I am from New York City. The best bagel in the world is in Los Angeles, and it is made at Western Bagels. The best food is in California, and, frankly, the water is overrated in New York City.

I visited the shop earlier this morning and tried a sourdough bagel for the first time—it was absolutely delicious. The iced coffee was also excellent. Unfortunately, while I was there, an extremely angry customer was yelling and cursing at the employees. I want to express my support for your business and commend your staff for handling such difficult situations. The food and service were both fantastic, and I appreciate your hard work. I will continue to support your shop! You all are doing a great job!
Sorry to say I've been sleeping on this place. Finally tried it today and I was quite pleased with the variety of their offerings and the prompt, friendly service. I was quickly greeted with a big smile and received my order after a very short wait. The Everything Jalapeno Cheese bagel was delicious and came with a generous amount of cream cheese. They even have a carving station, so your turkey is freshly sliced if you opt for that. They have plenty of indoor and outdoor seating, and a decent variety of bottled beverages. There is some music playing, but it's not loud, just enough background noise to break up conversations.
I notice there is a wide range of reviews, especially in regards to service. I also experienced an interesting service mishap; however, it was quickly addressed and remedied. Nobody is perfect and I can vouch for this location, staff, and the management team as they truly care about their customers. While I wish their prices would come down, the bagels are delicious and you get what you pay for. If there is an issue with your order/experience, I suggest reaching out to management and allowing them to provide a resolution. Enjoy 🥯

I don’t write posts very often but this has to be said! The lovely young lady who took my order and got my food was SO FRIENDLY and full of energy. Really made me feel good, very giggly and sweet. That combined with awesome food equals a great day 🥰 her hat says Rosemary and she was just awesome!
Shout out to Rosemary she was absolutely awesome with the service. My friend and I came early morning right before the rush and she really made our morning. The bagels were amazing and neatly made and the coffee was delicious. Thank you Rosemary!

Western Bagel in Burbank is a solid spot for a quick and tasty bite. The staff are super friendly and welcoming, and the food is consistently good. Orders come out quickly, which is perfect for busy mornings. I really enjoyed the bagels, they’re fresh, warm, and satisfying. However, the place does feel a bit outdated and could definitely use a facelift to match the quality of the service and food.

Really wanted Pumpernickel they have them but I was disappointed, tasted like to much molasses and not enough dark rye.
Please for the love of all things holy add a no meat option for the Egg Ala Bagel on your online ordering apps. I have to call in every time I want to order from you guys. You’ve gotta be tired of hearing from me by now! Excellent food, really frustrating and easily solved ordering hiccup.

Not that good. It's okay. Open hours are short. The staff is nice the manager was very rude. And asked my order of 2 bagels about 4 time's. I asked for one onion and one garlic bagel toasted w/ cream cheese. and still gave e me warm untoasted bagels w/ sour expired cream cheese. Last time I went it was just the staff and not the manager who is clearly only concerned about pumping out semi warm food and way too much sour cream cheese. Told her it was under toasted... didn't care, said she toasted it. Didn't even offer to make it right.. I came back a few minutes later and made it obvious I was taking pictures and waiting to talk to her. Once again She made no attempts to address Me. Or even acknowledge that I was standing wherever she was and raised my hand and said "Excuse me.... Excuse me!!..." Several times and raised my hand. Over priced, over rated...over do not recommend 👎
Being from NY, I know a good bagel and this place does not make the cut. The bagels are OK in my opinion and are also way to small for the prices being charged. California people must like this place though because the line was out the door.

I go to western bagel very often & this was my first time going to the Burbank location. I usually order the same thing slim bagel sandwich on sourdough bread & when I did today I was told by Larry that they don’t do it like that and it’s a corporate thing I replied with “I got it last week like that” and he dismissed me by just being rude. Mind you I would have been okay with switching it to whatever they have available here I just don’t understand why someone working in customer service has to be so rude ? Also don’t lie to my face I can literally go back to my usual western bagel and get my sandwich in a sourdough bread, next time just simply say “we don’t offer it like that here” it’s way better than lying and saying it’s a company thing when I just got it like that last week. Anyways Larry hope your day gets better and whatever you’re going through you don’t take it out on people

Ordered a blueberry bagel with reduced fat cream cheese through Doordash. I guess the cream cheese wasn’t used in a long time and has turned stale. We could smell something similar to how stale milk smells. They should use fresh cream cheese and check before they make an order. Giving 2 stars instead of 1 because the other bagel we got was good : jalapeno cheese bagel with herb cream cheese
Bagels seemed undercooked and we're doughy. Bagel was pretty small and thin as well. Definitely not New York style bagels. Lox we're old and appeared to be discolored on the edges. The cream cheese was cheap quality and left an oily residue in my mouth. Coffee was acceptable; if you like strong coffee this is NOT the place for you. While it was edible, I was completely dissatisfied and did not enjoy the meal at all and will not be returning any time soon. Attached is a display of theirs from a few years ago when I first tried this place. If you're willing to let your customers see this, what's happening in the kitchen.

