Charlie the Butcher Express

Charlie the Butcher's (main location) was awesome (thus the 5 stars) but we unfortunately showed up here at the Express at 4:30pm on a Friday night not thinking for one minute it wouldn't be open. I have added the times to google to save others the frustration. This express is located within an office building and is vacant after 4pm so get here for lunch instead!

I LOVE Charlie the Butchers and I LOVE the Ellicott Square building, one of my favorite buildings in buffalo. It is a great spot to sit and people watch or admire an architectural gem in Buffalo while inhaling a Roast beef sandwich.

What should people know? The Beef on Weck is phenomenal and absolutely fantastic... Highly, highly recommend. I'm saying the best in WNY! :)

I’ve had a handful of beef on wecks from different restaurants in the area, and the one here blew me away! As soon as we walked inside, the smell of roast beef drew us in. Sandwich was juicy, delicious, and cheap. The roll, pickle, and horseradish were all perfect too. Will definitely be back!

Great Beef Wreck sandwich. Tender and tasty. Then had a Turkey sandwich on home baked roll. Delicious Bread Pudding Too. Must go to place. Great prices.

Amazing! I love to eat here at lunch time. The soups are always amazing and the sandwiches are always always fresh and delicious. Hands down my favorite lunch spot downtown. The location is kind of hidde . But if you seek them out you will not be sorry!

The first time I stopped by I got the special of the day- a meatloaf sandwich with mashed potatoes and gravy. I'm not even a huge meatloaf person and this sandwich was delicious! So juicy and flavorful, I didn't even need to add the chili sauce it came with. They don't skimp on the meatloaf either.

I get Charlie's homemade delicious soup's maybe 1-2 per week for lunch because I work downtown. Today I had the beef barley vegetable and it is the best soup I've ever had- hands down! Super fresh & flavorful, huge chunks of tender beef. Highly recommend this place! You can tell they put a lot of care and time into what they serve.

Yes it's that good! My hubs and the boys all got beef on the weck which is roast beef, thinly sliced, and put in a nice roll. They offer several types of fries too: fries with country gravy, sweet potato fries and potato wedges.

I had the pork on wick. Sadly was having a late lunch and the beef on wick was sold out.That said pork was great very tender

Went for the Original Beef on Weck. Got there at the end of their day, it was not the best Beef on weck I ever had, but it was still good.

I had the pork on wick. Sadly was having a late lunch and the beef on wick was sold out.That said pork was great very tender

Roast beef was medium well, not rare as shown in the picture. Very disappointing. Was still flavorful and not dry though.

I pull a very tough inedible slice of beef out with each bite that ends up spit into the container and then in the trash. This has been 4 sandwiches. The sandwiches also seems quite flavorless lately (dont think I have corona). Won't be going back..

I was denied a sample under the assumption I wasn’t going to purchase—after I had already sampled everything and was deciding. The tone, the judgment, and the lack of respect were unnecessary and unprofessional. When corporate followed up, I was asked what I wanted—a loaded question that felt more like a formality than a genuine attempt to make things right. I offered a calm, thoughtful response and was met with disinterest. That said it all. It’s not about the sample. It’s about how customers are treated. One bad experience ruined years of loyalty. I no longer support Charlie’s—and I don’t need to. I can make the food myself.
