Wow! What an incredible place! We tried the caesar salad and nachos. The salad was very cold and fresh, and well dressed. The croutons were excellent. But the nachos? We were blown away! They put SUCH a good amount of toppings on, not stingy at all. And the chips themselves were even good alone and had a crisp. We tried the mezcal marg and paloma- again, both were great. Goldie was our server and he was SO incredibly nice! I don’t even want to say he had great customer service because he just felt extremely genuine and lovely. My only con is that we sat in the patio, went there intentionally for it because the weather was that sweet spot of just the right warmth with a light breeze. But the patio is covered, so we got none of the breeze and the heat was trapped. So maybe sit inside or choose a chilly day or evening time. It’s an easy workaround for such a great place. We’ll definitely be back!
Really enjoyed my experience here! The queso fundido, fish taco, and Pepino mocktail were my faves! The flautas were decent but could use more flavor. Get the tres leches if you have room for dessert! Ambience is great especially since they have indoor and outdoor seating so there’s great natural lighting toward the back. They also had a DJ spinning vinyl on Saturday night. Best of all, the server was great and the food came out fast…s/o to Goldie. Excited to go back!
Delicious food great service excellent atmosphere many GF and veggie options!! Lots of fun cocktails too
Friendly staff and a really nice covered outdoor patio. All the food was very good and I really enjoyed their Paloma! Prefect place to stop in before a concert
My sister and I was welcomed by JayJay! He was an awesome host, he showed us around and made us feel so comfortable. The atmosphere is fantastic you have your choice of the Alderman Room (quiet place good for a date, but you can’t order food in there), the bar which is great for socializing No tv which is great! The outdoor area has heater lamps that hang above you & work just great! Those lamps make it easy for you to enjoy your food and conversation’s! I Love it and will return! Thank you to the entire staff!
The best chicken flautas I've ever had, their food is delicious & omg the pepino shot is so refreshing, on top of that there were waiters/servers cleaning our tables every 15 min which was nice because we were not getting over crowded with empty plates and drinks over taking our table, the only upside was their machine to make piña coladas was not working and I really wanted to try it, other than that everything was great.
Really appreciate attentive service, spaciousness and overall vibe more than anything. Went to Luna across first cause wanted to get smthg new, but left within 10 min cause staff simply doesn’t acknowledge you. Grabbed tacos and guac at the bar, everything was solid and very friendly attitude from all the staff within :)
Sweet corn tamales and burger were decent. One of the best pub burger I’ve had. Taco meat was a bit dry. I haven’t tried but my friends said Chilaquiles was great.
Went in on a Sunday morning and had a wonderful brunch at Pilsen Yards! We made a reservation at 11:30a, but there were plenty of seats available in the dining room. We didn't sit on the heated outdoor patio, but it looked very nice! The service was really fast and friendly, and our waiter gave some really great recommendations. My partner and I both enjoyed all of our food and drinks!
Love this place! Festive atmosphere, attentive service, and yummy food! We sat in the lovely outdoor patio which was covered, heated, and with open sides (very safe and still intimate). Reservation times are strictly enforced and unfortunately on a Saturday night we weren't able to extend (understandably), but we were able to enjoy our many rounds of drinks and apps and meal at a fairly leisurely pace. Cocktails were so delicious we wished we could have stayed longer! Note, if you get the pibil entree, it does come with homemade tortillas, which are hidden on the bottom. Shout out to our awesome server Johnny! He gave great recommendations and took excellent care of our party! Great spot and can't wait to return!
