El Mitote was such a great find! The food was flavorful, fresh, and absolutely delicious. What made the experience even better was the exceptional customer service. They made sure we felt welcomed, checked on us often, and kept everything flowing smoothly. It’s a must-visit whether you’re going for Taco Tuesday or just craving amazing Spanish cuisine.
Fantastic "everyday" Mexican food. They have a really cozy central bar for watching soccer. Excellent margaritas with a variety of flavors. Our bartender, Algo, was phenomenal, and I can't wait to go back.
Havent been to this place in a while. I used to go here all the time and decided to review it. it’s in a really good area of NYC and the food is delicious! People are nice, atmosphere is great, can be a bit loud but you can still hear people talking. recommend this place and if you’re in the mood for Mexican food and in the area stop by!!
Everything is just amazing and everyone is so friendly. I would eat here every single day if possible. Every dish is excellent!! Best Mexican in New York
Tasty Mexican restaurant on the upper west side. Conveniently located by Lincoln Center, so I went here before going to the New York City ballet. Nice selection of drinks and food. A great option for vegetarians if dining with meat eaters. We had to sit outside which was a little hard in the cold October time, but there were space heaters so it was warm enough. I’d come back!
Relaxed atmosphere and super delicious food :) We had few tacos and we really like it (remind us on our visits to Mexico). Personal even managed to serve us our favorite - Mescalita drink even it was not on the menu…love it. I would come back again. We totally forgot to make the pics of the food…then you know enough. :)
Absolutely delicious! We’re out-of-towners, and the staff made us feel right at home. The ambiance was inviting, and the food was outstanding. If you’re craving authentic Mexican flavors, this spot is a must-try!
El Mitote is in a great spot for after-work happy hours. It’s a smaller, quaint location, but it’s filled with so much ambiente and lively energy. The drinks are solid, and the food is absolutely amazing... definitely the kind that makes you want to come back. The décor gives major Día de los Muertos vibes, colorful and full of personality. I didn’t check out the bathrooms, but given how clean and well-kept the restaurant itself is, I’m sure they match that same standard. Overall, definitely a repeat visit in my book!
El Mitote is a casual but delicious Mexican restaurant located on the UWS. Every time I go, it never fails to disappoint. Don’t let the margs fool you, one will usually suffice. Personally, I prefer the frozen as they have the perfect consistency. I ordered the frozen coconut (which is out of this world) and my friend got the frozen blood orange marg which was also incredible. My one little critique is that what is labeled on the menu as a “quesadilla” is indeed NOT at all a quesadilla. It’s literally a soft taco with little to no cheese, but I will give them this- they are delicious. The chorizo is a big hit here and is full of flavor, but please just add more cheese!!! That’s the entire point of a (quesa)dilla, LOL. The service is great here and the atmosphere is relaxed, but it’s also very fun with the festive decor and upbeat tunes in the background.
The best Mexican restaurant I've been to in NYC! Food was delicious! I just went yesterday for the first time and it exceeded my expectations in all categories! In fact, the food was so good that it tasted even better than the Mexican food I've had in Mexico and that's saying a lot! I'm Dominican but I've visited Mexico several times and while. Mexican food in Mexico is delicious (CDMX and several other parts of Mexico I've been to), the food at this restaurant was even better. The prices were reasonable too Will definitely eat here again soon!
Unfortunately, I did not try the food, but I wish I did. Looked so GOOOOOD. The cocktails were outstanding. The 32oz def what was worth of money because I was tipsy after one drink. I will definitely come back to this place. We ordered more drinks and they made the drinks in front of us and they’re really good drinks and authentic as hell this is legit.
Went here for dinner before a movie at amc Lincoln square, we sat in their outdoor area. Started with a couple margaritas and chips with guacamole, really good guacamole. We had the chiles toreados as an appetizer and it was delicious. It was caramelized jalapenos and onions with cubes of fresco cheese and tortillas. Not too spicy but a nice richness to it, like soy sauce maybe. I had the flautas and my wife had the tinga quesadillas. All so good! We also shared some Mexican rice. Would definitely come back
El Mitote is a Mexican restaurant that offers a wide range of traditional Mexican dishes, including tacos, enchiladas, burritos, and fajitas. The restaurant has a relaxed and inviting atmosphere with colorful decor that gives off a festive vibe. The service is friendly and attentive, and the portions are generous, making it a great value for the price. The food is flavorful and made with fresh ingredients, and there are plenty of vegetarian and gluten-free options available. Overall, El Mitote is a great choice for those looking for delicious and authentic Mexican food in a welcoming and vibrant atmosphere.
I love this place. The staff is amazing & I became a regular since the first time I came. Food is delicious - posole soup is my favorite. Margaritas are the best in the city!

