We’ve been dining at Legend Cafe more and more recently. Food has been served fresh, hot, and relatively quick. Although I’m not an expert, nor a foodie, the food, to me tastes great. I would say it’s on par with other HK Cafes. Satisfying, but overall not better than the rest. What sets them apart, imo, is the cleanliness and well lit interior. Atmosphere is great too. Well spaced out, small cozy but still well maintained. Other HK cafes have more of a dim gloomy interior. We noticed their staff is extremely attentive. The service here is really top notch and that does a long way too. Last but certainly not least.. they are kid friendly. Clean higher chairs and booster seats that they set up for you on the spot and not just hand it over for you to deal with. Paper plates are offered for your kiddos. We have been back multiple times.

Excellent service and the food is delicious. We got Portuguese baked pork chops, udon, French fries, curry baked brisket, seafood baked casserole and beef fried noodles. I’d love to try drinks next time.

Reservations were made since this place is usually full. We ordered Hong Kong style milk tea, toast with condensed milk & peanut butter, and beef chow fun. Food was great and wait time for the orders to arrive wasn't long either. Parking may be difficult to find though around the area.

Today is my last day at Brooklyn. I feel so lucky to pick and came for lunch. The food was delicious and the waiters are very nice. If you’re going for the food you really really should come and I am coming back for second

Love the CURRY! The oxtail curry with white rice is perfect for the cold weather today. It is also a little spicy which I love. The satay beef with wide noodle was good too but I like the curry more. I'm coming back to order the Portuguese Bake rice dish next time. Must order 15 minutes ahead of time. Can't wait!!! I'm feeling hungry again...

Pretty good prices and great flavors! I came here with my partner and his family after we trekked the steep mountain trail in Greene County, NY. His parents come here often and it was my partner and I’s first time. The service is great and the food arrived very quickly. The portions are all pretty generous and I had to bring my meal to go with me! The boots I wore were absolutely not the right thing to wear for hiking - I was tripping over rocks and ledges constantly! But never the less, the trail was amazing and rewarded us with an astonishing view of the Hudson Valley. I ordered the Minced Beef with Spaghetti, which was rich with flavor, although it could’ve had a little more beef (but that’s just to my liking). My partner ordered the Curry with Chicken and Rice. The chicken was crispy and delicious and the curry was extremely flavorful. I think next time I would love to go hiking again somewhere more challenging (but with the proper shoes this time, LOL!) but our trail served a wonderful pleasant yet challenging hike and it was a great way to spend the day. I forgot to take photos of the food while eating, but believe me, it was great!!

This is a great spot for classic Hong Kong-style food, and it's cheap too! I was so happy to find this place. I ordered the Canto-style pork chop with two eggs and rice, and it was absolutely delicious, the pork chop was tender and flavorful, and the whole dish was so comforting. I also tried the pork ribs rice, which was another winner. And of course, I had to get the HK milk tea, which was rich, smooth, and perfectly balanced. What really stood out was the amazing value for the money. You get generous portions of quality, authentic food without breaking the bank. If you're a fan of Hong Kong cuisine or just want to try something delicious and affordable, I highly recommend this place.

Amazing prices, large portions, great drinks. The Baked Portuguese Chicken is amazing and so is the French Toast.

One of the best cafe restaurant with excellent food and reasonable prices. We ordered the baked Portuguese chicken and an order of the fried chicken wings. It was delicious! We also got two mango green tea iced drinks. Perfect for a hot day when you’re hungry for lunch. Although the wait time varies on the day you go, it’s still a great restaurant, will be coming back for more.

Ignore the bad reviews, this place is legit, a hidden gem. Delicious French toast and HK milk tea. Salt and pepper squid and curry fish ball is addicting too. Friendly service and very reasonable prices, everything you see in the picture (plus 2 HK milk teas) came out to $35 including tip. Will come back next time im in Brooklyn!