Top tier. One of my absolute favorites in the city! I frequent Pilsen Yards, especially in the summer. The food is always good, fast, and hospitality is unmatched. They have great artwork throughout, and an amazing outdoor patio, and a speakeasy to close out the evening! Favorite dish: Enchiladas, Shrimp Tacos, Nachos, and Crepes for dessert. Favorite drinks: Heat of Passion + Cadillac Margarita
We stopped by before our reservation, but were seated very quickly. They were very enthusiastic. Served very quickly. The place itself was very nice and had a cool vibe, pretty busy especially outside since the weather was nice and warm. We had the micheladas, which were good. We also had two appetizers: The queso fundido (vegetarian)- really yummy, this was my favorite from all items The Fire roasted shishitos- these were good and sort of interesting, not what I expected but good! We each had an entree: Queso Al Pastor Tacos- my partner did not love these and they were just okay Chile Relleno- without the goat cheese, I am vegetarian and was unfortunately not impressed. The veggies inside were not thoroughly cooked, just not great overall. We did love the ambiance and would return, so we concluded that maybe it’s meant to be more of an appetizer and drinks kind of place. If you are in the area and like “Latin fusion” then I would recommend!
Simultaneously energetic and chill vibe. Perfect patio, can't wait to come again. Friendly and Fun service staff from host to bartender to server (all around). Food was incredible and service fast. Drinks were very well made. Avocado relleno, shrimp ceviche, taco arabe, shrimp tacos, nachos.
This was my second time at Pilsen Yards, and honestly, I’m glad I gave it another try. The first visit didn’t really do it for me, can’t even remember exactly why, but this time was a totally different experience. I sat at the bar and ordered the chicken flautas. They came out looking fancy, Four crispy flautas stacked up with a ton of arugula, pickled onions, crema, and a splash of salsa. The chicken was juicy and seasoned well, and the flautas had that perfect crunch. One funny detail, the salsa on top tasted just like Valentina, which threw me at first, but it worked. Just a heads-up: the food here isn’t your abuelita’s cooking. So if you’re expecting super traditional flavors, you might be surprised. But if you’re into something different, it’s definitely worth checking out. Service was solid too, the bartender was friendly, the ambiance phenomenal and the food came out pretty fast. Glad I gave it another shot.
Another great find while exploring our city. On the way back from Hyde Park we ran across this great place. Mid-afternoon on a Saturday, with Happy Hour to boot, we enjoyed some very good food items, suggested by our friendly and efficient waitress. The open space out back is a good spot for a cold beer on a warm summer afternoon. We’ll definitely be back next time we’re in the neighborhood.
I would say without blinking that this is one of the top 1% of restaurants in Chicago. Fantastic food, atmosphere, service and overall experience. The coliflor was delectable and I've not eaten anything like it in my entire life. Very cute vibe and ambiance. Our waiter, Rafael, was amazing. The alderman speakeasy room was outstanding. I can go on and on about how fantastic this place is. I would highly recommend it!
Went with a group a few weeks ago for my friends birthday dinner. This is officially our spot when in the area. The service amazing. The ambiance amazing. The drinks amazing. The food amazing. Kudos to the whole crew :)
Second to last stop of the weekend, came across the awesome place that was a little empty probably since it was 1pm on a Friday. We ordered a Cruz Blanca and a Oscar Valentin. They were super delicious, unfortunately we had just eaten so we didn't get any food but the menu looks good. We will be back to try food and more drinks!
Loved this place! The corn tamales and carrots were so good. Didn’t get photos of the rest but everything was delicious, especially the plantain dessert. The patio is a great vibe and service was excellent. Can’t wait to go back.
I previewed the menu before I headed to Pilsen Yards, and I was ready to order as soon as I was seated. I started with It's Like a Paloma and Coliflor (Cauliflower). The cocktail was well crafted, and I could have shared the order of Coliflor. If you like spicy foods, you will enjoy this dish. I also tried, Something With Vodka. The server was professional and provided service with a smile throughout our entire stay. The open-air concept of Pilsen Yards is for anyone who is still hesitant about dining indoors. There is also a large patio if you prefer to dine outdoors. I enjoyed the vibe and hung out for two hours. I will return to experience the Alderman.
Stopped at the Pilsen Yards tonight because my cousins girlfriend’s aunt was DJING here tonight. We ordered Burger, Fries, and Tacos and friends ordered Beer as well. They also have a $15 Shot Special at the bar. Good Food and Great Vibes. Customer Service was phenomenal. Definitely recommend Pilsen Yards for a chill night with friends & family to all!
