S.K.Y. exceeded my expectations! We had a wonderful Valentine’s Day dinner a few nights ago. Every dish was beautifully plated, creative, and delicious. We started with the tuna tartare lumpia, sisig, and lobster dumplings. Out of the three, the lobster dumplings were my favorite, but the lumpia and sisig were delicious as well. My boyfriend called the lumpia a “savory cannoli” and I think that’s a pretty accurate description. For mains, we had the fried chicken and the french onion short rib. The fried chicken was the star of the night - the skin was incredibly crispy and whatever they seasoned it with was just impeccable. The short rib was great as well, and the spinach with a crispy gruyere top that came with it was so so good. For dessert, we had the bread pudding for which the caramel sauce was very bourbon-y but it was great. Although a little slow (understandably - it was Valentine’s Day), the service was warm and welcoming. The singular thing, and very very minor thing, that I have to complain about is that my boyfriend’s main dish came out a few minutes before mine, so he had to wait for me to eat. Again, I give them some lenience because Valentine’s Day. Besides that, everything was perfect!!!

We enjoyed a birthday celebration at S.K.Y. 2.0. The room is lovely and vibing. The menu is heavily Asian influences. Which, I mean, bibimbap is bibimbap to some degree. This was very good but I can’t say it was go out of the way for it good. The other dishes were fine. Good wine list. Attentive service. People having fun and enjoying the room. We hadn’t been here since L2O in 2008 so happy to have another connection.

Had the best Valentine’s brunch at the new Lincoln Park location last weekend. We were happy to see that the lobster dumplings and corn madelines were still on the menu in all their glory. New spot felt decadent and still cozy — great music, lots of seating that doesn’t feel cramped, and a dreamy ambience. Everything we ordered hit. Great flavors, great pacing, no chaos (which honestly deserves its own award on Valentine’s weekend). Big shoutout to Camillo for taking such good care of us. Super chill, super attentive, and just genuinely kind. He made the whole experience feel smooth and fun without ever being over the top. 10/10. We’ll be back.

I’m convinced S.K.Y. could hand me a menu written in Wingdings and whatever I randomly pointed to would still taste great. But let’s skip the suspense: the Hamachi Sashimi is the star, the headliner, the reason to book a reservation. Order one if you’re polite, two if you’re sensible, and three or four if you’re honest with yourself. It was the best thing we ate all week and could easily be its own tasting menu. The Warm Mushroom Salad followed the Hamachi, which was unfortunate—for the salad. Tough act to follow, though still perfectly fine if you enjoy being reminded of your earlier, better choices. Maine Lobster Dumplings: generous portion, legitimately delicious. Slow Roasted Prime Rib: also generous, tender, and cooked exactly the way you hope but rarely get. Spice Roasted Cauliflower: if you insist on vegetables, these at least reward your virtue. Desserts are not optional. The Banana Budino is the second-best thing on the menu and fully aware of it. The Carrot Cake is excellent—so good it practically files a complaint if you skip it. In short: go for the Hamachi, stay for everything else, leave wondering how soon you can justify your next visit.

A stylish & intimate spot for stunning Asian fusion dishes. Lots of memorable bites from our visit - the warm mushroom salad was deeply umami, the Mapo Ricotta with pancake was a standout, and the lamb meatballs were full of flavor. The lobster dumplings were refreshing though a bit light on lobster, and the sisig leaned rich and repetitive. The short rib was wonderfully tender, though we realized too late that the recommended 4-5 dishes was more food than we needed. Service was attentive (sometimes a bit too frequently) and the added 5% employee benefit charge was a slight downside, though the birthday note they included was a thoughtful touch. Overall, very good food with minor service and spacing drawbacks.

Sometimes, a meal at a restaurant delivers hits after hits, and you can’t help but be impressed that the standard and quality is so high. This is one of those places. We ordered the hamachi sashimi, lobster dumplings, endive salad, duck confit, brussels sprouts, and prime rib, and carrot cake. Every single dish (save for the brussel sprouts) had us sitting back satisfied after clearing our plates. I especially loved the lobster dumplings, which were packed flavor and luxuriously rich, but not in an overwhelming/heavy way at all. A second favorite was the duck confit which was garnished with green apple slices and puree which balanced perfectly with the duck leg that was falling off the bone, melt-in the-mouth tender. Now about the brussels sprouts. They were meant to be crying tiger brussels sprouts and I’m pretty sure they forgot to add the sauce since I know the flavor profile of the original Thai dish, but they had essentially no salt or flavor other than being fried and topped with fried alliums. It was a shame since everything else was amazing, and I could have said something, but it was one of the last dishes (a side dish) served with our prime rib. I was already so full and happy with the meal that I let it go. I’m sure it is delicious with the sauce, judging by everything else. Service was attentive and communicative. The space is very loud though if the restaurant is busy, so be prepared to lean close the table and speak loudly to your table mates and server. I’m already looking for another night to come back here!

