We celebrated my husband’s birthday. Our waitress was very helpful, friendly and courteous. I enjoyed my tuna tartare, shrimp and Crème Brulee.
Had a tough time getting last minute reservations anywhere but got super lucky here. Lori (sp?) was amazing. One of the best servers we’ve had anywhere. Everything tasted as great as it looked. Food runners were rock stars. Atmosphere was perfect. Can’t say enough good things.
I came here Saturday night since I was staying in the hotel. They are still doing the outdoor dining like some other places in the area, so there is a lot of foot traffic passing by. I have to say that the food and service was spot on. My waitress was attentive and friendly and my food was delish, even though it was in small portions. The menu is very limited so I opted for items from the $60 Prix Fixe menu (which I thought was a tad expensive). My order consisted of Crab Cake, Scallops and Creme Brulee. Be forewarned that they don't have a cocktail menu so it is either you get their wine (by the bottle) or you can BYOB. Overall, I would come here again if I am ever in the area.
We went there as a group of friends and had a blast! The food was super delicious! The ingredients were fresh and the chefs did a tremendous job! We enjoyed every single dish we ordered. The waiters and serving staff were all very friendly. The place itself is inside of an old hotel and looked super cool inside. Very worth going there.
A Delightful Journey Back in Time Enticed by glowing reviews, I took my wife to this charming establishment for a birthday celebration. Housed in a Victorian mansion, the restaurant instantly transports you back in time. The quaint ambiance, adorned with antique touches, exuded a timeless charm that I found particularly enchanting. Our culinary adventure commenced with the exquisite Foie Gras, surpassing even my high expectations. Each bite was a symphony of rich flavors and textures. This was followed by the Bay Scallops, which were truly out of this world. Perfectly cooked and bursting with freshness, they were an absolute highlight of the meal. For the main course, we both succumbed to the allure of the Filet Mignon with Lobster. This luxurious dish, boasting a perfectly cooked steak and a succulent lobster tail, was a culinary masterpiece. The evening culminated with a decadent Creme Brûlée, presented with a celebratory birthday candle. The dessert was a delightful conclusion to a truly memorable dining experience. Throughout our visit, we were graciously served by a kind and attentive waitress, further enhancing the overall enjoyment.
Went with a group of friends for a bachelorette dinner & it was fantastic! There was 8 of us and every single one of us enjoyed our meals & thought they were excellent. I really liked their specialty menu at the time which allowed us each to get an appetizer, meal & dessert of our own. I had the best lobster tails I've ever had (& I grew up on the beach in a store town) & also the best creme brulee. Loved it and can't wait to be back!
When searching for an upscale restaurant in Cape May to celebrate a birthday, we came upon this place. The pre-fixe menu with additional options offered a variety of selections that were difficult to choose, only because every option sounded divine. The service was very good. The food was amazing. While portions were on the small side, we were all well satisfied with our choices. The bring your own wine option was appealing as well. The decor matches the age of the victorian era homes in the area. Love the large porch. I highly recommend this restaurant! Enjoy!
Food was fabulous from the Foie Gras to the dessert. We forgot to bring our own wine but they did have a bottle for $37.00 which was fine. We loved everything!
Union Park has a summer pre fix menu with wonderful options to choose from. We loved sitting on porch on the beautiful summer night. We had the bread basket which had several types of Artisan breads and whipped butter which was fresh and delicious. I loved the beet salad [fun & flavorful], short rib entree [tender, it had a great combo of flavors and textures] chocolate tart [decandent & delicious] . My boyfriend loved his whole meal too. He had the bay scallop ceviche, crab cakes for entree, and cheesecake. The crab cake was light, fresh, yummy and perfectly made.
This is a must... 3rd time is a charm. The food was delicious,( amazing chef) it's a byob ( just a great perk) Staff was on point...very attentive. Love the look It's not suprising at all, with the accolades posted on the wall.... 2023 restaurant week... this is a must . There define the word exceptional ... food ,service, value, atmosphere...
An incredibly high-end dining experience that all who can afford should absolutely try. The staff are all attentive, informative, and friendly. The food is always the best.
