We reached out to BeachLife Grotto to host a small but very important 80th birthday dinner for my dad. From the moment we arrived until we walked out the door, BeachLife hit all the right notes to make it a special evening. They greeted my dad with a Happy Birthday card and social message on the TV in the room. The server, Jeb, was fantastic; personable, knowledgeable , attentive without being pushy and welcoming. And the food was all excellent. The Thai beef skewers and Brussel sprouts were particular favorites, the Del Mar pasta was a big hit and generous portion and the simple fish was also excellent. Capped it off with mud pie and cookies that were also outstanding. All and all - a great night. Thanks again to the team!

Amazing whole snapper! The jasmine rice and the mango/papaya salad mix all together were incredible. We came with no plans and just stopped by — and we left very impressed! The flavors were perfectly balanced, the presentation was beautiful, and the staff was so welcoming. Definitely one of those unexpected gems that make your day. We’ll absolutely be back!

BLG is the new hot spot in the village with incredible service and amazing seafood. The location is on the west side of Catalina at Avenida del Norte. There is a seamless flow between the indoor space the outdoor areas that create multiple warm unique intimate spaces throughout the levels. Fresh seafood and great drinks and service really stand out at Beach Life Grotto. There is plenty of fish on the menu, and the oysters are superb. There are some unexpected flavor combinations and the chef is not afraid to take some chances which is very welcome. I don't recall trying a trout dip this good anywhere, scallops are very fresh and delicious, even something simple like the bread is a must try. The service is outstanding.. Jebediah, Ricari, Ryan.. the entire staff here is engaging, friendly, knowledgeable and they go that extra mile to make sure you have a great experience. Prices are not low but you are getting top quality ingredients here and a beautiful room that exudes understated tasteful beach elegance... combined with A plus service I don't have any complaints. Coming into the nice weather months the BL grotto is a great place to gather in the Village and enjoy one of the newest and best restaurants in the area.

Tucked into the heart of Redondo Beach’s bustling Riviera Village, Beachlife Groto is a fresh eat among the local dining spots, bringing a cool, coastal flair to the scene. We headed straight for the rooftop dining area, one of the two floors they offer, and it was the perfect choice—open, airy, and buzzing with the vibrant energy of the neighborhood. The staff were super welcoming, striking that ideal balance of attentive and laid-back, and our food arrived crazy fast. The California-style seafood menu had us hooked from the start, and we dove right in with Peruvian scallops that were amazed by a bold, flavorful curry sauce—a total standout. Pair that with their fantastic sourdough, and we were already sold. The main event didn’t disappoint either. The steamed clams and mussels were fresh and perfectly cooked, but the branzino stole the show—tender, flaky, and paired with grains that made every bite feel just right. The whole experience was wrapped in the lively, beachy vibe of Riviera Village, making it a night to remember. Bonus points: parking was a breeze with plenty of metered spots in a nearby lot, so no circling around in frustration. If you’re craving seafood with great service and a chill atmosphere, Beachlife Groto is the spot to hit in Redondo Beach. Definitely worth a visit!

This is a fantastic new restaurant! I will definitely be back for the clams and mussels. Not sandy at all, very plump and fresh, and the sauce is to die for. The bread it comes with is perfectly toasted and crunchy to dip in the gorgeous sauce. I could have probably eaten 4 slices of that bread with the sauce. The scallop appetizer was very unique - delicious with the meyer lemon and the green curry sauce and the fresh scallop. The tuna crudo had some chutoro on it and it was buttery and delicious. Awesome service, cute little spot with rooftop dining, and really nice food. I'll definitely be back for those clams and mussels, so good!

Second time at BeachLife Grotto and officially obsessed. The clams and mussels come swimming in this rich, garlicky, buttery broth that should be illegal—it’s that good. Pro tip: don’t trust yourself around the bread. It’s deadly in the best way and you’ll be mopping up every last drop. Cocktails? Dangerous. Balanced, bold, and sexy—especially anything Ryan’s shaking up behind the bar. His pours are strong, his banter’s sharper, and the whole vibe feels like a locals-only escape you almost don’t want to share. This spot hits every time. Already planning my third visit.

Great new restaurant in the Redondo Beach Riviera. The Vibe is all Beach Life to the point you feel like you are dining on the beach in Florida. Food was a ten with friendly service from valet to servers. We are not desert eaters but the dark chocolaty cake thing with mango sorbet was awesome!

BeachLife Grotto delivered an outstanding dining experience! I ordered the branzino, which was an absolute masterpiece. Perfectly cooked, the fish was topped with vibrant chimichurri, sun-dried tomatoes, and satsuma, creating a delightful balance of flavors. The addition of pine nuts added a nice crunch, and the presentation was stunning. I chose to sit outside on a chilly evening, but the outdoor heating was perfectly set up, keeping me warm and cozy throughout the meal. The ambiance was inviting and relaxing, making it a truly enjoyable experience. The staff were attentive and friendly, ensuring every detail was taken care of. BeachLife Grotto is a must-visit for anyone looking for exceptional food and a welcoming atmosphere. I can’t wait to come back and try more from their menu!

