More than a trattoria, this is a heartwarming place. If you enjoy good food in a rustic setting that's also a small museum of vintage items like antique radios and old postal and telegraph signs, this is the place for you. This trattoria specializes in risottos, and of the 12 available, I chose the one with Angus and creamy 40-month Grana Padano, a real treat. For my second course, I had a Patanegra cutlet, accompanied by mashed potatoes and Tropea onion mustard. The meat was tender and succulent, the mashed potatoes were delicate, and the mustard had a truly distinctive flavor. I finished with a delicious dessert, a cocoa sablé with hazelnut mousse. I ate very well, the service was fast, and the staff was kind and friendly. The walls also display farm tools used for growing rice, a symbol of the rural culture of Castel d'Ario, a small, hard-working town in the Po Valley. About 200 meters away, you can also see the birthplace of the great racing driver Tazio Nuvolari. I loved everything about it: the setting, the food, the hospitality, and the atmosphere.
From the outside, this trattoria looks like a renovated old workshop; inside, it's a rustic space, well-furnished with vintage items. There are a few smaller rooms on the ground floor, and a large space upstairs that can also be used for receptions. The menu is classic local fare, with risotto taking center stage. It's a shame that the risotto can only be ordered for two people at a minimum. Since there were four of us, we only got to try two, one with catfish and one with pesan + saltai. The risotto was truly delicious. We also had the frogs: good, but perhaps a little bland. The upstairs dining room is spacious and the tables are well-spaced, but when it fills up, it gets noisy. The smaller rooms on the ground floor seem quieter. The service is top-notch, with extremely kind, friendly, and attentive waiters; there's no need to ask; they get there first. Definitely a place to recommend.
...a magnificent sensory experience...the professional and welcoming staff...the appetizer with exquisite cold cuts, excellent cheeses, delicious polenta.... 3 superb risottos, the pumpkin ravioli equally exquisite and the warm apple tart...super super super...well done everyone!!!! and the place is beautiful!!!! Congratulations!!!
I have been to this restaurant and I really liked it. The place is very well-kept and welcoming, with a pleasant atmosphere. The staff is kind and attentive, always available. The strong point is definitely the risotto: creamy, well-cooked and with quality ingredients. The flavors are particular but balanced, perfect for those who love good food. It is a place where you eat really well and where it is worth returning. Really delicious desserts.
Can I say that I fell in love with this place? Too bad I live far away, but I will definitely look for excuses to stop by and come back to you. Really everything was super good, risotto alla pilota PHENOMENAL and a nice abundant dish, the second course was the cheek and puree, to say the least exquisite and you gave me the final blow with the lambrusco sorbet that was not good, MORE. guys, congratulations really, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT. see you soon!

Great restaurant Really amazing food
Super
Tasty food and friendly staff, recommended!
The owner is an extremely nice lady and she cooks awesomely well.
A truly welcoming and informal place, where you immediately feel at ease. We came specifically for the boiled meats, which, honestly, we found to be average, neither good nor bad. However, the real discovery was the first course: the 'Risotto Chicco' was an absolute gem, truly DELICIOUS! An incredible flavor that turned the meal around. The price was absolutely reasonable for the overall experience. If you're passing by, the risotto is a must!
A very large trattoria, suitable for tables of thirty and more, spread over two levels. The welcome was passable; on Saturday night, the place was packed, even though it was the second sitting and the rush had just passed. Excellent atmosphere, very acceptable acoustics, and the waiter taking orders was very friendly, professional, and cheerful, even though he was very young. There were three of us: the pike in sauce with polenta arrived promptly and was delicious. The boiled meats arrived after 7-8 minutes, unfortunately rather cold, with the accompanying sauces arriving 2-3 minutes later. The meat was good, but the boiled meat wasn't as steaming hot as you'd expect. A shame. The house wine by the glass was very good, a Valpolicella superiore. The ice cream with Ibra under grappa was without any particular notes.
Good but not great; Antipasto platter €18. Polenta bowl, 3 slices of salami, 3 slices of fiocco, 3 slices of coppa, 2 pieces of parmesan, 2 pieces of soft cheese, giardiniera. No anchovies. Boiled meat platter €25, very expensive for the average; good meat, good sauces, the sore point, the cotechino was truly awful. A bit of the tongue from the boiled meats was paid for, the difference from other places. Dessert, a Lambrusco for 5 for €15, water and coffee €53 each. The quality/price ratio is not up to par. Good service, excellent atmosphere.
