Probably my favorite chicken sandwich in the city. Checks every box for me in terms of a great chicken sandwich - thigh meat, nice crunch, and a slaw that is done to perfection. (Lettuce and mayo works too, but that’s the part of the sandwich I’m least picky about.) Have been here multiple times and every time the food and service has been consistent. It is made to order so not “fast food” by any means, but it’s always a pleasure when I get to come on an afternoon, people watch in one of the window seats, and munch on some juicy chicken as a treat.
we ordered the soy garlic chicken bowl, shrimp tempura rolls, & tteokbokki. everything was super good!
Top 3 k fried chicken I’ve had in my life! Excited to try Sweetie’s after trying Peeps a few weeks ago. The wings were fried to perfection. Didn’t have that double fried (wet coat?) crunch like the heyday of BonChon about 20 years ago but it was a pleasant crunch nonetheless. I would say the crunch is close to what you would imagine Kentucky Fried Chicken’s would taste like based on the picture but unlike that KFC there is no disappointment! Sweetie’s has a nice combination of crunch that also crumbles softly. My kid got the tteokbokki and it was a very decent sized portion for the price. Good flavor, they didn’t skimp on the sauce, and the rice cakes were not over/under cooked! Theo rice bowls and jap chae both looked good but will have to wait till next time to actually taste them
We were in the neighborhood and were looking for somewhere to eat and happened to walk past sweeties. We I got the half half potato corn dog w sugar and my bf got the hot dog corn dog — both were incredible and some of the best kdogs I’ve had (even better than two hands and ok dog imo). We also got the spicy soy garlic poppers and then tteokbokki, which we devoured. All of the food looked amazing as well but unfortunately I ate all of my food so fast I forgot to take pics haha. Very friendly staff and nice clean comfy-casual atmosphere. Would definitely come back!
I always have to grab sweeties when I’m in the neighborhood! I’ve had a lot of korean fried chicken but this is the best chicken. If I could give 10 stars I would. I recommend their spicy rice cakes and gochujang poppers or wings - both korean classics! there aren't many places to sit and eat in greenpoint so that makes sweeties even better
I just went there for the first time and tried the half and half K-dog and chicken sandwich. Both were delicious! The chicken is cooked fresh so plan on a 10-15 minute wait for chicken items, but it's worth the wait. The K-dogs come with powdered sugar on them and it works really well to make a blend of savory and sweet. I got honey mustard dipping sauce for the K-dog but it really didn't need the extra flavor.
Amazing chicken 🐔 Amazing service, I accidentally purchased twice and the cashier lady voided the duplicate order. Great sauce flavors, but there's only like 1, it would be better if there were a variety of sauces like Bonchon, which has k-bbq(sweet), and soy garlic(savory), with occasional limited time flavors. The soy garlic is already amazing here, im pretty sure any other flavor ya come up with will also be great. Best korean fried chicken around.
Sweeties is an amazing place. Every time I go i know I'm always onna get amazing, satisfying food.I have prety muh gotten everything off their menu to try however my top 2 and the bulgogi beef bowl and the soy garlic chicken bowl. Both aren't as cheap as you think but still reasonably priced. The Bulgogi beef bowl is tender beef on top of juicy onions, and under both is white rice. It is a good balance between meat and rice and is overall very satisfying. The soy garlic bowl hs their soy garlic chicken poppers drizzled in a number of sauces over rice! I usually get the spicy version, and Boy, is it spicy!! It is the perfect amount of spice im looking for, and i enjoy it every time. This place is an overall 8/10 for me.
I was craving fried chicken, and this Korean spot just rocked the izzy out of me. The atmosphere is quaint and airy. Great customer service. As for the crispy fried wings, they were flavorful, hot, and juicy. I enjoyed the new item honey butter poppers and the soy garlic wings were 🔥🔥🔥. My daughter enjoyed the mozzarella corn dog, that pull, though.
The soy garlic wings and the fried chicken wings were delicious! One of the Korean chicken wing spots in NYC. My kids really enjoyed the wings and the variety of sauces they offer. The mozzarella corn dog was also very yummy. I’d definitely recommend if you’re craving some wings. Price is not bad either for such good quality wings.
So we here at Instagrams @Colonialfoods heard about this Korean chicken place- “Sweetie's K Chicken”. We set out to have an adventure! When we got there a very nice young man took our order. He was very patient as we really didn’t know what to order and we couldn’t pronounce some of the food names. I went with the Soy Garlic Chicken Bowl, Nicky got the Gochujang Poppers. We sat and waited for our order to be ready as one guest after another entered and soon the line was to the door! We didn’t have to wait long, the kitchen to table wait time is literally a couple of minutes! Both entrees literally exploded with flavor. We both ordered our meals spicy, and wow was that a great idea! We tried each others food because we couldn’t believe how delicious everything was. Each piece of chicken was crunchy, bursting with the delicious authentic sauces they were tossed in! The prices were reasonable and we left feeling full! Are we going back? YES!! Did we mind the 50 minute drive from Long Island to get there? HECK NO!! Worth every bit of the drive! Should you hop in your car and go there?? MOST DEFINITELY!!