Excellent Dining & Drinks! Loved the atmosphere & such a cool vibe to go out with friends or on a date. Went here with my husband & I loved the vegan posole! Had a couple drinks and they were refreshing & delicious. 10/10 Recommend! Will be back soon!
The food, the atmosphere, the vibe & the service were all on point! We sat in the open patio & it was awesome. There was a live DJ playing inside so it was kind of loud in there but it was perfect outside. We got the beef nachos, shrimp ceviche, tacos (shrimp, fish & pork) & burger w fries to share. I loved the nachos, fish taco & fries the most! My mule cocktail was very good. The tres leches was a bit dry. Ashley our server was excellent & took great care of us. This is a great spot for a get together with friends or a date night. Big fan of this place & will be back.
I’m new to Pilsen and wanted to explore the area. My friend and I had a great time! We ordered the flautas and fire roasted shistos as an appetizer and definitely recommend! I tried the Paloma and the sangria. As an entree I ordered the Barbacoa tacos and my friend ordered the chicken enchiladas. There was also live music! They have a dj on the weekends. We sat in the heated patio which was wonderful since we wanted a more intimate setting . Our server was very polite and helpful. Unfortunately I don’t remember his name. Definitely will come back !
I always have a great time at Pilsen Yards. The staff is very friendly and attentive, and food and drinks are always delicious. I always sit at the bar and get excellent service from Rico and Charlie. Thank you guys for making my visit even better! :)
Pilsen Yards’ ambiance and service are top notch. Steak and other food items always presented very nicely. Very original takes on something as simple as chips and salsa, to the Cajeta crepes. Small focused menu let’s you be confident in your choices. Brunch does not disappoint (see steak and eggs, it’s just as delicious as it looks I promise).
Pilsen Yards was a great spot for food, drinks, and vibes! The atmosphere was great and we really enjoyed ourselves. Happy hour had some nice deals and our waiter was also awesome. We really enjoyed our experience here!
The Pina colada ceviche was super good. Make sure to try it with the banana chips that they offer. The guacamole here has really good flavor. Also the crunchy chips with the mole sauce is out of this world. So please try this place and leave a review!
Fun place. Eclectic crowd. High energy. Second time I have been here and the food is excellent. Sometimes hard to get served at the bar.
Stopped in on a whim and was embraced by Charlie the bartender of the night. Great attitude!! Ordered the Chips Salsa, Guacamole, Beef Barbacoa Tacos and Chicken Flautas and was pleasantly surprised by the great food quality and flavor!! A must try in the area!!
Look no further for your next night out with friends! Amazing food, music, service and the restaurant is gorgeous! The staff is STELLAR!! You can tell they’re made it a point to bring on a quality team. From our host and gorgeous and attentive server, Amanda. She only enhanced our time at Pilsen Yards and definitely a reason to come back!
Always a fantastic experience at Pilsen Yards! I absolutely love this place. From the moment you walk in, the team seems genuinely happy you’re there. The vibe is energetic, creative, and warm—such a great atmosphere. The food is authentic Mexican and truly delicious. We had the cochinita pibil, the carrots al pastor (such a great riff on a classic!), and the cauliflower—everything was flavorful, beautifully prepared, and surprisingly filling. The cocktail menu is excellent, and if you’ve saved even a little room, the dessert options are absolutely worth it. We had the goat milk caramel crêpes and will be sure to try the tres leches cake next time.
Where to start...well, the people. Kindest, friendliet, most attentive crew. Outstanding service. As I watched the employees around the dining room, everyone was upbeat, happy, and genuinely pleased to take care of the guests. DJ spinning amazing beats, incredible ambiance, speakeasy this place is a vibe. Now, the food. We had a little bit of everything and it was all amazing. Drinks- tops. Guac- unexpected kick, loved it. Salsa- full of flavor. Tacos- thoughtful and delicious. Tamales- sinful. Dessert- incredible. The entire meal 10/10. What an awesome experience. Will be back!
