My wife and I went here for her birthday, and without a doubt, we can confirm it is the best restaurant ever. First of all, our compliments go to the staff; they aren't just polite and kind, but above all, highly professional and competent. In addition, the quality of the food is unbelievable. Every dish was astonishing, even though I have to admit the flavors of a few plates on the MAREE menu were a bit intense for my palate. Personally, I would suggest ordering the CLASSIC menu instead. Without further ado, we absolutely invite you to try this location—you cannot go wrong. Last but not least, we were completely stuffed! You might think you'll leave a star-rated restaurant hungry, but that is absolutely not the case here. The cherry on top was not only the reasonable bill but the two glasses of wine gifted to us for the birthday. We will absolutely be back.
Excellent food and great service for decent price. Absolutely recommend
High-quality raw materials used to propose original dishes with an intense and delicious flavour. We took the chef's menu of classics and were delighted. The focaccia genovese with seaweed, breadsticks and crispy tongues served at the opening all made by the Eataly bakery... sublime. We will return with pleasure to taste more dishes. Very good the chef and very good the guys in the dining room.
Innovative fine dining with a view Centrally located and set on the top floor, this place offers a beautiful view — especially at sunset. One of the coolest parts is the open kitchen: you can watch the chefs plate each dish with precision, which adds to the whole experience! We went for the 7-course mystery tasting menu and were blown away. The flavours were creative, unexpected, and absolutely delicious. Every dish felt like a surprise. For this level of cooking, the price was more than reasonable. A must-visit for food lovers!
We had an incredible lunch at Il Marin today. The service from Stefano was impeccable, whilst each dish left us pleasantly surprised. There were no problems with feeling hungry after the meal. In fact, we finished the 7 courses full to the brim, happily satisfied. The wine pairings were also great. I'd have no hesitation recommending Il Marin to anyone that wants a special lunch/dinner in Genoa.
Best rooftop restaurant in town We’re Genovese and live right across from this place, so when we want to be sure we’ll eat well and enjoy a professional (but never stiff) service, we come here. We dined on the terrace at golden hour with a surprise five-course tasting menu — rooted in Ligurian tradition, but elevated with remarkable creativity. The kind of cuisine that speaks for itself. No need for theatrics or fuss: just real, expressive food. Their take on the cappon magro — which you can see in the photo I’ve posted — is simply unforgettable. I won’t share more images, to avoid spoilers, but each course was a discovery. The wine list is solid, with some of the best Ligurian bottles we’ve tried. And the atmosphere? Relaxed yet refined. This is not a rigid fine dining spot — it’s a place where innovation and local identity meet, without losing warmth. Whether you’re from Genoa and want to see how traditional dishes can evolve, or you’re a curious traveler who’s already experienced more classic local cuisine and wants to go beyond — Marin is a must-visit. We come here once or twice a year, and we’ve always been impressed — not just since the Michelin star, but long before that. The team is committed and consistent, and they truly respect dietary needs: you’ll find excellent vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options thoughtfully integrated into the menu. Price-to-quality ratio? Fair and well balanced, considering the level of the kitchen and the overall experience.
A little hard to find, making the overall experience a bit sad at the beginning. Once seated, the Michelin star experience lived up to the expectations. The wine pairing was amazing. The true honor to seasonal and Ligurian finds made for a special meal.
Amazing experience. The seafood menu was very impressive. Every dish wash thoughtfully designed. Service was amazing.
Great first experience in a starred restaurant. Food was unbelievable! We had the classic menu, 5 courses picked by the chef (the last one is always a dessert). Amouse bouche really appreciated and some of them super tasty - my favorite was the pickled fennel! Focaccia was super soft and truly an helpful tool to do ‘scarpetta’. Tortellini with pesto was mind blowing too! A wonderful experience, the service was very attentive and explained every dish with all the details. My only side note is that the service was extremely slow, about 30 min in between courses, a bit too long in my opinion, considering the restaurant was almost empty. Also a backhoe music would be appreciated as it was super quiet inside and almost felt awkward to talk! Price is right for the experience- definitely worth it!
What a hidden gem in Genoa ! We had a superb lunch at Il Marin, which is nicely decorated and has a lovely view over the harbour. Both the food and the service were beyond our expectations ! Very creative food, top service, excellent wine list, all real value for money. The restaurant largely surpasses the level of many Michelin star restaurants we have visited and it should only be a matter of time before it gets at least one star.
Some of the most attentive and friendly waiting staff. The staff know the menu by heart in English and Italian, translating italian words fluently into english. There are only 8 tables and only 3 set menus to choose from, with the possibility of creating your own menu. Our waitress noticed the table was uneven, even before we noticed and immediately brought something to even it out. Whilst waiting for our table, a better table became available. We were asked if we could wait 3 minutes whilst they prepared the new table. When we were seated, we were asked what we wanted to drink, the drinks came and then our waitress explained the menu to us in detail. Her colleague then came over, asked which menu we had chosen and gave us recommendations as to which wines suited the menu we had chosen. I had heard the portions were small, so we opted for a 7 course meal. We had to skip 2 portions as it became too much food to eat. The food itself was very flavourful, each course was displayed beautifully and very flavourful. Not "traditionally" italian but they werent scared to experiment and add twists to discover new flavours which is very progressive and paid off because each course was very tasty and very unique. The price for a culinary experience like this was very very justifiable, so much so that I would have gladly paid more for the service and food we received.
By far the best culinary experience I have had in Italy. The place was beautiful, right next to a window with a great view on the top floor. The staff could not be better, they were friendly and even though there was some limitations on the language it was still a great experience. The prices were not high for the quantity and quality. No doubt that I would come back here. If you are a tourist or local you must come and visit this place. I still cannot believe a paid 30eur for all these dishes.
Fine dining, exquisite but pretentious. This is a nice, modern, airy room at the far end of the 2nd floor of the Eataly building in the old port (take the lift to the second floor and keep going, don’t lose heart!). When we were there the waitresses all spoke incredibly quietly, which was a pain for my 86 year old mother. I think it’s all part of their slightly Scandawegian vibe. Everything is very precise, you are given old wine boxes to put your handbags in for instance. There are many amuse bouche, most of which were lovely. But all served on a series of unlikely articles worthy of Dalston. The food was all lovely, really excellent, but it was not a place you would go to laugh or relax with friends. It’s all about style, restraint and precision. I would go back but it would not be a favourite if I lived in the city. The price was reasonable for the quality of the food.
Unfortunately this is the worst Michelin restaurant and the worst restaurant in Italy that I’ve eaten in. The service was very good but the food was not. The pasta dishes were good but everything else was either bland or downright bad. I was honestly shocked and can’t believe this restaurant has a Michelin star.
Review for the temporary all'aperto (outdoor) bistrot Anciôa: We waited a while for someone to take our order. No one came, I waved to a waiter, he pointed us out to another waiter. No one came. After waiting more I waved again, then all three waiters were standing together, looking at us, discussing. Instead of coming to our table one waiter started cleaning another table.... Then we finally got up and left, no one tried to stop us or apologised. Absolutely absurd...