This place consistently has the best burritos I've had in NYC. Always very fresh tasting, not greasy. Friendly neighborhood vibe. Is a bit expensive, but well worth it.
This place never fails. It's so casual, the food is delicious. The drinks are strong, the staff is accommodating, friendly, attentive. It's a great hang.

Friday night in New York, after enjoying the central park, visited this place. Food: amazing, in my top 3 Mexican Restaurants in the USA. service: very quick. Servers are helpful. Location: near…
I got some great tacos when I came here on a date in late October. They came with some salsa on the side which was too spicy for me but eating them plain was great too. We ate outside, as it was unseasonably warm, but it did seem like people inside had good vibes too.
Perfect evening weather led us to El Mitote, and the outdoor seating didn't disappoint. Pleasant, well-spaced, and lovely ambience. Our server, Guel, was attentive, kind, and friendly - even offering a taste of different mezcals for my partner. Drinks were top-notch: Passion Fruit Margherita and Alipus San Andres Mezcal were really good. The El Tecate beer was a nice complement. Food was decent, if not spectacular - Carnitas Platter and Spicy Chorizo Burrito were enjoyable, but not the most flavorful Mexican food we've had. Given the great ambience, exceptional staff, and excellent drinks, we're willing to overlook the food's shortcomings. Pet-friendly outdoor seating is a bonus. If you're looking for a great spot for outdoor drinks, El Mitote's a solid choice.
This is a nice spot to hang out after work, have a few drinks, and eat some good food. The portions are decent and the food quality is good. However the pricing is a bit expensive for Mexican food. $13 for guacamole… what ! Despite the inflation it was a nice experience and I enjoyed myself. Fast service even during the busy hours.
The service was good but there's limited seating. The food was good but was pricey for what we got

Food was good BUT the prices were much higher than their website when I called in to place my order. I did not realize the large price discrepancy until I was presented with the bill.
Fun atmosphere (even in the rain). I had the mushroom tinga tacos, which were pretty good. The chips and salsa was delicious, but we assumed it was standard 'free chips and salsa' and it turned out to be $9 for a little basket of chips and some (albeit extremely delicious) salsa. Not that big of a deal but when the waiter offered I wish they'd mentioned they were nine bucks.
Overall there is nothing too special at El Mitote. From other reviews, I was expecting to be blown away when in reality, this place is just good. The atmosphere: is a small place with limited seating inside and a more extensive outdoor area. The aesthetic is nice but nothing special. The staff: were nice. Besides taking my order and giving the check, there wasn’t much interaction or service. The food came reasonably quickly. The food: was good. The guacamole was a bit wet. In my opinion, the pork tacos seem a little dry. The platter I had was tasty but needed a sauce. Cleanliness: Good
Three stars is a stretch, I was debating giving it two. Not sure how the reviews are so good on google, with 4.3 stars and over 1,400 reviews at the moment. The reviews on here are much more accurate…

A classic - bit pricer for your hometown Mexican food that's leveled up a bit. Perfect spot for a beer and a bite!

I cannot express how awful the food was. The salsa was flavorless. The margaritas were okay. We ordered the chorizo tacos and the fish tacos. The breading on the fish was limp and there was very little fish inside. The taco was mostly cabbage. The chorizo was just… foul. I was hesitant to pay $18-$22 for three tacos and should have trusted that instinct. All in all including tax and tip that was a very regrettably spent $100. Service was pretty quick though, so we were able to leave swiftly.
