Had two lovely fish fries. The option of having onion rings instead of french fries and a lovely salad with choice of dressing was a nice touch. Perhaps a little more expensive than the norm at $23 but considering our world today not out of line. Everything was delicious hot and ample. I had a request for my cocktail to be made exactly as I liked and it did not disappoint. I will come back!
So upon hearing mixed reviews and looking for a place with a great view we decided to give the it a try. We arrived early for our reservation and decided to go out to the patio to enjoy a drink. As I'm sure it always is with nice weather it was bustling with people and had a live band. Being so the the music was nice, even though a little loud which i guess can be expected. When it was time for our reservation we moved inside to have a great evening. Our waiter Jeffery was very patient with us as we were engaged in conversation and not paying so much attention to ordering. He was very polite, knowledge of the menu and specials. Jeffery seem to really be on point and knows how to create the experience. The restaurant has a nice atmosphere all around and our meals were delicious. We thank Templeton Landing and Jeffery for a great evening. Would definitely recommend and partake in the experience again.
Food was great! My wife and I order spinach artichoke dip as an appetizer and 2 fish fry entries. The spinach artichoke dip was served with deep fried pita bread "chips" and just that alone was filling and we couldn't finish it. I believe that appetizer could easily be shared with 4-5 people. When our fish fry came out to the table we were shocked by the size of the fish that they gave us. The fish was served on a bed french fries (very good and crispy) and it also came with coleslaw, ketchup, and tarter sauce. The fish was fried to perfection in my opinion and the fish was very flaky. Plus to top it all off we ate on the deck outside with the great view of the water. So if you're in the mood for good food and great service head over to Templeton Landing Restaurant.
I got married at Templeton Landing this past weekend and I could not be happier with how everything went. I toured the location about 9 months ago and from the initial meeting to the end Jessica was so helpful and accommodating. We had such an amazing meal during our tasting and it made it so exciting to look forward to. Jessica was so on top of everything, in the weeks leading up to the wedding we went over every detail that was itemized in a very organized way. Jessica allowed us to begin dropping off some of the decor as early as Monday for a Saturday wedding. We also had planned on doing a rehearsal the night before which Jessica led us and organized the group to what we could expect the next day. The ceremony and cocktail hour were perfect. We lucked out with the weather in late September as it was warm with a breeze and then cooled to a perfect fall night. I had given Jessica a detailed list of decor and where it should be located. She ensured that all my visions were met and confirmed any items that were unclear. She was responsive to my moving schedule and continuously met my every request. Templeton accommodated the Chiavari chairs, the extensive options for linen colors and additional decor such as pillar vases with candles everywhere. The wait staff was absolutely lovely, they were professional and friendly. For a group of 160+ everyone was well taken care of. Our bartender John was wonderful, he made sure to come to our table first and was incredibly accommodating with the never ending drink requests. All in all, we had the best day of our life. The location with the water in the background made for some incredible photos and a breathtaking view of the sunset. There was plenty of parking and for a downtown location, centrally located it was very easy for our guests to find. Working with Jessica made things stress free and her pleasant and positive demeanor. I highly recommend Templeton Landing, their various room options made our weekend so incredibly beautiful!
Everything about our night out was wonderful at The Templeton Landing. Great apps, great drinks, amazing food and the views were perfect with the sun setting. Our waitress made note that dinner service may be lagged slightly due to some new chefs in training, and helped space our appetizers to dinner perfectly. We did not feel rushed or overwhelmed. The day was unfortunately chilly (June), and we opted to sit inside. Window seats were perfect. We will be back again!
We went to this beautiful restaurant on last Sunday afternoon. The view is spectacular as well as the restaurant. We had the best fish and chips in the city. It was a very busy restaurant everyone was so busy but they behaved very well specially manager Raj was awesome.
I've been on the patio bar in the past and think it's a beautiful location with a really fun atmosphere, although the prices are a bit high. I understand the location definitely calls for higher prices, but it's difficult to stay for an entire evening when the prices are so high. Recently I went to a wedding at Templeton and it was just lovely. It was a large wedding, but the staff did an amazing job of serving and taking care if the guests. The restrooms we're kept clean and the wedding seemed to go on without a hitch as far as the guest could tell.
I took my girlfriend here for her birthday and we loved it. It's very hard to make a good fish fry that's really thick, in my opinion. But Templeton Landing has one of the best fish frys I've ever had. The prices are surprisingly affordable as well. Not cheap, but not a place that will break the bank. The drinks were really good. The staff is very friendly too. The waitress we had didn't come to our table as often as other waitresses had gone to their respective tables, so that is the only thing I could say would've needed improvement. But, my girlfriend and I will definitely be going back soon.
I have quite a bit of experience with Templeton Landing now and it has been universally positive. As a restaurant the main attraction is the patio, with wonderful views of the Buffalo Harbor and lake. The food is always well prepared and tasty. The menu is not the most imaginative in Western NY, but the preparation of each dish is never lacking. I also held my wedding here in 2018, and would rate it higher than 5 stars if possible. The experience was flawless, starting with their event team who were extremely helpful during the planning process. On the day of the food, bar, and staff were excellent as well. The food and ambiance were of particular note, providing some of the best value available. Many other venues struggled to impress as much despite charging higher prices.
