We went for lunch during Chicago Restaurant Week and was very impressed. The $30/person, 3-course lunch menu was extremely valuable. It has a great location in the Bucktown neighborhood of Chicago, and is situated in a unique white home. My favorite part was the interior and the open kitchen layout. The waitress was super pleasant as well, and provided wonderful answers to our questions about the cuisine origins and the restaurant. Overall, both of us had a great experience. We are hoping to come back another time to try more of the menu. Definitely recommend.

I grew up a block away in the heart of Bucktown and it was nostalgic that they captured the Bucktown of early 2000s through their ambiance and interior decor. Beautiful space. I celebrated a birthday dinner with a dear friend and opt in for the Resturant week menu. It was fresh, thoughtful, and unique. I love greek wine and was impressed with their extensive greek wine selection. Our waiter/host was so friendly and he did amazing pacing our course. I will be back!

Tama is a must visit in Chicago it's my go to spot for celebration or just a good meal. The dishes are complex innovative and fresh. The service is top notch and watching the chefs at work is fascinating. I cannot recommend Tama Highly enough. The Beef Orzo and Mushrooms are a must.

The oyster mushrooms was the clear favorite - miso paired with mushrooms was an umami flavor bomb. I also really enjoyed the empanadas, they were fresh and crisp. I didn’t think the mussels or orzo or potatoes were standout, which was unfortunate because the orzo was so talked about. I enjoyed the dishes nonetheless. I think I’d order the burger here if I were to come back.

The food here was absolutely amazing—every single dish exceeded our expectations. The bread and butter is an absolute must (one of the best bites of the night!). The scallops with corn mousse were packed with flavor and perfectly balanced. We also tried the truffle beef skewers and the oyster mushrooms—both so delicious and well-prepared. The short rib with risotto was rich, tender, and cooked to perfection. From start to finish, every plate was memorable. Highly recommend!

Perfect place to do a mid-week date night. Food was delicious and drink was AMAZING! The beef screwer is a little bit overrated but still good. We loved the carpaccio, tuna tartare, agnolotti, and short rib orzo.

Tama is really really good. Everything we had was basically perfect. The open kitchen and seeing the chef work was the best part. They are very talented and food was delivered fresh and hot. Will be back.

TAMA Chicago is the kind of place that makes you feel like you’ve stumbled upon a well-kept secret. Tucked away from the usual dining spots, it’s a true hidden gem that delivers an impressive culinary experience from start to finish. The execution of the food is where TAMA truly shines. The beef carpaccio was a standout — perfectly sliced, delicate, and balanced with just the right seasoning and garnishes to enhance the flavor without overpowering it. The mussels were equally memorable: fresh, plump, and served in a broth so rich and flavorful that you’ll want to soak up every last drop. Service was attentive without being intrusive, and the ambiance strikes a nice balance between modern and cozy. TAMA isn’t trying to chase trends — it’s confidently doing its own thing, and doing it incredibly well.

We dined on a busy Friday night bar side with quite the action packed chefs kitchen show. If you close your eyes it smells like a mom and pops on the side of a cliff in Greek city you have been to. If you listen you’ll hear a steady handed chef guide her team through a busy season with plate ups and grill etiquette and the occasional crack that a good chef is know for. Rula looked after us at the bar and was the epitome of a walking menu. I never search a menu as I want to eat what the crew that’s leading the heart of the house is ordering. Menus are great for visuals but the truth is in the plate. The mushrooms will forever remain in my head. Gentle. Packed with flavor of the earth and garlic- no over powered with herbs and nonsense. The sea bass butterflies and freshly grilled, deboned with a simple broccolini- and paired with a gorgeous Greek wine. This restaurant is a love language. So needless to say this is a gem, and if you are lucky enough to find it- you won’t regret the time spent. Imagine a quick Friday transporting yourself back to a fishing village somewhere along the Greek islands.

Came here on a Saturday night with the wife to try this restaurant out. Located between a roll of houses. We sat at the counter where we could see the food being prepared. Definitely a great experience that I would come here again. The meals are prepared fresh and brought to you hot. We started with the Mussels appetizer and it was delicious and a shareable dish. We also ordered the Empanadas and they were light and filling. The third appetizer that we ordered was the Patatas Bravas which were basically homemade thick fries. They had lots of flavors. Since I'm picky I ordered everything with the sauce on the side. I was still hungry and ordered the Braised Beef and Orzo. To top it off we also ordered the Cheesecake and Tiramisu. Everything was great and can't wait to go back and try other menu items.

