The place is cozy and pleasant, without any pretensions. Luis struck us as a very nice guy and a true professional. I was impressed by his ability (along with his employee) to manage the dining room without the long service delays I expected, given the staff-to-customer ratio. Just when the feeling of a long wait was starting to kick in, Luis appeared with that delicious venison cachopo that we devoured. His 20+ years of experience are evident. The "surprise" cachopo is worth mentioning and recommending, although I should add that, while I won't reveal what's in it (you'll have to go and try it, it's fantastic ;)), I will say that if you don't like a touch of spice (yes, just a touch, the dish isn't spicy), then the venison or the four-cheese cachopo are great options. The portion of patatas bravas was amazing. Usually, it's either quantity or quality. Well, in this case, it was both. A more than generous portion with perfectly cooked potatoes: crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. We missed having a good homemade aioli, but we know how that works in the restaurant business ;) We didn't order dessert because we simply couldn't eat any. Oh, and a nice touch: he's from Calamocha and knows how to make decent cremaets! That's a big plus!
Four friends and I had lunch there on Saturday and the food was fantastic! Highly recommended. Luis, the owner, served us and gave us great recommendations. He was very kind, friendly, and helpful. We ordered: 📌 Half a portion of torreznos (fried pork belly), which were delicious; the fat was nice and the meat very juicy. 📌 Pig's ear; we ordered it without the trimmings. We were very surprised by the way he cut it. It was also very juicy. 📌 Cachopo (breaded and fried veal cutlet) with cheese, caramelized onion, and mustard. That combination blew me away. 📌 Ribeye steak; very tasty. We chose it ourselves; they have them vacuum-packed. 📌 Desserts: cheesecake (very good), stout cake (good, in my opinion), and white chocolate flan (my favorite; new to me, tasty, and fluffy). We ordered bread, three beers, one glass of wine, one Bitterkas, and a large bottle of water. The bill came to €32 per person. We thought it was very cheap for everything we ate. We'll be back if we're ever in the area again.
We went for dinner and were delighted. The food was delicious, and they also have gluten-free options. Luis took excellent care of us, recommending dishes and making sure everything was perfect. You can taste the quality and care in every dish. My special recommendation is the tiramisu cake: it's spectacular.
We went to this restaurant and the experience couldn't have been better. From the first moment we were amazed by the service, warm and attentive to every detail, making us feel right at home. We ordered the four-cheese cachopo and we can only say it was spectacular: juicy, flavorful, and with a combination of cheeses that amazed us. Without a doubt, a place we will return to and one we 100% recommend.
We had dinner on Holy Thursday, and by a miracle (pun intended), we got a table, and it was a real success. The portions are generous, not to mention, what's a half portion here is a full portion elsewhere. The venison cachopo was spectacular, the pork rinds were delicious, the octopus toast was scrumptious, and the Lotus cake... And the service and attention, despite being full, were absolutely perfect. Marked as a favorite.
Delicious food, excellent quality, great menu, friendly service, and very helpful advice. Whenever we go to Calamocha, we'll definitely go back. This is our second time here, and it's even better than the first. The ribeye steak was served to be finished on a hot stone right at the table. Superb local wines and unique homemade desserts. Luis is a genius!
We finished a route through Aguallueve/Anento and called after seeing the good reviews this establishment had. We couldn't have made a better choice. The professional staff, the prompt service, and the exquisite quality of everything made us want to come back if we return to the area. Good value for money. They have a dining room both downstairs and upstairs. We were pleasantly surprised by the considerable size of the grilled vegetables. For two people, we chose the whole portion and found it hard to finish. The suckling goat ingot was delicious, although we weren't entirely convinced (the menu says it's sliced, but you'd imagine a "thicker" meat that's not as thinly sliced).
We went for lunch on Sunday. We made a reservation for the morning, and thank goodness it was completely full. The waiters were friendly, and yes, the food was slow, but with so many people, that's normal. We ordered a half portion of bravas, a half of squid, and a cuttlefish portion. The half portions are quite large. There's a lot of variety and everything was delicious, although we liked the bravas the most; they were spectacular. The tapas were delicious and you have to serve them yourself. We really liked the cod brandade. Everything was delicious, and we can't wait to go back to try more. If I remember correctly, we paid €25 for two, and honestly, we overordered.
Whilst travelling from Zaragoza we stopped for lunch with children. Excellent food, large portions and great value. I would definitely recommend.
Traditional Spanish food in rations with high quality
Comida muy sabrosa y trato extraordinario. Raciones generosas Muy recomendable!!! Cerca de la Laguna de Gallocanta. Para repetir.
Hemos estado hoy comiendo, mi hijo, mi marido y yo.
The food was plentiful. With two of us, we couldn't finish two half portions and a cachopo. Very large portions. We ordered torreznos and eggs with ham, which were good. But what we liked most was the venison cachopo, well-filled and tasty. The atmosphere was very village-like, and the people were very friendly.
We went for dinner based on the reviews. We ordered a tempura vegetable grill from the center, and I have to say it wasn't grilled at all; they were frozen tempura vegetables. I ordered four lamb chops. They served me two pieces of leg and two ridiculously small chops. The cachopo my partner ordered was delicious. There was no toilet paper in the restrooms, and the restaurant had just opened. The waiter was very nice and attentive. The place isn't bad, but it's not that great.
We stopped in Calamocha for lunch. The place was quite simple. We didn't have a reservation, but they made room for us to eat. As for the food, I don't know if it's because we didn't choose well. We ordered a salad, which was good, and the pork rinds were well-made (the portions are large), but nothing stood out. What we didn't like at all was the dish of huevos rotos (broken eggs with trotters) (I forgot to take a photo of it). It was a difficult dish to eat, very greasy and heavy. My husband is a big fan of trotters, and we thought it might be good, but we didn't like it, and it didn't sit well with us either. We couldn't finish it (again, maybe we made the wrong choice because we didn't know what the dish was like). For dessert, we ordered a stout cake; it was homemade, a good portion, although the sponge cake was a bit burnt in some places. The final bill came to around €45... For me, it was a bit steep, considering I ordered three dishes and a dessert, two of which were half portions. I repeat, perhaps we didn't know how to order. I don't doubt the establishment's good reputation, as it was packed and the staff was friendly.
It was a bit pricey. I’ve seen many people on the reviews say it was a good price for the quality, but I personally think I’ve had better. Regardless, the good was really good especially the dessert. Some things were more worth than others. The eggs with the ham as well as the honey mustard meat were really worth it. The ribs on the other hand not so much. I think that this place is really good if you choose well and I recommend to stop here if u pass by. The service was really good and genuine while also professionally friendly.
Servicio pésimo tardaron más de una hora en traernos unos torreznos que estaban recalentados ….lo cual suponieron que eran para compartir así que mi plato (unos huevos rotos con jamón) tardó una hora…
The waiter who served us was incredibly unenthusiastic and bland. We ordered a cachopo with a surprise, and the surprise came when it arrived. It wasn't a cachopo at all; it was like a breaded steak, but poorly made. If they don't know how to make it, they shouldn't offer it. I suggest the cook travel to Asturias to see a real cachopo. A place to never return to, NOT RECOMMENDED AT ALL. If you want a good meal, Rincón de Luís is not the place.