This bagel: One parent is a proper chewy bagel, and the other, a soft, tasteless, Olive Garden bread stick😐 Not great, but some will like them. 2 of the 3 staff members were totally indifferent to the customers. As if we were infringing on their conversation. Two of us were in line for 5+ mins while 2 staff were busy making bagel sandwiches but the 3rd was casually restocking and wiping things down behind the counter. What’s that about?? Management needs to refresh customer service basics🤷♀️
Went here once, wouldn’t be back. The workers were snippy and dismissive, on top of providing some of the slowest services I’ve seen from a bagel shop. Bagels were mediocre at best with little flavor.

I don't live in Burbank but since I've enjoyed the sandwiches here before and we happened to be in the area, my boyfriend and I made a pit stop on our up north. Big mistake. Apparently we didn't line up in the "designated area", and we along with the other guests lined up behind us, were ignored instead of being redirected by any of the many staff standing around. The manager, Silvia, was clueless and rude. When I noticed she wasn't going to be receptive to what I was saying, I asked for her District Manager's info. Instead of taking care of a pissed off client, this genius escalated matters by brushing us aside and forcing us to wait until she finished helping other guests ((who came after us)) 🙄Brian, if you read this: Can you please teach Silvia proper management skills like delegating menial tasks to any of the staff standing around so she can try to calm irritated guests down instead of antagonizing them? Excellent bagels, sadly we will never return to this poorly managed location.
Extremely rude staff. Specifically, a young man by the name of Anthony, who when I said hi just stared at me. I asked for a bagel and he rudely responded. I walked out of that establishment, with only a coffee as I do not give my business to poorly run and managed establishments. I could go to Starbucks, McDonald’s, or Coffee Bean, but I thought it best to give Western bagel a visit as since it’s a more “locally owned” establishment. I was sadly disappointed.

Every time we try to give this place a try, they ruin it. We've gone in to order, we've placed orders through the app, we've had it delivered - and every time, there's some kind of issue. One time, it was that they ran out of the bagels we had ordered, and rather than letting us know, they substituted a random bagel in that we didn't want, and didn't find until we'd gotten home. One time, the app wasn't working to redeem a reward, and no-one we spoke with cared enough to figure out the issue. This last time, we ordered it for delivery, and after it was over 30 minutes late, they told us that their printer paper had run out and they had never gotten our order. It took multiple calls to sort it out. And when it finally came, they hadn't followed the order instructions and were unkind to our driver. The through line here? They don't care. The employees & management at the Burbank Western Bagel have an attitude of just not caring or bothering enough. If you accept that, you can (usually) get a bagel that you'll enjoy well enough. But shouldn't we have higher standards than that? Shouldn't we get what we order? Shouldn't we not be made to feel like we're "less than" just because we'd like our order to be right? Please, Western Bagel. Please start caring.
Missing bagels would not sway me to leave a 1 star review. What sways me is the lack of customer service I received from Sylvia. Hopefully speaking to Manager Brian tomorrow will produce a better conversation. I called to share that I was missing bagels from my Sunday order. We ordered thru the western bagel app, and upon pick we only received 19 of 30 bagels. The bagels were for my gender reveal and ultimately, I did not have enough bagels for my guests. Speaking to employee Sylvia today I initially said 6 were missing and then my husband reminded it was 11. I updated her and she said “are you sure?” I said yes. She went on to say “ma’am that is highly unlikely that you were missing that many bagels.” She said twice it was highly unlikely. Her resolution was for me to come in and pick up the remaining amount. 1st of all, the event is over. This is not an acceptable resolution. The store closes at 2pm. I cannot leave work to drive to Burbank and pick up bagels I no longer need. I asked for a refund for the missing bagels and she says she’s not the supervisor she’s only covering for him right now and they cannot do a refund without us being there in person. Something about corporate involvement. She asked me if I wanted her to write a letter to Brian so that he could help us when he comes in. I said I will call him back tomorrow. Being told a mistake was “highly unlikely” was so rude and I can’t fathom feeling comfortable to order from this store again. We deserve to be reimbursed at minimum for the 11 missing bagels.
What they are charging for is getting ridiculous. They have a cutting fee, a spreading the cream cheese fee. I was told by their Manager Jackie. That they no longer give plates when you order a dozen. If you order a dozen you can only have 4 that have cheese or else there is an extra charge which all these charges are not on the menu. It is also not on the menu and that if you mix and match bagels there could be an up charge on the bagel dozen. Be careful of all the hidden charges. They are officially gouging the public.
We love western bagel. Drove from far away just to have the worst experience ever here. Customer service not friendly at all. Big blad guy has very poor manners, coughing in front of you with our bagel in hand. Good was horrendous. Turkey wasn’t cut right, big fat pieces fallen from sandwich from all directions. Pastrami bagel was even worst. Very poor quality. All tables were dirty with crumbs all over. 1030am coffee was old and cold. Bathroom was disgusting and old.
