Thanks for your staff for a hard session for our rugby match v New Zealand the staff and service were fabulous. However, rugby people drink way more guinness than a st Patrick's day crowd. All the best
Went to watch the CWC finals. The fish and chips + curry was awesome. Definitely recommend. Also get the bread pudding! Great bar, great soccer bar and great food! Had an awesome time
This is my go to place to watch soccer matches of the Premier League and the champions league! I love the vibe, one of the most authentic Irish pubs in the city. My favourite is the Irish breakfast. The beer selection is good. Prices are reasonable and the atmosphere is fantastic!! I highly recommend this place for a drink while watching soccer if you’re a fan.
I came here for happy hour on a Friday. It was easy to get a table and there was plenty of room at the bar. Our server was wonderful at the table. He was prompt and attentive. We ordered the corned beef rolls, stuffed cheese puffs, smoked salmon bites, burger, boxty with cheese, and the bread pudding. Everything tasted amazing. I love how their menu is unique from other bars. Definitely don't sleep on the boxty as it's so hard to find at a pub here in Chicago. This is also one of the pubs that you will find Smithwick's at as well! It's so hard to find a proper Irish pub these days! Also don't sleep on the happy hour specials.
Guiness is 9.25 a pint but very good. Shepards pie was amazing
The portion size is massive for appetisers. They are definitely meant for sharing. Nice, cozy and laid back Irish pub in Chicago area. The music is great. Service was fast and friendly. Food was tasty, the curry chips were awesome. They have happy hours on weekdays Mon-Fri 5.00 to 7.00 pm. The drinks were strong and tasty. The place was almost full and seating is first come first serve.
We loved our time here!!! The drinks were amazing, and reasonably priced. Service was impecable, and the food was also very tasty. The pub has dim lighting and there are plenty of seats, we went on a slow night and we found a spot nestled in the back. It was very private and there are also seats facing the street, so you can enjoy your cocktail with the Chicago view. We will definitely be back!
Great bar, I make sure to visit any time I'm in town. Great service and environment, and the Guinness is perfect.
Delightful Irish Pub, Great food & service. Quiet corners or Sports bar...they offer both. Staff were friendly & professional. It's a must stop when you come to Chicago. Bangers & Mash, Black & White pudding and Fish & Chips were awesome. Highly recommended. A Great Craic..!!
Came from Colombia to Chicago and looked for best Irish breakfast and Fado came up. Didn't disappoint. Maybe missing the beans a little bit. But taste was really good.
Four of us came in early afternoon on a Saturday. The seating at that time was abundant with about 30-40 other patrons. Our server came over quickly and was energetic and helpful with answers about beer choices and entrees. Fish and Chips is one of my favorites so I ordered along with a red ale draft. The beer was cold and the fish was hot and very tasty. My friends and I totally enjoyed our afternoon and I can't wait to go back.
In town for Labor Day weekend and found a great spot to watch Premier League soccer ⚽️ My server Dani was excellent!😊...kept a comfortable eye on me while managing multiple tables. Drinks were on point and food was tasty. I highly recommend for a good morning sports vibe👍🏾
Killer food, Huge Irish Draft list and atmosphere is absolutely amazing. The place might be a little rough on the edges but it's been open for every lol. The staff is fantastic and very friendly.
They open early for Manchester United matches, so we found our way there for coffee, Irish breakfast, and beer. I've never been to Ireland to compare, but the black and white pudding is fantastic. Texture comes from the oats within, both had a little spicy heat to them.
A definite place to go to in Chicago. Superb food . I had the Corned Beef entree. It's very busy but worth the wait for a table.
YES. Just yes. LOVE this place. I'm not big into seafood, first time I had fish tacos and they were PERFECT. Side note, there's a machine here where you upload a picture to print it on the foam of Guinness and it's SO incredibly genius. I don't have any pictures but well worth it
I loved this Irish pub a lot, I was looking for a place to watch World Cup 2022, in a nice friendly ambient while having drinks and food, the place exceeded my expectations. Food was fabulous, avast choice of beers and drinks.