Restaurant week 2023. Great atmosphere and service. Prices are high for smaller portions but food is incredible. Overall a great experience
Food was outstanding! Portions were well balanced. Staff was attentive and polite. I will be coming back and would highly recommend.
Made our anniversary dinner special. Very nice place, great romantic atmosphere, very delicious food, friendly staff, super clean and COVID safe. We celebrated our anniversary and the staff made so special. We had pre fix menu which we had oysters, scallops, lobster tails and finished with delicious cake. Everything was perfect. Thank you for making our celebration memorable.
Visited Cape May for Labor Day weekend. Found this place and we are so happy we did! From the service to the food to the atmosphere. It was incredible.
Every time we come to Cape May this is on the top of the dining list. atmosphere is amazing and relaxed. Service is spot on. Never feel rushed and the food is amazing. absolutely no messing around with the beet salad here as they do it the way every restaurant should - this is a salad made out of the beets perfectly seasoned - not one of those substitutions where it is a few beets over a bunch of lettuce. If you enjoy beet salad come here!
This was one of the best meals I ever had. Delicious steak and great service. Would definitely come back!!
Beautiful high-end dining. Very attentive and professional staff. The food was beautifully presented and tasted amazing. So flavorful!
Great place to eat! Meals are delicious and cooked to perfection. Have been eating here every year for the past 5 years and won't miss next year! The staff is excellent as well.
Top 10 dinner and service I have had. Amazing food by Chef John Schatz. Highly recommend
Always a great meal. Between here 4 or 5 times and its always delicious. This time it was restaurant week, but you could also order from the regular menu. I got the duck beast and it was fantastic. Service was good as always.
Good acai bowl but it is 4x the size that it needs to be. Phone has a nice rack though
We had the pleasure of dining here! This is fine dining,, everything was superb, from entree to dessert.
Feed was spectacular. The room itself was so beautiful. And service was impeccable. The crab cake was best I ever had and that is saying a lot. I had the tuna with a Vietnamese slaw. so good. Fresh fish and just wonderful presentations. pricy but worth it.
Stepping into this fine dining restaurant was a delight from start to finish. The food was absolutely incredible. Our wait staff Shirley was attentive and welcoming. All our wait staff was very attentive proactively refilling drinks and replacing used silverware between courses. Would totally recommend this place. The best part it is BYOB.
Great food, and prix fix options. Loved our server as well!
Union Park was a wonderful surprise! We are not from NJ and just went by reviews and menu choices. It’s a BYOB though which was not obvious to us. Our waitress was unbelievably trained - top notch! In the style of fine dining; she was efficient, well informed, and self effacing. Loved her! We did the $65 per person 3 course menu. The food quality and presentation were perfect, the burrata melted in my mouth, the scallops were perfectly prepared and accompanied by beautifully seasoned lentils, and the fruit tart had a very interesting fruit medley. Highly recommend this gem!
Always a fabulous experience - the service, the atmosphere, the location are all top notch - BUT THE FOOD!!! The cuisine is incredible - amazing presentation, exceptional marrying of flavors,......and the sauces - wow! So well done. The french cut chicken was the table favorite (who says the chicken in their favorite, right? Crazy delicious). The wait staff is highly attentive to your needs and the owner keeps a close eye on customer experience. We are consistently impressed by Union Park.
Held our wedding reception at Union Park 15 years ago and have been back several times since, most recently for our anniversary. The experience has been delightful every time. The food is always beyond amazing and the service exceptional. Not crazy about the change to a prix fixe menu, but willing to overlook that small blemish on an otherwise excellent meal. It's no surprise that Union Park continues to thrive in Cape May.
Beautiful venue. Excellent food and service. We had a wonderful time for a birthday celebration. Highly recommend. It is expensive but the portions were a good size. Servers were pleasant, knowledgeable and very hard working. I have never seen service and kitchen staff work so hsrd and so fast in my life!! They really hustle!
This place was absolutely charming! The food was delicious and the service was spectacular. You know you’re in good hands from the moment you walk in. My boyfriend and I had steak and lobster for our main courses and we were not disappointed. The portions were filling and we even had leftovers to take home. Our waitress Liz was also great and very attentive. Overall if you are looking for good food, great atmosphere and a place near the water, look no further than Union Park!
