Visited September 26th...always see my receipt as proof! This place had great reviews in Chico and they were right! Beautiful and sleek inside and out! I love suishi and I ordered the Red dragon because it was spicy! YUM! My boyfriend had the California roll which he enjoyed. BEST was the baby back ribs! YES...their ribs melted right off the bone in a slightly sticky and awesome concoction! Beautiful presentation on all dishes! We also had a glass of wine and a local IPA. They have an extended area that also serves hard alcohol along with beer..wine..sake and specialty drinks. We got there when they opened at 1130am and it was nice and cool inside! They also have outdoor seating that is shaded! It was a Great experience! Thank you Regan and the two awesome suishi chefs...Charlie ( cute petite gal) and Syrjah (i didn't spell his name right..awesome man bun.). Professional and friendly and show pride in what they do! Love the location because it's walking distance to shops! I will be back! 5 star service...classy yet unpretentious and relaxing!
This is the type of place where the food justifies a return visit. Order: Shaka Tuna and Baby Greens for the appetizer. Scallop crunch, Salmon Fiesta and the Red Dragon for sushi. Shaka Tuna had these very fine diced picked onions that really added this amazing flavor. It was so tempting to drink the marinade at the bottom! Also the Baby Greens has this amazing sesame based dressing. I thought it was a steal for the price. I think I was so wowed by the apps that no matter what I was going to think the sushi was good, which it was. I sat at the bar, and the bartender was super nice. Lots of staff came and went to pick up their drinks and it seems like the people there are quality and are enjoying themselves.
Came here for a nice night out. Recommend calling for reservations this place was packed on a Saturday night. That being said the service was amazing and the food still came out fast and pretty delicious. Tried multiple rolls. All had great flavors. Would go back.
Rave about Raw Bars sushi class I attended today. What a fantastic experience!!!! So well organized and informational. You can totally see how passionate and caring everyone at Raw Bar is about quality and service. Making our own food was amazing and tasty. I would totally take this class again. Many thanks to Darren and all the staff for a wonderful experience. See you soon for dinner and another class.
A pleasant Saturday afternoon, and finally a trip to the RAW BAR. Our children eat here all the time, but my Wife and I have never stepped foot into this establishment. It was a criminal act We will never repeat. We were seated immediately, and a server was right there to answer ANY questions we had. After perusing the menu, we ordered to indulge both of our palates. We started with Edamame w/sea salt and Shishito Peppers as appetizers, then ordered the Salmon Poke Bowl (2x the meat), then added a Twin Dragon roll, and a Sweet Chili Philly roll for our main courses. It wasn't 5 minutes before everything started arriving. To say the taste was incredible isn't doing it justice! Fresh ingredients, prepared quickly and professionally, and plated with expertise made this meal a wonder to behold! Please don't forget to ask for the fresh ginger and Wasabi to both cleanse your palate and add a kick to your food. After taking our time to eat, we finished and then added dessert. We ordered the Creme' Brule with Raspberry Sorbet, and the Tempura fried Bananas with Coconut Ice Cream. Both were overwhelming in flavor and plating, and the flavors were very tasty on the tongue! We were so pleased with this place and the food we tipped our server 45%, and tipped each cook $10 for their excellant service and attitude. This rivals Japanese Blossom in appeal and taste, AND is actually better in nuance and seating...nowhere near as noisy either. Repeat customers for LIFE!!
Everything is sooo fresh. The rolls are unique in the most amazing way. My husband had the Beef noodle dish and was quite happy, albeit a tad too much salt, only for his taste. However, he will order it again. Erin, our server, was very nice and attentive.
On this cold winter evening, the Rawbar Restaurant provided a wonderful respite from the cold and the sea of carbohydrates saturating the downtown area. The Lemon Hamachi (roll), with a lemon slice on top, had a delightfully fresh zest followed by an accent of cucumber that enhanced the Yellowtail flavor. The Tiger eye slam is an amazing roll featuring salmon drizzled with unagi sauce on top and freshwater eel rolled inside, providing a tantalizingly creamy journey for the consumer. Interested in trying one of the tempura fried rolls, we opted for the Philafornia (Ingredients: Krab, avocado, cream cheese). The tempura breading encasing the roll was a familiar, rougher texture that complemented the silkiness of the cream cheese and avocado. Accompanied with the krab, the roll was sweet and calm compared to the sharp flavors of the other rolls we tried. Very pleasantly surprised with the experience. For dessert, we topped off the experience with the house favorite, the Tempura Fried Banana. This decadently indulgent dish is a dichotomy of crunchy and warm, soft and cold. The banana is subtly sweet, the tempura breading is warm and melts the ice cream as you savor it. If it becomes too sweet, there is a single raspberry to balance the sugar with its fruity tart flavor.
Always a wonderful time. Food, atmosphere, design, and staff all kick ass. Me and my dog love coming here!
Best quail egg shooters and oyster shooters in town! Amazing staff every time we are in there. Great happy hour menu with great prices. Even after happy hour it's a great bang for your buck. The crusty roll is outstanding! Daily specials even sushi cooking classes! Sit at the bar and watch these pros make mouthwatering plates. The knife skills on these guys! TIP YOUR SUSHI MAKER!
This is the best sushi in Chico I've found so far. The staff is excellent and attentive, the food is outstanding and above the level of food I've come to expect from a college town. The decor is friendly and artsy with what appears to be local tree art for that Chico feel. The kitchen is friendly and creative, the special was unnamed but before we left they wrote it down as the "phantom menace". I highly recommend that roll.
Some if the best sushi I've eaten in a long time. Our server Erin was great and very intuitive. Can't wait to return. Thank you Rawbar for a great birthday dinner !!!
Came here for the first time and had a fantastic experience. I absolutely loved my rainbow roll, fried gyoza, salmon smash? roll, the Walu sashimi (omg that’s delicious), the Maui something roll (wasn’t to my taste) and my friend got a Grapes of Wrath drink and I got a Tradewind (?) drink- not pictured. The atmosphere here is so comfortable and nice, just be prepared for the prices to match all the 5 stars.
The new location within Robar is awesome because the place really opened up. The outdoor dining is amazing. I sat down for dinner with my hot girlfriend and ordered some rolls, Maguro, and rosé with some Sapporo and hot Sake. The sushi chefs were very friendly. Food was amazing. Service was excellent.