Our first time at Templeton, and our whole experience was excellent! From the welcome we received at the desk from the two accommodating young men there, to the very friendly gentleman who took us to our seat and then continued to stop by during our meal to see how we were doing, to our wonderful attentive waitress who kept a close eye on us and was so quick to get anything we needed, and the young man who brought our food out and stopped back later to see if we enjoyed it and our drinks! We felt like we got the absolute best customer service we had seen in many years at a dining experience, and to find such a gem in our own backyard was a surprise which we wished we had discovered sooner! Our food was delicious and abundant, fully worth the cost, you won't leave hungry here, and it's presentation was clearly given thought. And the drinks! They were very well-crafted, with some unique choices on the menu and were a very good size with plenty of kick for the price. Nothing watered-down here. The view of the waterfront and city hall was stunning, both from inside tables, the bar, as well as from the large outdoor deck. All-around an excellent 5-star experience, even on a holiday. Great job Templeton, we can't wait to return!
My husband and I began looking for venues for an intimate summer wedding of 35 people back in January. Our ideals included: waterfront view, amazing food, and showing up that day with little to no responsibility for decorating or preparations. We wanted the day to be relaxing and stress-free for ourselves and our families. We were looking for a venue that felt really special, felt like we were really treating ourselves to a beautiful meal in a beautiful place on the ultimate date-night. The day of the wedding, the Marina Room was set up beautifully. While my mother did decide to make centerpieces for us, we absolutely did not have to do that: Templeton’s had elegant minimalist options that would have been perfect. We were permitted to bring in a guitarist who played while guests were arriving and through cocktail hour. We were permitted to play our own music over our personal speaker, as long as it wasn’t so loud that other restaurant guests were disrupted (no one asked us to turn ours down). Jessica was there to help direct everything on the day of. She helped us put together our timeline for the day to include all the traditional wedding things - a first dance, cutting our cake (which was beautiful and absolutely delicious), the mother-son dance. The servers that evening were stellar - a nice surprise was that the appetizers were passed and not set up on a table like we had thought they would be. The servers never stopped moving - constantly checking in with new food throughout the cocktail hour. Once dinner was served, Jessica helped direct guests to serve themselves. Somehow, the food served that evening wasn’t exactly what we had originally picked to serve, but the guests told us repeatedly how spectacular the food was and that’s all that mattered to us. After dinner and speeches, Jessica helped us move all our tables to the side and remove some chairs to make a little dance floor in the room. There were maybe 15 people who were dancing and we had the absolute best time. The bartender was fantastic, the signature drinks that Jessica arranged for us to have were amazing, and the cleanup was minimal. All around, our experience with Templeton’s was amazing from beginning to end. It made for the most perfect wedding day, we couldn’t have imagined how perfect it ended up being. Jessica is fantastic to work with, so kind and accommodating and professional - she really knows her stuff. She answered so many emails and questions from us that she should probably get some kind of award. The other staff in the restaurant was also incredibly kind - we couldn’t believe how nice everyone was, from the greeters to the bartenders outside to the servers in the restaurant when we were cleaning up. The restaurant felt romantic, elegant, and overall so charming. I believe the price we paid for the event we had was quite possibly the deal of the century - we certainly received our money’s worth, and they exceeded our expectations in every way. Compared to other venues in the area, Templeton is by far the most bang for your buck. I cannot recommend Templeton’s enough - thank you so much for making our wedding day the most perfect day ever. I wish we could go back and do it all again!
Best waterfront restaurant in buffalo. Enjoy our time with friends. Food and service were great. Live music was fantastic as well. Overall Templeton Landing is the place where we can enjoy our summer evening by the water with variety food and drinks. 🫶
Went there Saturday, it was unusually slow, probably because of the fair and other things going on at the time. There was only one waitress working at the time, and she did great, but probably could have used some help. The food was excellent. It looks like a place that should be far more expensive than it actually is
I had my daughter's baby shower there this past Sunday. Sunny day and a beautiful view of the boats and marina. To top it off, the food was fabulous, every guest raved about our event. Could not have asked for a better experience, would gladly use them again!!!
I was there a couple weeks ago had nachos and roast beef. The food was good, Service was great! My servers name was Kristie Kardos, we sat in the restaurant because it was a bit chilly outside! I will definitely be back!
We came here for my moms birthday and everything was amazing! Our waitress Bella was fantastic! She was very polite, friendly and very knowledgeable! They were out of a drink and she recommended a drink comparable! The outdoor patio was cozy and the view was beautiful! All the staff was phenomenal! I believe it was the manager who was so friendly walking around checking on tables making sure everyone was ok. He even was helping the girls bring food out! The food and drinks were amazing! We will definite be back soon! Thanks for a great evening!
My Mom and I had thee best time here. The fish and shrimp was perfectly made and our Waitress Kristie was soo accommodating. She even gave us the inside scoop on all the Kool live bands coming. We will be back again and we will personally request Kristie because she is a whole vibe !! ❣️
It was my mother’s anniversary! She chose templetons to celebrate. Chris was our waitress and she did not disappoint. She gave us laughs and a great customer service experience. The food was excellent too. I recommend the Dave margarita and the haddock sandwich, thank me later!