My wife and I had a great experience at Union Park. The food, service, and atmosphere were all of high quality. The restaurant is located in a beachside hotel near the main coastal road. The only downside is the parking—make sure to allow plenty of time during peak season. The decor is vintage Victorian, which is characteristic of Cape May. The artwork, drapes, and lighting all exude sophistication without the pretentiousness that often comes with this type of ambiance. On the evening we dined, we struggled to find parking, so I dropped my wife off to check in while I searched for a spot. By the time I was seated, it was twenty-five minutes past our reservation. I apologized to our server, who was gracious and completely understanding. The meal was delicious: well-prepared, tasty, and elegantly presented. I would highly recommend the lobster, which was perfectly cooked. Other standouts included the crab cake, fruit tart, and their local ice cream. The quality of the food, combined with the BYOB policy, made this restaurant a great value. We look forward to dining here again.
Union Park is an amazing restaurant! The food is absolutely delicious and the value for a Cape May restaurant is one of the best. The restaurant is clean and inviting and the staff is friendly and helpful! Highly recommend this restaurant the next time you are in Cape May!
Latest visit during Cape May Restaurant week and it did not disappoint. For the 69.00 price fix menu there were many options to enjoy an evening of culinary delight.
We went here for Cape May Restaurant Week! We loved everything we ordered. We definitely will be back again. We all ordered different appetizers. My SiL ordered Burrata salad, Daughter ordered crab cake and I ordered the Caesar salad. For entrees my SiL ordered the Short-rib over mashed potatoes. My daughter and I noth ordered the Twin Lobster tails over risotto. For dessert two tiramisus were ordered and the lemon tart! Bread was also included with dinner, however, normally there is an up charge for it. For beverages my SiL ordered a coffee and I had a diet coke. Ice water was also given and the service was impeccable. Only complaint was that the green beans were barely blanched. Otherwise everything was delicious and beautifully presented.
Decent overall, food was pretty good but I wasn’t extremely impressed. Sitting outside was beautiful and the staff was excellent though!
Excellent dinner and service. The main courses were so good I forgot to take a pic. I had the short rib and it was amazing, my wife had the steak also amazing. Desert, she had the fruit tart and I had the carrot cake both delicious. Espresso was perfect. I gave 4 stars only because it was too crowded, wall to wall people, not their fault, they're just too darn good.
My wife and I were staying at the hotel and decided to try the restaurant and we were not disappointed. The menu is limited but offers a nice spectrum of quality choices. Our meal was cooked perfectly. I went with the braised short ribs and they were tender and flavorful. Warm atmosphere and friendly wait staff. We enjoyed our dining experience at Union Park.
Food was pretty good and the display was even better. They only had a 3-course fixed menu for $60/pp with a few additions you could add. I added a side of lobster saffron risotto (not on the menu) for an additional $15; a bit expensive. They have a BYOB for free so that was pretty convenient, or you could buy wine by the bottle. Server was very nice. I originally ordered the duck, but it was too tender for my liking and it did not really come with any sides. The chicken came with more meat and two sides, and was a lot better. There was outdoor seating only, which was fine, but the tables were definitely not six feet apart, which was the only downside overall and because of that, it was very loud and I could not hear anything.
The restaurant is located in a historical building. The food was great, everything was delicious, presentation was nice, servers were friendly and courteous.
🎈 it's is never a fun time writing a less than stellar review. Unfortunately I would not recommend this place, food was amateur hour, it was cooked but then express microwaved after the exterior was hotter then fresh pavement but the inside was ok. The place was also dead on 8pm on a Friday night which was odd. We were served and in and out within 45 min... Not our idea of a relaxing dinner. Bummer 🙂↕️
We had a great time at Union Park and our server was wonderful. The food left us a little underwhelmed and a little disappointed. The burrata that was so cold and firm we wondered if we had received a substitute. The short ribs were a bit bland and under seasoned. And the filet was so over seasoned I had to ask if this was normal or if someone had made a mistake in the kitchen. We won’t rule out a return to try it again, but it won’t be at the top of our list.