I had an absolutely fantastic experience at Tama! From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was warm and inviting, with a perfect blend of modern elegance and cozy charm. The service was impeccable—our server was attentive, knowledgeable, and made excellent recommendations. Now, let’s talk about the food—WOW! Every dish was beautifully presented and bursting with flavor. We started with the goat cheese mushrooms, which was perfectly seasoned and a great way to kick off the meal. For the main course, I had the short rib orzo, and it was hands down one of the best I’ve ever had—cooked to perfection and packed with rich, delicious flavors. The cocktails were also top-notch, crafted with precision and creativity. And of course, we couldn’t leave without trying dessert—the cheesecake was the perfect sweet ending to an unforgettable meal. If you’re in Chicago and looking for an incredible dining experience, Tama is a must-visit. I can’t wait to come back!

Really enjoyed our dinner at Tama! This is 4.5 stars. We kicked off restaurant week with a fabulous meal and sat at the chef's counter. Food was very tasty and definitely left us for wanting more. Came with my husband and we tried the entire menu for Restaurant Week by sharing the plates. Standouts for us were the beef carpaccio, the sea bass with fregola and short rib with orzo. We also ordered the potatas bravas. Food was well seasoned, but some dishes were slightly more dressed (cabbage ceasar and cauliflower steak) for my liking. The basque cheesecake was surprisingly light and reminded me of creme brulee flavors. The executive chefs and staff were personable. Watching them work was a treat and you can tell they have each other's backs and constantly working to deliver. It was impressive to see the three chefs execute multiple dishes at a consistent and fine level. Really a beautiful night. The chefs and waitstaff were attentive without being intrusive and making sure we were enjoying everything.

A mouthwatering experience by a talented culinary team led by Chef Avgeria, complemented by a friendly skilful and knowledgeable service team! All of the dishes the we tried on lunch and dinner were amazing, and my highlights would be the Ramen, the Burger, the Fish Soup, and the Focaccia! The cauliflower, beef tartar and empanadas are as delicious too! Do not miss out on any daily specials if available and definitely save space for dessert! Loved it and would return in a heartbeat, and would highly recommend it!

Tama Chicago is a true gem, and Chef Algeria Stapaki’s culinary creations are nothing short of breathtaking. From the beautifully plated dishes to the bold, inspired flavors, every moment was a celebration of her talent and creativity. The short rib Orzo was an absolute highlight, showcasing her ability to combine fresh, local ingredients with an international flair that feels both refined and approachable. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, perfectly complementing the artistry of the menu. Chef Stapaki has crafted not just a meal but an experience that lingers well beyond the last bite. Tama Chicago is a must-visit for anyone seeking innovative and heartfelt cuisine. Looking forward to my next visit there. !

Everything about our experience here was great! The restaurant has a very cozy and intimate vibe, our waiter was friendly and knowledgeable on the menu items, and every dish we got was amazing. They have a smaller menu that rotates each season, good for sharing/family style dining!

My sister and I went here this past Sunday and it was absolutely amazing! The service, food/drink, atmosphere was superb! We sat at the “chef’s table”, so we were able to watch the staff prepare our food right it front of us, which was a very nice touch. We bonded with the chefs/staff that we found out were also Greek! If you are seeking for a Mediterranean restaurant with a twist of a couple other cultures, definitely try TAMA out! My sister and I will definitely be back! Honestly, 1000/10!

Amazing dinner here!! We sat at the counter and got great recommendations on what to order. We got the tuna tartare, horitataki, skewers and short rib orzo. We couldn't even pick a favorite everything was so well done. Just phenomenal. I also ordered the morning, noon and night and it might be my favorite cocktail in the city. The perfect sweet and salty cocktail with watermelon and feta. Just so unique and delicious!!