I love fried chicken, and this may be the best fried chicken I’ve ever had! So flavorful and juicy, but crispy without being heavy or oily. I am a self proclaimed corn dog skeptic but I truly enjoyed every bite of the one being sold here- again, crispy and light without feeling heavy or dense. I definitely recommend Sweetie’s K-chicken to everyone and anyone! The staff was really helpful and kind, and the store’s decor is really cute too :)
light yet flavorful, the cheesy dogs were crisp, not heavy to eat, and so fresh. Something about it just makes it so tasty! ou weee. Same with the chicken, its sweet light and just enough flavor wanting to eat more. Pork bowl was just ok, stick to the chicken its better the rice was mid too. Myabe missing veggies.
First off, this location is prime and their hours are the best. Many places around here close early and Im always craving good food when it comes to late night munchies. Their logo is also mad cute. Its the owner and her daughter-in-law! Im always one for family businesses. They give the vibe of “we care, we’re family.” Now on to the food. Originally, the plan for me and my fiancé was to grab a quick bite before we eat our dinner…but things took a mouth watering turn. The fried chicken was sooo juicy and the crisp was amazing. A lot of korean fried chicken places their wings are flavorful but the crisp is either lacking or soggy. Here, the soy garlic wings had a nice crispy texture and the flavor wasn’t overpowering but just enough to get that savory soy garlic taste. The original wings were especially crispy and paired well with the sauces. My favorite was the spicy honey mustard and the spicy cheese. Couldn’t get enough of it. Now for the best part. The spicy crispy poppers…man… I usually prefer bones over boneless but these poppers changed my mind. The meat was juicy and didn’t have that rubbery feel that most boneless chicken have. And the spicy gave the poppers a nice pleasant kick. To make it even harder for us to stop eating, we also got the kimchi that was made by the owner and i gotta say kimchi with the crispy poppers is a pairing you have to try. Once you wat the poppers you want the kimchi. If you eat the kimchi you want the poppers. Once you go kimchi poppers you cant go back. Finally, the service was great. Cant say how nice it is to have workers chat with you and treat you with respect. They did a good job with hiring the right people for front of house. They kept the dining area very clean. The icing on top was that the bathroom was clean and tidy. So hard to find a decent bathroom in the city. 10/10 recommend this place for all your late night/korean fried chicken cravings *will have to go back for the corndogs and bowls!
Crispy and cheesy Korean corn dog. Juicy and flavorful chicken wings. My husband and I stopped by after a pretty big dinner, but we couldn’t help devouring every single item. It honestly made us wish we skipped our dinner so we’d have more room for Sweetie’s. You won’t regret being one of the first to try out this new spot in Greenpoint. Run, don’t walk!!!
A very cozy experience with yummy food! Got a glimpse into the kitchen and saw Korean moms making our food, added to the homey feel of their service :) Corn dog was delicious, ordered the mozzarella and a half&half. Sauce and sugar topping were subtle and yummy. They also gave us a chicken wing sample. All of the staff is so sweet ❤️
Good chicken! The wings (4.5/5) were really moist and crispy with the soy garlic sauce. The chicken thigh poppers (4/5 and $15) were good but a little dry and too expensive. Get a dry coating on top of it because the Gochujang sauce made the breading soggy. The wings (4.5/5) were really nice with the soy garlic sauce.
Service: 5/5 Ambiance: 4/5 Food:3/5 The mother-and-daughter duo was the team!!!!! Amazing service and a very friendly place indeed with plenty of seating. Food: Soy garlic wings were amazing, fried crisp and the sauce is perfect not too garlic or over salty soy. The corn dog was OK... I feel like the options for more savory or sweet on the dog. The sugar wasn't really for me BUT I put the chicken on the dog & BABY!!!!! The two combo match is so damn good as the mozzarella wraps around the chicken and the crispy sugary breading MMMMMMM... IF YOU DECIDE TO CREATE THIS DOG NAME IT THE "HONEY CHICKEN DOG" The potato dog should also have the option of savory seasoning it was lacking something it just wasn't hitting maybe it needed some chicken in it too... Also if you pay with CASH for chicken or bowls gets you a FREE soda or water not Milkis
Been wanting to come since they opened. Had very high expectations for this place, so I will judge it like that. Im also have very high standards for fried chicken. I got both the crispy spicy wings and soy garlic wings. The crispy wings were fried to perfection, but I didnt find them to be spicy at all. Maybe they messed up and gave me original? The soy garlic wings had food flavor, but were a bit dry. Wish they had some picked radish as a side to cut the grease and fat. Overall, I would consider going back. If you happen to be in Greenpoint, definitely go.
I used to LOVE Sweetie K’s but the portion and flavor just isn’t the same anymore. The tenders used to be big and juicy with a big hit of flavor without any sauce, it tasted like there was no seasoning and they were TINY this time around. I added a pic and in each pic I’m holding what’s supposed to be a whole chicken strip. The soy garlic wings also just lacked that depth of flavor they used to have. The crunch was good but I had to keep dipping it in extra sauce. Disappointed and probably won’t be going back unfortunately.