Great experience from front to back. Dishes were beautifully presented and wonderfully well balanced. Hamachi, was beautifully presented and was even more delicious. Lobster dumpling were packed with lobster meat! Pork chop au poivre was immaculate. Short rib was tender and delicious. The Brussels sprouts were amongst the best I've bad and with the crispy shallots were actually Funyun-esque. Dessert was sublime. Banana budino was a delicious mix of textures and salty and sweet. The Cobbler was delicious as well and seasonally fitting. Service and attention to detail were on point. Fantastic service and knowledge from all the staff. In particular our server, Camilo, and his assistant Chloe were a joy. Friendly, genuine and knowledgeable. Atmosphere and place were very enjoyable as well. Refined without being pretentious. I will absolutely return. I think Michelin stars have lost a bit of their luster, but this place meets or exceeds the quality I have received at other restaurants with one or more stars. Top. Notch.

I’ve been to a lot of places in Chicago and all over the world, but this place is a gem. Fantastic wine, service, and most importantly the food, my god. We had four dishes - the lobster dumplings, mushroom salad, fried chicken, and short rib, and the strawberry champagne dessert. All were divine, but the lobster dumplings may have been the best dish I have ever had. We will be coming back, over and over again. I’m so glad that we live pretty close to this place!!

I've always been a fan of this restaurant, but their new location has truly taken things to the next level. The new space is absolutely stunning, spacious, stylish, and thoughtfully designed, creating the perfect atmosphere for a memorable dining experience. The food, as always, was phenomenal. Every dish we tried was bursting with flavor, beautifully plated, and served at just the right temperature. The presentation was immaculate, almost too pretty to eat (but we did, and it was amazing!). The new, expanded menu is a fantastic upgrade. It offers a wider range of options without sacrificing quality or creativity. Each item we tried was outstanding, and now I'm already looking forward to my next visit just to explore more of what they have to offer. To top it all off, the service was impeccable, warm, attentive, and professional from start to finish. It's clear that the staff takes pride in both the food and the experience they deliver. Highly recommend making a reservation and seeing the new space for yourself. Can't wait to come back!

We enjoyed an extraordinary dinner at S.K.Y last night. Every dish was delicious and perfectly executed. Service was stellar. The. creativity of the menu and bold flavors make for an exhilarating experience.

Second time here, first time in the new location. The sisig is the only thing I was not so happy about- why there’s egg in it?? Other than this one dish, everything else was pretty perfect, just like how I remembered it. I love the lobster dumplings and the fried chicken with corn. Duck leg was better last time. Dessert was unique and heavenly! I love love love it! Service not as great - 1. they forgot or pack a side of vinegar for me even I asked for it. 2. We made reso but they put us right next to the kitchen and the silverware station while there were plenty of seats… In general, food is great, dessert is a must-have. Services have space to improve.

Excellent experience, outstanding food and impeccable service. We went for a newly wed night (6 of us) and had an amazing treat and an unforgettable night. The chef is very talented making super tasty plates with a twist in each making you crave for more. The service is simply out of this world with the whole team smiling, accommodating and giving you a feeling of being at home. The restaurant manager went out of her way to help us with a surprise flower bouquet we ordered for the newly wed and wrote a greeting card so when they came in it was already waiting for them on the dining table. Highly, highly recommended. We are sure to be back.

I dined at S.K.Y last night. Service was absolutely perfect! Hot food was served hot. And I love Chef Stephen Gillanders’ cooking, especially his use of Asian ingredients and the acid balance in his sauces. We had: Crab and Shrimp Summer Roll Lobster Dumplings Warm Mushroom Salad Rohan Duck Confit Cucumber Salad Fried Chicken Prime Rib with Anchovy-Maderia Butter, Garlic Frites If you missed the news, S.K.Y was previously located in Pilsen, but it just opened in Lincoln Park at 2300 N Lincoln Park W, in the Belden-Stratford building, which is the same building that houses Mon Ami Gabi.

