Mestiza Cancún

I had a wonderful experience at Mestiza Cancun. The food was absolutely delicious-authentic flavours, generous portions, and beautifully presented. The tacos de filete con tuetano and chicharron de ramos were some of the best I’ve ever had. What really made our visit memorable, though, was the outstanding service. Our waitress, Alfredo, was incredibly kind, attentive, and made us feel right at home. He checked on us regularly, offered great recommendations, and always had a warm smile. It’s rare to find service that makes you feel so genuinely welcomed and appreciated. Thank you for the best dining experience-can’t wait to come back!

My husband and I visited Mestiza restaurant on our babymoon in Cancún. I can confidently say this was the most top notch food and service we received while visiting Cancún. The staff were constantly aware of our needs from needing more water, clearing our table when we finished a plate of food, and pulling our chairs in and out for us. They gave us great recommendations for appetizers and food. I ordered the orzo pasta with ribs and it was divine. We sat out on the patio, right at sunset, and it was a beautiful view. The staff even offered to take our photo with the sun setting over the lagoon. If we're ever back in Cancún, we will come back here.

Well, that was amazing! Wonderful view of the lagoon, terrific food, and very attentive staff. Alfredo was the maestro of his talented team, and made our family feel at home. This is a hidden gem, but not for long. Book now, while you still can !

Fue una maravillosa experiencia, a pesar que mi niña es alérgica a gluten le pudieron realizar un postre especial de cumpleaños que disfruto junto a sus amigas. Servicio 10 de 10 y Manuel muy atento.

Woof. Went here for NYE. What do I even say? It’s a shame because the food was genuinely good. I’m not a bad reviewer, I have worked in the service industry and I know how hard it can be. The service was abysmal. We arrived around 9pm, put in our order at 9:30. Each course took about an hour to arrive. We should have known how bad it would be when we all ordered the same starter, ceviche, a raw dish, we were served around an hour after we sat, but we had hope it would get better. It didn’t. About 45 minutes after we were served the first dish we watched multiple other tables receive their mains while our second dish had not yet been received. We had to flag down the waitress to let her know our order still wasn’t reached after she noticed another table also hadn’t been served. The second dishes were burrata salad, soup, tortellini and risotto. I would have thought the soup and salad were made and prepped hours ago and that they would batch make the pasta and risotto so what took this second plate this long idk. It took another 15-20 minutes to arrive. While we were waiting I noticed how many drinks had piled up at the bar. Strange considering how many tables were not being served, seems like they could have at least been fast at serving drinks. But for some reason instead of doing this they changed our silverware in between each course. Interesting choice for a service they were clearly drowning in. We waited again, over an hour for the next course. They advertised a live violinist. That stayed for only about 2 songs. We ordered 2 bottles of wine for our table and multiple times served the wine for ourselves after the glasses were left empty, even when servers would drop off a course or “check” on our table. Then almost an hour later The New Year was almost upon us. We had 5 guests for dinner and started off with 5 Champaign glasses but when they came to pour the Champagne somehow we ended up with 4 full glasses. Determined to at least make this go to plan I flagged down the waiter to get the 5th. They also handed out bags of 12 grapes to us. Except the one my mother in law received only had 11. What else could go wrong? I gave her an extra out of mine and we celebrated the New Year. We overheard another table fully left without paying having been served all 4 courses without us even being close to served our mains. I stole a grape off the abandoned table to make up for the one we didn’t get. 30 minutes after midnight we finally got our mains, the photo attached is the sloppy presentation I got after waiting 3 hours since we ordered (3.5 since we sat) for this dish. Again, the food was tasty but at this point I was just so fed up by the lack of service. We had trash on the table, which I collected and put to the side for at least 20 minutes before it was picked up while our waitress danced to the “dj” music - which was just a playlist. They served desert immediately after the mains, when people hadn’t even finished in the most tone deaf way I could have imagined. I got the leftover of my main packed up to go and confirmed with 3 people to ensure this got done. It was honestly sloppy and a mess. I don’t think we’ll be back. I don’t want to be unfair, the food was great but what a shame we still had such a bad time.

