Sunrise Biscuit Kitchen is a Chapel Hill favorite known for its large, hot, and fluffy biscuits. The chicken biscuits are a standout, and service is generally fast and friendly, even with long lines. Some find the cinnamon rolls disappointing, while others rave about them.
Tip: Go during the summer on a weekday for quicker service, or around 9am for minimal waiting. Be prepared for a potential line, especially during events.
Bout my second or third time being here. Got the sausage egg and cheese biscuit and last time got the chicken, egg n cheese. Always warm fresh and tasty. I will admit sometimes it hit or miss with the customer service but all in all the food absolves them of any of that, this isn’t exactly a place with a dining area atmosphere. It’s a pop in and out fast food joint.
This is drive thru only! Prepare for a wait in the morning! But totally worth it. Had biscuit with egg and cheese! Delicious, buttery, melt in your mouth biscuit! Highly recommend the cinnamon roll as well! Amazing local place!
I had a chicken sandwich was good but it is cinnamon rolls that will bring me back again and again they were amazing.
Ordered drive though and they were pretty quick! Customer service was really sweet. We ordered the chicken egg and cheese biscuit, hashbrowns, bad grandpa and cinnamon rolls. All were good portion sizes and pricing. Sweet tea was Great! We try to eat a little more on the lower sodium side so if you are monitoring that as well, be careful! Not salty but definitely salted.
4.5 stars rounded up. Delicious biscuits! Our favorite in the area for a quick takeout breakfast. Can be a little hit or miss depending on the day. If there’s a line it’s usually better! We always get the sausage and egg biscuit, it’s so good we’ve never ventured out.
I saw this place on the Travel Channel over five years ago and I finally tried them out. It wasn't busy (two days until Christmas). I love those biscuits and cinnamon roll!!!! I recommend the menu, everything off the menu. And the woman working the window makes it taste better when she says "enjoy."
We saw this spot on TV and stopped on our way to the beach, loved our meal. Biscuits were warm and moist, eggs were fluffy and the cheese was flavorful. My partner got one with bacon and he loved it! Didn't care for the hash brown, it was super greasy and tasted like oil to me. Will try a different side next time. Will definitely return anytime we are in the area!
I haven’t been here in at least 15 years, so I stopped in today while I was in town. The fried chicken biscuit was just as good as I remembered — and that buttery, fluffy biscuit? Exactly what a good ‘ol southern biscuit should be! I went close to closing time, so there was no line and I was greeted with a big smile. It’s a good thing I don’t work or live close by anymore, I’d be visiting way too often!

Was in town on business! Food was sooooooo good and service was top notch ! It was tasty and clearly fresh! The cinnamon rolls were to die for!
Biscuits are special and served hot. Breakfast platters and chicken and biscuits are excellent. Fast service too.

The bad GramPa combo honest review: ... the chicken bacon egg & cheese biscuit was rich and buttery, very tasty but I was disappointed in the tiny little hash brown that came with it. You really need about 2 of those little triangles, at least, to enjoy with your biscuit. The ice coffee is litERRally flavored coffee with ice so don't expect Starbees! Plus you have to mix it up yourself (with cream and sugar... try dissolving that in the cold coffee with ice cubes ...yeahh no!) Disheartening. Lastly, I also had the cinnamon roll which has this biscuit type vibe covered with cinnamon sugar and icing. I enjoyed the food overall. Give them a try, breakfast is important!!! The customer service was pleasant and the food came out pretty quickly.
If you're in a hurry and craving a quick Southern-style bite, Sunrise Biscuit is worth a stop—but know what you're getting into. The walk-up service is impressively fast. However, don't expect a warm welcome. The staff can be noticeably curt, bordering on rude. Friendliness isn't on the menu here, and you're likely to feel more like you're a burden than a customer. Despite the lackluster service, the food exceeded my expectations. The cinnamon roll is a standout—flaky, warm, and just the right amount of sweet. It’s the kind of pastry that makes you forget how grumpy the cashier was. The plain biscuits themselves are cheap, light, and buttery. I wouldn’t recommend the cheddar cheese biscuit as it’s a plain biscuit with what looked like a slice of Kraft cheese. I think the menu item should be named biscuit with cheese verse cheddar biscuit. Sunrise Biscuit nails the “fast” and the “flavor,” but drops the ball on hospitality. If you can overlook a rough attitude in exchange for a hot, delicious treat, it's a solid stop. Just don't come looking for Southern charm—only Southern carbs.
We found this place online while waiting for a family member at the Amblutory center. We road over and looked at their menu board and once we ordered they had our food ready almost as soon as we got to the drive-through. As we were going around the building when driving in one of the cooks waved at us. The people were friendly and service was fast. I had "the Grandpa". I got coffee to drink. The coffee was decent. The hash brown was quite greasy and a little mushy so that wasn't my favorite. The biscuit was very good. The biscuit portion was fresh and had a good texture. Definitely homemade. Their was a good portion of eggs and bacon which all tasted good and the real cheddar cheese was great. The star on my biscuit was the chicken. It was breaded and had a great flavor. The spices they use were great. If I am ever around to go back I would probably just get a chicken biscuit next time. Overall I would certainly recommend this place for a quick bite for breakfast. Note they are drive-through only. This is not a sit down place.
LISTEENNNNN, if you want breakfast and you want it for a decent price, this is the spot. I really wish they had closer locations to the Raleigh area. Anytime I'm over near Chapel Hill. This spot is…