Our dining experience at Templeton Landing Restaurant & Special Events was absolutely phenomenal! We were warmly greeted by the friendly and professional staff, with special mention to Raj, the manager, who ensured every detail of our visit was perfect. The food was simply divine. We started with the nachos, which were loaded with all the right toppings and perfectly crisp. The shrimp was succulent and fresh, while the fish and chips were delightfully crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. The burgers were juicy and packed with flavor, making it a memorable meal for everyone in our group. The ambiance of the restaurant, combined with the exceptional service, made our evening truly special. Raj went above and beyond to check on us multiple times and make sure we were enjoying our meal. His dedication to customer satisfaction is evident and much appreciated. We highly recommend Templeton Landing for both its exquisite cuisine and top-notch service. We will definitely be returning soon!
I hosted a sweet 16 party here and my experience was great. The staff met all of our needs and were very nice. They had a lot of patience for the teenagers "being teenagers" lol. The room we had was perfect. The staff set the tables up even better than requested, and they cleaned everything up for us. The food was typical for a party space, we had the sliders and fries station and drinks. Everyone made my vision come to life. And the price was great. I definitely recommend for an event space.
We Celebrated my birthday at Templeton Landing yesterday. We had the nachos, hot bites and smash burger The food was delicious! The drinks were great too. Our server Christy was Awesome! She stopped by every few minutes to check on us. She was so friendly and personable, she’s the Best!
Last weekend, I had the pleasure of dining at Templeton Restaurant and it was an experience to remember. Nestled in the buffalo bustling downtown area, this restaurant offers an exquisite blend of ambiance, exceptional service, and mouth-watering cuisine. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with warm smiles by Manager Raj and promptly seated. The interior decor is a perfect balance of modern elegance and cozy comfort, making it an ideal spot for both casual meals and special occasions. The menu is a delightful journey through a diverse array of flavors. Templeton is a culinary gem that offers a remarkable dining experience. The combination of top-notch cuisine, superb service, and inviting atmosphere makes it a must-visit destination. Whether you're a local or just passing through Buffalo downtown, make sure to reserve a table at this outstanding restaurant. You won't be disappointed!
I came here this past Friday and had Desi as a server. She was amazing and accommodated all of my requests with ease. I ended up ordering the wings and a smash burger and they were so good! Unfortunately, while I was there, a table next to me decided it was appropriate to be disrespectful and rude to the server and while something like that can put a damper on others experiences, it was handled so well by Desi. I don’t know what they’re paying that girl, but I can guarantee it’s not enough to put up with that the way she did. 10/10 service and 10/10 recommend giving her a raise! I’m not in the area frequently, but when I’m back, I will definitely be returning here for dinner.
I was at Templeton Landing this past week and let me tell you what a gem this restaurant is. The food was fantastic! I had the Best of Buffalo Burger and my wife had the Haddock Sandwich!! Very tasty and inexpensive. Our server was very personable and attentive. The Bar staff was incredible and made some of the best cocktails I have ever had! I highly recommend this restaurant! Service, food, views, all phenomenal!!
Templeton Landing Restaurant & Special Events offers a charming waterfront dining experience with fresh, flavorful dishes and attentive service. The atmosphere is elegant yet relaxed, perfect for both casual meals and special occasions. With scenic views, well-prepared cuisine, and a welcoming staff, it’s a dependable choice for memorable dining or hosting events in a picturesque setting.
My experience at this place was truly outstanding. The moment I arrived, the warm atmosphere set the tone for a wonderful meal. The team showed remarkable attention, offering quick, friendly service that made me feel welcome right away. Every dish carried rich flavors and was presented with care, turning the entire evening into something special. I left feeling fully satisfied and excited to return again.
Celebrating my birthday at Templeton Landing was a joyous experience. Located in Buffalo New York, the restaurant's ambiance strikes a perfect balance between elegance and warmth. From the moment we arrived, the staff, especially the host and our server made us feel incredibly welcome. Our server guided us through a delightful menu, recommending standout dishes like the oysters and bbq ribs each one a culinary delight. The attention to detail in presentation and flavor was remarkable. Overall, my dining experience was exceptional. The combination of impeccable service, delightful ambiance, and outstanding food made my birthday celebration truly memorable. I highly recommend it for any special occasion or for a remarkable dining experience.
We held the rehearsal dinner for our son and future daughter-in-law here last weekend. The room, attached bar and outside area could not have been better. The food was delicious and service was perfect. Jessica our coordinator and Roz( Debashis Das) our point person for our event went above and beyond. The bride and groom were pleased along with all our guests.
The is a buffalo must. Perfect location for a view and an after dinner walk along the water. Food is suburb, tastes fantastic and of high quality. Atmosphere is relaxing and serene. Our server was Tony, he was so personable and made for a wonderful experience. We will be back for more!
There was a wedding going on at the same time and some singer cami cone, performing so staff was stretched thin. Even so, food was good. ( couple of bugs landed on the wife's food, can't blame them for that.) Would like to see what it like on a calmer day.
my wife & i, as well with a family member, attended an evening (Sneaker Ball) event that excluded such an embellished menu, unfortunately. the experience in ambiance of this venue was expressive we'll surely return for another happening
Had a great time when we came this past Saturday. Food was pretty good and the view was stunning. Only downside was the fact that there was a mix up on my order twice. I had ordered the chicken sandwich and I get brought a fish, no biggy I simply tell them that I ordered a chicken sandwhich and get told by the waitress that I had said fish (know for a fact I didn’t I don’t like fish at all and my partner even told me he heard me say chicken). Anyways they bring me the new meal that’s supposed to be my chicken sandwich but instead some girl comes and brings me a fish sandwich. At this point I’m just baffled that I had to say chicken twice just to get fish. Anyways the actual waitress comes back and realizes that the person brought me the wrong order and mine was sitting there ready the whole time and brings it for me. Not the end of the world and I get mistakes happen and I’m sure they were just tired or had their mind elsewhere.
