April '24 update. Still the best breakfast in Chico! Also make sure you ask for stickers! June '23 update. Such a great atmosphere here lately. Everyone there is just so happy and helpful. The cooks are doing a great job and sending out delicious hot food. So sad to hear they got broken into a few weeks back. Down to one ipad to check out so be patient when it's time to pay! Also the coffee is really REALLY amazing. They really care about the execution of brewing good coffee. Hardest working ladies on the Esplanade! Ste staff were busy but super helpful and cheery. Wonderful food, prepared with quality ingredients. Great for families too. The strawberry French Toast was the bomb diggity.

This is a great spot for breakfast and lunch. It was busy when we first got there, but the staff was upfront about the possible extended wait time for our food order. They were very prompt with bringing water and taking our drink order. The food was cooked well and had lots of flavor. I definitely recommend the chorizo waffle. And if you enjoy bloody Mary's, theirs are a must.

I really enjoyed this place for their delicious food and welcoming vibe. I had the fried chicken sandwich and Christian hooked up with BBQ sauce because I don't do spicy food. I appreciated the accommodation.

I wished I had not waited so long to try this place. I have been to the one in Redding but Chico Deja was so delicious. The veggie omlete had so many fresh ingredients and I am not normally a potato person but they were exceptional, not greasy at all. Food was piping hot! My sil had the Cubano and she said it was exceptional, fries best she has ever had! The service was also exceptional, friendly and attentive. I am looking forward to trying other items off the menu. I love I can get breakfast for lunch! What a treat, don't hesitate to support this local gem!

So yummy! The Fruity Pebbles waffle, the Oreo pancakes, the biscuits and gravy and the Benedict were enjoyed by my entire family! We all loved everything and can't wait to go back!

As one who always tries French Toast at any breakfast joint I find, the answer is YES, Deja Vu's rendition was DELECTABLE. Can't wait to try more of the menu!

Never disappoints, the owner is incredible, friendly staff, and food is always amazing. I need that bourbon vanilla waffle on the menu forever! I love this restaurant so much, best in chico!

Honestly, one of the best places for a cozy yet delicious breakfast spot. I've been around different restaurants in Chico and have never been completely satisfied with a meal but this place did it. Had my birthday brunch here and I had amazing service and wonderful food. HIGHLY recommend coming here!!

super relaxed atmosphere. Staff was friendly and very attentive in refilling my coffee. I had the cinnamon toast crunch French toast, (one of the specials of the day) it was amazing! I recommend getting a side of potatoes too, since they carry the chili gods hot sauce. Not that it needed it. Highly recommend checking this place out!

First time having breakfast here! The host and the server were exemplary. The food is savory and the ambiance was cozy. Definitely coming back soon!

The best place for brunch in Chico. I never really try new things and never order biscuits and gravy. But the first time my wife and I went to Deja Vu, I ordered the Cheddar Cheese and Chive biscuits and gravy. The biscuits and gravy were very delicious and outstanding. She has had the Strawberry 3-way French toast, and then The Bam Bam waffles. I had a Cubano sandwich and fries to die for. Next I had 2 egg Breakfast with carnitas and potatoes. Everything has been perfect. Christian is always greeting you and very friendly. As well as all the staff. My wife and I love fresh made food. It reminds me of being little again at Grandma's on sunday morning.

The only issue you will have is figuring out what mouth l-watering item to select from their creative menu choices. This restaurant is a must try!

It’s magic how perfect they’re cooked. I ordered the eggs Benedict which was yummy! The ham was super smoked so a little too salty for me but my brothers loved it. Pancakes were so delicious, their original was slightly lemon favored but still delicious. And the French toast was also delicious.

We had a large group of 16. I had called ahead so our table was ready. Our food came out together & the chef visited our table to see how the food was. He thanked us for challenging him with a large order! Everyone was super pleasant. Our whole party was pleased with the food & service!

This was such a lovely surprise find when we stopped into Chico! The waitresses were very helpful and kind, the decor is the vibe, and the food was amazing!!! I got the carnitas dish which was SO GOOD. I would definitely recommend it! My husband got the chicken and waffles which was okay. The waffle was phenomenal but the chicken was a bit boring. Overall though, I would absolutely recommend this place as there were so many amazing options on the menu that I have yet to try!

So glad we stopped in here for a bite! The Strawberry French Toast was amazing. They really let the strawberries stand out without adding additional sugary toppings. Also tried the Blueberry Lemon Ricotta pancakes which again were perfectly sweet with plenty of blueberry flavor. I would skip the potatoes here, although they are crunchy they lack seasoning. All in all I would for sure eat here again!