The food was amazing but the star of the show was their blackberry bramble. It haunts my dreams.
Great little pub spot. Bartenders were fast and friendly, drinks were superb, and the place had a nice laid back vibe. Cocktails prices were decent, about $12-14.
Fadó’s: A Chicago Classic That Still Delivers So there I was, strolling into Fadó’s to pick up my dinner. It’s been a solid 15 years since I last set foot in this iconic River North spot—15 years since I swapped the Windy City for the ATL. But here I was, back in Chicago during December, when this town becomes the definition of festive magic. Cue a minor hiccup: for some reason, the online pickup orders weren’t showing up. No food waiting for me. Big deal? Nah. It’s a Wednesday night, and I’m standing in one of the best places this city has to offer. And the General Manager (a bald guy, whose name I wish I caught) was already on it. With a smooth, professional ease, he offered me an ale on the house to soften the wait. And honestly? Waiting at Fadó’s isn’t exactly a hardship. If you’ve never been here—or to River North, for that matter—add it to your bucket list. Fadó’s isn’t just a bar; it’s a rite of passage. Belly up to their stunning Irish bar, soak in the warm, welcoming vibe, and you’ll understand why it’s been a cornerstone of Chicago nightlife for decades. Before I knew it, my food was ready. Less than ten minutes, and oh, was it worth it. Listen, I’d completely forgotten how special their fish and chips are. Two massive pieces of golden-battered cod, crisp on the outside, melt-in-your-mouth tender on the inside. Pair that with thick-cut, perfectly seasoned chips and a criminally fresh coleslaw that ties the whole dish together with just a sprinkle of salt. Hats off to the chef—this meal was perfection. And then the memories hit me. Fadó’s was my go-to back in the day. After work, when I was single, chasing dreams (and maybe some dates) in the infamous Viagra Triangle—a term only true Chicagoans understand. But walking into Fadó’s again reminded me why Chicago will always be the best city in the world, especially during Christmas. The lights, the energy, the hospitality—it’s unmatched. Speaking of hospitality, let me circle back to the GM. This guy embodied what makes Chicago special. Friendly, genuine, and eager to make things right—not because he had to, but because he wanted to. It’s a lost art in many cities, where the bottom line trumps everything else. But here? It felt like stepping back into a time when hospitality was king. So, to the GM and the chef: cheers to you. You’ve not only kept this place alive—you’ve made it better. To anyone visiting Chicago: do yourself a favor and stop by Fadó’s. Try the fish and chips, or their incredible shepherd’s pie. Belly up to that beautiful bar and soak in the magic. Chicago gets a bad rap, but trust me—it’s the greatest city in the world, especially during the holidays. And Fadó’s? It’s the heart of it all. I’ll be back again, and next time, it won’t take me 15 years. Cheers! Apologies about the grainy picture. I must have thumb printed my lens before I took the pic. It doesn’t do it justice, come see for yourself and you’ll agree!
Classic Irish pub. Lots of good food, beer, cocktail and happy hour choices. Love the beer choices. Really love the fried goat cheese with jalapeño honey!!
Came on Halloween for one quick drink before catching a show. Ended up staying for two rounds because the bartenders were so entertaining. Shawn took care of us right way. Shawn, Tyler, and Johnny were all dressed as Monks from the Monty Python and they were truly entertaining! Made the whole vibe light and easy! All the food that was coming out look delicious. Can’t wait to go back to try it. Would recommend (even not on Halloween) 10/10
There’s so many great things to say about this place. I’ve been here quite a few times for different occasions. I also like to stop in every so often and just enjoy my-time having a Guinness. If you’re visiting town I do recommend checking this place out. if you like a cool, relaxing, old Irish bar kind of vibe.
Fun, lively Irish bar with beer, liquor and creative cocktail menu. Loved the mezcal drink with watermelon balls as relish. Live music when we came on Saturday so very loud environment but the singer was totally legit!