We arrive 9:30 and were seated immediately. 20 minutes later someone came to take our order. No drinks, no menu, not anything. So I asked if we could have drinks first. My girlfriend ordered a drink and I asked for a wine menu. 10 minutes later I asked another person for a wine menu and then again a third person 10 minutes more. Still not even my girlfriend's drink arrived. Finally I asked the first person again and got the wine menu and ordered a bottle of wine. We also ordered dinner starting with appetizers. 20 minutes later the food arrived, still no wine, still no other drink, not even bread on the table. I sent the food back. A while later her drink arrives but not the wine. I inquired about it and finally someone came out with 2 alternatives as they said the one I asked for was not available. I ordered a pino noir and one of the 2 alternates was almost frozen. Who services ice cold Pino noir? I selected the other. Then we got some bread and waited 20 more minutes for the appetizers to arrive. After finishing the appetizers we waited 15 minutes and then I inquired about the main course. We were told that they lost the order and it finally arrived after another 30 minutes. Let me talk about the food. It was so so at best but here is the shocker. First we could not order from the regular menu and had to use the holiday special menu. Ok I ordered the fish. I asked what it came with and was told salsa. Really! I asked to order some vegetables or potatoes but they were not on the special menu. Who in a high end restaurant serves fish only with a salsa which consists of a large amount of RAW ONION. Finally the holiday charge was excessive for 1 plastic hat, 1 noise maker, and one happy new year tierra, 2 flutes of champagne, along with 10 minutes of fireworks. But I could have dealt with that. In the experience and the great deal of idle time with no food or drinks, we did laugh but it was at the numerous servers bringing out food and having no clue what table to deliver it. One person walked around for over 5 minutes with 2 cappuccinos looking to figure out what table it was for. Management and supervision was nowhere to be seen. The servers were in-attentive and running around and had no answers to the problems. I am including a screenshot of the vent listing that we paid for. Note the following: It makes no mention of a special limited menu or we would not have attended. It also stated a tip for the party fee. Ok-- but for 2 persons I did not agree to a 15% tip which was added to my dinner bill without consent. I would have tipped more for good service but also less for this poor display. My dinner with the 15% was 5,225.75 We have been to almost every restaurant in your chain in both Playa and Cancun. This was horrible.

SAVE YOURSELF THE HEADACHE Started off with an unfriendly hostess, then 15 min of flagging someone down to order a drink. They took order came back and said they didn’t have the item, which is weird for a $150 pre-fix menu, instead first course was a salad that was thrown together. Croutons were stale and tasted bad. my girlfriend sent hers back. They brought a replacement ceviche which tasted really fishy, took one night and no more. Waited another 80 min for the next course which didn’t come at which point we asked for our money back. They manager declined. For $350 dinner you would hope for good food and service. Both were atrocious.

Fui a su evento de año nuevo y mi familia y yo tuvimos una pésima experiencia. Se tardaron 30 mins en tomar nuestra orden. Y cada tiempo de comida tomó una hora en llegar. Llegamos 9:30pm y a la 1 am estuvimos comiendo nuestro platillo principal. Nuestro mesero no estaba preparado pensó que traía puros menus en inglés cuando el menú en español estaba atrás del menú en inglés. Después cuando tomó nuestra orden nos mencionó que un platillo de entrada estaba agotado lo cual es inaceptable por los precios que manejan. En el evento se mencionó que habría una violinista la cual tocó solo una canción en toda la noche. No recomendaría otro evento con grupo rosa negra ya que se nos mencionó que para 3 lugares de eventos tenían sólo una cocina y la cocina no tuvo la capacidad para los 3 restaurantes. Muchas personas tuvieron la misma mala experiencia.

Pésima experiencia de fin de año. La experiencia empezó 9:30, eran las 10:15 y no nos habían tomado la orden de un menú preseleccionado. Cuando nos la tomaron, ya no había opciones del menú. Tardaron UNA HORA más en traer el primer tiempo. Éramos cinco personas en la mesa, todos los platos diferentes aunque habíamos ordenado lo mismo, el mío estaba servido en un plato blanco de helado. UNA HORA más tarde llegó el segundo tiempo, con un risotto mal cocido (los granos estaba duros). El último tiempo llegó 1 am (ya pasado el año nuevo). Esperamos otros 20 minutos para el peor postre de mi vida, lo dejé completo. Veíamos como todas las mesas al rededor estaban teniendo igual una pésima experiencia, de una mesa cercana incluso se fueron sin pagar. Para lo que cobran, una experiencia que definitivamente no repetiría y no quisiera que nadie más la viviera.

Fuimos a la fiesta de fin de año , estuvimos 2 horas y solo nos llevaron una ensalada vieja porque no tenian las otras opciones que estaban en el menú especial de fin de año cuando nuestra rsv inicio a las 9:30 como parte del segundo grupo ( el paquete era 4 platos) luego de eso nos levantamanos a hablar con el manager y aun así no nos quisieron hacer el reintregro del dinero … cabr aclarar que no fuimos los unicos en quejarnos , la mesa de la par le cambiaron igual la ensalada y los drinks! Gracias por arruinarnos el fin de año … btw ya se imaginan lo que pagamos por un servicio y comida malo

Comida 1/5 , servicio 1/5 , ambiente 1/5 Una decepción total la comida y el servicio , tratamos de hablar con el mesero y sin embargo cada tiempo tardaba más de una hora , evitense la pena de visitar éste lugar