As a longtime regular of the original S.K.Y., I was beyond excited to check out the brand new S.K.Y. 2.0 in the Belden-Stratford, and it absolutely delivered. Walking in, it instantly felt familiar. Same great playlist, same warm energy, just in a stunning new space with that fresh “new restaurant” scent still lingering in the air. The menu has all the beloved classics I’ve missed, plus a few new seasonal dishes that blew me away. The flavors were spot on. If anything, they’ve somehow leveled up. You can tell the team is totally in tune. Lauren, our server, was an absolute star. She actually worked at the original location too, which made the whole experience feel like a joyful homecoming. Also the seasonal daiquiri was hands down one of the best daiquiris I’ve ever had. If you go (and you should), do not skip the banana budino for dessert. It’s my all-time favorite dessert in the city of Chicago and still as perfect as ever. Welcome back, S.K.Y. You’ve outdone yourselves!

My partner and I had to think hard to try to remember all the great meals of our lives. We agreed that our dinner here at SKY was definitely the best. I don’t say that lightly. Every single dish was mind blowing. They play with flavors and textures in a way I’ve never known possible. Ingredients that were odd when you read them on the menu were made to work so perfectly. After the first 1-2 dishes, you trust them blindly. We left really mind blown. Who knew cornbread could be so good? And the warm mushroom salad was one of the best dishes I have ever had. The service was impeccable and our server knew everything about everything, and made some fantastic suggestions. You can sit on the kitchen counter where you can see the chef and his team working away systematically. The chef is surely destined for culinary fame, he deserves it. The price for this experience made me feel like I was ripping them off. I absolutely intend to come back and try a whole different set of dishes and I’m sure I will not be disappointed. Thank you for this wonderful experience.

Moving to a new location soon! Highly recommend dining here.... The initials S.K.Y. belong to Chef Gillanders' wife, Seon Kyung Yuk, after whom the restaurant is named. Gillanders had always envisioned opening his first restaurant in his hometown of Los Angeles, CA. But during Gillanders' tenure at Intro in Chicago, which served as the testing ground for his own restaurant concept, the couple discovered their affinity for Chicago and decided it was home-- and the future home of S.K.Y. Everything was delicious, Octopus dish, and Lobster dumplings are a must. And Fried Chicken like you've never had before. Decent wine list, nice and cozy Pilsen spot for date nights.

Absolutely stellar second coming of our Pilsen favorite. Menu is still fantastic. Camilo, our server, was charismatic and so helpful. Vibe is a little more formal than the old space, but fits the neighborhood. Can’t recommend the sisig, lumpia, and cruller enough!

Amazing place for food adventure and exceptional service. Cocktails are amazing(try the 'trust your bartender' cocktail and let them make you a concoction of their choice)! The kitchen was very well run, always had food plated beautifully and coursed on time! Ate for about 2 hours and loved it. Highly recommend S.K.Y. for an evening of pampered service and delectable dining! Come open one in Austin/Georgetown, TEXAS! 🤘🤙

I did not know what to expect of S.K.Y, but I am absolutely blown away by our dinner here this evening. Even when we walked in to get seated we were greeted by such a kind host. Our waitress Angelica was incredibly friendly and very knowledgeable, answering every question we had remarkably well. I decided to get the Tasting Menu and my family ordered a la carte, and this was the best decision we made. This food was hands down some of the best we’ve ever had. From the small plates to dessert, we were in a food haven. The bone marrow was full of flavor, the croquettes were warm and oozing cheese, and the octopus that came with the tasting menu, as well as the fried chicken (which was sooooo tender) were AMAZING! And the banana budino too… wow. The atmosphere was perfect for a nice evening out. The lighting wasn’t too harsh, and the music volume was just right. We will definitely be recommending everyone we know to come here!

S.K.Y. has an incredibly cool and exciting dining experience. The ambiance is industrial and intimate and set apart by the open kitchen where you get to witness the cohesiveness of your meal being cooked. With unexpected and delectable flavors, the meals we felt incredibly luxurious. The cornbread Madeline’s are absolutely mouthwatering and I could do with several plates of them. We had the Short Rib and Crispy Salmon and both were phenomenal. We were especially partial to the marinated cucumbers. At brunch, the garlic noodles were such an awesome addition to brunch that I never knew I was missing until now. The service is so wonderful as well as everyone is knowledgeable and exceptionally friendly. Highly highly recommend.