A lovely spot on the water for great happy hour and snacks deals outdoors in the sunshine. My brother got married here. The food was quite good, as I recall. When it's too cool for the patio (or if it is inundated with bees, as it was when I came here last. Only reason for deduction on atmosphere), the bar has full windows looking out at the water. A solid place I had almost forgotten, but grateful to have found again.
The atmosphere is always great. The music (especially the 80's music), the live bands and the fire pits are great! The silverware was very dirty. Had to send it back and ask for hot water and lemon. Overall, it's a nice place to go to relax, unwind and enjoy after long work week. With only a couple of hiccups this visit; I love the Templeton Landing. Hope they bring old events back, like the holiday buffets (fathers Day, mother's day, etc.) Those were great!
i love the burgers here, so tender, so flavorful, with a nice char grilling on it. Lovely patio right on the lake with gas fireplaces, perfect for watching sunsets. The interior also has a nice atmosphere, not too bright, with mirrored booths on the outer wall , and decent spacing between tables for privacy. Fantastic fish fry, fish is never slimy, batter is nice and crunchy. Tartar sauce is fantastic. The fries are frozen, but they do have a nice garlic aioli that makes it tolerable. Cocktails are great. Ribs were tough and fatty, flavor was decent but definitely not tender at all and not a high quality cut of meat. The Buffalo gold cheese curd appetizer was rather bland, the cheese was very chewy. Would not order that again. The hot bites pierogi appetizer is deep fried and the texture was pretty tough, flavor was mediocre. Would not order that again either.
Great outdoor seating! Good cocktails, great shrimp and good food. I will say 2 events were going on when we went and may have caused a fair bit of slow down which is fine but I would think it would've been accounted for. Took a good while to get drinks and food. Again they were busy and I'm sure understaffed but it still happened. A live band came near the end but definitely too loud and glad to we left in time.
There is a difference between making a reservation and sitting on the self seat deck ..it is like one side of the tracks versus the other ..the deck was dirty palstic tables the other was metal clean tables ..with umbrellas ..the deck side is a kind of like bring the kids have a beer and a burger ..with a limited menu ...make the reservation!! .it would be that much better ..I did not ..all things considered the waitress was prompt polite and fun ...food and drinks came fast .. Tasted good
This place has an outstanding view of the lake and the service was friendly however, there were a few things that weren’t great. The drinks that they could make were good but the bar seemed to be lacking some basics like olives and a specific liquor that was featured in their cocktails. The food, over all, was tasty but I found my fish wasn’t prepared correctly. I got the pan seared lake perch and each of the 3 pieces had all of the pin bones in it still. That really ruined my ability to just enjoy the food. It did taste good so that was a plus. Overall, I’d go back for the views but not set too high of expectations on food and drink.
Happy Hour here is great. And the food was pretty good, I would definitely go here again just because it’s waterside. Management is awful though. It’s been 3 business days and nobody responded to my email of them overcharging me so I had to just dispute the $22. And who I assume is the manager clearly and loudly scolded our extremely busy server right next to our table. The whole business is customer service and it’s just lacking.
The outdoor lakeside scenery is awesome. I've been here before and really enjoyed it. This time I took my daughter here for her college graduation dinner and was disappointed, to be honest. The carpet was worn out, they were completely understaffed...I know there are staffing issues. However, then don't take two big parties and then multiple indoor and outdoor table reservations. The one party was positioned behind a curtain and their noise overtook our evening out. I feel like the poor waitress had almost all of the tables, both inside and out. She was running around. We had 2 napkins and 2 plates to share our appetizers. After over an hour our food came out and it was so so, as the menu was very limited. All in all we made the best of it, but I don't think I'd go back too soon until I knew the menu was altered and especially not before September, when I anticipate the worker shortage will be over.
Restaurant needs a good spanking! Location is great. Potential is amazing! We went out to have a nice dinner last night and we all didn't enjoy waiting... Our server was very nice and we didn't blame her at all. We got water and menus in 5 minutes. Ordered our drinks and appetizers. Drinks came in 30 minutes Appetizers came in 1hr 10 minutes. Main course 1hr 30 minutes. They were under staffed and kitchen couldn't keep up with orders. Outside atmosphere was very nice and live music was amazing! Our food was good and main course was also good..not great! I gave 3 stars because they need to improve big time. People in Buffalo NY have many places to go to and eat. Better solution should be found fast, since this place only open in a summer ☀️. We will not recommend this place until they do something great to serve drinks in less than 15 minutes and food in about 35 to 45 minutes. This place has so much potential and its not being utilized. Best of luck!
This was the first time being here, We came in and the host had us wait and watch while he cleaned our table but Allison our server made the experience! my boyfriend and i came for drinks and an appetizer. The bar was busy so our drinks came a little late but our server gave us a heads up and offered to put our next drink in early so it would come on time! She helped pick our drinks and the appetizer! The food and drinks she helped us pick were phenomenal! Our experience wasn’t the best but Allison made it better :) Will definitely stop back in hopes to have Allison again!
