Even though the owners haven’t kept up with painting and all the little bits that make you feel like they care for the restaurant since they opened it, this Tacombi is a great spot because of staff, like Emma, and the team in the kitchen. Cranking out some of the best Mexican food in this area. As a neighbor, we love y’all. Thank you for doing what you do.
The young waiter was very friendly, I really appreciate that he asked if we had allergies!! Excellent hospitality!!! He checked up on our table to assure we are good on drinks and offered if we wanted more or any other menu item. I appreciate his well knowledge of the menu, I believe this is very critical to the hospitality business and he executed with excellence!!!
Sooooo yummy. Like actually so good. We were served by Nat who was super friendly and accommodating. I got al pastor tacos which I def recommend!!!
This location is superior to the one on the upper East Side of Manhattan. The burritos were delicious and filling, tacos were tasty and the frozen Pina colada was just sweet and strong enough for a treat. The service was friendly and efficient. Will go there again for sure.
I’ve been coming here for years for a quick bite before a show at BAM across the street but I realized last night it was also convenient if you’re going to Brooklyn Paramount that’s also around the corner. The food is always on point, the service is quick and the tacos are muy delicioso (pardon my Spanish). I always get the crispy fish tacos which are perfectly fried and battered, a michelada with Modelo and the fresh made guacamole but you can’t go wrong with anything on the menu. Get a reservation though because they are known to book up when there’s a show going on!
My girlfriend and I decided to come here last minute for our 4-year anniversary, and I’m so glad we did! I was a little skeptical at first, but the food completely blew me away. The chicken, shrimp, and birria tacos were fresh and packed with flavor, and the drinks were amazing too. Service was excellent—our waiter was professional, attentive, and made the night feel special. Highly recommend Tacombi Fort Greene for delicious food and great vibes!
Super fun authentic taqueria right across from BAM. it was packed on a Friday night but we got there early around 5:30p. The margaritas were perfect (ask for no sugar). The crispy fish taco was the best. Short rib also delicious. We’re ordered all the Entradas and they were all good especially the rice and beans and corn esquites.
Not sure why they only have a 4.3 rating—this place is amazing! The food is super authentic, and it honestly feels like I’m in Mexico. I had a margarita with Tajín, and even the Tajín is homemade! I’ll definitely be coming back. I had beef Birria and Pollo taco and my husband loved beef ribeye quesadilla. Their sodas are good too! End with Churros. 😊
Tacombi never fails! I’ve gone here many days before or after a movie and this time, it was tacos and drinks on Mother’s Day. We got guac+chips, 4 types of tacos: the baja crispy fish, seared fish, shrimp, and birria tacos, and a few margaritas. it was a great snack and intermission though I’ve had plenty dinners there as well! I highly recommend.
I usually order delivery from this restaurant, but I decided to come over since I was around this neighborhood. To my surprise, this place is very cute and the people here are so nice and friendly! Food is even better than delivery because it’s hotter and juicier. My favorite tacos are seared fish and sear shrimp, especially the shrimp, oh, yummy!
Only reason I wouldn't rate 5 stars is because the value for money here isn't great. I love the food, very delicious and fresh. I love the setup, very cool. Our waitress was the nicest and coolest. She made sure we were happy and satisfied since in the indoor area the door was getting lots of cold air inside so we requested to move outside (there's a closed area) and she was the only one who made sure we are moved outside and satisfied with where we werw seated. I would only negatively comment about the prices and the portions, it should be bigger portions for these prices or lower prices for these portions.
The food and service were great. It was a little on the pricey side seeing that the portion sizes were relative to street tacos but flavor profile was on point. The burritos are a must try and I wish they sold the table side salsas were for sale lol. Will definitely be returning
This is a retro looking restaurant. Its kind of fast food but sit down. They have a simple menu. They have a few vegetarian options, few seafood, few chicken, and a few meat ones. They offer them in a taco, quesidillas or burrito option. My favorite was the sweet potato taco. We also got the chicken tinga taco and quesidilla. The taco and quesidilla are different in the type of tortilla they use. It was tasty with authentic flavors. We also got the street corn. Its served in a paper cup. Its good but needed a little kick with hot sauce, which they have on the tables. I washed it off with a mango margarita. It was nice and strong. The Pina colada was refreshing but needed a little a better mixing. The service could have been a little faster but it was busy.