Came here for our anniversary and the staff were so lovely, such a perfect place to celebrate our special day! The food here was absolutely delicious and very fairly priced! Every dish was great. We tried the tasting menu. Tasting menus can really be a hit or miss for me, but all of the dishes on their tasting menu were great. Their cocktails were also really good! The food came at a great pace and we weren’t rushed or anything at all. Would highly recommend this place and will be coming back!

Wow! Best brunch we’ve had in a long time. The flavor profiles of each course were superb! Their brunch tasting menu is stellar, and the lobster dumplings are a MUST. Service was on point, and the food was fresh and flavorful..What a gem to find in Chicago. They also take reservations right here on google maps, so that was a huge +. Can’t wait to come again and try EVERYTHING ELSE ON THEIR MENU. Really, can’t say enough good things. A+++

Every dish was fantastic. We were given a complimentary avocado bite to start, the lobster dumplings and black truffle croquettes were delicious and went well together. The fried chicken, which they are known for per the waiter, was indeed worthy of being known for… fantastic. The triple cooked beef short rib was also excellent, and the carrot cake was a fun finish with a sour cream ice cream. Would definitely return.

SKY – Lincoln Park Moving to Lincoln Park was a brilliant move for SKY—what a vibe! Great food, great drinks, and outstanding hospitality from start to finish. Every detail feels thoughtful and elevated, yet the atmosphere stays warm and welcoming. Bravo to the team. Can’t wait to come back.

S.K.Y. offers an elegant industrial-style setting, making our 10 am brunch a visually pleasing experience. Despite a minor delay in food service, the Black truffle croquettes and Maine lobster dumplings were a tasty delight. The new addition of spicy Beef noodles impressed, and the brunch pastry tier, with a pleasant setting, provided a satisfying variety. A memorable culinary adventure despite the initial cleanup at the first table.

Fantastic new addition to the Pilsen neighborhood. I was in desperate need to experience good food when I got invited to this place. Surprised but the size of the restaurant, but yet the atmosphere is still so intimate. Good cocktail list, inventive menu selections. Absolutely everything we tried was delicious. My favorite thing was something NOT on the menu, and that was the edamame Hors d'oeuvres. It left me wanting more, not to mention was just a preview of what was to come next. We tired the Cornbread Madeleines, the Lobster Potstickers, Hamachi Sashimi, Mushroom Salad. Whew. Not to worry, we mustered up the strength to indulge in our entrees! For our mains, we ordered the Salmon, Short-Rib, Seabass, and last, but certainly NOT least, the Charred Broccoli. All of which I would recommend to anyone. Sit back and enjoy the entire experience, you'll be glad yu did!

The best meal of my life so far. I took my fiancée here to celebrate our engagement and I could not have been happier with everything in this restaurant. The place is unique, but far from pretentious. It has a relaxed but lively atmosphere. I never felt bogged down in pomp and circumstance like so many other fine dining restaurants. The wait staff are incredibly friendly and knowledgeable. The food is absolutely incredible. All of it came out at the perfect temperature with real attention to detail. It’s not trying too hard to be elevated, but is still super unique and delicious. Everything was just honest, really well thought out food pairings that tasted great. Also, prices are fantastic. I would have paid 50% more for the meal and still been very happy. Can’t speak highly enough of this place; if you’re thinking about going, you should.

S.K.Y. was such a memorable and enjoyable dining experience! We relaxed in the laid back atmosphere accompanied by top notch flavor, artistic and pleasantly surprising presentation, and friendly service. Every dish was a bullseye from the deliciously salty and crunchy nori crackling with edamame purée, to the hamachi sashimi, warm mushroom salad, buttery Maine lobster dumplings, crispy sea bass, and the spectacular Lavender Cruller for an astounding, “lick the plate” dessert (🔥🔥🔥). S.K.Y. is the absolute truth - 10/10 recommend!