Great Hong Kong–style café with generous portions and solid value. The food came out hot and well-prepared, and everything was really satisfying. The best dish was the salt and pepper fried chicken wings. Highly recommended. Service was friendly and attentive, which made the experience even better. We’d definitely come back for classic HK café comfort food.

great place to grab hongkong style cafe food! It’s affordable and the portion sizes are pretty decent. the Portuguese chicken was really filling and highly recommended the toast! the fried rice was a little bit on the bland side but it was still good! the red bean ice drink was decent, i was expecting it to be sweetened with condensed milk so the ice part was bland but the red beans were already sweet when mixed together. the atmosphere itself was relatively relaxing! it’s crowded during lunch hours so maybe coming here to have a late lunch would be better!

Pleasantly surprised by the food quality at this Hong Kong-style cafe, especially given the affordable prices. The highlight of my meal was definitely the French toast—warm, fluffy, crispy, and just the right amount of sweetness. I also enjoyed the salted fish meat patty, which was impressively large. The sea bass with French fries was perfectly crispy, but it didn’t stand out as anything special. The salt and pepper squid was also a bit small in portion. For drinks, I recommend the coffee milk tea and honey lemon tea. Both are classics. Overall, The Legend Cafe House offered a great casual meal, and I can't wait to return.

We went here for dinner and got the garlic chicken steak sizzling combo, eggplant salty fish with rice, fries, and sauteed string beans with meat bits and two HK style milk teas in a nice mug. All of the menu items were pretty great except for the fries... They tasted a bit uncooked on the inside so maybe they just needed to heat it up longer. The service was fantastic! The wait staff kept making sure to clear away our empty plates and we're always attentive. As for the atmosphere - none of that ridiculous ambiance lighting which makes it a little hard to read the menu and see your food. Though I am more of a utilitarian rather than a romantic.

Wow, what a flavorful stop at The Legend Food Cafe! I indulged in the mouth-watering Chicken Wings and Butter Peanut Toast, and oh boy, it was love at first bite! The chicken wings were crispy perfection, with a savory sauce that left me craving more. And the Butter Peanut Toast? Heavenly! The combination of creamy butter, nutty peanut sauce, and crispy bread was a match made in heaven. The portion was generous, the price was reasonable, and the service was top-notch and accommodating. My curry oxtail was a Grand slam 🎉🎉 The service is good and lounge seats are comfortable. BYOB is a big incentive for me to become a regular diner. 6/3/24 update: Back again for encore. We ordered five items. Their deep fried foods really crispy and crunchy. Beef Chow Fun is full of Wok Hei flavor and popular. Beef brisket curry on rice (I didn't take a picture) did not impressed me. Eggplant and salted fish on rice is my favorite! Service is awesome and welcoming. We'll definitely go back.

After seeing a TikTok of this older Chinese man rave about this place I decided to try it out. I’m glad I did, though it was a bit of a trip getting there seeing I live in Manhattan but I’ll always travel for good food. When I arrived I was immediately greeted and seated by the host. The menu was extensive yet concise. The portions were large, especially for the price which is reasonable. As to the dishes themselves, very flavourful, enjoyable, and filling. I was very happy with the dishes we chose and would definitely go back.

No, I'm not that fat, I just came here a number of times lol. Their combination plates are great like the Sirloin Steak or Mixed USA Grill (Fried Porkchop, Grilled Ham, Bacon, Hotdog, and probably something else I'm missing). If you're looking to order your steaks medium rare, I would also recommend showing them a picture of what medium rare looks like because they don't always get it right. But they're super sweet so always open to fixing it up for you I don't do much besides their combo plate but it's pretty local for me and definitely worth the travel (2 blocks away). If you're in the area, come through