Was there on a Friday night. The atmosphere was popping. Packed with people, all having a great time. The bartender made a fabulous margarita for my date and I had a hazy IPA. One of the managers grabbed my and my date to show us the speakeasy, very cool. I had tacos and my date had shrimp seviche. Food was dynamite. I noticed many large parties which was cool. The owner -GM John himself made the rounds and introduced himself to us and had a conversation. I used to own a restaurant and understand fully the hard work and people skills required to have a successful place like this. I will be back for sure.
Love bringing new people here, those who have been and sometimes just going solo to sit at the bar. The food is always amazing, especially the braised beef nachos, and the service is consistently excellent. Jeremy, the manager, has fantastic energy and is the best! I’ve always felt welcome and safe and really enjoy supporting local that has a good vibe and good people.
Pilsen Yards is one of our favorite places in Pilsen. Hospitality is top-notch, from the owners, The Abu-Taleb brothers, hosts and to the bartenders, especially Russell (Cesar). Amazing people and inviting atmosphere. Cocktails and food are on point. The queso fundido with shrimp and chorizo, served with handmade tortillas, is a standout. Smoky salsa and chips are addicting, pair perfectly with very refreshing Paloma and Pisco punch. Weekly specials and happy hour deals are a bonus. Don't miss the speakeasy bar 'The Alderman' for elevated, handcrafted cocktails 😊.
Jeremy, the host, did an outstanding job accommodating us from the moment we arrived. Even though there was a wait, he got us seated very quickly and was incredibly warm, kind, and attentive. He truly went out of his way to place us at the best possible table based on our needs, which made a big difference in our experience. Huge shoutout as well to Roger and Cesar—exceptional industry professionals who clearly bring years of experience, care, and work ethic to everything they do. I’ve seen them at multiple establishments over the years, and having them at Pilsen Yards is a real asset to the team. They were both extremely helpful, welcoming, and accommodating, and their presence alone elevates the space. The food is always excellent, the vibes are consistently great, and the service is a major reason my friend (a regular) and I will continue coming back. Pilsen Yards continues to deliver on all fronts.
I tried it for the first time recently Food: I had the nachos which were cool. I shared them so if I go again I will get them without beans. I had the shrimp ceviche and there was something in it like nuts or something I can’t remember but if I go again I will omit them but the shrimp was good. Drinks: I tried a Paloma during Happy Hour and that wasn’t it for me at all. I disliked it. However, Oscar Valentin (not during HH) was IT!! I definitely recommend that! Service: The servers were very nice, professional and pleasant! Atmosphere: It was good. It started to get full (at least on the patio area) as the hours went by.
I hope y'all read these comments & don't just look at the stars bc tbh they probably deserve 5 stars. I did only give 4 bc of service but that was mostly due to our server being swamped by other tables/parties. There was a drink forgotten and our actual waiter had never taken any of our orders (it was the manager that had stepped in to ensure we had a good experience, so we see you Dude!). We weren't super hungry so me and my partner ordered 3 apps to share (bc they all looked so yum). sooooo let's just say, we had leftovers that still tasted amazing the next day!!
It was our first time visiting here thanks to our friends for the invite. It’s a lot bigger on the inside than you would imagine if you were just looking from the street. The atmosphere was great, especially for their outdoor seating area. Service was good. The food was good. Definitely recommend their nachos. Their drinks could use some better mixing — their recipes seem a little off. However, we would likely visit here again if we were invited to.
Very yummy appetizer-try the queso! Tacos are really tasty! The highlight is if you can get a reservation to the alderman inner bar. The drinks are incredible in this 10 seat, velvet seated, reservations only bar. Unusual cocktails that are brilliant! We had one that spruce was lit on fire! They have valet and it is an easy place to get to. Overall- cool- relaxed-vibe. Have a very nice main bar that looked fun as well. We sat outside for dinner with adjustable heat lamps- we even turned off - nice that this is possible. Service was good.
Good food, drinks and love the patio, staff was attentive and friendly, we look forward to visiting again
Super tasty food. Service was very nice and helpful. The atmosphere was a 3 because the music was very loud but the side room was very nice. Would definitely recommend.