Wow oh wow this are terrific biscuits. Lots of choices on fillings. Grandmother's is a good choice. Truly delicious we went several times
Fell off so bad. Sausage burnt into a hockey puck. Weirdly textured chicken. Biscuits usually still good but some times dry. It's a shame. Great customer service tho.

Great biscuits wasn't expecting the size, but great portion. Would recommend, with the understanding customer service isn't the best. Personally didn't care for the cinnamon roll but overall 7/10
I love me a Sunrise BLT biscuit but the prices are too much. I went last week and got a soda and 1 biscuit and paid $9. Come on, Sunrise! I can't afford you anymore.
The biscuits are very good, but prices have gone up and portions are smaller than they were before. Also, my order is wrong about half the time.
This place is way over hyped. When I have visitors, I like to take them on a chicken biscuit tour, and include Sunrise because the hype. No more. Yesterday, I went and got a tiny piece of chicken. See picture. More than one bite of the biscuit deserves chicken! Also very expensive for what you get.
First and last time going to this place one of the worst biscuit sandwiches I've ever had almost $9 for a bland soulless flavorless chicken biscuit with save your money and go to bojangels
Horrible! Overcooked ham that tastes wrong. Big biscuits that are tasteless. I dont see what the hype is about. Yea it's cheap but cheap isn't always good. Yuck.

It was terrible. The biscuit was falling apart. The sausage was over cooked. over priced. Hash brown was greasy.
Been going to this place for several months. Customer service has not been great for each of those visits. Today was the last time I will be going there. Person running the drive thru saying “what do you want” as soon as you pull up, with this nasty attitude. Lady giving out the food only puts two creamers for two cups of coffee. We asked for honey and ketchup at the window, but did not give it unless we returned the bag of food. And The customer service just ruins the experience and makes the food not enjoyable overall. For 22$ not worth.
This was my first time visiting Sunrise Café after hearing so many great things, but unfortunately my experience was the complete opposite. The person on the microphone was extremely rude and condescending. I politely asked about menu options for someone who does not eat pork, and instead of being helpful, they gave very short, dismissive answers and made me feel like an inconvenience. There was no line at the time, so there was no reason for the lack of patience or attitude. I was surprised to learn that their breakfast menu offers virtually no non-pork options. On top of that, their hamburger is not 100% beef—it contains soy—and they do not offer an all-beef hot dog. Everything is mixed meat, which was not clearly communicated. Overall, the poor customer service combined with the very limited menu options made this a very unpleasant experience. Needless to say, I will not be returning. I wanted to share my experience so others are aware before visiting, especially if you have dietary restrictions or expect friendly, helpful service.
First off there sanitation grade is never good. 2nd there charging for packs of honey tht have spoiled and ruined my food. I didnt think honey went bad I guess its NOT HONEY. The food is only good 50% of the time anyway you guys screwed me for the last time. The manager dude is such a Karen too
