We came here today for the first time and were impressed by the quality (and quantity) of the food and the kindness and friendliness of the staff, especially Mr. Giovanni, who knew how to entertain and have fun! Fantastic, high-quality food; €30 for two appetizers, two first courses, a second course, dessert, coffee, liqueurs, and virtually unlimited wine isn't a fair price, it's more. We were at these places last night and they welcomed us very warmly! We literally felt at home and the food was divine. The owner was incredibly friendly, and the chef was also really funny and friendly. As soon as we're in the area, we'll definitely be back to say hello. A beautiful gift, when you least expect it, turns into a pleasant surprise, and surprises always bring a smile. This is the Locanda del Grillo Parlante. A genuine, sincere place, hidden in the hills between Voghera and Zavattarello as soon as the road leaves the plain and enters the headlands. An unpretentious place, with no problems and no reception; in fact, we didn't even have internet access, even better. I had lunch alone one midday on a hot August day. The set menu that Sunday consisted of: - a hearty appetizer of cured meats and crostini (serving for 2) - risotto with taleggio cheese and radicchio - green ravioli with tomato sauce - veal with orange and a side of potatoes sautéed in butter - ice cream is a must; even if you don't ask, it'll come - coffee - after-dinner drink All for €30 Water, beer, and a digestif included in the price. Like an all-you-can-drink. If you don't feel like getting back in the car, don't worry; no one will be shocked if you spend a couple of hours lounging outside on the tables. Thanks for everything. I'll be back with friends and family because no one believed me when I told them.

La Locanda Del Grillo Parlante is one of those places you'd rather keep all to yourself. We stumbled upon it by chance after a stroll around Borgo Priolo, and walked in without a reservation today at 1 p.m. A smiling young woman greeted us, checked the tables, and immediately seated us. The location is spartan, just how we like it; it feels like a pleasant dip into the '80s. We sat down at our table, and before we'd even sat down, we were already treated to a delicious mixed antipasto platter with cured meats and pickles. We were also served water and a bottle of house red wine, which was delicious. After the antipasto, we had a second course of first courses: mushroom risotto and lean ravioli with sage. I would have been full even then, because the portions are generous and the waiters are very kind and attentive, never leaving bread or anything else on the table. But then the main courses arrive... and with them, the second bottle of wine... a huge plate of roast beef, chicken leg, escalope, potatoes, and carrots, all cooked to perfection. Now for dessert, you can choose from a variety of desserts; we chose bunnet and panna cotta, and they were so good I didn't have time to photograph them. Coffee and two rounds of plum grappa. I won't tell you the price, folks; go and find out for yourself and be amazed. I can only tell you that for that price in Milan, I could probably eat a first course and a beer. What can I say? Thank you, thank you, thank you. We left feeling incredibly full and satisfied, thanking the chef who made sure to show up in the dining room. We'll definitely be back to visit you with our friends!

My wife and I decided to have lunch here on Saturday. Parking is very convenient, right next to the Locanda. The welcoming staff seated us right away, without a reservation. They immediately asked us what we'd like, and after choosing, we went to the buffet table, where we found salads, olives, grilled and pickled vegetables, and excellent cured meats. For our first course, we were served a delicious risotto with salami paste, followed by mixed grill for me and breaded cutlet for my wife... everything was delicious. They also brought us a fruit salad. For drinks, we had water, a bottle of Bonarda, and two coffees. Total €20.00 (€10.00 per person). CONCLUSION: We had a great time. The restaurant is simple, suitable for those with low expectations. Very good value. We'll definitely be back. We've been back several times, even during the COVID restrictions, eating outside under the awning. A cold cuts appetizer, two first courses (risotto and tagliatelle with ragù), and a cutlet with potatoes. All excellent. A full lunch €10.00, and a slice of tart for dessert €2.00. It's always a pleasure to eat in the company of Davide and Franca, and I thank them. 23-07-2022 Finally, after several months, we returned to this place we'd missed. :-D. A full lunch €12.00 with an appetizer, first course, second course, side dish, and coffee with water and wine. We had spaghetti Bolognese and risotto with rosemary...excellent. The roast beef with potatoes was also good. Every time we frequent this place, we feel right at home. Thank you, Franca and Davide. 24-09-2022 Dinner with friends €20.00. As always, we ate very well and had a great time. May 1, 2023 It's a holiday, and we've booked to return to this restaurant. The full menu is €20.00, good value...but things are changing...we'll see!

Yes! The beauty of small, family owned places, where the local people come to enjoy the food and atmosphere. If you enjoy simplicity and a friendly relationship with the owners- that's the place you should visit. Do not expect long wine list and complex menu - rather tasty and freshly cooked Italian stuff

Found by pure chance... It's rare to find such friendliness, warmth, and authenticity (and not just in terms of the ingredients), combined with good home cooking (and good wine). What can I say, a place where heart and good food go hand in hand... oh, and I forgot: absolutely fair prices. I'll be back soon, without a doubt.

But does a place like this really exist? I never would have thought it possible. Instead... The promise is a fixed price menu of 10 euros, which includes cold cuts and wine at will, as well as first course, second course, side dish and coffee. I arrive for lunch, brought by friends, and on the table there is an expanse of salami, hunters and a monumental liver mortadella, with cutting boards and knives: "Please... help yourself!" says the very nice Mr. Davide, our host, who welcomes us with his wife. Excellent salami, delicious liver mortadella which I avidly love. Then comes a small plate with bacon, coppa and cooked salami. From the menu of the day, I choose risotto alla parmigiana and cassaula. The first is creamy and delicate; the second is round and enveloping, made according to tradition with the less noble parts of the pig: snout, ears, trotter. It melts in your mouth. The wine I choose, red, is a Bonarda that goes down on its own. The extra charge for grappa is very modest. The initial promise is kept and satisfaction definitely exceeds expectations. The atmosphere is frank and relaxed, no pretense of a gourmet place, but the air is that of festive days even if it's only Tuesday. On Sundays, Mr. Davide tells us, the price is double, but the menu includes 3 first courses and 2 second courses. Better to book, for obvious reasons. I'll be back as soon as possible.

The fixed menu is €13 and includes a small appetizer, a choice of three first courses, a choice of three second courses, two side dishes, wine, water, and coffee. The food is good quality and portions are generous. The atmosphere is typical of a trattoria, well-maintained and clean. The service is a bit "rustic." Given the price, that's fine.

If you're looking for a place to eat well, in a genuine and welcoming atmosphere, this restaurant is a perfect choice. On Sundays, the fixed price is €30 per person, with a set menu that changes every time. There's no choice of dishes; you eat what the kitchen has prepared, but I assure you, you won't be disappointed. We started with an appetizer of cured meats and pickles, followed by two first courses: a risotto with sausage and saffron strozzapreti with zucchini and pancetta. For the main course, a polenta taragna accompanied by excellent venison. We finished with a delicious apple strudel. The price also includes wine, water, and coffee. Plus, if you have any leftovers, the restaurant is so attentive they'll offer you the option of taking them home. Highly recommended.

Purtroppo è la prima volta che mi capita di scrivere una recensione così negativa. È vero che abbiamo pagato poco ma le portate non erano neppure lontanamente quelle viste in altre recensioni: il vino della casa sembrava acqua frizzante colorata; antipasti tristissimi; gli spaghetti di Varzi era un normalissimo piatto di spaghetti; ragò pavese un'insulsa brodaglia insapore mandata indietro e non mi dilungo oltre. Dispiace perché il personale è gentile e la location non è poi così malaccio. Connessione internet totalmente assente. Non tornerò!