We took our boat to the Dock @ Templeton Landing. Previously you could grab a table and sit by / at the bar. instead we needed to go inside to see the host. The menu has changed since our last trip there. The location is great, the view is terrific, but sadly it's lost some of it's luster. There were plenty of servers when we went, but too often they were congregating inside of the outdoor wait staff area (on phone or chatting), so service was slower then would be ideal. We ordered (10) wings hot and crispy and instead received (5) medium (debatable) and (5) BBQ. They were good but not crispy nor what we actually ordered. We also got a side of plain fries and they cost $10 which seemed excessive for what was received. I'm not one to send food back as I worked in the industry. Drinks were mostly reasonable, but plastic cups (as outside). Not classy for craft cocktails. High Noon's were only $5 which wasn't bad. Overall it was a good experience, but not great. Hoping they can get this back to what it was in it's prime. We will likely give it a shot another time and see if it's any better (later in the year).
The restaurant really needs to figure out how to coordinate live music with reservations better! Not to mention they were also hosting a wedding reception! At this rate you can’t do both! This slowed down service immensely! It took approximately 25 minutes for both of our drinks to come out. Another 25-30 minutes for just an appetizer to come out! The firecracker shrimp tasted good but not $16 good. It also lacked a decent presentation. It almost took an hour for the entrees to come out and we ordered fish sandwiches. The fish lacked flavor and neither plate had tartar sauce. Another letdown is we wanted to sit outside because it was sunny with a nice breeze, however they seemed to run out of umbrellas so what could have been a relaxing outdoor dinner turned into us baking in the sun. I would highly recommend if you offer outdoor seating to have enough umbrellas for the amount of tables you have outside. During our visit we did see other people leave due to extended wait times or have to move inside due to lack of shade. I will say the upside of our visit was our amazing server. Her name was Allison and although it didn’t work out for us she truly went above and beyond to make our experience better even though she had plenty of other tables. Thank you Allison! Food: 2/5 Service: 5/5 (all thanks to Allison) Atmosphere: 3/5 (cooking in the sun is not fun!!)
So we came to this awesome property which we have been to before. We asked for a table on the patio, fine, 26 minute wait. Went to the patio bar. Service there was impeccable. Waited 30 minutes. Got call for our table. No shade, it’s 80 degrees and hot! Other people who came after us are seated on shaded areas. We went back to the patio bar because those in charge of seating don’t have a clue!!! Ended up ordering food from the bar and sat at a lovely umbrella table at the bar. Bartenders took care of us and all was perfect!! Cudos to the patio bartenders! You blew it out of the park!! Made the rest of the restaurant staff look like amateurs!!!
5/21/21- had a 5:30 reservation for happy hour but decided to stay for dinner because the views were nice. Big mistake. Drinks were mediocre at best. Appetizers were cold. Do not get the raw oysters! They were so small and not cleaned at all. Entrees were nothing to write home about but I will say the salmon on top of the Caesar salad was pretty good. They have happy hour drink and food specials and our server rang up the bill full price and seemed confused when we asked him to fix it. Only thing nice about this place were the views and the hostesses who took pictures for us and were very polite. Got pictures of the view so won’t be returning.
We were a party of 5 adults and 1 child. The service deserves a failing grade. They may have been short handed but no excuse that it takes 30 minutes for each part of our dining experience. 30 minutes before we see a server, 30 minutes then to get our drinks with happy hour about to expire. Took 30 minutes for the appetizer and an hour for our main meals. And then to get check took very long. The quality of food was fine, which gives the rating I put. But 5:15 reservations that took until 8:00 to complete should not be acceptable and the fact that two tables seated after us, one involving a party 12 left before us! At this time, I will not recommend this place to others!
We had a fairly large group and two people, of the group, were able to get a cocktail before dinner. The rest of us, the bartender ignored, which was very odd, so we all gave up after standing at the bar for 15-20 minutes with no service. As for dinner, the people who ordered steaks and burgers didn’t even finish their meals because everything was over cooked and dry. It was not an enjoyable experience at all.
Menu selection is mediocre. Food was 🤢 and different options between outside & inside. No crab dip as the cook was waiting for the recipe to be sent to him loll Frozen cocktails are premade with the alcohol, and not available until happy hour. Would not recommend this restaurant to anyone. Felt bad for the waitress having to cover for the restaurant.
The setting is beautiful. I only got a beet salad, which was good, but not like it's a difficult plate. My issue was that I showed up for lunch on Thursday at 12:45 and, once seated, no one acknowledged me for 15 minutes. I finally stopped a waitress to ask for a server. She was dismissive of my request since I was not her customer. 5 minutes later someone finally approached me (I was about to leave). In all I was there for over an hour and ate for all of about 5 minutes, as I only ordered the salad because I needed to catch a plane. Their staff is very pretty, but their youth does not lend well to customer service. Maybe train for a little more taking action and ownership, rather than just taking direction.
My experience was awful. The table was dirty and the service was terrible. My fiance ordered French onion soup and a steak salad. I ordered clams on the half shell and fresh Lake Perch. My clams came with the meal and they were steamed. The waitress argued with me that they were raw. I sent them back to be taken off the bill. She paid little attention to us. Never came back to see if we wanted more beverages. It wasn't crowded and a limited menu so no excuse there. Beautiful waterfront setting but I'll find another one. I won't be going back anytime soon.