The Legend Cafe House might seem familiar to people that have been frequently eating around 86th Street in the Bensonhurst area a few years ago. It used to be around that area but the location changed to a Asian Steak house over time. Now, years later, it reopened at this new spot slightly off the beaten path of the hustle and bustle of the busier 86th street area and is instead located just across from Jmart. The new place as before specializes in Hong Kong cafe style food and have a decent variety of selection to choose from on their menu. The baked dishes like Baked Chicken over white sauce which is a rice dish with a melted cheesy topping have always been one of my go to. They also have sizzling steaks on a hot plate here but I didn't try that out yet. During this review, it was their second or third day of business and thus as with a lot of places with grand openings, there would be growing pains. When I went, an order to go took almost 40 to 50 minutes despite it being moderately busy. Partly it is because the baked dishes usually takes about 15 to 20 minutes to make but that still doesn't explain the other 20 to 30 minutes. I expect this to improve over time when the business gets into its groove and work out the kinks so I'm not holding that against them for now. There is a decent amount of tables inside as of now and because of covid, they currently also have outdoor dining.

Gave this place a try since they are open Sundays. It's a cha chaan teng on New Utrecht which is a bit off the main 18th Ave strip. You can cut across the JMART parking lot as a shortcut. It’s a Hong Kong style cafe food and prices are reasonable. The fish filet with Chinese vegetable had fresh ginger slices which I really liked. The chicken curry has a nice kick to it. The eggplant with salted fish was very soft. Solid cha chaan teng that I'll come back to even on other days ;)

the food was good and staff were rlly nice, however the vibes are very busy and the place is always crowded with people wanting a table. the environment feels very rushed and loud so if you want a table, it’s best to go as early as you can to try and find a table !

Friendly and good service, I order black pepper sauce chicken on rice, the taste and seasoning is on point. Their iced Hong Kong style tea is delicious, and don't forget to order their french toast. Limited seating. Update for May 3, ordered an omelette, egg is over cooked, chicken is bland with no seasoning, there is a lot of room for improvement.

The food offers a reasonable value, making it an appealing option for many. The wonton, in particular, is a standout item that is worth trying. Its delicious flavor and texture truly elevate the dining experience. You'll likely find yourself craving this dish after the first bite. Overall, it's a satisfying and enjoyable meal.

A great hint king cafe spot in Brooklyn. All the foods here are solid and worth the price. Many good dishes to eat and try. Cha Chan tangs are great for a somewhat homey vibe. Prices aren’t bad and it’s good to come with a group of friends to share the food. The weekend can be busy and the wait for the food is a little longer but you can guarantee that it comes out fresh! Overall a great spot.

A very nice cha chan teng with a good amount of seating and is very clean. For the foods, my favorite was the HK style french toast and the baked porkchop over spaghetti. The ham and egg sandwich and the soy sauce choy mein were also pretty good. The dry stiry fry beef noodle was a bit lackluster. The curry was good but the fishball wasn't really infused into the curry sauce so it's not really reccomended. Overall a solid spot.

Went on a Saturday afternoon and it was okay. The service wasn't too great as it felt they servers did not want to be bothered to do anything but give you your food and be left alone. My friend told me they got my order wrong (got beef instead of spare rib) as well as our other friend but the food 'for me' was decent. Our friend did not...but felt it would have been too much trouble to exchange it. The place is nice looking with lots of seating and grand couches for very large parties in the back on the restaurant. The bathroom as well was spacious.

Like the drink. Their portion is pretty big. However, the taste of food it wasn’t that good for my taste.

I have been here at least twice, having no complaints. If you have the opportunity, opt to eat in the restaurant rather than takeout. We had ordered chicken and pineapple fried rice, as well as chicken curry noodles. Nobody within my party can tolerate spice well, so we had asked for less spice. Both of these dishes were disappointing. The pineapple fried rice had THREE pieces of CANNED pineapple(hence my three stars), and the lettuce was soggy/wilted. The chicken curry noodles were VERY spicy even though we had asked for very little spice. I am extremely disappointed with the lack of care for customers.

