Wonderful experience! A welcoming place with attention to detail, perfect for an aperitivo with friends. The staff were kind, smiling, and super helpful; we felt pampered from start to finish. Excellent cocktails, accompanied by generous, quality appetizers. You could sense their passion and attention to detail. We'll definitely be back!
Tasty
Very nice atmosphere, with attention to every detail. Attentive, courteous, and cheerful service. Original cocktails—we were spoiled for choice! The focaccia served instead of bread was very popular. The food was excellent, as was the quality/price ratio. If you're passing through Busto Arsizio, highly recommended!
For the presentation of my latest book, a collection of travel stories, I chose "Al Cortiletto" in Busto Arsizio as the venue. The event featured readings of some passages with piano accompaniment, a temporary exhibition of themed paintings, and a closing aperitif. I must say right away that the venue's staff was truly attentive and supportive in organizing what was undoubtedly a rather complex event. The tables we had reserved were outside, but given the rather uncertain weather, they made available an entire indoor room for us to set up the instruments and set up the exhibition. Despite over 50 people in attendance and some who hadn't even booked for everyone, we were able to find seats. The aperitif was plentiful (a real dinner...) and was served perfectly timed immediately after the presentation. We were even offered plates of rice salad in addition to what was planned. After eating, we were able to spend a long time chatting in a truly festive atmosphere. All this thanks to the organization of Paolo Soprano of the Cortiletto staff, who assisted me throughout the preparations and ensured that everything ran flawlessly. Most of the guests were writers and artists from Milan or other cities outside the province, and they were all struck by the beauty of the venue's welcoming atmosphere, nestled in a truly prestigious historic center. The locals in attendance, however, remembered the venue from the past and appreciated the high quality of the new management. I believe we should learn to better showcase the events in our city, which often surpass many more famous venues in quality and style. For over twenty years, I have been organizing cultural events such as art exhibitions, book presentations, and musical readings, and whenever possible, I try to choose the city where I live rather than traveling elsewhere. I must say that organizing an event "Al Cortiletto" is a winning choice. You won't regret it.
Family run business. Excellent
Busto Arsizio .. (Va) .. Al Cortiletto .. very nice location .. which is located inside a courtyard in the center of Busto Arsizio .. we stopped here for a simple coffee .. (but we will return for an evening aperitif) after taking a walk in the center .. the coffee was good .. and the staff were kind ..
I think I'll return, but for an aperitif. The courtyard is very beautiful, it doesn't feel like you're in the city, and on weekends there's also live music, which is very pleasant. The bistro, I don't know if it was bad luck on the evening, but it slightly disappointed me, given the fishmonger next door. Maybe I was just unlucky, with limited raw fish choices, cut a bit like a sore thumb, and bland pasta!
I went yesterday with three of my friends for an aperitivo. For drinks and a 25x25cm tray with just a small snack each (a sort of fritter with fish, two cold cuts, and a small piece of pizza, plus an impractical burrata), we paid €15 each. In fact, we were a bit shocked when we paid, considering they didn't even bring us two chips. The service was slow despite the place being almost empty, and the waitress who served us was a bit impatient (I should point out that she wasn't particularly upset with us). It's a shame because the place is very nice and well-kept.
Update: Aperitivo for 4 people was 20eur, you expect something of quality and qty, It wasn't, they serve you fried potatoes, 1 sandwich sliced in 4 pieces, BACON and a decent cheese to be fair. The courtyard is pretty nice. Prices are high and only 1 waitress was kind enough to listen and fix our petition. One of the staff said that was the way things were done and there's nothing to do, Incredible! I talked to the manager who helped us. Prosciutto was more like pancetta.
You can't find out at 3:00 PM on December 24th that the fish we ordered had been altered in both quantity and type, because they said it "wasn't in our budget." In short, they gave us half the fish at a much higher price than agreed upon, causing serious disruption to our Christmas Eve dinner. We won't be returning; we strongly advise against it.
An experience to forget. Four of us sat down at 5:30 PM, a coffee, two liqueurs, and a gin and tonic. In total, there were only three tables occupied; the place was practically empty. When it was time to leave, since I had something to do, I went to the cashier, paid the bill (€22), said goodbye to my friends, and left alone. After five minutes (five!!!), a friend of mine, unaware that I had paid, went to the cashier and asked to pay, pointing to his table. THEY presented him with ANOTHER RECEIPT, this time for €15.50!!! He paid, but as luck would have it, in the meantime, I had called another person who was at our table, and when she told me they were paying, I explained, surprised, that I had already paid! After complaining, without even protesting or much surprise, my friend was refunded in cash for the €15.50 he had already paid by credit card. Unbelievable! The place was empty, and the cashier was THE SAME! Well... Anyway, even considering the decidedly exaggerated prices, never again, and... be careful of the prices on the menu and the bill you are presented with.
We booked and ordered a simple first course for 10 people at 7:30 PM. We waited 45 minutes for the dish... the wrong one and it was sent back. Spaghetti with clams was practically overcooked! The price was outrageous... 10 first courses, a 1-liter bottle of wine, €303! Never again.
Please note, this is not the real Cortiletto. The one in this location is not the one that's been open for over 20 years. The real Cortiletto is now near the market square, and you have to look for IL CORTILETTO for directions. Pay attention to the street, which is Via Gaeta. I'm warning you, because I too was misled into thinking it had reopened downtown, given my absence from Busto in recent years. In response to your comment, "My good taste is not the reason for this review." I wrote because, like I think many others, I was misled. I stopped by your place and only discovered after I went there that it wasn't what I was looking for. After doing some research, I discovered that the real Cortiletto is the only one. The one I knew was on the other side of town. Honestly, I think I have good taste, and it's not up to you to judge and say otherwise. If I have to be honest, you can post all the newspaper articles you want, but you're just a copy of a historic place that, among other things, still exists, and as already said, for over 20 years, and not because you partially occupy the premises of those who owned you. Preceded by this, then you too are the Cortiletto. There are those like me who spent their youth there. I can honestly say that you are not the Cortiletto of Busto Arsizio. There's even a song by Susino Regolando that talks about the real Cortiletto, and when it was written, you didn't even have the idea of opening a bar. So I repeat, for those looking for the real Cortiletto. The historic one is not in a pedestrian area. These gentlemen are not the Cortiletto. They only call themselves that for who knows what various reasons, which certainly isn't about reviving something that has never died. Don't get confused. The problem isn't how many there are in Lombardy. The problem arises when there are two in the same city, where you create confusion. And anyway, if we want to be picky, since that seems to be the problem, in Italy there is only one Cortiletto certified today, just go to the Ministry of Economic Policies and Made in Italy portal. The problem that perhaps you don't understand, which should arise from this endless review, is that you must try to provide clarity to the customer. Your work is at stake, and it helps those who come to you not to get the wrong place. In my opinion, you are Those who arrived later, let those who were there before continue on their journey so it's clearer for everyone
We arrived at 11:00 PM, ordered at 11:30 PM, and our drinks arrived at 12:20 AM... terrible service. We asked for a second round and it wasn't given. Tables arriving later were brought their drinks right away. I'm sorry, but this place has a lot of potential, but the service needs improvement.
I recommend head coverings for ladies and letter-writing attire for gentlemen. For the first time in my life, I was asked to leave a bar because of my attire. Fair enough, if only it were a matter of decorum. Even beach bars often ask you to wear a top and not to consume in your swimsuit. In any case, handmade Korean pants, a pair of limited-edition Adidas sneakers, and a black tank top weren't deemed appropriate... perhaps a sign at the entrance would be appropriate, like in 1938.