We usually like it here! But we recently went and it was a mess. One server for the entire patio, she did the best she could but we received no silverware or plates, even after our appetizers came out… we had to get up to ask a host to bring us silverware and plates. The 3 drinks we got tasted horrible, just straight liquor hahah. Tacos we got said they came with sour cream and pico de gallo and salsa. All of that was missing so it was just chicken and lettuce. Very bland… won’t be going back this summer
Food was mediocre and the kitchen was veryyy slow and service was unfriendly. It's a shame because their outside atmosphere is always great. Get a drink at the outside bar and enjoy the view, that's about all they're good for until their dinner service improves tremendously.
We went for my Wife's birthday Reagan's we ate inside because it was looking like rain outside Kim, our waitress was very kind, we had other people helping us as well because she was the only waitress, the attention to detail and attention to our table was limited. The food was just okay half, the food was missing off the menu because the whoever ordered didn't do enough ordering. To be honest with you, we were disappointed from the other time. As my son is bent to the restaurant, it really has gone down. Hill, we wish we could have a better review. But unfortunately, our experience was not as we planned. And he felt bad that he brought us to this venue for her birthday. Unfortunately, we will not be returning good luck.
I had reservations at 6:30pm for a party of 15-20 people. As soon as waitress came out, she said it would be about an hour for our food because they were behind in orders. We got drinks and appetizers. After about an hour and a half, the waitress took our dinner order. She started bringing out orders at 9:15pm, all by herself. No one helped her. The manager brought out one dish after the waitress made about 5 or 6 trips to bring the orders out. Mind you, the restaurant closed at 10, so some of us rushed to eat, and some of us got the food to go. The food wasn't even hot when they brought it out. I have been here before, and had a good experience, but the fact that they knew they had a big party coming in because I made the reservations three weeks ahead, they should have been prepared. After talking to the manager, he offered 10% off, but after complaining some more, our bill was taken down half. We gave the waitress a good tip because it wasn't her fault.
unfortunately the food wasn't great. the chicken wings were all misshapen and not cut right (extra bones sticking out) and there were feathers still on one of them. we also ordered the chicken sandwich and it was cold and dry. the service was ok, but they tried to charge us for something we ordered but they said they were out of so we didn't get it. they did at least comp the sandwich, and the drinks were good. overall probably wouldn't come back here. 6/10
This venue should've done way better for the bride & groom that chose this venue for their reception. Guests had to go get their own chairs out of a closet for cocktail hour on the roof. Only a couple tables were set up. No cover on a hot sunny day up on the roof there. Some salads came with no dressing. Well over an hour later before dinner was served to guests. Wrong meals on the place cards, that weren't even set on the tables. Not enough vegetarian meals. Some had to wait for extra vegetarian meals to be cooked. Family was scrambling last minute to do things the venue failed to do. No hot water for tea. Had to get hot water from the bathroom. Let the coffee & cups run out. The waitstaff did their best & and were curtious. This venue should reimburse the beautiful bride & groom. This is in no way faulting the bride & groom. They deserved way better than what they received from this venue. They had two events going on that same time & clearly were not able to handle it.
We asked for the steak well-done it is burnt, the Brussels sprouts over chard, broccoli way too salty and the drinks just plain thumbs down, watery. Other than that the view is nice. I would’ve taken a picture of the brussels sprouts but they took them away till soon. Needless to say I would not come back. The waitress was very sweet and nice!!!
Celebrating with 12 family members for a very special event and the service was the very worst I have ever experienced. We had a reservation so one would expect they would be prepared. We were served incorrect food orders in 4 shifts and it took 2.5 hours. We spoke with the waitress and manager several times but they could not get our food and drink to us in an organized and timely manner. We had small children with us so paid the bill quickly and left. The food was good however we were double charged on many items and did not notice the errors until later. We were very upset that not only was the joy taken from our family eating dinner together but we were exponentially overcharged. Made a call and was told to come back for free food in the future. I will take the loss and never return.
First time, last time. Seemed like a good spot for seafood. Crab cakes, oysters and shrimp cocktail were sold out. We got the wings while we regrouped, took 30 mins and they were brought by the host as our waitress was m.i.a. and he noticed we were the only table without food. Wings were good; not great. We planned to order a main but the aforementioned missing waitress made that impossible. Left hungry, annoyed and shocked at our $32 bill for wings and a ginger ale. Having a view is great, but the restaurant was lousy.
Terrible Left behind a full burger, did not appear to be edible. Place looked as if it wasn't cleaned from the night before. Similar to other reviews, visited in the past and thoroughly enjoyed the experience - can't say that was the case on this occasion. Will not return.
So bummed to say it, but this place has gone downhill since we were last here a few years ago. Not sure if it’s new management or what - but it’s turned into a dump. Had reservations for a group and ended up needing to drop down 2 people the day of. We felt we were a huge inconvenience as we awkwardly waited for the servers to rearrange our table (which seemed like it would’ve made things easier?). We were told there were “many” large parties at the same time and the restaurant was more than half empty. Cobwebs were hanging everywhere, in very obvious need of the most basic cleaning. Wine was poured inconsistently, some received what seemed like half a glass when others received more. Odd. Food was not good, sadly. Too salty and buttery. Service was super slow, and it felt odd to see waitresses getting themselves ready in the bathroom before their shift. So sad - this place was a gem now it just feels runned-down and in need of major TLC. Landscaping couldn’t even be bothered to be up-kept. Save your money and go someone where else.
