A must-try modern Chinese restaurant! Prices are pretty fair considering the consistent quality of food and service you get! All the staff are super attentive and courteous. The restaurant is designed luxuriously, giving welcoming and quality vibes. Inside is very spacious, and the bathroom downstairs is just amazingly clean and sleek. My favorite from the menu has to be the spicy rock shrimp, which never fails to disappoint. Spicy rock shrimp $14 (5/5) - You have to give this starter a try, as it’s a game-changer! There’s a nice kick of spice in the sauce, and is a good-sized portion. Scallion pancakes $7 (3.5/5) - good but a lot thinner than I expected. Personally I would have liked it to be doughier and chewier. BBQ Boneless Ribs, basically char siu $11 (5/5) - really enjoyed this one as the meat was juicy and saucy; the flavoring on the ribs are sweet and salty, and comes with some chopped cabbage underneath. Sizzling Crispy Duck $35 (5/5) - didn’t know what to expect as I never had this before. Came on a sizzling plate with lots of veggies under the duck, and ofc a bowl of rice. The skin is diff from Peking duck as the outer skin seems fried. Half Roasted Peking Duck $35 (3/5) - skin was really crispy, but it tasted a lil bland. Came with wraps, julienned cucumbers, hoisin sauce, and a bowl of rice.
Poped in for lunch the other day and was pleasantly surprised. The vibe and music selection brought me back to the 80s. Had some soup dumplings recommended by the bartender and definitely a must try. Looking forward to my next visit.
As a native Brooklyn New Yorker, I don’t give praise lightly — but Red Bowl truly impressed me on my very first visit. From the moment you walk in, the ambiance is inviting, clean, and thoughtfully put together. It feels modern yet comfortable, the kind of place you want to actually sit and enjoy your meal instead of rushing out. The food was outstanding — fresh, flavorful, and clearly made with care and quality ingredients. Every dish tasted elevated, balanced, and satisfying, not greasy or rushed like so many places. You can tell there’s pride behind what’s coming out of the kitchen. The service was equally top-notch: attentive, friendly, and genuinely welcoming without being overbearing. It’s rare to find a spot where the food and the service are both this solid. Red Bowl is a real gem in Bay Ridge. High quality, great atmosphere, and excellent service — I’ll absolutely be back and recommending it to friends and family. 👏🥢
I'm giving 4 for service only because we had take out, I'll update when we can find a sitter lol. We haven't physically been there, only take out, and it's never failed. Probably the best food and soups I have had in a while. The delivery was unbelievable, so much faster than anyone else around.
The flavors are bold and authentic — every dish tasted freshly made with quality ingredients. The fried dumplings were perfectly made , juicy inside with that handmade dough texture that’s hard to find these days. The crispy beef had the right balance of crispy and saucy, and the packed a deliciously spicy punch. The staff were friendly and attentive without being overbearing, and the food came out quickly even during the dinner rush. Prices are super reasonable for the quality and portions you get. Whether you’re craving a quick takeout meal or a cozy dine-in experience, this is easily one of the best Chinese restaurants in Brooklyn. Can’t wait to come back and try more from the menu!
Absolutely amazing! This place is next level - great portions, great food. I’ve been to some upscale Chinese restaurants and the service nor the food matched the pricing. Staff is very attentive and efficient. This place will exceed your expectations, try it out!
The atmosphere at Red Bowl was serene, setting the stage for a pleasant takeout experience. While I waited, I was graciously offered a glass of water, which I appreciated. I ordered the garlic eggplant, and it was wonderfully flavorful—clean, light, and infused with garlic's aromatic essence. I also inquired about the party menu, and JD kindly provided insightful information. My chicken corn soup was perfectly balanced, not heavy on corn starch, and simply delicious. I will certainly be back for more of their exceptional food.
My husband & I had a delicious dinner this evening at Red Bowl. Not only was the food fantastic & flavorful, but the service was also impeccable. I must mention our server Juan specifically. Not only was he so pleasant & polite, but he also went above & beyond with service. I’m so happy we have Red Bowl as a restaurant option in Bay Ridge. Looking forward to eating there again soon. Thank you Red Bowl‼️
This is such a nice hidden gem! It's very clean and beautiful on the inside, and the staff was really friendly. The food itself was affordable and delicious! I ordered the hot and sour soup and it was absolutely perfect. What's even more amazing though is the fried rice. You really would think that fried rice would just be what you would get at any other Chinese food restaurant but this rice was so amazingly compact with flavor. I literally have never had better fried rice. It's a must order if you go. I will definitely be back and next time with more people. 😀
I’ve never had a bad experience in this place since day one of coming here. Where to start , how to start? Don’t know if I want to start with the amazing personality of the owners and the family running the place, the top notch service when waiting to be seated and once seated or the…not just great taste, but, the excellent quality of the food. Yes, taste and quarter two different things and Red Bowls food has both rolled into one. So back to my original question…where to start, how to start. Well I just think I’m not going to write a review to them, I think you just need to experience Red Bowls owners and family amazing personalities, the top notch service and tasteful quality food for yourself. The truth is we love place everything about it, and, I’m glad that we eat there and became friendly with the owners
We went on Valentine’s Day without a reservation and still got a table after waiting for a while at the bar. All server were attentive and they all worked very hard. We got the Chong Qing Chicken, Lo Mein and Double cooked pork. Double cooked pork was one of the best dishes but I wished they put a little more meat in it. All the dishes came out hot, quick and savory! You wouldn’t want to miss out on this place in Bay Ridge!