Enjoyable dining experience. Wish we lived closer so we could try the rest of the menu. Party of two- one got Chef Tasting and the other ordered of main menu. Every dish was great. Our server David was attentive and knew the menu and drink pairings well. We sat at Chefs Counter and enjoyed watching and listening to the kitchen 'dance'. We would recommend everything we ordered. Didn't have enough room for dessert, but they looked wonderful going out. We stayed in downtown and it was just a$15 Uber ride to and from- it's worth the ride.

So this place was phenominal. Top tier service from all the waitstaff (they all work together to bring you the best service possible) I got my wife the chef's tasting menu, and it did not disappoint. Very unique dishes on the full spectrum of your taste buds keeping you on the edge of your seat. I am plain jane, so i got the chicken with creamed corn, which was nicely cooked and had good seasoning. Pictures will show what each course was and my awesome chicken. Also, their cocktails are pretty good as well. 13/10 would recommend.

We came here for brunch and loved it! The server was very friendly and did a great job with his recommendations. We were given some complementary donuts and cornbread to start and thought they were amazing. Everything was so flavorful and presented like a work of art. I highly recommend the fried chicken, the dry rub they used was made it taste so savory with a little kick to it. The ambiance was great, you felt like you were dining at a friend's loft apartment.

This review is way overdue - I came here back in September for a birthday dinner with a friend and we were both blown away by the ambiance, hospitality, and food! We had a number of dishes like the tuna tartare lumpia, Sichuan ricotta, roasted Scottish salmon, SKY chicken, as well as the crumb cake cobbler and banana budino. The SKY fried chicken in particular was spectacular (I’ve never had chicken like that before!) and I greatly enjoyed my time at the restaurant. Shoutout to Sid in particular, for his friendly, patient, and attentive service! I highly recommended coming here for a special occasion - my friend and I were blown away by our experience and I definitely hope to be back again!

Solid dining experience. Everything was good. We did dumplings, lumpia, hamachi, sisig, brussel sprouts, seabass, and bread pudding. Favorites were the hamachi and sisig but could eat everything 10 times over. Everything was so very good. Birthday ice cream was a banana ice cream that was mind blowing...it wasn't banana flavored ice cream but rather a banana that was made into an ice cream. It was unreal. Every spoonful was like biting into a ripe banana.

My favorite meal in Chicago in at least the last 5 years. Unbelievable creative dishes without being over the top. We ate almost the entire small plate menu and finished with the fried chicken- I want to order everything again. If I had to pick two standouts it would be the SKY sizzling sisij (basically an Asian version of an Italian beef with their homemade giardinara tasting vinegar) truly incredible and their lobster dumplings. Service was exceptional, everything was coursed out perfectly and the table was always immaculate. A must try. Can’t wait to come back.

What a fantastic evening! We brought a large group to S.K.Y. and everything—from start to finish—was outstanding. The service was genuinely warm and attentive, making our whole party feel well-looked after without any rush. The appetizers struck a perfect balance between comfort food and elevated American style—refreshing yet familiar, with enough flair to keep everyone excited. The wine list is a strong highlight: very approachable, thoughtfully selected, and excellent value for what you get. Dessert was the standout moment—especially the apple cobbler, which was beautifully executed, warm and comforting but with a refined touch. A true five-star experience and one we’ll be talking about until our next visit!

We had a lovely dinner to celebrate our niece who just passed the bar. Food and service were great. Lobster dumplings were our favorite menu item, but everything was delicious. We also ate the warm mushroom salad, fried chicken, Mediterranean seabags, Grilled Heritage Pork Chop, French Onion Short Rib, and Crying Tiger brussel sprouts. They asked about food allergies and what can be done to accommodate them. They also gave our niece a sweet card--it made her feel very special. I love the space with the giant windows. We look forward to coming again.

The atmosphere was perfect for Valentine's Day or a romantic date night, service was good but staff seemed to be a little overwhelmed with the number of people, as such they were less attentive but great when they were there. The food was very good, though for what you get it felt overpriced. I've been to plenty of high end restaurants and while value is not the primary goal, it's still important. The lobster pot stickers were incredible, though a little heavy with the mint. The brussel sprouts were also great though they could stand to have less fried onions. The fish dishes were also good but they were under seasoned and let the sauces that accompanied them do the heavy lifting. The sauce was good but I wish those flavors were embedded in the dish further. All that said, this was a great experience that could use a few tweaks to reach perfection.

