price in my opinion but it was a nice Novelty. And they do have pretty good mustard and normal ketchup at the place with outdoor seating next to the amusement park.
The place was empty. I asked for a beer and received no service. An uninviting experience.
Being treated rudely by the bartender! I have been to this bar several times, it was good and the girl bartender was really nice to me. My friend and I went there last night, another male bartender that I didn’t know was in charge. Whenever I ask him something, he looked very very impatient and answered in a mean way, for example, “we don’t have food” “we dont have so many cocktails to choose” “ I can’t hear you. Why u can’t speak louder?”. Really really mean, and he asked for our ID, I offered images of my ID and it usually works for any bar or place that sell alcohol. He said it has to be physical ID, I said how about student ID. He said No, then kicked my friend and Me out. I’ve never been treated in such a rude way. Will never come back. The weird part is he talks to other person nicely, is that bc young folks didn’t deserve his manner? Idk why but last night is one of my worst experience in my life!

Nathan's: More Than Just a Dog in Coney Island
If you're ever making the trek out to Coney Island, beyond the rides and the ocean breeze, there's one culinary stop that's practically mandatory: Nathan's Famous. This isn't just any hot dog stand; it's the original, dating all the way back to 1916 when Nathan Handwerker, a Jewish-Polish immigrant, started serving nickel dogs. It’s a true slice of Brooklyn history, and it’s the very spot where the legendary July 4th hot dog eating contest happens.Stepping up to the iconic corner of Stilwell