Horrible!! QB said she thought the waitress was prejudiced because she was black; let me tell you I am white and they treated us the same way!! I got up and ordered my own drinks/food. The only good thing by there was the bartender Mary and the waterfront. I will not be going back….
I was told this restaurant was one of the nicest spots down by the water… but I disagree… the problem is the staff(understaffed ) from what I can tell. The entire experience felt rush from apps to drinks to the main meal… we arrived at a decent time made reservations and I was looking forward to eating good food and have good drinks at a nice restaurant.. that wasn’t the case…. The fact that the restaurant advertises oysters, fresh oysters, and fresh crabcakes and calamari is exciting for any seafood lover….. They didn’t have calamari they were out of the crabcakes and the oysters that were supposedly fresh smelled like lake Erie on steroids… There were no sauces not even horseradish. We were handed a crusty bottle of hot sauce and ketchup for the oysters. We did not eat the oysters they were inedible. I would let this Restaurant prove me wrong that they can do better than what they did on a Friday night then I would return other than that I will never be returning… ohhhh and the bill was over $200…. which isn’t a problem, but for the quality of the food and the lack of service, our food was cold. Don’t waist your time or money!
Went there 6/22/2024 … the food / service horrible. My husband and friend got the roast beef … couldn’t even eat it. It was a weird odd color … smelled and tasted bad. Took forever to get drinks. Sad part is that it wasn’t even busy. Too bad … this place has a fantastic location but food horrible. Definitely will not be going back
As we walked into the restaurant, the entrance was not maintained. The coi pond was dirty, empty beer bottle by the front door and cigarette bin by the door was full. The service was poor. Only one waitress for the entire patio. Was served a unfrozen strawberry mararietta twice , then didn't get a drink until meal was served. Unfortunately I could go on but I think I made my point. Save your money.
We went there for our anniversary and had been there before for cocktails and beautiful sunset so I was excited to get there for dinner. We got there early and were seated immediately which was wonderful. Our waitress seemed a little scattered but we overlooked that. It took her a while to get our drinks to us and take our order. We ordered the clam chowder which was just warm and then I ordered the crab cakes and a side salad and my husband had the perch. After waiting over an hour for our main entrees, during which our waitress served another large group which came in AFTER us, we still hadn't received our meals yet and I asked the host to send the manager over to us. Our food was then served by another server and no manager visit. The one bite of perch I tried from my husband's plate had a bone in it and is was cold and dried out and I was served ONE crab cake for $21!! (The online menu says "cakes", but the in-house menu was singular) Still no visit from our waitress or the manager and now we're waiting again for the bill and by this time my husband just wanted to leave. I again asked the host to see a manager who finally came up front and after explaining my side she said she would adjust the bill. Then, here comes our waitress with our bill, the full bill, and asked how our evening was. What a joke. Luckily the manager made it mostly right but we will definitely not be going back there again.
I came here for the sneaker ball 3/8/25 went to buy drinks only to see a cash bar only sign i went to the atm to take out $80 since i had no cash. Had to pay a $3 fee but whatever plus my bank charged me $3 foreign atm charge. Well to my surprise the atm said it gave me $60 but only actually gave me $40 i stood there for a minute waiting for the other $20 to drop but never did. I reached out to security & bar tenders who went to speak to the owner i was told that the $60 charge would drop off & the actual $40 i received would post instead. Well that Tuesday 3/11/25 it posted to my account that i got $60 which i didn’t. Reached out to the atm people who tried to convince me i got $60 told him i didn't he said he would have to contact the company and count the money to see if that was accurate well it’s 3/16/25 i still have yet to hear anything nor have i received my $20 back i have no reason to lie plus its a camera right there. I took pictures at the atm cause it was error screen after that one one else was able to use it the rest of the night even took a picture of the $40 in front of the machine for the simple fact it said i received $60 which i didn’t
The restaurant was disorganized and poorly managed. After waiting 20 minutes to be seated with a reservation, then waiting another 25 minutes for a server, we left after we overheard the server say it would be 40 minutes for a drink or an appetizer. They were not equipped to handle a beautiful summer night in Buffalo.
We had a special occasion today after an inner harbor boat ride, so we made a 5:30pm reservation here. Upon arriving at the restaurant, we were informed by the maitre'd that they were having a private event and weren't honoring any reservations!! They wouldn't even let us sit at the bar. So we ended up having to walk over to Pearl St Brewery, where we had a great time. We will never return to this restaurant ever again. We even had our 25th wedding anniversary celebration here some time ago and spent a few thousand dollars. We refuse to spend another penny at a place that lacks basic respect and consideration for their customers. NEVER AGAIN.
I made a reservation a month ago for lunch. When we got there, found out that the entire inside was booked for parties and only seating was outside. With the extremely high winds that day, we couldn't even look at a menu outside. Maybe the staff should have been more considerate to those who they could have contacted with reservations to let us know that outside was only seating available and with high winds, give us the option to still come or not. Instead we went all the way there and ended up leaving to go somewhere else. Poor service. I could not rate the food because the poor service didn't give me the opportunity to do so.