Finally after an extremely anticipated open, I was able to have dinner at the New BeachLife Grotto. And honestly coming from someone who's spent the last 20 years in kitchens across So Cal LA/OC area, it exceeded my expectations and was worth the wait. Chef Jacob Ramos & Crew should be talked about amongst chefs, GM's and foodies alike. The place is just unlike anything in the area, aesthetically, with a boutique upstairs and very relaxed vibes patio area. Im not forgetting this meal anytime soon. Every dish was executed with perfection, from first sight to last bite. The Branzino, the sea bass, the cold bar.......gtfoh🫠 only been opened 8 weeks, yet Everything seems still on point. If somebody mentioning this place to you, it's for damn good reason, if you stumbled onto it, you've just gold

Went there for opening night! WOW!! Wow wow wow and wow. I am not joking, this was probably the best restaurant experience we had in 2024! Such an unexpected high level and wonderful dinner. The service was great, everyone were kind. Good communication with our table even on small mistakes that happened with a missing item or timing (totally understandable as it was the first night they were open). But I have to make sure people understand, this is not like just any other riviera village or Redondo Beach spot, having dinner there was like being in vacation. The vibe is great, we also enjoyed the balcony upstairs while waiting for our table, a nice cool breeze and a comfortable couch, and later the food - oh yeah the food - SO GOOD! Try the seafood tower for sure, the fish is so fresh and delicious, and the drinks (including the non alcoholic creations by the bar staff) are unique and yummy. This type of establishment is really 5 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Jeb is HANDS DOWN the best waiter I’ve ever come in contact with. (I worked as a waitress for over 10 years). He is so kind, leads with love and energy and really sees people. He treated us with so much respect and humor! The food and drinks were great but Jebadiah is what we will come Back for over and over again! Also, the rooftop bar is the only one we know of in riviera village and is an entire vibe!

This was a great experience. I was invited to HOLIDAY PARTY & RIVIERA HOLIDAY STROLL by Joe Buck. The food, ambiance, and cocktails were great. I especially enjoyed the shrimp ravioli. Best I have ever had. The rooftop was a great vibe. I will definitely be coming back.

**5/5 Stars – Absolute gem for Friday afternoon happy hour! Perfect beachy escape** We popped into BeachLife Grotto on a sunny Friday afternoon around 4pm, right as happy hour was kicking off, and it instantly became one of our new favorite spots in the South Bay. Located in the heart of Riviera Village on Catalina Ave, this place nails that effortless coastal vibe the moment you walk in—surfboards on the walls, palm tree accents, laid-back Hawaiian tunes playing softly, and a welcoming "flip-flops welcome" energy that makes you feel like you're on a mini vacation without leaving Redondo Beach. We snagged a spot at the bar (no wait on a Friday afternoon—score!), and dove straight into their happy hour menu, which runs Tuesday–Friday from 4–6pm (and weekends earlier, but we hit the weekday window perfectly). Everything we tried was $5 or $10 and seriously impressive for the price—nothing felt like a "cheap happy hour compromise." We started with the **Truffle Fries** ($5) — crispy, generously truffled, and served with both ketchup and ranch. They disappeared in minutes. Next, the **Aged Sourdough Bread** ($5) with whipped butter and olive oil vinaigrette was surprisingly addictive—warm, crusty, and perfect for sharing. The **Gourmet Sliders** were a highlight: we got the **fried chicken** and **blackened fish** versions ($5 each), both juicy, flavorful, and topped perfectly. The blackened fish had just the right kick, and the chicken was crispy on the outside, tender inside. We also tried the **Baja Fish Taco** a la carte ($5)—beer-battered, loaded with lime crema, crunchy slaw, avocado, and salsa roja. Fresh, bright, and exactly what you crave by the beach. For drinks, the cocktails leaned into that tropical-beach theme without being overly sweet. I had a refreshing **California Classic** (something citrusy and vodka-based), and my partner went for one of their signature options—smooth, well-balanced, and strong enough to feel like a treat. The bartenders were friendly, attentive, and quick to chat about the menu or suggest pairings. The atmosphere on a Friday afternoon was ideal: lively but not overwhelming, with a mix of after-work locals, couples, and small groups unwinding. Sunlight poured in, the energy felt relaxed and upbeat, and you could smell the ocean air even though it's a short walk from the actual beach. They have a **rooftop sunset deck** (the only one in Riviera Village with a fireplace), which we didn't hit this time but definitely plan to next for golden hour views. Service was spot-on—our server was knowledgeable, quick with refills, and made us feel right at home. Portions were generous for happy hour pricing, and everything tasted fresh and thoughtfully prepared. It's clear this spot draws from the same BeachLife Festival spirit: quality food, good vibes, and celebrating that SoCal coastal lifestyle. If you're in Redondo Beach and want a fun, delicious, no-fuss happy hour spot to kick off the weekend, BeachLife Grotto is it. We'll be back soon—probably for brunch next time, since everyone raves about that too. Highly recommend! 🌊🍤🍹

What a wonderful place to have dinner! Beachlife Groto truly impressed me. The food was easily some of the tastiest I’ve had in the South Bay. I started with the Brussels sprouts, which were incredible, and then had the Petite Filet Mignon for my main course—perfectly cooked and absolutely delicious! I can’t wait to come back and try the rest of the menu. Highly recommend!