It was my first time having breakfast here. My griend and I split the Cinnabun pancakes and the cheddar chive Bisquits and gravey. The atmosphere was bustling but warm and welcoming. The service was great as well. Hit a home run with the food. The candied walnuts were an excellent addition to the pancakes and the biscuits and gravy were the best I've ever had - don't tell my mother-in-law. The espresso was tasty - try the hazelnut latte not too sweet, just right. Worth the wait! I look forward to coming back!

Sunday's are a little busy, but that's for a good reason. The food is generously portioned and very tasty. The staff is very accommodating. I always look forward to brunch here!

Went to get breakfast with my girlfriend on 12/21 and the service and food was amazing!!! They gave us a free strawberry French toast plate on the house that was DELICIOUS!! My girlfriend also had some noise sensitivity and the staff were very accommodating and turned the music down for us. Definitely will be coming here again.

This place is so legit and tucked away in a lil nice area that has a taproom and wine room all in the same parking lot. Highly recommend, the food was delicious , the service was outstanding and would easily go back.

Really good food. I ordered the classic eggs, bacon, and home fries. The eggs were perfectly scrambled, the bacon was nice and crispy, and the potatoes were seasoned beautifully. The service was excellent as well.

We were seated in the back room at the window. The food was really good. The service was the best ever. Adela was our server and she was fantastic. We will be back for the food and Adela! 5 stars all around!

We had a delicious brunch here! We appreciated the ample off street parking and easy access. We arrived at 10:30 on a weekday and were seated immediately. Service was great and the omelets and eggs Benedict that our party ordered were some of the best we’ve had. The noise level was low enough that we could easily have a conversation during our meal. All in all a very enjoyable experience and would recommend Deja Vu

Amazing waiters! Very polite and attentive to our needs. The restraunt was a little loud, but that's what made the ambiance. While we waited, we were allowed to have a cup of coffee, which was nice.

I decided to give this place a try based on a suggestion from a friend. The decor and aesthetic on this inside is cozy and has an elegant but old-timey feel to it. The inside is decorated very pretty with furniture that has detail carving, items that have gold accents, and pretty paintings on the wall. It has a good vibe overall and was quite busy when I went on a Sunday morning. Most tables were filled with large or medium sized groups of people. The waitress I had was friendly and the other employees seemed nice as well. The service was good. The waitress told me about the specials and I ordered the pumpkin cream cheese stuffed French toast with chocolate. It took quite some time before my food arrived, maybe 45 minutes? I didn't really mind the wait for my food, however that might bother some people, so if you're looking for a quick bite I wouldn't recommend this place. The french toast was not to my liking unfortunately. I found it a bit too sweet being covered in the chocolate sauce, shavings, and a sweet pumpkin cream cheese. It didn't really have any other flavor to balance out the sweetness and it was a bit too overwhelming. I also didn't like the texture, for a French toast I usually prefer it firmer but this seemed just too soft and soggy from all the sauces. It didnt really feel like I was eating french toast to be honest. I could barely taste the bread and it almost seemed like it wasn't actually french toast because the bread itself was so soft and gooey that it didn't have that feel or taste of being dipped in egg and actually cooked so that was disappointing. It just seemed like I was eating mushy bread covered in sauce. So if you enjoy your bread soft and mushy and overly sweet then you might enjoy this dish. That being said, it wasn't terrible but I wouldn't order it again. I would definitely give them another try and perhaps go with a more savory dish next time. The waitress had mentioned some sort of beer cheese and meat breakfast sandwhich so I might order that next time. Ultimately I would recommend this place if you don't mind a longer wait for breakfast and if you want to try something different. I'm only docking a star because I had high hopes the special I ordered would be good but I ended up being slightly disappointed.