S.K.Y used to be the restaurant to go to in Pilsen back before their move to a luxurious apartment complex in Lincoln Park. I’d meant to visit before the relocation but never got around to it so I waited (somewhat impatiently) for the reopening. The menu is very inventive and full of flavors from all over Asia, Europe, and the Mediterranean. Four small plates and two sides for two people proven to be more than enough. - THE Sichuan Ricotta: capitalized "THE" was completely necessary. An excellent place to start. The Sichuan ragu had a very welcomed surprising kick but the incredibly silky ricotta balanced it out nicely. The griddle bread was fantastic: beautifully toasted, soft, chewy, and flavorful. - Maine Lobster Dumplings: the dish everyone talked about. The wrappers were cooked perfectly and boasted a great texture. Each dumpling was stuffed with lobster. They were quite tasty: slightly sweet and meaty from the lobster with a refreshing tang. The mint and herbs on top added a nice burst of freshness. - Singaporean Chili Crab Cake: crisp, golden crust giving way to a tender, flaky interior. It sat in a tasty sweet-spicy chili sauce. This dish is essentially Singaporean chili crab flavor without any of the labor of cracking shells. Indulgence without the inconvenience. - Thai Grilled Pork Belly Salad: crunchy shaved cabbage, cucumber, and tomatoes tossed in a punchy nam pla vinaigrette then covered with crispy shallots. On top sat four thick slices of juicy, tender grilled pork belly like crown jewels. The cabbage was a bit too bitter but the pork belly was great. - Crying Tiger Brussel Sprouts: golden and crisp on the outside, tender on the inside, and blanketed in a glorious amount of fried shallots. If I were trying to convert someone into liking brussels sprouts, this is the dish I’d use. - Crunchy Potato Tots: these golden cubes of shredded potato were enjoyable especially with the truffle aioli. Slightly greasy, but still satisfying. Chef Stephen Gillanders' creative prowess is very impressive: bold yet particularly intentional. Flavor-wise, all dishes were consistently strong with a few clear standouts. Maintaining that level of consistency while being this inventive is no small feat.

Came to SKY for my girlfriend’s birthday brunch and really enjoyed the experience. The highlight for me was the lobster dumplings—rich, flavorful, and perfectly balanced. We also liked the crispy chicken slider and the spicy baked eggs. Service was warm, and the team surprised my girlfriend with a birthday card, which made the visit feel extra thoughtful. Overall, a stylish spot with great dishes. Would happily come back.

Got the black truffle croquettes, lobster dumplings, duck confit, fried chicken, pork chops, brussel sprouts, and warm spiced cruller. The croquettes were delightful and very truffle-ly, I'm glad they only had 4 pieces because anything more would have been too much. My favorites were the lobster dumplings and brussel sprouts. The duck confit was dry and tough, the flavor was good but could have passed. Their entrees are very big - the fried chicken was cooked perfectly and still juicy. The pork chops were just ok. But the cruller was very soft on the inside, crunchy on the outside. Would highly recommend this place.

We’ve been to SKY twice and enjoyed the food and experience. The Belden-Stratford is a gorgeous venue and the large dining room makes for a comfortable place for conversation. I tried the mushroom salad and salmon. Both were excellent.

Open warehouse restaurant serving up a combination of seafoods and meats with a massive wine list. We came on a Friday night and the place was packed, we were served promptly and their old fashioned was good with a unique twist. They have a huge wine list so you'll be able to pair with any dish you order. We liked the lobster dumplings, (4/5) but the shitake mushrooms with goat cheese were unreal (5/5), and the French onion roast was amazing. We were too full for dessert. My only complaint is the place is insanely loud, they need some sound dampening as the space is essentially a giant open room but that shouldn't deter you from coming.

K
Krissy Bergmark

Loved the food here! It came out slow, though, and kind of weirdly timed, so the whole meal ended up taking three hours, which I did not love. Everything tasted amazing, tho, and the cheesecake brûlée was incredible. The lighting is harsh (track from above, from what I remember?), but luckily I went with my friend and not a date! They are moving locations, so hopefully they work on the lighting vibe at the next one, I think they can do better. Overall a really good experience!