I've had breakfast, lunch, and dinner here. The location is easy to find, but unfortunately parking isn't. The restaurant layout has an open air upper deck. Perfect for summer time. When you first arrive you're met by a hostess who is very polite and welcoming. I've enjoyed the bar and the bartender is super friendly and knowledgeable. I prefer the upper deck. They even have an elevator in addition to stairway access to the upper level. The food is very good here and so is the service. All the servers that I've encountered have been very friendly, prompt, and attentive. One server that has waited on me most often said her name is Zohra. The food she's recommended has been very good. Since I enjoy trying new things that keeps me coming back.

I used to love going to beach life grotto, last time I was there in June it was amazing, but they have recently made some changes to their menu that left me very disappointed when I went this weekend. They no longer have some of their best dishes. The portions have reduced drastically, our $40 halibut portion was laughably small. The service, drinks, and ambience are still wonderful, but we were very disappointed in the food, hopefully they bring the scallops and steamers back and listen to the feedback!

Came here for dinner with my husband and 1 year old. Food took 45+ minutes to arrive. We ordered the cabbage appetizer (it was… just ok) the scallop dish and the fish of the day. Scallop dish was sad - it’s three small scallops (not sea scallops) with three potato chips and some brown goo. Scallops were overcooked on top of it. But the kicker was the fish dish - it was sprinkled with inedible ‘wood chips’ that turned out to be incorrectly cooked artichoke leaves. Both we and table next to us called out that these were inedible. In response, the restaurant manager offered to bring my one year old ice cream on the house (no my 1 year old doesn’t need ice cream). By that time we had to go because the food took so long that we couldn’t even send the fish back, so the restaurant gladly charged us full price for inedible fish and sent us on our way. I mean whatever I don’t care about $40 but feels like crappy service. The highlights were a very nice attentive waiter, the kids chicken meal, and delicious cocktails. But overall crappy experience. Would definitely not eat here again.

Our first and last time here. The place is really cute, we were sitting at the terrace upstairs and the decor and the atmosphere is really nice but that’s about it. The service was pretty slow with drinks and food. My husband waited for his Diet Coke refill for about 15min and he got it when we already finished eating. The menu for brunch had probably less than 10 items which surprised me considering it’s brunch only place. Only drip coffee which also surprised me but ok. I ordered eggs Benedict and it was the first time that I got that dish without any kind of bacon, salmon or similar. So basically for $22 I got two pieces of bread with two slices of tomate and two eggs. If you want some protein with your eggs, they are giving you two options: lobster for +$20 or crab cakes for +$15 which is outrageous. The potatoes weren’t good either. Some of the pieces were so fried that there was nothing left inside. Overpriced with no good service!

Giving 2 stars only because the one time we were actually able to sit down, the food was great and Michael is wonderful. Otherwise this would easily be a one-star review. Multiple times we were turned away despite many tables being visibly open because we were told they were “reserved.” So we decided to play by their rules and made a reservation in advance. When we arrived, we were then told that “reservations are not guaranteed” and that there were no outdoor tables available — which is exactly what we had reserved. This makes absolutely no sense. The whole experience was incredibly frustrating and disappointing. As locals who spend a lot of time in Riviera Village, it’s honestly shocking to be treated this way. Between the confusing policies and the poor communication, it really leaves a bad impression.

L

Place looked inviting from the outside with plenty of open seating, so much that the couple in front of us got to choose where they wanted to sit by the host. As soon as the host came back he said they were fully booked for the night and turned us away, which is fine, but then you go online to see they have tons of availability! This is disgraceful! Maybe the way we dressed? No because there would be signage or it would say online.. Maybe they racially profiled or discriminate on people’s looks! Bingo! Seems to be the only right answer! This isn’t the first time either based off other reviews. Based on the managers response they did have availability for later reservations but the host stated they were fully booked for the night.. so which is it?

Terrible experience . Was able to get seated . Completely ignored for about 10 minutes . One waiter came to the table and quickly took our drink orders. Didn’t introduce himself nor asked if we have dinned there before . Just generally not welcoming . Never brought our drinks . Then another waitress came asked if we had drinks sort of checked us out and left . After 20 minutes no drink and no order was taken. As we are getting up to leave first waiter came with a bottle of water, I told him we were leaving because we waited too long and were hungry , he simply said “ Oh ok “. No apology. We were walking out and an older gentlemen that worked there said “what happened did you not get taken care of ? “ and I told him “no and we are leaving “ and he grabbed my arm and insisted we stay and that he would buy us dinner . Seemed like a sweet gesture but also seemed like he was aware of this being a common thing . Maybe profiled by wait staff thinking a didn’t look like a big tipper or that we had a child with us ? My wife is a foreigner and it was just a completely embarrassing experience for us as a family .I do hope Managment takes this seriously and can manage the restaurant staff to accommodate the people more efficiently.