A hidden gem in the center of town. Outdoor and indoor seating. A wonderful selection of bevages to include cold or hot sake (filtered & unfiltered). The sushi rolls are generous in size and all are Very Delicious, with a perfect pairing of sauces! A perfect setting for solo, couples, or groups. Did I mention that the sushi rolls are special enough to highlight again? Yummy! 😋😋
We did a sushi rolling lesson here and it was so much fun. The food is excellent as well, with very fresh sushi and nigiri. Highly recommend!
One of my favorite local sushi restaurants! I don't think I have ever had bad service or bad food. Everything is fresh and high quality. Great outdoor seating that provides a beautiful view of the city plaza.

They have good rolls and sashimi. Portions are smaller than usual- I ate $50 worth of sushi and it wasn't as filling as other places for the same price. But what can you do if this is the best sushi you can get in Chico?
The portions are really small so just order a bunch of stuff and don’t worry about it you can’t fill yourself up here no matter how much you order. The prices aren’t horrible but you’re paying more for the presentation than the taste of the food. The food tastes quite boring there’s very little complexity but the plating is quite cute. It’s incredibly loud even on the deck and people drive by in their cars and do burnouts leaving tire and exhaust smoke. I know that raw bar has no control over this but the location choice was bad. The service was attentive. If you want to impress a Chico local with no taste I’m sure they would be happy to be here so they can post on their Facebook account.
My review is only based on sushi rolls as that's all I've had. Rolls were small, cold, and limited flavor. But pretty presentation. Also, had the beer brined wings, they were pretty good.

I just have to say I ate here a while back and a piece of sushi I bit into had mold on the seaweed on it. I could taste the flavor of mold so bad but was on a first date and had no where to spit it out so I just had to try to swallow it down without gagging. I couldn't get that distinct taste of mold out of my mouth after that and was totally disgusted. I was told this was a nice place. I'm thinking they hydrate their seaweed and don't throw away the unused pieces at the end of the night. It's been a while so hopefully they've improved.
4:45pm went in. No reservation. Place was no more than 50% full. Open tables everywhere. Was told they could not seat us. Was looking for our forever go to sushi spot in the area. Lost a customer forever!