I had a really nice time at S.K.Y! The ambience is sleek and elegant, the service was great, and I liked a lot of what we ordered. I had heard really good things about this place prior to coming in and was a bit disappointed by the food. The presentation of each dish was stunning but in terms of actual flavor, I felt that it fell short of other similarly-priced restaurants in the city. My favorite dish by far was the warm mushroom salad — I’m still thinking about it and how to make it at home! As for the other things we ordered: croquettes, burrata, cornbread Madeline’s, lobster dumplings, seabass, eggplant, and truffle potatoes, there was something left to be desired. I would still definitely recommend it if you’re in the area but for the price point I would have liked the flavors to stand out a bit more. Don’t skip: the warm mushroom salad, the matcha gin cocktail was yummy as well

The server G was fantastic. He was knowledgeable and personable. The food was good. We enjoyed everything. The kitchen staff did not communicate well so they were confused on who ordered which food. Overall it was a nice place for dates and celebrations.

Nice dining experience. The apps were wonderful! The rest of the food was well prepared and good. We were surprised that drinks were about 3/4 full and filled with too much ice. The dessert that we were looking forward to was going to take 20-30 minutes. Someone should have told us when we were served our dinner, but didn’t. When the alternate dessert came out, I was not at the table, but they served it anyway. S.K.Y. was a good experience, service was also good, but they still have some work to do.

I quite liked S.K.Y. I had a great experience. The other guests at my table were emphatic. And I will be back to try more of the menu—the small plates are especially all over the map, both literally in their inspiration and figuratively in flavor. But I was hoping to be able to say that I loved it, and I can't go that far. In my perspective, S.K.Y. offers a wide range of globally inspired tastes, refined with French technique in Chicago in a contemporary space one would not expect to find inside a historic Lincoln Park building. Which is to say, S.K.Y. poses a conundrum of sorts: a vibrant, yet not quite complementary, palette of wonderfully executed dishes with an impressive wine list, though lacking a certain je ne sais quoi, with extremely friendly, yet slightly inconsistent service and one of the louder dining environments in Chicago (even after they added sound paneling to the ceilings since opening earlier this year). One important highlight to note: they are VERY good with allergies, and they have a separate gluten free menu (though a lot of the most interesting dishes—lobster dumplings, fried chicken, tuna lumpia—are, by their very nature, very much gluten heavy dishes). Sizzling sissig was a hit, elevated by the seaweed wrap and the chili garlic vinegar. It's a big dish though—best with a group. Mushroom salad was very good, though not special, as other reviews might lead you to expect. Also tasted more cheese forward than mushroom. Cauliflower was okay—well cooked, but too salty, in a butter sauce that muddled the flavor. There were many other small plates I would want to try instead now: lobster dumplings, crab cakes, summer rolls, to name a few. For the mains, we had pork and salmon. Pork was done to soft and juicy perfection, with a coconut, soy, butter sauce and a tangy pickled squash side that combined for a bright twist on a classic. Salmon was also cooked exquisitely—skin removed—on a bed of super soft potatoes with a lovely lobster sauce. For dessert we had the crumb cake apple cobbler—big enough for a table of 3—which was tasty, almost like a thick pancake, but almost entirely cake with very little apple, and a side of apple ice cream with a touch of mint. Coffee was good. Wine was great—though they had run out of our first choice bottle by the time we ordered. Servers were extremely friendly and warm, though it felt like they were spread thin (perhaps due to the holidays). And this one is odd, especially for Chicago—they have a coat check, but they don't offer to take your coats when you arrive and everyone has coats draped over chairs or piled up in the booths. We only learned of the coat check option in passing after we had sat down. Overall, I would say S.K.Y. is quite good, though also quite expensive, with an interesting, sometimes exciting, range of dishes, and worth trying at least once.

The food at brunch was just okay. My chicken dish needed some additional seasoning for my taste. Definitely some salt. The blueberry muffin was very good. The truffle croquettes were good. It reminded me of hot cheez-its. It is a dinner spot for sure. Last time I was there for dinner, it was amazing.

Great place. Good bang for your buck, and good service. Mushroom salad and black truffle croquettes were great. Pork tenderloin was nice and tender. They do love their crisps. EDIT: Not as good as before. Very small portions.

While the food was yummy, we were feeling very rushed. After ordering, our appetizer came a few minutes later and our meal a few minutes after that. Our wine arrived after dinner. Talked to someone in the lobby that said their table was missing an entree and their sides came out very late. For a table of two for $350. We felt we could have gone to North Pond and had a much better experience.