I’m really sad to see what happened to this business. This Used to be one of my favorite summer time restaurants. We waited 45 minutes just for our waitress to take our drink order. That was after 30 minutes waiting for a table with a reservation. Our food AND DRINKS came an hour after sitting at the table. Our appetizers never even came, then they brought 2 of the same thing we ordered, wrong things etc. We watched many people walk out upset. I heard women complain in the bathroom how they should just leave. We even saw a couple walk out and say they’re done waiting for the bill. I watched a hostess and a waitress get yelled at by frustrated people. We had to walk up and get our own silverware we saw sitting on a waitresses tray they left out. We had 0 napkins i thankfully had wipes from my baby. The food did come out hot and good but that’s not even worth it! The kicker is I saw they had open reservations every 15 minutes still when we finally left. We never even received half of our food we just asked for them to take it off the bill. I feel so bad for the staff. I can guarantee they lost out on many cash tips. I can’t even imagine how much food was wasted by the chaos also. It’s was the most sloppy establishment I’ve ever saw ran. I’m not even sure I’d give them a second chance with how terrible it was. The owner should probably not have brand new staff alone on Memorial Day weekend, we had 1 girl not even know what drinks they had as she was on her first day and clearly overwhelmed and the host told my husband it was her second day and possibly last. Also maybe close reservations and turn people away so the people that are waiting to sit and eat actually can.
What is going on with this place? Buffalo's premier waterfront location is going to waste. Patio bar not open, no band schedule on their website. Templeton has been in decay for years now, probably close to 8 years or more. The city of Buffalo should pull their lease. Appears to have no functional management. It takes a certain type of management to operate a Waterfront Restaurant, and it's obvious they do not. It appears they only care about the weddings and few events they host and nothing else. It's sad.
We had a reservation for 5:30, never been here before. They have a pretty small menu. We tried to order coffee but they were out; loganberry but they were out; crab bites but they were out. We ordered 2 taco dishes which are supposed to be served with chips and salsa. The taco dishes come to the table with just chips. Guess where the salsa was. It was out! Had the server told us that when we ordered, we would have ordered something else. Apparently they were closing at 6 for Memorial Day which I didn't know when I made the reservation. If you're closing early and are going to be "out" of everything because you're closing early, then don't accept reservations for 30 minutes before you close. It was a disappointing experience. Definitely won't be back.
Absolutely HORRIBLE! Our server is good and very nice. But the overall service sucks. I've been here since 7:15, it's now 8:10 and we have not received our appetizer that we ordered 30 minutes ago. They are not busy and have what looks to me as plenty of wait staff. They were also out of 2 menu options from what is a very limited menu to begin with. This is the worst experience I've ever had in Buffalo. I strongly suggest you seek waterfront dining elsewhere.
IF I COULD GIVE ZEROS I WOULD !!!!!! it took forever for our food to come out because they system broke down. They couldn’t make frozen drinks because the machine was down the waitress we had was horrible, and I believe she was prejudice she didn’t come check on us she didn’t come take our menus she didn’t ask us if we needed to go containers she didn’t set our table. She didn’t bring us waters. NOTHINGGGGGG !!!!! My cousin had hair, and her food. My phone was missing the sauces and toppings that go on it. All our wings was cold. The waitress kept forgetting to bring us our drinks after she walked past us like four times we were the only black family there. This was meant to be my birthday dinner, and it was a horrible experience. I would never go back. some of us got our food. Some of us didn’t get our food for almost 2 hours later and again all the food was horrible. The service was horrible. Of course the atmosphere is beautiful, but that didn’t make up for the service and food being So horrible. We literally had our plates on top of our menus, because she never came back to get our menus . She kept forgetting to come back and take our orders it was my birthday dinner, so it was a good amount of people. We had to get the manager and they end up waving our dinner because it was hair in the food and The food was cold and it was so many issues. but remind you I made a reservation days ahead, so they know how many people is coming!!!!! It was just a horrible experience. I wouldn’t suggest it to anyone.
Food took over an hour to come out for their bar menu food. A burger and chicken fingers. When the kids chicken fingers came out they were like warm at best from the heat lamps. Had to speak to the manager to even get food at all. Beef on week was tasteless while the fries were dumped in a salt mine. Completely inedible. The waitress attitude was bland at best while she forgot us. I would not return here until they figure out their food and service issues
I was so disappointed by my experience. My boyfriend and I came here a few years ago and celebrated our anniversary. Since then, we always talk about the steak dinner we got and how it was one of the best we've ever had. This year on our anniversary we came back, and it was a let down to say the least. We were seated, and I was practically sticking to the table because it was so grimy. I got a coke, it was flat. Not to mention, it came in a plastic cup. I told the waitress and she said that someone told her the same thing earlier but it must have not been changed. We ordered nachos, they came cold we were given paper plates to eat them from. They took the steak off the menu, so I got the chicken ceaser salad and I probably could have gotten the same thing at Mercy hospital. My boyfriend's fish fry was burnt. Really disappointed we wasted our milestone anniversary at this dump. This place has gone downhill and it's definitely not what I remember. Not even close to being the same restaurant.
Service is absolutely terrible! Sat at a table near the bar and after 12 minutes of no one coming over to offer me not even a water I walked back over to the hostess and asked her to seat me somewhere I’m going to get service. Was seated at a table and after literally five waiters walked by me I got service. I ordered a wild berry mojito which I told was sweet, it was tart not sweet at all. The bar tender played in his hair as he made people’s drinks. I will never step foot in this place again. My waiter was a nice young guy but I had to ask him for a straw to drink out my glass, salt for fries, napkins to wipe my hands etc... stay away from this place. If they weren’t on the water the most likely wouldn’t be around