First time here and we loved it! The host ( a young woman) was incredibly friendly and great. The food was amazing and everything came out on time. Our server was a bit odd and he didn’t acknowledge us during our stay or as we were leaving…
Three weeks ago I visited for the second time with friends. My cocktail of choice was the “Party Donkey” it was good. My Caesar Salad was ok. I went with the “Taco Arabe” they were decent, but the tacos I had my last visit was much better. The shells were like a waffle cone, and the seasoning was on point. Was referred to this place by a coworker and wanted to visit before the Summer ends. So I visited last Sunday. This place delivered big time. My tacos were good (1 fish, 3 chicken). The churros were 🔥🔥🔥🔥, was surprised by the chocolate filling. My friend ordered Enchiladas for the first time and she liked them. She was really impressed by the hummus too. We sat out on the patio it was really loud like a concert. So if you want more peace I suggest you dine inside.
Our party of four got there at 7 on a Friday evening and waited 15 minutes for a table. We sat on the patio which was covered with good fans to circulate the air on hot summer days. We could hardly hear across the small table because the acoustics are not great. The food was mediocre. Tacos were tiny. My son and I each got Chicken enchiladas and it has an extremely dry rub on it and dark brown mole. Seemed like a Tex Mex flavor. Husband had three small tacos, daughter had a caesar salad which was good. We shared the Nachos. The Nachos we would return for because they were tasty. The boys drank three beers total and us girls just drank water. Our total bill was $172 with tip. Not impressed for the price.
The staff members are warm and attentive. The ambiance is thoughtfully decorated, chic, relaxing, & inviting. The food... I'll give you the plus side first. The corn tamales are absolutely delicious! The mango marinated beef on the nachos was flavored perfectly. Both are a must order! Then there were the entrees... (insert sigh). Everything was plated beautifully. Thought was put into the selecting of which dish to use for each entree type. But, all of it lacked flavor. All of the tacos tasted the same (5 types). The Heirloom Carrots Al Pastor was recommended by our server for their flavorful preparation. They simply tasted like air. We (party of 5) all agreed that whatever the carrots were tossed in looked beautiful, yet had no taste. The sauce for the enchilada meals was loose/ runny. We asked for whatever sauce that could be provided to "doctor the meal up". It was a real let down. Oddly enough, my group left with full bellies yet, craving something/ anything with more seasoning in order to be fulfilled.
The fish tacos were cold and bland. The portions felt really small for the price they were asking. They charged a 3% surcharge, which we weren't aware of. The guy who was cleaning the table didn't ask and just grabbed plates without asking. We only sat for an hour, but it felt like we were being pushed out. People sitting next to us were sitting for longer. I won't recommend this place to other people.
Service was great, everyone was lovely. We had a great time chatting with our server. Review is 2 stars for the WORST Al Pastor tacos we’ve ever had. They were floppy slices of pork (looked like a thick slice of bacon or pork belly) with unmarinated raw chopped pineapple. No taste, terrible texture. 3 of us each ordered one with our meal, and none of us ate them. They were hilariously weird tacos, and definitely not recognizable as al pastor. Listen - I know we’re a group of white people, but we are life-long Chicagoans so we know those al pastor tacos are literally a crime and insult to authentic Mexican food. Especially in Pilsen. I wish I took a picture!
Would not recommend. We were served by an older, taller man with gray hairs. He was nice and attentive at first, but halfway through started to pressure us to leave. He asked us about to go boxes while we were still eating. Then he brings the check without asking if we were done, and we still wanted to order more drinks. He brought the drinks back and slammed them against the table in front of us. After this he stopped checking in on our table, and ended up bringing the check and shoving it at us without saying a word. Not only this, but we came for brunch on a Sunday. The amount of white people giving us weird looks and staring us down was INSANE. Incredibly uncomfortable atmosphere. Never coming here again! And the food is mediocre at best. Concha toast was good, and the shrimp taco was pretty big. We also ordered the chilaquiles and the plate was small. Not to mention the $12 extra they charge for the smallest piece of steak. Save your money and go somewhere else!