We loved this pub! Run by an Irishman and a fantastically friendly staff, this is a great place to come and meet up with friends, grab a delicious bite, perhaps have a first date (table next to us) watch a game and grab a pint! They pull a perfect pint of Guinness. But I was super excited for a proper fry (Irish breakfast) . Black pudding, white pudding, rashers, Irish sausage... satisfied a craving that isn't easy to appease in the US. The fish and chips were equally as fantastic. We had a great server, darn if I can't remember his name. Super friendly and engaging young man! We will definitely pop back in here on our next visit to beautiful Chicago.
Service and food were great. Was unsure if the place was even open Despite knowing exactly where it was. They could use some signs or lights on the front to let people know it’s a pub!
Walked in and sat right down. Great service. Decent happy hour specials even though we were there to eat dinner. I had the fish and chips which were excellent. Great taste, decent portion, slaw had an interesting taste but I enjoyed it. I normally don't like steak fries but these were really good. My son had the corned beef and cabbage. He thought the corned beef was a little dry. I had a bite and thought it was ok. Atmosphere was everything an Irish pub should be. If ever back in Chicago, we would come back.
This was a great spot with such a perfect selection of traditional and interesting pub fare. The bar mixed up a great old fashioned and the food was so delicious. I had the lamb French dip with a salad. Even the salad was really flavorful with quality, crunchy lettuce and veggies. The French dip was awesome. Really soft bread and nice, thick au jus.
Went last week for Fish and Chips- Very good (from a NZer). Back tonight and had the double cheese burger - best burger I've had since living in USA (7 weeks). Great beer selection. Friendly staff
We absolutely loved this spot. Came here to watch the Stanley cup championship and stayed for the beer and atmosphere. The food was reasonably priced and better than expected for a pub. The service was amazing and we even got our faces on a Guinness! If we visit Chicago again, I'm definitely coming back here.
Nice Irish Pub with a great atmosphere especially for St. Patrick’s Day. The drinks were on the pricey side but they had a great selection. The live band upstairs was a great touch.
Great place to watch soccer. They have an extensive selection of beers, both bottles and draft. Typical pub food, as expected. Good wings and very polite and prompt service. I would definitely get back there to watch soccer games and have a great time.
Always been a nice place with friendly service. My go to drink is the half Guinness half cider, remember Guinness always floats to the top. lol Today had some of my friend's Guinness BBQ wing that reminded me of a flavor of backyard BBQ.
The place was packed with rugby players, everyone was having a good time. The Guiness was really good... Gotta try a spice bag... You won't regret it!
Used to be old after work stomping grounds for me back in the day. Recently returned for a private event. Still same great FADO as I remember. Great cocktails, great service. Did not order food but good looking menu. Think I will host my wake there 😁
We actually were headed to a different restaurant for dinner, when we were turned away because we hadn't made a reservation (and they were full, full). Oops! But our mistake turned into a gift when we happened up on Fado. Admittedly, it was extremely loud making it difficult to chat, but the food more than made up for it! Because I wanted to try a couple of different things, I chose 2 apps. I had the corned beef rolls and the brussel sprouts and, good grief, those things did NOT disappoint! Yum! My husband had the fish & chips and he said it was the best he's ever had (and he loves a good fish & chips so has it often). I'm sorry that I don't recall our waitress' name, but she did a great job serving a busy area. Overall, we REALLY enjoyed our visit there and will make it a priority stop anytime we are near one!
I rented out the top floor of Fado's for my 50th birthday party. I was nervous about the evening but everything went perfectly from the atmosphere, to the food, and the service! I ordered a lot of food off their catering menu and they presented it elegantly with signs and decor. The food was also excellent and tasty. My guests loved the cheese puffs, salmon bites, penne pasta, and more! The manager on duty, bartender, servers, and other service staff cared for me and my guests throughout the whole night. They took care of everything. Since it was during the holidays, all of the decorations and lighting made the venue festive. We also played our own music and overall everyone had an amazing time. There were tables for people to sit and eat, an area for dancing, an elevated table for the cake and bday decorations, and a nice rustic bar for hanging out. Thank you Fado's for making my 50th birthday an amazing and memorable event! I highly recommend Fado's for anyone looking for a beautiful space with qualify food and service for any special event.