Visited this self proclaimed "Hong Kong style cafe" a couple of times ordering a few HK classic dishes and here is my review. First and foremost at any HK cafe for us is tasting their HK teas. Here we ordered their HK milk tea hot as well as cold plus their cold HK lemon tea. We have had better HK teas in the NYC area but it is not as bland or merely Lipton/Tently tea as some bakeries/restaurants use. The flavor profile is mediocre and not as rich as some of our favorite HK tea spots in NYC. The lemon tea was a bit watered down even upon arrival at our table as well as being loaded with ice. As for food we had ordered their French toast with condensed milk and peanut butter - this was decent, not overly sweet, not overly fried, but a bit less peanut butter than most and using average Chinese bakery white bread. Baked curry beef brisket over rice - done correctly like HK with a fried egg rice base, filled to the top amount of beef and curry that is decently tasty but not exactly authentic HK if this is what you are looking for. Sizzling combo of sirloin steak, borsch soup, fries, spaghetti, and drink - all this for $32. The steak was a large cut abeit not the best cut but considering the price point I cannot complain too much. As well as it being cooked exactly medium plus salted and peppered correctly. The HK borsch soup was average, spaghetti is eh, and fries nice n crispy. Their Supreme soy sauce fried noodles - not how the usual HK soy sauce fried noodle is made and too soggy. I also prefer it with the proper wok hay which this is lacking yet it has some burnt pieces (which I noticed also in the dish the table next to us ordered). However it is filled with all sorts of veggies for those value seekers. So overall speaking of value The Legend Cafe House does offer value and large dishes - we can see this in how busy the place is with families, kids, and the like during peak hours. Impressive is the quality of the waitresses and service they offer - prompt, polite, and they care what they do. In terms of food taste, dish prep, and likeness to Hong Kong we would say it is average for the NYC area. Would I go back - yes for the value and service.

We got minced beef baked spaghetti and a baked chicken rice with tomato sauce and they didn’t really have that traditional HK Flavor. I would agree with a lot of the reviews on here and say that the flavor was a bit too bland/simple. We also ordered the salt&pepper squid as an appetizer and it was WAY too salty and not crispy at all (was more on the rubbery side). My bf ordered the HK milk tea (which he said tasted good) and I got the honey lemon which was ok as well.

There is a huge menu selection it is nice to have many options, but I would much rather they specialize on some. Some dishes are bland and can be improved. The Beef w/ black bean sauce chow fun was bland, though the beef was tender, but I was disappointed and will not order this again. The baked curry chicken on rice is tasted way better compared to the chow fun, it has the right amount of sauce, tender chicken, and decently seasoned while not too heavy. French toast with peanut butter has good presentation, and decent combination of crunchy and soft texture, however, there isn’t a lot of peanut sauce spread between the toast, so it could have been better. Drink selections are decent, they are alright but not impressive. Drinks: Hot HK style milk tea, Coke with ginger, Lemon tea Food: Beef w/ black bean sauce Chow Fun (I believe), French toast w peanut butter, baked curry chicken on rice There are plenty of seatings inside, also have table for big group.

The food portions is tiny. Order the chow ho, and it’s the smallest take out container I’ve ever seen. Food is average. Shocked by the portion size.

I came for a birthday dinner. It didn't look too busy for a Friday night. Ordered the prix frixe T bone steak and asked for it to be rare, Borscht soup, lemon tea. When the borsht soup came, I noticed right away a hair on the edge of the soup line and it looked like it was a considerably smaller portion than another partygoer's soup. I bought it to the waitresses attention and she took it back. I chose not to get another soup. It was a big turnoff. About 5-10 minutes later another waitress comes to the table to ask us if we're sure we want the steaks rare. Strange question but of course answer was yes. Out comes the steaks. They were cooked medium well. We immediately bought it to their attention. The waitress went to the back and then no one came back to address the issue. We got another waitresses attention and mentioned to her the steak wasn't cooked rare. She takes off to the back. Finally a manager comes to the table. He's a bit standoffish and gets flustered speaking to us about the steak's doneness. Needless to say, my dining experience is now ruined. I'm not coming back.