I almost never go to Bay Ridge, but when I heard that this restaurant was good, I had to take a trip to try it for myself. It had a really great atmosphere, a bar upfront, and a lot of space to accommodate quite a few people. The food was great. I tried their Sesame Chicken and my girl; the crispy beef, which is very similar to the Sesame Chicken. Overall, the experience we had was good, we both liked the food, and the drinks were OK. The next time we visit, the bar would be the better option for sitting as it offers a better atmosphere for couples.
Took my mom to Red Bowl for a belated birthday dinner. First time for my mom, second time for me. Both times we had Eddie as a server. Besides the fact that the food is delicious, the service is outstanding. If you're looking for a delicious authentic relaxing Chinese food experience Red Bowl is the place to go. It never disappoints is worth every penny and make sure you ask for Eddie! Thank you Eddie for always making our experience amazing.
Loved our experience at red bowl. The service was top notch. Dishes were delicious. Especially liked the garlic soy sauce wings. Pictured: Garlic soy sauce wings Red bowl special wings Crab Rangoon Shrimp and chicken curry fried rice General Tso chicken Highly recommend going here. It seems they accommodate larger parties as well.
Last Friday night, my wife and I, along with another couple, had the pleasure of dining at Red Bowl, located on 3rd Avenue in Brooklyn. From the moment we arrived, we were warmly welcomed and even introduced to the owner, which underscored the family-oriented nature of the restaurant. Red Bowl offers an enticing blend of Chinese American cuisine. You have the option to choose between authentic Chinese dishes or more American-oriented ones. We sampled a variety of appetizers and main courses, all of which were delicious and well-presented. The service was exceptional, truly at an upper level. One highlight I must mention is their impressive bar selection. As a whiskey lover, I was thrilled to find a diverse array of options, including Scotch whiskey, Japanese whiskey, and American classic Bourbon. We arrived around 7:00 p.m. and before we knew it, it was 11:00 p.m., a testament to the great time we had. The combination of good food, a pleasant ambiance, and friendly people made our evening memorable. Thank you very much to the staff for the wonderful service. I highly recommend Red Bowl to anyone who loves Chinese food. Give it a try—you won't be disappointed!
We were one of the very few Asian diners in the entire restaurant — including the staff — which already gave us a sense that this wasn’t your typical Chinese spot. It definitely didn’t have the feel or energy of a classic Chinese restaurant. The crispy beef was solid, but nothing that stood out — about on par with what you’d get at Joe’s Shanghai. The pan-fried seafood noodles were also decent, though the squid had a noticeably fishy taste. Given the location being so close to Sunset Park, it’s hard to justify coming here over the many great local Chinatown spots nearby. The lack of Asian diners probably speaks for itself.
The decor is nice, it's the kind of Chinese restaurant where the dine-in customers are mostly white people. The high ratings are understandable, but the food is just average. If you like American Chinese food, this place works.
Beautiful place but I ordered the cashew chicken and got all the worst parts of the chicken. Dark meat and ligaments. Easy to cover up with that brown sauce. Lost my appetite after that.
Tried Red Bowl and ordered the Chicken with Broccoli. It was fine, but honestly pretty average. The chicken was tender enough and the broccoli was cooked well, but the flavor was pretty standard — the kind of Chinese takeout taste you can get almost anywhere in the U.S. Nothing was bad, but nothing really stood out either. If you’re craving classic takeout comfort food, it’ll do the job, but I was hoping for something a little more memorable based on the reviews. I’d still be open to coming back and trying some of their other dishes, especially their more specialty items, but the Chicken with Broccoli was just okay.
First time dine in to this restaurant for Lunar New Year with my sister's family and my own family food was kind of disappoint mostly salty for me and the roast peking duck was so no taste at all the rest of the foods were salty for me overall the whole dinner I don't enjoy only things I like was the services was awesome and the environment I like it. Especially, Those waiter was nice kept asking us how the foods every ok kept changing our plates and refill our waters. The foods coming out were fast cause the lady in the front I also disappointed she already told me limited of eating the whole dinner 2 hours who brought us to the table first thing she said that to me I am not seating down yet she already said me cause we had alot of reserved this already ruined my dinner appetited. Anyhow, This is a family gathering lunar new year dinner. Overall, Alll I like those waiters were awesome service that kept greeting when we leave the restaurant plus I believed one of the guy was the manager greeting to us when we leave and we come into the restaurant.
Be prepared to get really Small portions. For double the cost of other Chinese restaurants. Ordered General Tsos chicken- barely any chicken pieces & it was so thickly coated in batter I didn’t see or taste chicken. I cut each piece and just see batter. AND no broccoli- it’s with green peppers. Not going back here. I’m going to NEW RUAN 1955 86 Street, in business for 40 years for good reason-excellent food & portion size is as it should be.
We usually order food home, and unfortunately, we used to order from this place. When we ordered these shrimp rolls, they came with a bandage on them from someone who had hurt themselves. What worries me is that there could have been blood contamination in my food, and maybe other people's. I would recommend that the restaurant evaluate the sanitation in their kitchen in a more efficient manner.