Had an absolutely fantastic time at Fado’s in the city for my son’s engagement! The atmosphere was buzzing and the staff worked as a well-oiled machine. A special shoutout to Clair, who went above and beyond to take care of us. Her service was top-notch—friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable about the menu. The drinks were great, but the service made it a truly memorable night. We’ll definitely be back, largely thanks to her! Highly recommend asking for her if you visit.
We visited Fado to watch the Liverpool football match during a recent visit to Chicago. We had an amazing afternoon! Lovely bar, good drinks and excellent service by the lovely Claire! I only wish we lived nearby so we could visit more often
Food was absolutely delicious, really good expresso martini and our server was great! Only negative was the mens restroom door has a stick to it and hard to open.
The Buffalo cauliflower app was delicious. The pretzel was okay, too salty. I had bone in wings and I did not enjoy it. The sauce was dry and the meat was not tender. The burger was decent. Great vibes for people to eat and hangout.
Best guinness, I'd put it up there with Ireland, they must go through a lot of it for them to be so fresh, only thing I wish there were more drink specials a.nd urinals in men's room, always stop by when I'm in Chicago
This is an absolute legacy! My favorite sports bar to watch premier league games. This is a United club so be prepared to see mad crazy ManU fans who get very loud. Food comes out slow but is good.
We rented the middle floor for a wedding engagement and it worked out great. Service was so helpful and prompt. So friendly. Small bite food is perfect for quick eating. Bar sliders were my favorite. Not too loud either for gatherings, easy to talk. Everything was just perfect
Great food and Guinness. Used to be a United bar. They've since taken their focus away from being "the" United bar in Chicago. However, people still congregate here to watch Yanited. Only problem is one of their bartenders is a Chelsea fan and he chats shite about United which is a weird approach when so much of the clientele are there to watch their team.
Come here for the games, come here for the old dark sticky floor Irish pub atmosphere and the hundreds of beer selection. I have been drinking here for as long as I can remember, but I have never eaten here until now. Now there is good bar food and there is Fado bar food. The food here is mediocre at best from what I had during brunch. Everything was overcooked, overly salty with that old brown gravy over it. If you are drunk or hung over, salty food will taste good regardless, but I do not suggest you come here for the food at all. I have had better breakfast at Denny's.
Came here to watch the Champions League Final and we had fun. The food and service were decent as well. BUT your policy to let people in when there are no free tables, so they can stand and watch the game is such bs. Its not fair to those who came early and got a table for friends. I came like 2 hours early to get a table, and my friends who came later were not allowed in because “you were at full capacity”
Fish n chips were good, wedges were great. Chill vibes not too loud on a Wednesday night.
Usually this spot is reliable and I have had fun here all the other times, but this last Sunday I came in with my mom and they totally ignored us. We weren't addressed at all and after 20 minutes, we decided to leave. It seemed like they were distracted by the game. Pretty disappointed because I was excited to have mimosas.
Really upset. This is our 4th visit in the 1.5yrs we’ve lived here. And this is the worst experience! We ordered 2 signature cocktails. An old fashion that tasted like bitters (with a dark red color) & they added “soda water” to fix it! WHAT?!? And my Jameson and ginger beer only tasted like ginger beer. No lime. No bronze color to show whiskey in the drink. The food. I remember over easy eggs being runny. Mine were over hard fried eggs. Something is wrong here. Saturday night? I’m sorry. Our last experiences were amazing. You can fail once! But this was so bad and the attitude from the bartenders when I ask for the drinks to be fixed was just rude. I was afraid to complain about my over hard “over easy eggs”. You want the star comment? Thank you for using “hopefully” luxardo cherry in the old fashion! It’ll be a while guys. Bring back the A team and managers that love to give tours on St Pattys Day. You guys rocked!!!!