Service is nice. They are also dog-friendly (I saw a gentleman bringing the dog there). Food is ok (we took Blueberry pancakes and Veggie omelet and a side of shredded pork). Roasted potatoes were too dry

You can't talk about breakfast in Chico without bringing up Deja Vu! And up until this past weekend, I hadn't had to chance to experience it firsthand. I will say, I drive by often and it's always packed on weekend mornings... that's a good sign, right? Their menu is nowhere to be found online, so I only had an idea of what we were in store for based on Google and Yelp photos. We went on a Sunday morning around 10am, and waited about 15-20 mins for a table. Once sat, we were greeted promptly and continued to have impeccable service throughout the meal. If I could describe the menu generally, I'd say it's elevated takes on breakfast standards with an almost dessert-like twist... i.e. cookies & cream and cinnabun pancakes. I kept it standard by creating my own breakfast plate: 2 eggs, potatoes, and choices of meat and toast. The potatoes were phenomenal! I was surprised to receive 3 slices of bacon but only 1 slice of toast. I would've much rather had 2 and 2, and almost wondered if it was a mistake. I also would've loved if sugar/splenda was on the table, or automatically brought out if you order coffee. It was one more thing we had to ask for. It seems I'm more of a traditionalist when it comes to breakfast, so Deja Vu probably won't be in my regular rotation... but I can certainly see why they stay busy!

First impressions: nice decor, ample set up between tables, nice uplifting music, and today wonderful AC. Can’t praise that enough as the reigning heat has been anything but cool. Owner, as many observed, greeted us upon entering at around 1:15 PM. Menu a small number of choices, but who needs 100 when 30+ is enough for a breakfast place. Fellow reviewers could not stop praising the place. Food ordered: Veggie Omelette, $16.50. Zucchini, spinach, mushrooms, monterey jack, cherry tomatoes, parmesan, and blistered artichoke hearts atop pesto & a balsamic glaze. Served with herb-roasted potatoes. Was not disclosed the number of eggs utilized, but a safe bet would be 3. Comensal enjoyed the average size dish, nice amount throughout, and roasted potatoes were seriously dressed for the occasion. 4 Stars. Cheddar Chives Biscuits & Gravy, $16 with a side of ham, $5. Curiosity made me order it. Since way back I’ve grown quite affectionate to good gravy. This version boasts of herbaceous sausage gravy, and the order included two eggs. Funny how was never asked as to how I preferred the eggs, which I would have asked for scramble today, but a little past over medium arrived. Kind of unusual for 2 biscuits and gravy +2 eggs become an entree of choice. All by itself. The advertised sausage so tiny perhaps, as to be invisible. Gravy slightly past it’s prime, and biscuits soft and filling, not very much of it, but certainly edible.. The ham small serving, heavily seasoned, dryish and not a memorable one. 3.5 Stars. Water 💦 clean and cold. Service respectable, place including restroom clean. Total $40.59 plus gratuity out the door for around $47. For sure worth the visit, as God knows I had my share of several breakfast places in Chico, some way less appealing so a new one was in order. 4 Stars.

Edit: Nov 2024, I’ve now gone to Deja Vu 3 times and after today’s visit I’m not sure I’d be back. We got to Deja Vu at about 1:15pm and it was definitely winding down, not a full house. My friend got a mimosa, but then we proceeded to wait 45 minutes until her food came out, and a full hour for my food. Unfortunately this has happened 2 of the 3 times I’ve gone. Everyone was polite and helpful, but I could’ve gone home and made eggs and potatoes and toast in less time. I think in the future I’ll be going elsewhere. Went to Deja Vu for the first time today, and we came in at the same time as a ton of people, was seated within 10 minutes still during a very busy period. Service was excellent and prompt, food took a while, as expected during peak times, drinks were very fast. Food/drink review: - Strawberry French Toast: I really wanted to like this, it looks fantastic, but I believe they used a baguette-like bread for it, so it was super chewy and has to be cut with a knife, not just your fork. Since this is a French themed restaurant (or so it seems by the decor) I’m not sure why they didn’t use Brioche bread which is French. This really took away from the dish in my opinion, and it would be nice if they did a dusting of powder sugar on top, and provide additional syrup without asking as well. I personally wouldn’t order this again. - Sunrise Mimosa: orange and cranberry mimosa, was very good! I asked for additional juice since I prefer a heavier juice based ratio. -Cappuccino: very very good! I would prefer if they brought out sugar without being asked. Would definitely go to this place again and try additional dishes.

The atmosphere is great. Our waitress was good. But we ordered a side of sausages and both times they came out of the kitchen with a long hair on the sausages. The manager even walked by and asked us how we are and we told him about the big hair on the food twice. They took the big hair sausages off of our bill but the manager did nothing else to make it right. I personally couldn’t finish my meal after the big hair situation twice on the food. Personally I am never going back.

Don’t come if you are hungry or in a hurry. Min 45-60 minute wait for food. That’s a long wait for fine dinning dinners but for eggs?? Not ok. To many options in Chico to wait for ok food..