A Restaurant Week Experience at TAMA Chicago - 4/5 Stars The ambiance draws you in, but it's the stellar cocktails that steal the show at this trendy spot. While the food has its highs and lows, the overall experience leaves room for improvement. Cocktails (5/5) The standouts of the evening were the expertly crafted cocktails ($17 each). Both the Elvira Hancock and Two Smoking Barrels were masterfully balanced and complemented our meal perfectly. Worth a return visit for the bar program alone. Food (3/5) Our $45 Restaurant Week dinner menu started strong but gradually lost momentum. The starters showed promise: the roasted beetroot dish was a thoughtful composition of textures and flavors, featuring creamy goat cheese sauce, bright citrus elements, and crunchy hazelnuts. The grilled cabbage, while well-dressed with crispy chorizo, could have benefited from more time on the grill. The mid-courses were a study in contrasts. The beef carpaccio, paired with fragrant sourdough, was generally successful despite being slightly heavy-handed with the sea salt. However, the fried cauliflower steak disappointed with its mushy texture and lack of char. Main courses were notably undersized. The grilled seabass, while boasting perfectly crispy skin, was barely more than a bite. Its accompanying freegola lacked texture and conviction. The short rib offered promising flavors with an interesting citrus note, but was undermined by its companion orzo, which was regrettably overcooked. Desserts, while aesthetically pleasing, felt perfunctory. The tiramisu was gone in two bites, and their signature burnt basque cheesecake, while technically sound with its brûléed top, needed more depth of flavor to be truly memorable. Service (3/5) The efficiency of service (46 minutes from arrival to departure at 8:46 PM) crossed the line from prompt to rushed. Courses arrived before drinks, and the swift pacing made ordering a second round of cocktails feel awkward. While our server maintained polite professionalism, the rushed atmosphere detracted from what could have been a more relaxed dining experience. Value At $45 for Restaurant Week, the price point seems fair on paper, but the minimal portion sizes left us wanting more. A $60 menu with more substantial servings might have better showcased the kitchen's capabilities and provided a more satisfying experience. Final Thoughts While the cocktail program shines and some dishes show real potential, the overall experience feels like a work in progress. Worth visiting for drinks and appetizers, but temper your expectations for a full dining experience.

Value: 5/5 Chicago Restaurant Week $45 for 4 courses. Portions were perfectly sized; I left full. Food: 3/5 Might be what I ordered, everything was forgettable, even underwhelming, price aside. Cauliflower was VERY overcooked; I could easily make cauliflower mash with my fork. Cauliflower and beets lacked acid and more crunchy texture to offset the softness of the roasted veggies. Seabass fregola had a wonderful lemony brightness and equal fishy scent. Good sear, but dry. Forgivable because it was the size of a golf ball. For $45, still an amazing value. Cheesecake wasn't special, but the spiced apple (?) reduction on the side was a nice sour compliment. Service: 3.5/5 Hit and miss. The hostess and server thought I was a party of 2 when my reservation was for 1 person, asking if I was waiting for another guest and forgetting to remove the extra table setting. My server was very nice, personable, chatty, and attentive; they kept my glass filled throughout the dinner. Midway through my main, desert was brought out. My server promptly removed it since I was still eating my main course. Atmosphere: nice, intimate neighborhood gem. Not too fancy, good food in a relaxed atmosphere where you can chat with the chefs at bar seats in the open kitchen. Music is upbeat without being overly loud.

Food was delicious. Small shareable plates. The waitress was very well informed about the menu options. Provided great suggestions. As the plates were brought to our table, the waitress divided the portions amongst the 4. Large bar service. Service was on point. Very clean simple nice decor. Street parking.

Celebrated two birthdays and thoroughly enjoyed our dinner. Tapas style menu offerings Portions were not quite large to share between the three of us but we made it work. Only negative is the waiter forgot to put in our order for the Potatas Bravas which we were most excited about.

Portions are ridiculously small! Even ‘shareable’ plates. Three scallops to share? Yes, pretty delicious, especially sauces, but so so tiny. Ordered 4 dishes for three people to share, left hungry.

Came here for restaurant week lunch and had really high expectations based on other reviews. Everything was…fine. Nothing stood out in particular, maybe due to it being a set menu for restaurant week, but I did wish everything had a more intense flavor. the cabbage Cesar wasn’t anything memorable, the beet salad was better. The sea bass was such a small piece of fish it felt like you were mostly eating crispy skin with a little meat on the side. The basque cheesecake was not the best I’ve had but satisfying.

I went here for restaurant week with my wife because it had excellent reviews and the menu looked tasty. We were extremely disappointed. To start, we were told the standard menu would not be offered. No big deal, but this could have been labeled more clearly. We were sat right next to the door on a January night, so it was freezing every time someone came in or left. The food was bland and the portions were laughably tiny. My wife got the lentil salad which was literally just arugula, lentils, and small bits of feta. It was so unbelievably bland and underwhelming, we couldn’t help but laugh. I could have whipped up a better version within 5 minutes at home. The desserts were the worst part, it truly felt like they bought a store bought brownie and covered it with store bought ice cream. Just dry crumbles of nothingness. We left hungry, underwhelmed, and just a little sad about the state of dining. I would strongly not recommend.