The menu was traditional but the food was well prepared. The service was adequate but not very inviting or attentive. Our server was very cold. While a historic atmosphere, the decor was worn and rundown.
Apps came out cold. Octopus was very tender but no taste as well as the crab cake. Lamb was tasty however would not go back.
We found the food overrated and overpriced, which was very disappointing after reading all the rave reviews. I sent the vegetarian option back because it just didn't taste great. It was a curried lentil dish and although I like curry, the spices were heavy handed and overpowered the rest of the food. The short rib and lobster we also ordered were acceptable. The staff was lovely, helpful, and graciously replaced the lentil dish with salmon which unfortunately was overcooked and dry. We ordered from the "early dining" menu so I wondered whether they didn't give it the same attention as food ordered of the regular menu. The fruit tart was delicious, the best part of the meal.
Overall 1-star and that’s benefiting from the curve of a way overpriced food scene where many restaurants are lazily coasting, otherwise maybe 1/2. The food was a solid 2-3 stars at their price point (average $50 entree). I get it, restaurants can change for bread. But if I’m charged $7 for “artisanal” bread I expect warm artisanal bread, not cold, slightly stale Acme quality bread. Our group had the foie, octopus and tartare. All ok. We each had a different entree and they were all just ok. Salting was a little off, mostly under. My lamb was tasty but not worthy of $50. It is described as sitting on patatas and romesco. Most diners with experience in Spain would have trouble identifying that as “romesco.” I don’t know if Chef Schatz was out for the night but the kitchen needs to pick up their game. The server provided a bad 1-star experience. His demeanor was rude. He reminded me of a retired middle school teacher that most students didn’t like. Zero flexibility whatsoever. Did not introduce himself. He refused to take any food order until we ordered everything. No exceptions. Every interaction with him was cringe-worthy and unpleasant. Despite booking as a birthday celebration and being acknowledged on arrival as a birthday, dessert came and went, nothing happened. Other tables had a candle on a small tart. Ultimately, he said the “birthday woman” didn’t order a dessert so she didn’t get anything from the house. I addressed all with one of the owners on the way out. His response, “I’ll address it with the server, we’ll do better next time and make sure we don’t have the same server.” I dropped $500 last night (6 people, no alcohol), so feel some feedback is due.
We were repeat customer., We always looked forward to a special culinary experience at Union Park. This time I was most disappointed. My waitress recommended entrée was grisly and full of tendons. My wife entrée of salmon was described accompanied with a crab and crayfish. But there was no sigh on anything on the plate but a piece of broiled salmon. If the waitress asks if you want bread, and you say yes, it will cost you and extra $7. The bread was cold and chewy dinners rolls like you can get from the Acme for $2 a dozen. Several menu items on printed the desert were not available. Overall the experience lacked any presentation or culinary creativity, it was overpriced for the quality of the food. We have been here and enjoyed the creative cuisine in the past. What happened?
The food from appetizers to main course was awful. The bread basket for 7$ leaves alot to be desired. The 6 oysters fir $26 were miniscule not cold and very salty. The lobster were the size of a shrimp, salty and at $62 was a violation. Lastly the lamb entree at $50 was awful as well. Dry, very salty and whatever the side dish was that was beneath the lamb was horrendous. The meal spoiled our anniversary celebration. OVERPRICED but even if more moderately priced the food was bad.
When the server asked if we wanted a bread basket for $7, I was embarrassed for her. We come to Cape May every year & enjoy fine dining restaurants, also in other locations in NJ. I've never heard of such a thing! My husband asked for certain vegetables to be substituted as he was not feeling well. The answer was no. So, he ordered a side of mashed potatoes for $10. They were ice cold! His lobster tail was luke warm. My short ribs were very tender. It came with mashed potatoes & a vegetable $50. All were luke warm. We didn't even look at the dessert menu. We just wanted to leave. I don't know how a so called fine dining restaurant can charge these prices if they can't serve hot food! Never Again!
The food is terrible. This place is an Instagram/social media hype just like The Lobster House. I loved the inside, though. Too bad about the food. Should have left after they served cold bread for appetizer. When paying for an appetizer, it better be fresh and warm. No one wants days old bread. Yuck. It was downhill after that.