My family and friends came for a birthday dinner on Friday night. My husband and my friend ordered the prix fixe T bone steak and asked for it rare, with the Borscht soup, lemon tea. When the borscht soup came, my husband and I noticed right away a hair on the edge of the soup line. We brought it to the waitresse's attention and she took it back. He chose not to get another soup. It was a big turnoff ( We didn't take a picture of that but when it happened a second time on the corn soup, I decided to take a picture.) While we were waiting for the main courses, our appetizers and side dishes came. The chicken wings and calamari portions were small, granted they were appetizers. However, the quality of the food did not match its price point and its small portion. About 5-10 minutes into our waiting, a different waitress comes to the table to ask us if we're sure we want the steaks rare. We thought it was odd, but of course the answer was yes. My son got the oxtail, it was mostly bones ( picture included). The curry sauce was lukewarm. I got the lamb with bean curd, no flavor and microwaved not long enough. It was hot outside and cold inside. Then finally comes the steaks. They were cooked medium well. We immediately brought it to the attention of another waitress who went to the back and never came back. 5 minutes later, we raised our hands to signal another waitress and mentioned to her that the steak wasn't cooked rare. She then went to the back and then 5 minutes later, a manager came to the table. He's a bit standoffish and starts to get flustered about the steak's doneness. He said the kitchen has been busy and the steak was probably cooked rare but during the process of getting it to our table because they are so busy, the steak became medium done because it sat on the warming plate too long. So, we are wondering how is this our problem? Especially, when the waitress made an effort to come out and made sure we had requested something rare ?. The male manager became so frustrated he said, " comp his dish, oh forget it, comp the whole dinner. ) and walked away. 10 minutes later, the male manager comes back. He apologized and said it's slow down now, I can talk to you. He offered another steak but at that time, we were all about to be finished with our food. The waitress who asked about the rare steak came out also and apologized profusely. Once again, their excuse is that they were busy. When we finally got our check, she made it a point to point out that the drinks were on them, all 3 drinks. By the way, most of our drinks were included in the pre fix dinner. In addition, we left 20% tip even though the service was mediocre. Needless to say, my dining experience is now ruined. We are definitely not going back and we don't recommend this place to anyone.

They deserve a 0* rating. We arrived at 8pm and their service was terrible. We sat down for a while before someone came over and gave us the menu. There was 5 of us yet only 4 menus and the lady there with short Bob cut was rushing us saying the kitchen will close at 8:45 due to closing time at 9. We still had plenty of time yet she kept rushing us and even got our orders incorrect. The most "memorable" moment was instead of getting 2 orders of curry fishballs, we had 2 eggs added to our pasta dish instead. When they found out it was a mistake they actually asked if we wanted the eggs removed. Really? I get it's a mistake but what were you planning to do after "removing" the extra eggs? Seriously they didn't even deserve the tips we left either.

First time trying their Baked Chicken with Rice — the tomato sauce had no sweetness or tanginess at all. It just tasted salty and bland. The service is also bad, this is also the first time I ever heard they can't make any adjustment on the premade sauce when my only request is to just simply put some sugar on it.

Ordered the baked curry oxtail with spaghetti. Then found a piece of hair in my dish. I told the waiter and instead of offering to make me a new dish or giving us a refund she proceeded to say her chefs all have short hair. Literally minutes after I watched a lady with long hair come out the kitchen to use the bathroom and went back into the kitchen. The red bean drink was bland and the red beans were hard. Definitely will not be back

They have two locations, and I placed an order through Fantuan. The order was directed to this location, and upon contacting them to request a refund, my request was denied. This business practice is unacceptable, especially given that the picture clearly indicated the 86th Street location.

They used to be good but is a big NO now. Ordered a fish filet comes out straight fried dough with no fish inside! Talked to the waitress and she challenged you back.