The tacos were good across the board, and the shrimp taco stood out for me. The service was very distracted even though there were more waiters than customers early on a weekday. The ambience is hard to pin down. I like it, but it feels strange. It's like a mix of a hospital, someone's house, and it looks unfinished.
Tacombi in downtown Brooklyn is one of those spots that immediately draws you in with its vibrant atmosphere and inviting setting. The décor has a fun, casual vibe with a distinctly Mexican flair, making it an enjoyable place to sit back and share a meal with friends. Its location is also a big plus—easily accessible and surrounded by the lively energy that makes Brooklyn dining such a great experience. On the service side, the staff is attentive and welcoming, which definitely adds to the overall positive impression. That said, when it comes to the food itself, there’s room for improvement. The portions are fair for the price, which I do appreciate. It doesn’t feel like you’re being shorted, and value-wise it lines up with what you’d expect in the area. However, the flavors don’t quite deliver on the same level as the atmosphere and service. While the tacos and other dishes look appealing and are plated nicely, the taste can feel a little underwhelming—missing some of the depth and punch you might anticipate from authentic Mexican street-style food. Nothing was terrible, but nothing stood out enough to make me crave coming back solely for the food. Another point worth mentioning is the drink selection. Tacombi only offers Lupita sodas, which feels limiting. While Lupita may be their in-house brand, it almost comes across as being pushed onto customers since there aren’t other soda options available. If you’re not a fan of Lupita’s particular flavor profile, that leaves you with little choice, which takes away from the overall dining flexibility. All in all, Tacombi has great potential. With its charming setting, convenient location, and solid service, it sets high expectations. If the food’s flavors were elevated to match the rest of the experience, it could easily become a go-to spot. For now, it sits at a solid three stars.
I walked in to this place before the show at BAM, it's busy has a great vibe. and we thought we would just come in for a quick bite becasue it's taco should be fast. but it took almost an hour for two taco orders. not sure if they forgot our order, but we asked three times finally another waitress came over to help us sort it out . food is good but dont have time to try more becasue it was too slow.
We were having some quesadillas with my brother and couple of beers and drinks. To be honest, this place is not crazy expensive but it is overpriced. Also tables are sticky, and who puts a garbage bin in the dining area? I feel this place needs to be cleaned up better. There are flies flying around and bothering you while you eat. I did not order a lot of food, because I already had two slices of pizza before. Also there is a hostess stand and it looked like someone has vomited on it before and it was not cleaned properly. So value wise it was not worth my money. For 35 dollars I could have gotten a good burrito and couple of beers in Chipotle and I would be more than satisfied. And no, I would not go there again.
Went here for a quick bite and got the Baja fish burrito. It was dry and there were barely any rice and beans inside just the fried fish which didn’t taste good. They didn’t have any salad verde despite the description so I had to ask for it on the side since the burrito was so dry. The service was good, our server was attentive despite the crowd. However, the burrito was pretty mid
Joel, the first bartender, was truly incredible — warm, attentive, and genuinely on top of everything. Unfortunately, the experience completely fell apart when the bar staff changed over. The red-haired bartender who took over was shockingly rude and made it very clear she did not want to be there. I waited more than 15 minutes for a single drink while she ignored me and focused only on service-well orders. When she finally rang it in, she charged full price even though it was still happy hour, with no courtesy mention that HH was ending or asking if I wanted to order anything else beforehand. When I politely asked for a supervisor, she said she was the supervisor, instantly became confrontational, and told me she was “not comfortable” with me — then refused to give her name so I could report the issue. After that, several staff members openly gossiped about me at the bar, making the entire environment uncomfortable and unprofessional. The food deserves 5 stars, but the customer service was a 0. One of the worst hospitality experiences I’ve had, and I won’t be returning. There are far better options in the area where guests are treated with basic respect.
